success is a word that gives many Christians the crips makes people feel uncomfortable especially deep Christians strong Christians why because we have or should I say that word is used by many people today in the world who teach self-help and self-reliance so they tell us that we have unlimited power to achieve success we can do just about anything that we want to do that will make a Christian feel uncomfortable of course because we know you can't do everything because you are not good however I read Genesis chapter 1 verses 26 to 28 and what I see there does not look like phileo and it's God's intention for man but I should say this when the church feels uncomfortable about the word it avoids the word it runs away from it and it's been my observation that we when we run away from some of those sensitive topics or areas Satan sees a vacuum and occupies the space and leverages on that space to influence culture example money we became very uncomfortable talking about money so we decided not to have anything to do with it if I said I helped us to misunderstand the topic Meadows believed that the Bible says that money is the root of all evil the Bible didn't say so the Bible said the love of money is the root of all kinds of evil when we decided to avoid the money issue run away from business setting occupy that space but Jesus understood the power of money when he described Satan as mama and say you cannot serve God and Mammon placing the power and the influence of the God of money on practically the same pedestal as God and settle on us and then how much influence money has on our thinking and on our emotions leveraged it and today money is one of those things that Satan uses to shape people's thinking and emotions all over the world gratefully God give us light yes we saw that money is not the root of all evil the lack of money is the root of many evils on this planet telling you what is a destroyer of course I must admit that when we took back the issue of money to good hold of it we're almost going over the deep end again God will help us sex another topic we run away from sensitive vision should not we saw shied away from it to the point where it was as if the world makes God feel uncomfortable then people look funny when we mentioned our word in church as if it's not something they think about most of the day but the impression you sex and created or sexual beings so even what we were supposed to own the water should be God well since we abandoned it Satan took it over and knowing how attractive the subject is as leverage to shape culture and now sex is used to sell everything including toothpick then you have power you have these your power yes it can be abused we run away from it especially political power say time to control of it we run into the church set I run into the government house and the legislative houses then they make laws that are binding on us gratefully we're taking those those places back so back to success you check in the dictionary it says that success is the achievement of goals that's what it means to succeed to achieve your goals to achieve your aims to turn out as expected so simply you set goals you achieved them that success so I read Genesis 1:26 to 28 I see and God said let us make man in our own image after our likeness and let them have dominion and God created man in his own image he created him male and female he created them verse 28 says and God blessed them and said be fruitful and multiply and replenish the earth and subdue it control it he said the rule abide and have dominion that looks more to me like achieving goals than anything else in other words man was created with the capacity to achieve his goal when man does not achieve his goals he's frustrated frustrated because his system is not designed for not achieving goals his design to achieve goals he malfunctions then he can experience discouragement depression fear doubt worry anxiety and all those negative things were designed with the capacity to achieve goals so we need to pay more attention to the word game not having goals therefore it's dangerous when I learn how to watch out to set trying to define or understand success Luke chapter 12 verse 15 jesus said beware of covetousness where a man's life does not consist of the abundance of the face he possesses then he went ahead and breakthrough that you killed him what did he do wrong is it wrong to be successful I need to understand this I need to understand and you know I had had stories before from the Bible this just seems to fit in story of Lazarus and the rich man remember the rich man true parties held parties in his house every day and the poor man Lazarus who had sores on his body was placed at his gate even dogs came to lick the sauce and then both of them died Lazarus the poor man was carried by angels to Abraham's bosom the rich man found himself in hell when you read it just on the face of it when you read that story what does it suggest to you if you enjoy too much on this side of eternity when you cross over to the other side they will punish you Lucifer but if you suffer very well very well on this side of eternity when you cross over to the other side you will enjoy on the surface of it that's what it suggests of course you and I know it was not because the rich man was rich that he went to ask a question whose goals whose goals it's okay for you to set goals quite alright for different areas of your life but there's one goal you didn't set the goal of being born into this world as a human being you met yourself here as a human being someone decided that someone designed it someone proposed plant for you to be here and had a reason and intention at the back of his mind so if you didn't set the goal of being born as a human being then we cannot actually determine the definition of success for your life from you so real success true success is the achievement of the goals that God said for your life so in Jeremiah chapter 1 verses 4 & 5 God said to Jeremiah before you were formed in your mother's womb by new you and before you came out of your mother's womb I sanctified you and ordained you I separated you for a specific purpose amazing so that's what we want to bring to our remembrance this morning you are not here by accident your life was planned and he says before the foundation of the world said before you were formed in a mother's womb in fact Hebrews chapter 4 the first three verses says let us therefore fear lest a promise being left us of entering into his rest any of you should seem to consider it there's something called God's rest 4 on 2 also the world preached as well as unto them but the word that was preached was not mixed with faith in those who had it there remains therefore arrest to the people of God and he who has entered into his rest that is God's rest has least from his own walks because the works were finished from the foundation of the wall amazing your life was suspected and finished even before Adam was created amazing amazing so having understood that I told myself I only want to do work that has been finished it is called experiment if you've experienced the privation serious depravation you tend to overvalue money and material things success for you is likely to be to get a lot of money have a big house of because those things are good but you ask the people who have them lots of them as this searching for something what they thought the money will do it didn't do it so there's no point in you experimenting Solomon read the book of Ecclesiastes this report Solomon tried money and accomplishments huge projects you know it he had money he had so much wealth they had never been anybody like him before they
