looking back at DreamWorks throughout the early 2010s there's really not a single line of quality that you can give to pretty much all their films from this era like for every masterpiece like Mr Peabody and Sherman we're coming Shas you had a bunch of others that just sort of existed like Rise of the Guardians a movie that bombs so hard it nearly brought the entire company down with it or just stupid dumb baby movies like trolls or the boss baby and then you had Turbo I like turbo look he dead however there is one movie from this era that I see absolutely nobody ever talk about online a movie that no one in their right mind ever really liked and seems to just been lost to the sands of time and that movie was 2015's home a movie that stood the test of time and not standing the test of time so I thought why not exploit some Nostalgia and take a look at dreamworks's roller coaster that is home now I'm no movie reviewer so I'm not going to be talking about like you know the character development and the pacing and all that us nonsense I'm just going to be going through the film talking about what I like and dislike and the good and bad within this train wreck of a plush please buy my plushy Link in the description now the movie starts out with the iconic DreamWorks intro as we all know however they actually changed it a bit so the guy on the moon gets sucked up which is really goofy and wacky and we get some monologuing from our main character o explaining why today is what's known as moving day for the species known as the boo so I'm assuming we're going to see something like this later in the film we get the backstory of this film Central Booth you see and you see this is this is genius they they they call him o right because when he like walks into a room everyone goes oh cuz cuz they don't they don't like him that's funny right there but like wouldn't he like have a name at Birth like did did he like forget his name like Spirited Away cuz like we have other boo later that just have like normal names so like why and as we all can clearly tell our man o hear his voice by the one and only Sheldon Cooper I don't know the actor's name and I'm not going to look it up because he is just Sheldon today I starts a new life in a new home but it's revealed that the boo are moving to what else but our planet of Earth and we get introduced to one of the greatest characters in all of known fiction a character that Rivals even Thanos and Goku in terms of power level we have none other than the man the myth the captain himself Captain SMI who is what's known as the king of running away as that is what all the boo know cowering and running away from their enemies their enemy is called the gorg it says it in this part but I forgot to say it when I was recording the video bye-bye but anyway the boo of course enter Earth they just straight up abduct every single human on the face of planet Earth and create giant towns located in Australia oh wait uh spoilers you weren't supposed to know that they were in Australia yet oh well but yeah Captain smex humans town is out here with zero crime zero hunger and zero poverty all with this beautiful render of Captain smck that looks like it's from Disney Infinity 1.0 but we get all kinds of shots of the boo in correctly using human technology which is just oh so hysterical and they use literally just a porta for I mean it is just a porta for to round up everything they deem not useful they should have done that on my ex-wife eh and then we get the film super epic title card followed by one of its many pop songs which we'll get to later and O enters his new boo Abode and he decides to make a housew Waring party for all his new friends and I realized during this shot and it took me like 10 years to realize this the weird tentacle things they have on the sides of their head I guess are their nose like they blow air out of them and they use them to smell honestly this is crazy boor but we get some absolutely hilarious moments like oh using a toilet brush it's a toothbrush that's not where that goes and while o stands at the door waiting his new house guests we get introduced to a central character of the plot Pig the cat and they name the cat Pig because it's got a curly little pigtail I I don't know how that works but okay and we're finally introduced to what's essentially the main character of this plot whose name is tip and she's watching a video of her mom on her ThinkPad and we learned that Mom isn't there and she was taken by the Boo and tip here is voiced by the one and only Rihanna and this movie is going to do nothing but reiterate the fact that she's played by Rihanna they really want you to know we love you so much we want to see you again so and soon you're coming to LA but as a boo closes in on her apartment Tiff decides to grab some stuff like a ukulele for some reason like she grabs you know like car keys and like duct tape and stuff but like she just grabs a ukul but she also grabs this present that she left her mom because Guardians came out the year before and already did that but as she grabs the gift she sets off a Kevin mallister ass booy trap for this boo that that has Sonic OC hair and tip just laughs at the Boo's transition she hops in her mom's car and is pretty unfit to drive it seems don't make a woman driver joke don't make a woman driver joke and as we cut back to O's party there's this one thing about the audio in this film that I really wanted to mention and you can hear it perfectly in this line here please come in and like it sounds so much like it's in a studio which like yeah no but throughout the entire movie the audio just sounds like this and it's just very obvious it's speaking through a mic I mean like if you look at something that Disney made in the same year like I don't know Frozen fever everything just seems completely normal and it doesn't take you out of the experience I can't read or spell but it's just so jarring throughout the entire movie but anyway o gets denied his party and turns blue but I don't think I mentioned this yet their emotions correlate to which color they are like he is blue because he's sad and he is red when he is mad and he is pink when he is glad however O then spots his bestest friend Kyle now Kyle's a very in-depth character with many layers and arcs to his dialogue and oh here believes that him and Kyle are bestest of friends but Kyle would disagree I he refuses to go to O's boo housewarming party for the ages o sends an Evite to him however what if I told you that the entire plot of the movie was set in motion right here because instead of sending it to just Kyle he sends it to the entire galaxy which means that their enemy the gorg will now be able to find and destroy their entire planet so then we get a wacky chase scene where O's trying to get to Antarctica because there's no boo there I guess and it eventually leads him to this convenience door where him and tip will cross paths to where tip just shoves his ass in a freezer like that episode of Regular Show and then o says his iconic line can I come into the out now remember this it's going to be important later but then o Sparks a flashback to when tip's Mom was captured by the Boo and it's like very clearly Christmas here you know Jesus's birthday and all so I'm just asking if this happened in real life how many people would think this would be the second coming of Christ initially and then tip actually does let ow into the out now because she needs him to fix her car and then we cut to the newly formed boo world where smck is giving a rundown of how the government is handling the current matter with the utmost respect and diligence and we're out we are doomed and Captain SM summons the big brain boo which might just have some of the funniest character designs in the entire film like my God look at them and they all get a grand idea just cancel his email and they actually say the word email so like the Boo have email this implies that they just had regular mail in the first place how long have the boo been a race they have flying bubble cars but they still have email you'd think they'd find some super sophisticated high-tech way of communication that isn't email I don't know boo lore is inconsistent but we finally get to see what O's invite looked like and I'm just going to let it speak for itself you are all invited to a party just head to the Milky Way third planet from the Sun my best friend Kyle will be there Kyle Kyle is sent after o the now fugitive and then we get to see the greatest form of transportation ever created I calls it slushious and after creating hundreds of thousands of dollars in property damage tip decides to let O come along and a search for my mom who is my mom no my mom what did I say and they finally decide to put their differences aside and get to par to find tip's Mom since the boo headquarters is in the middle of the Eiffel Tower for some reason I don't know why I mean they could have just picked like the Pentagon or something I don't know and then we do get this admittedly cool shot above the outskirts in New York but then afterwards we get a way better shot and afterwards we get to hear the legend of the shusher the staff Captain smck yields and how he heroically ran away from the gorg at a peace meeting and just up and stole this random Rock thing and created the shusher now why is it called the shusher shush whatever we cut to later in the day we now we can clearly see the Statue of Liberty has been transformed into its rightful form the statue of smck and now with Kyle hot on their tail it leads them to the infamous bathroom scene which if you remember any of the trailers for this movie you'll remember this gem do not eat the blue mints thankfully there is a large bowl of lemonade do not drink the lemonade but then out of nowhere Kyle shows up and before he can demand the password tip comes in and beats the ever loving out of O the only thing that should be on everybody's face is extra cheese and we finally get to what's easily the funniest shot in the entire movie and I'm sure you probably seen it somewhere recently I erased him then we get to the scene where ow and tip are going across the Atlantic Ocean and we get some simple dialogue between them as simple as it is it actually does give some genuine boore like how if probability levels for anything they do drop below 50% the boo just give up which I guess is a little neat tidbit that adds to the lore I mean as as much lore as this movie can have but oh well and afterwards tip decides to play a song on the radio to where we get another instance of the film's banging soundtrack no question this is easily the best part of the entire movie and you know how I said that they want to remind you that Rihanna voes tip yeah well Rihanna also did like half the songs for this movie so tip who's voiced by Rihanna Put on a Rihanna song on the radio and I guess just doesn't question the fact that she sounds exactly like her I don't get it but I will say the song they play Dancing in the Dark isn't absolute Bop but I obviously can't even play a snippet of it without getting demonetized to hell and back so I'll leave a link to this film's baning soundtrack in the description feel free to check it out when you're done with this video but yeah when the song plays oh can't resist busting a lime and eventually starts having a seizure or something and asides just just jump out of the car like I I don't know you do you man and when he finally comes back literal hours later tip is rightfully mad for him just ditching and we actually do get a heartfelt is moment where tip explains how the boo ruined her whole life which like I mean I'd be pretty pissed if this happened myself but this somewhat emotional moment just cut off by this Family Guy ass cutaway gag where it shows what boo are like when they're young like what were they thinking here and then it just goes right back to the emotional stuff like then we cut to the boo Mothership where the big brain boo are going to hook themselves up to these big brain boo machines and the solution to get into O's account so they can cancel the invite before it reaches the gorg is to simply just type in random numbers and letters and hopefully get the password which I won't spoil but I'll tell you that it is very long and if you do the math on how many keys are on a standard keyboard as well as how many character slots are in the finished pass password the chances of them correctly guessing the password would be one out of I was going to look up what this number would be written out but then it looked like this so I gave up but yeah I was going to go and look up how many days and years this would be but screw that I give up I spent like 20 minutes trying to figure this out I got things to do like talk about more boo but we move on to another scene of tip and O flying through their slushious and we find out that oh it it autocorrected o to Ohio I'm killing myself and we find out that oh has broken the boo rule of over nine mistakes and you're out and he's on mistake number 62 and he's certain he's going to be erased if he returns but like he's on number 62 like I guess they just been lenient this whole time but like 53 times I mean I get this one's bigger and all but 53 times I mean come on I don't know maybe it's just boo charm knock knock who there interrupting cow interrupting C interrupting cow who and then we go to the iconic makeup scene where they play Rihanna's only girl in the world and they just give oh a little da in his face so now no one will recognize him yippity dudah so then the T able to sneak aboard the boo ship or whatever and they get into the big boy boo room and um I think the less said about this the better the two go to log into to boob's account with his password which is quote my name is O Captain smck is great and anyone who does not think that is a p one it doesn't work and they have a panic attack but then they realize oh had the caps lock on oh you and with literally a second to spare they finally disable a message and save Earth from a gorg Invasion and here's the part where I'd like to remind you that the main premise of the plot has been solved and we are literally halfway through the movie so the two use the boo navigator to find the location of my mom and they find out that her alongside every other human is located in the good old country of Australia God no one of the boo sent them there living there seems like absolute hell and the two final location of tip's mom who is voiced by Miss yenfa Lopez and I swear to God she just looks like grownup Dora like especially with that new Paramount plus CGI Dora I mean these two are literally the same organism you cannot tell me otherwise but the two exit the mother ship and find out they've gotten booed how many times have I said boo already in this video dear Lord and smck teas his o on how many times his mess up and now he's got to erase him but then tip threatens to injure the Porta for but then they remember they're in zero build this hum girl got an A in geometry and then all the boobs just roll off their deaths like there is no way of getting around it there's no way all these guys could have landed and conveniently placed water or curtains and stuff there's got to be a boo death count going but eventually our dynamic duo break their bubble car thing and are literally just hanging on for dear life at the needle point of the Eiffel Tower and then after that we get some crazy rooftop High Jinks as well as an outdated 3D shot and the two leave in slushes for some reason they kept Starry Night by Van go like if there is a single scratch on that thing they're going to jail for the rest of their lives and blah blah blah another o and tip dialogue scene and they get in their car and oh hey look the ukulele is back cheze off's gun in its purest form am I right and then we get such epic things as a smck sphinx as well as another pop song yippe this one's actually pretty good and they all have a nice little sleep in their car until the gorg shows up it starts wrecking and every boob is doing what they know best running away as fast as possible and after the slushi is takes a hit they lose the power of Tangerine Twist Big L resulting in a crash landing and with the slushi ass down we get the most emotional death scene in all of Cinema where slushious runs out of power and is deactivated where boys cried where men cried and after o continues to be an annoying little piece of they see a trail of smoke only a few hundred feet away and they find what's known as a gorg super chip meaning that they can fully repair slushious so yeah the whole slushious death thing was kind of a lie they pulled the JJ ABS on you however after that we go what unironically my favorite scene in the whole film to where tip and flying and see the monolithic amount of houses and people that the Boo have relocated and it's honestly a pretty cool spectacle and the song that plays here towards the Sun by Rihanna is a perfect fit and on its own it's just a banger and as o sees all the boo running away he kind of kicks into his instincts and he grabs tip and tries to make her go with him into the boo ship and we get the iconic animated film buddy breakup moment but honestly I think it's done pretty well here I guess since the music and the whole spectacle with the boo running way in the final boarding ship is honestly executed pretty well it gives the scene a lot more attention than it would otherwise and we get this honest neat part where o has to choose in a matter of seconds to run to the ship or to run after tip and try to convince her to come with him and he chooses the former as that's what he was taught his whole life and honestly I really like how he changes to all his different colors in this shot since there's so many emotions going through him in these crucial seconds it's honestly pretty well done for what it is and when he finally gets onto the Boo mother ship the gorg Mother Ship shows up and starts the assault the gorg mothership and every boo runs away except for o who sticks the gorg super chip in their computer bubble thing and he sends their ship curdling towards the stars and allows them to escape and then when our man C Captain smck tries to interrogate o the entire boo race finds out that one of their own ran towards the danger for once wowers and then o gives a generic animated movie speech about how boo bad human good and then we get the hardest shot in cinematic history [Applause] is and through a unanimous vote oh was elected as the new boo Captain persons and Kyle and O finally become friends and it's super duper epic and then we cut back to Earth where Miss yenfa Lopez sings her song Feel the light and it honestly works pretty well for how tip's unable to locate her mom and she goes to that picnic patio area thing that she saw her mom in and she's devastated that she's not there like did you really expect her to just be there she's she would have been there for like days straight my guy so she starts weeping like a stinky poooo head but then o comes in and is finally able to show tip where her mom is since I guess now he has boo Tech or whatever and we get a very emotional scene where tip reunites with Dora and it's immediately followed by o and Jesus Christ oh decides to look inside the artifact gem rock thingy which Captain smck carelessly stole from the gorg and I swear to God every time I see this shot where he opens it up I think he's just going to take a little sip out of it and finding out what's inside later it makes it very very funny but then the gorg Mother Ship comes in hot and is ready to destroy the entire planet and when they go to investigate o traps tip and my mom into the slushious and makes an epic call back tip cannot come into that out now and then he starts screaming like a goddamn Banshee stop and the gore couldn't see him so tip gives mom her Christmas present which turned out to be a homemade mirror how adorable and she uses it to shine a light into the gorg's eyeball and get his attention to look at o and after seeing he has The shusher Rock the gorg immediately stops the but it won't stop in time and we get a this really funny Freeze Frame and B this really funny shot but it's revealed that O's actually alive yippee and we get a live gorg reaction as he comes face to face with our heroes and he opens his face like sister location and we get this reveal of what the gorg actually looks like and I got to say this is one of those character designs that looks like if you touched it at all it would just start screaming in pure Agony and that thought is very funny to me and we get the grand reveal of what was in the shusher the whole time it was the entire next generation of the gorg and with that the gorg leaves and then we cutch to 2 weeks later where everything is back to normal I mean like every building in the city had to have like a massive hole in it so like they fix this in 2 weeks but then we cut to O who finally gets to have his housewarming party now featuring both Boo and human alike and we get to see a picture of tip and her mom doing the iconic DreamWorks pose and they play Dancing in the Dark again and all the best song in the movie plays all our main characters have a dance party cuz let's be real was there anything but a 100% chance was going to end in a dance party and we get to see that now most Boo live on the moon that's Goofy and we get the shot of all the gorg and his youngans which is rather swell as well as a bunch of other aliens who are coming to Earth for O's party as of course the message would have reached all other aliens throughout the Galaxy and all three of these guys look absolutely terrifying and I hate them all equally and then one final selfie ends the film and that's it that's home nearly six pages later we're finally through this hour and a half of pure adjectives to begin I want to start with the things I actually did like as I've said the music pretty much every song that's by a famous singer is an absolute Banger and I think pretty much every time one gets used it actually does work pretty well with the scene as well I think the voice acting is really good in this movie I mean besides the whole mic situation I think everybody's lines sound pretty good especially Rihanna who until recently I didn't even really know she could act that well well at least voice acting I mean I haven't seen her in anything else I don't know maybe I can eventually watch that Battleship movie uh yeah I think that's about it now onto the bad stuff the humor in this movie is not very funny unironically because ironically this movie is a gold mine like I said I'm sure you've seen the one clip where he says I erased him but there are so many shots like that in this movie that are just visually hilarious and I'm pretty sure it was not their intention also the name boo is very funny to me and then there's the general writing I mean it's a kids movie from Dreamworks in 2015 what do you want me to say here it's not like this movie is deeper and thought-provoking in many aspects it's just kind of there I sort of talked about it in the intro of the video but DreamWorks in this era was kind of a mixed bag of audiences and honestly they still kind of are like for every movie with themes that you could enjoy both when you're a kid and when you're grown-up you just had some hot baby garbage like trolls or the boss baby two but this one is just weird because it really doesn't follow either of those the writing isn't smart or clever like Shrek or How to Train Your Dragon and it's definitely not as funny as something like Mr Peabody and Sherman Sherman I've got to get you out of here before you touch yourself but I wouldn't say it's a movie for actual toddlers more like 9 to 11 year olds and I think they tried to Market this movie more so to girls rather than boys cuz I mean like you got Rihanna looking for her mom and you got all the makeup scenes and stuff like that I mean hell they released this tip doll which looks absolutely cursed back in 2015 which actually brings me on to my next point of discussion the marketing because if there's anything anyone remembers from this movie it's the fact of just how absolutely everywhere this movie was I can't think of anything that didn't have this movie plastered onto it like if you were a real one you unleashed the true power of the Denny's home promotion and you would have gotten that weird cup thing that had the boo ears I mean this is is just raw and then there's of course the widely known McDonald's promotion which I got to say was pretty mid because he literally just gave us o and all his various emotions they really thought they had something going with this whole o having multiple colors and emotions thing didn't they I know it's still better than anything McDonald shs out nowadays though uh what else is there uh there was a bunch of figures and plushes released like this iconic baby boo plush then there's of course but it seems all this was kind of in vain since it didn't really add up to a big box office total the film cost a grand total of about 135 million to make and had a worldwide return of 386 million which doesn't seem bad on paper but in reality they had to do stuff like marketing and distribution and all kinds of other stuff movies have to go through so in reality they probably just barely broke even if that so because of that this movie is kind of deemed a failure I'd assume I mean they had just come off the heels of the crudes which earned nearly 600 million worldwide eventually netting in a sequel which by the way this is what Don betterman looked like in the sequel and this is what she used to look like during the film's development I'm just I'm just laying that out there and while the crud is was both a critical and financial hit the next film Mr Peabody and Sherman had even worse results ranking in 100 million less on a similar budget so home was just kind of Meandering and led to an underperformance moving on though here's something I'm not sure many of you know about the movie was actually based on a book and the name of that book was the true meaning of smck day you see he was with us the whole time and to even entertain the thought I'm ever going to read a book so like I'm just going to assume that it's the same plot with random little changes here and there like I doubt the urinal scene made a comeback in this but the big takeaway from this whole book is the designs of the boo because you see this is what I'd call a boo this is what I'd call Satan these are genuinely some of the creepiest designs I've ever seen for a character and I don't even think this was intentional you see this this is just generic kids Design This is a demon like if you grew up with the book and the surrounding material maybe these are just what they look like to you but me these are little gremlins that are going to rip out my spinal cord when I sleep the book was written by Adam Rex and I was thinking of maybe sending him an email and seeing what he thought about the movie compared to his original Vision but then I realized that he's going to look at this video and then realize that it opens with me smashing his creation and then there's another thing I'd like to mention surrounding the film's marketing being the fact that they made this music video with yenifer Lopez which is for that song that plays when they're trying to find my mom and my God this is so unaware and so goddamn funny like you have Jennifer Lopez dancing around stars in space and stuff and then we just cut randomly to clips from the movie like this elegant supermodel lady dancing throughout space and then Boo this is the most tone dep thing I've ever seen and then later a bunch of CGI boobs start dancing with her and it's absolute gold this is so goddamn funny like did nobody watch this and think yeah this is a bit much my God and then finally the last thing I want to mention surrounding this movie and everything around it is none other than the Netflix show okay so if you don't remember for some reason it was just gospel that every single DreamWorks movie that came out needed to have some sort of animated series to go with and most of the were relegated to Netflix like for example you had dawn of the crudes a 2d animated film which is a prequel to The Original film and it has it like before all the neighbors died of the common cold or what about the Mr Peabody and Sherman show which is just more of their wacky Misadventures throughout space and time and it's supposed to be a mix of the movie's character designs as well as the original Show's art style cool Mr Peabody is voiced by Jerry God damn it because Caesar's Army is the key to your return to power all you have to do is get sees it what also when I was looking up images to research this part I found I found the logo but like it was on a white background so it just Blended in with the peab body part so it just says end the Sherman I don't know why I find this really funny but this is end the Sher but the most absolute gangster one was Turbo FAST which I remember distinctly watching as a kid and by that I mean I watched the first episode I absolutely hated it and I never watched it again I'm not even lying this is the only one I've literally seen anything of but I can pretty much guarantee you the rest are probably in the same quality sounded like voice actors simple animation and just overall not as fun or entertaining as the initial films it's just for kids who are obsessed with the movies for like a week and required some sort of supplemental material with these characters you know like when I saw turbo for the first time oh yeah U I forgot we were talking about home or whatever yeah so this show is called home The Adventures of O and tip and this art style man holy hell I don't think I have ever seen a more L cartoon in my entire life like I'm not even joking I'd rather watch problem solvers say what you want about Teen Titans Go or pony life or Primos for that matter but holy hell this is so ugly as for the show itself I mean it's a pre-teen cartoon show based off of a 2015 animated movie that did poorly at the box office it got four seasons it is the most generic ass slapstick nonsense pre-teen propaganda I've ever seen I watched it for a grand total of 5 minutes they did the Fusion Dance for some reason I hated it and now I'll never go back here's a bonus useless Sonic fact for you did you know that chakra X the guy who made Nazo Unleashed was an animator on this show yeah the guy who made this shot Tails son he was directly responsible for this Show's existence bless his soul and there you have it there's a look at dreamworks's home during this outro I'm going to be having a slideshow of random funny images I found on the internet relating to this movie so there's that comment your favorite one this is easily one of their strangest movies to date like it's not egregiously terrible but it's also not egregiously generic there's a good amount of random memorable lines here and there and actually funny quips you stole my mom my mom But as time goes on in the studio releases both bangers and stinky baby movies it seems like more and more people just treat this movie as bro thinks he was part of the team but it's really never been a more interesting time to observe DreamWorks they tried to follow in the style of Disney and create franchise after franchise in the 2010s and that really only led to varied success but with the releases of stuff like the bad guys and of course Puss and Boots too it shows that there's really still people at this company that have a lot of creative ideas they want to share and I mean hell with the way Disney's going down the shter it seems like they might actually be able to beat him this time around we'll just have to wait and see but anyway thank you guys very much very very much for
