The Mysteries of Gravity Falls | Ep.25 - Soos and the Real Girl

we start off episode 25 by basically following Seuss home after his work Dan and right of the bed I don't want to sound disturbing but do you think they text the dery Jeff for this I hope they didn't he's chilling on the couch with Abita who has some tinf fall in her hair which is supposed to cover up the highlights that aren't really visible we also already starting off with two animation errors one being the alarm chiming but it isn't fully reset yet and the second one is that the tinf fall changes color from Gray to this brownish beige in the next scene and abolito also sets up the rest of the episode by telling sus that he is supposed to get a date by the end of next week because his cousin regie is getting engaged ah yes Gravity Fall true has its way to entertain the kids watching and give them nightmares that's also a magazine I can definitely get behind I don't know why you would want to make eye contact anyways you already know that St is a cheap gate but this thing seems dangerous even for his standards this time though he's willing to demonstrate that by himself when the creepy thing just chops down on his arm and I sure hope he got his t on his shot we out off the whole dating plot line by Seuss trying to talk to in his words a woman that goes as well as you think it would some of you might have already noticed that this t-shirt rack just magically appeared for him to hide in because it hasn't been there in any other episode and it also doesn't stick around for long because it moves shortly after and then just disappears into nothingness like a lot of things in Gravity Falls tend to do while on the topic of t-shirts I also don't know if Seuss just has a Wardrobe full of these or if he just wears that one all the time you need to get rich or lie about being rich based of course the twins want to help Susan his quest to find a date for the engagement party and to do that they go to the place where they can find a lot of people in the shortest amount of time the mall a lot of people means recurring characters throughout the episode starting off with the two agents that are either there to go shopping or to keep tap on the pints family both seem equally posible there's also some foreshadowing for Melody as well who's going to play a bigger role later on in the episode the lady from the shack that Su scared also seems to have just sprinted to the mall right away after a short Montage showing you how not to talk to people we follow Stan in his Endeavor to find a replacement for Old Goldie entering an arcade built into the mall that's called who has jeree and the S&P Department definitely did not like that name but in the end they stuck with it before I ented the arcade Stan also threw old Goldie into a dumpster next to it and apparently Robbie was already at that dumpster because his signature explosion muffin was spray painted on it there are also a few interesting arcade cabinets when Stan enters the freakier version of Chuck-E-Cheese if that's even possible for example the fight fighters cabinet which we've of course already seen in the fight fighters episode but also the owl Trel cabinet a reference to the TV ad we saw in the finale of season 1 oh okay one of those kids is way too OV excited back to S with his dating dilemma and some more Retro Game references like the Pac-Man one the Frogger one and probably the punch out one definitely don't quote me on the last one though of course conveniently his cousin Reggie is also at the mall and he has a pretty interesting tattoo on his left arm those are some Japanese Katakana translating to ragi which is supposed to be regie but he choked while translating it and judging by the way he's behaving he kind of seems like the guy who would get his own name tattooed on himself in different language anguage and then chokes while translating it s reacts by fleeing into the game store so his cousin doesn't see him and he finds a game that's supposed to make him better at dating the game is published by no life games slight jab at everyone playing dating simulators but it does seem fitting the game's in the same vein is something like doy DOI literature Club so that's basically a psycho sensient creepy fourth wall breaking girl in the video game sus also reads the description as virtually improve your dating skills but that isn't printed anywhere on the actual cover though there is a part of the cover that we can read and that's the interesting part because suus can apparently also read those Ki apparently is very important here because the translation Seuss gives us is that n out of 10 basement dwellers recommend which is not what this translates to at all it says romanu Academy which is just romance Academy who could have guessed after the animation Arrow of the sticky note with warning on it disappearing out of nowhere and a short lar C reference we swap scenes to su's room but we'll start off with a rundown of all the Easter eggs and references because there are a lot up on the Shelf we've got a picture of probably teenage mood Ninja Turtles a Godzilla figurine and a Furby moving on to the right side of the room we've got a Nord poster which is just drawn backwards and a poster that's probably a Steven seigal reference but I'm not sure about this one he just kind of looks like him and the last one I've spotted is a Nintendo 64 on the Shelf over the computer screen H I don't think it security would be very proud of this one now we're finally moving on to the game itself and it's a good thing that they put the spontaneous combustion option right there in the main menu yes that's actually what it translates to we are ending the scene with a bit of foreshadowing after Su is done talking to gany that's gany for about a minute the camera pans down and shows us that the PC is not plugged in wo yeah very spooky though I have to say they nailed the continuity on this one because we were able to see that the PC isn't plugged in earlier as well back at the mystery check the next day Wendy is still reading the same magazine even though it's clearly empty and we get a hint from Stan about su's work mentality when he tells the twins that this is the first day that Seuss hasn't appeared at work generally the show keeps his characterizations a bit more indirect but this line from Stan makes it abundantly clear that Sue focus is his work at the mystery shck which does make sense considering that he fantasized about owning the mystery shck himself in episode 11 so the twins go to his home to find out what happens and he tells them that he hasn't seen natural sunlight in 13 hours that seems healthy and color me impressed the clock on the background didn't jump forward by an hour after they talked for a few seconds wow there's not that much more in this scene just judging by the poster in the background he's also a brony okay so at least one minute has passed since the start of the scene and the clock still shows the same time they had that chance and they just didn't take it also just as a s side note apparently Abu Alita reads su's diary after the twins St Su back to the mall and he bumps into a woman who tells him that he can't undo who he is really odd thing to say to a stranger gin his back because she followed him through the electric cabling into the mall and somehow nobody notices the giant brightly colored anime girl on the screen I guess not when Melody approaches him you know the one that we saw when the twins entered the mall for the first time he also seems to have moved around her stand quite a bit so they hit it off right away and decide to meet up later that day and Mabel of course goes apeshit about Sue securing a date and the scene of Melody leaving the mall makes this whole Mall layout thing even more confusing because she's leaving through an exit that doesn't look like the one that the twi entered the mall through because there are no escalators on the site but the stand clearly stood at that entrance earlier and was facing inwards into the mall and now it's facing the kids play area and Fu it I don't even know what's going on in this mall anymore so now Su dumps Gian who should have heard everything anyways because he was inhabiting the little electric locomotive that he was riding now throughout the next few scenes there's a lot of jumping back and forth between the Seuss plot line and the stand plot line which I found a bit jarring while watching the episode because they jump back and forth for four times in around 3 minutes and I think it doesn't really add anything to the scenes so the first jump is to stand preparing to steal one of the animatronics and climbing out of the window even though there's clearly a door that he could have taken then we swap back to Seuss to show that the date is starting but there are a few things in this short scene that I found interesting one of them is that Mabel is wearing a hat that kind of mimics Dippers just the colors are swapped to Pink and it's not a pine tree it's a heart on the front and the second thing is that Melody is portrayed to be a bit nervous fiddling around with her legs and saying that they are itchy which I thought was a pretty cool detail then the third jump back to stand where opens up the back door of the arcade and we see that Gary is kind of a weirdo and we also get another little continuity eror because it looks like the door changes material from metal to Wood but now we got through the back and forth swapping back to Seuss with him and Melody sitting at a table inside the arcade and at the start of the episode I already mentioned that there were a few characters that we've already seen inside the mall and there's another one in this scene it's one of pacifica's friends on the right with her dad probably after sus realizes that gany followed him to the mall again we get this wider shot with a few more cabinets and we're getting to the cabinets in a bit but I have to say I do not like the look that that owl is giving us creepy okay the cabinet that I found really interesting is the horse Dad one because what am I supposed to expect from a game that's called horse dad is it like Sims but with horses I don't think that we'll ever get to find out because we're moving on to the show that the animatronics are performing speaking of the animatronics um why does every single one look like they have gasoline on a daily basis you know I get it it's supposed to be creepy but look at this guy eh and of course similar to the formula that 5 fredd adopted later on the animatronics had to go crazy though that fact does not explain why they are equipped with deadly claws like who did the safety audit on those things who said that this was something okay for children to be around so now all hell breaks loose because gany doesn't like Melody and everyone starts running to the door and even though they were the first to start running they are the last to arrive at the exit the only explanation I have is that they might have stopped for snacks again while they are hiding behind the arcade cabinet we get a visual that looks cool but seems to make a little sense considering that she's possessing the animatronic itself and shouldn't be on the arcade machines but hey at least it looks cool Su then decides to be the diversion and huh how did she do that those aren't even electric okay she can apparently move things now that aren't electric with electricity apparently she became a Jedi that seems like an awfully large plot hole so while Gian is now chasing SE Melody and the kids try to get away from the other animatronics and Melody decapitates one of them so she apparently puts some real heft behind that swing considering that the head just popped clean off sadly all that struggling doesn't really help they are captured anyway and now su's corner by giany who talks to him as the animatronic and from the TV to his right but the model of her on the TV doesn't move her mouth while doing so so a little animation error right at the end ah yes a so-called kids show with faces just melting so now with Su having destroyed gany through use of a pizza oven he was able to secure a second date with Melody to the engagement party of his cousin Reggie so a happy ending even though in the end abolita pops out of the ball pit admitting to following Seuss around which seems even creepier than all the precursor FNAF stuff so I hope you enjoyed this episode of mysteries of Gravity Falls I know that my upload schedule right now is a complete mess and I'm really sorry for that one I'm trying to get back into the flow and back to some more consistent uploads huge thanks to everyone for sticking around though we just reached 400 Subs which is Bonkers considering that I did a sub special last year in December and we were at like 250 it's crazy but yeah that's basically all I had to say I hope you
