The acting in those clips was so bad sometimes it took me a few seconds to realize it wasn't Ralph mocking them "acting" but it was the actors actually delivering their lines like that, it's insane. Looks like one of the most insulting, tasteless and terribly made pieces of garbage I've ever seen, it blows my mind that something like this can not only be made and released but also defended by its creators who exploited this real-life tragedy to sell their awful "film". Sorry for the rage but this is one of few films that I find actually offensive. Good review Ralph!

[Music] the clock is now before them converge through there are three hundred sixty-six members to select one for each birthday the year where they might leave here ceremonies we found at eight o'clock [Music] okay [Music] haunting of sharing teeth sounds pretty interesting [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Music] the haunting of Sharon Tate seriously is one of the worst films I've seen in a long time so this film literally starts with an Edgar Allan Poe quote Oh like that's it's like a joke then you're treated to a black-and-white footage of Hilary Duff trying to do Sharon Tate accent yes in fact I have I guess that's what it was and they put like just some film green like it's film so I turned on the light and that's when I saw this strange man just standing in the door frame of our bedroom and what was that cut away to the lamp so I turned on the light and that's when I saw this strange man and very death thank you [ __ ] my lips many things people had lived there before us Lillian Gish Cary Grant most recently the record producer Terry Melcher and his girlfriend Candice Bergen who were friends of ours anyway the opening credits they're showing like real-life footage of the mers news footage they show the Hilary Duff recreation of the dead body and then the fade to black this show the director's name fade to black show another title card fade to black show another title card and then you treat it to driving footage so these two driving by the way they cut to this footage like 15 times the movie still no plot has happened we we don't know anything about our characters this is supposed to be the front of the Roman Polanski mansion [Music] it's like this shitty chain-link fence I really don't think Roman Polanski lived in a [ __ ] mansion where the fronto place look like this there is another entrance into the mansion right here they show the real footage of it this is their recreation and it's the same exact fence they use for the front of the mansion it even has the same signs on it you could tell two crew members are pulling the fence this series of handheld close-up shots of them driving that are set to emotional stock music are set before the murders take place in the film and also kind of set in an alternate reality and in this reality Hilary Duff has dreams of what's going to happen in the future they never really explain why she has those dreams the film is called the haunting of Sharon Tate so well maybe it's ghosts why are ghosts telling her this I don't know is the house haunted I don't know they don't really explain that I don't know my maternal instincts kicking in I guess oh my god the cinematography is so bad they clearly put no thought into how they were gonna shoot the scene it's too [ __ ] handheld medium shots of these people talking look at this shot what is this shot supposed to be someone's watching her from the window with a shot over the shoulder I've never seen that before so then they play not Ouija board it's basically a Ouija board except that's not Hilary Duff asks if she's gonna live long happy life and the thing says no and these two give a terrible stare at each other can't you tell this is supposed to be scary the music is telling you it's scary then this scene they're playing even scarier music Hilary Duff and her friend who's also really bad actor honey with your talent and whose god-given looks you were destined to be a star decide to go on a hike in the Hollywood Hills doctor's orders remember he doesn't want you under any stress until that baby arrives so the Manson girls killed her dog followed her to her hike walked past her put the dog down on the floor and then walked away that's the thing is there any purpose to all this bloody mess and pain and horror in real life no which is why you don't make a film about it unless you have something to say so just like the rest of this movie Hilary Duff wanders into a room and she sees a whole stack of envelopes by Charlie oh god I take a look at this a TR hey feeling any better come on then you got an establishing shot out of focus moon that's just handheld guy just held it long lens all right that's good and apparently that establishing shot was so good that they use it again later in the film you could go on like stock footage comm and buy a shot of the Hollywood Hills for 30 bucks and you could just insert that into your movie and it would be better what is this music why is it playing nothing is happening aren't you scared no I'm not because there's nothing happening in the scene what is there to be scared by then this is the scene where they recreate what happened I'm not gonna show it not because it's disturbing or anything it's because YouTube is just going to monetize the video because they're gonna think this is - shopping for 10 year olds - see I think it's all part of a plot created by the government to turn us all in to conform us to keep us from questioning what's really going on with the man to keep us from thinking for ourselves think about it this guy's like an expert in just conspiracy theories loominatee he knows all that kind of stuff that's why he lives in the RV outback you know it's mostly using advertising to convince people to buy things that they don't need it's used all over the media radio TV movies music to spread messages things just starts going around the room like a [ __ ] nutjob eating nuts artificially constructed purgatory Hilary Duff goes outside to find the dude he's got his throat slit oh no what it's actually a dream again another dream and then the guy's like oh my god what happened in the dream is it like what's gonna happen right now and then he leaves the cabin and he's about to get his throat slit by the Manson's who were coming in but then Hilary Duff Hilary Duff sees this she runs out goes in his car and then says to drive what this idiot backs up into a fence I guess that wooden fence really [ __ ] up the back of his car you know the trunk where nothing is it's not like that it hit the front of the car where there's an engine we've had a lot of films about Charles Manson recently we were just graced with Tarantino's Once Upon a Time in Hollywood which offer us an alternative view which offered us an alternative view of history we had bad times at the El Royale which incorporated Charles Manson like elements into its new and creative story we have mined higher we have documentaries about Charles Manson which offer us what actually happened with facts and then we have a total piece of [ __ ] that is exploring the suffering of innocent people I understand this is a low-budget film and comparing it to films like once upon time in Hollywood where the budget is almost 100 million dollars is unfair I'm someone who's somewhat experienced in low-budget schlock Hey lay off man I'm not gay but even by those standards I think this film is just terrible just because this film has a lower budget than this film doesn't mean I should expect less of a film meanwhile films like blue ruin upstream color and bring it on worldwide hashtag Cheers smack prove that you can make good films with very little money you can tell compelling stories with very limited resources let's not pretend lesbionic Lisa or big Tina hasn't slipped a digit or two I lost time virgin either way the film's problems just go so far beyond how technically bad it is the story makes no sense at all all of the characters are paper-thin there's no like plot progression or stakes or rising action it's just a series of scenes of these people existing and then Hilary Duff has some dreams about what's gonna happen in the future and she's like and she does nothing about it okay they were in this house there was a man and there was two women and they had a gun and they had knives and they came here to kill us all Sharon stop it I understand that you're under a tremendous strain and that you're upset Roman is not here but this is just starting to sound like you're crazy the dialogue is on the nose and terrible and then the the use of real-world suffering in it to just be emotionally manipulative because nothing in the film would make you care about these characters it's just terrible it exploits suffering from just real people who went through something horrible to emotionally invest the audience in characters that are so bad and they're just regurgitating this [ __ ] awful dialogue that's the den thing in my refrigerator what that thing right there the dead animal right I just saw it it was right there are you two telling me that I'm seeing things that aren't there so I tried doing some research in the library I couldn't find the budget the movie didn't make a lot of money I know that did you think I've gone mad none at all sweetie no I don't know Daniel Farren's personally but if I'm gonna guess his mindset it's probably the same mindset he has with his next film the murder of Nicole Brown Simpson which is he's just gonna exploit a real tragedy so that he can make a crappy movie and sell it off of the whoa look how edgy my title is look how edgy my film is this is super interesting stuff but really the film has no leg to stand on because there's no talent involved with the making of this film Daniel Farren's tries to do with the revisionist history thing a lot like another film which I mentioned oh no my light here he changes the ending so that the the Manson's who attacked Sharon Tate and her friends actually survived the encounter not only is it just so poorly executed you have a scene earlier in the film in which Hilary Duff dreams of the actual murders that took place and you see them recreated in like totally incompetent fashion CGI blood it's terrible acting you might as well face it right now the people making this movie are just recreating a thing that actually happened that was just probably horrific to live through and they make like a mockery out of it it's insulting and pathetic literally making the audience go through horrific things that really happened all for the point of nothing there's no purpose to any of the violence shown in this film there's no deeper thematic things going on like in the other films I talked about bad times at the El Royale talking about Vietnam political corruption with like John F Kennedy it was like an amalgamation of the 70s and same thing with Once Upon a Time in Hollywood do you think that we were slaves to our own destiny this again so on top of being a crappy tasteless horror film it also tries to have some deep message about fate and destiny what if I hadn't have been at that exact place on that exact day do you know what I mean there are constant scenes in which Hilary Duff and her friends go on about fate do you think it's possible to alter the course of our fate or is our story just our book written before were even born I guess a movie speak it means we can rewrite our own scripts nothing is set in stone what if I was born in a different time or other large ins of our own story for who knows probably forever it's a bet on the intellectual level of a bunch of hippies smokin pot philosophizing around a campfire it's such a pathetic and desperate attempt to try to mean something when really this is just a tasteless crappy horror film they don't actually have anything to say about destiny it's like yeah in this movie things work out differently but at the very end of the film they don't because Hilary sees her alternate self that's dead as not inception music plays I'd like to be a fairy princess [Music] who thought the rest of this movie was bad the last five to ten minutes of this film are [ __ ] terrible it's literally just slow-motion shots of them walking [Music] it clearly wasn't meant to be slow-motion they just did it in post because they had to pad this movie out to be feature-length they reused dialogue from 45 minutes ago do you think it's possible to alter the course of our fate or is our story just our book written before we're even born we're probably living on different versions of our own story for who knows probably forever then hilary duff walks over to the house and she sees the dead bodies from the alternate timeline where Hilary Duff and her friends are killed what why and daniel Farren's you're such a smart director this scene goes on forever yeah like shots to the trees okay great slow-motion shot of her okay she's walking away great is the movie over there's no more information I'm getting out of this okay she's walking off frames oh it's still going it's still going it's still going all right it's over thank God now I can just go oh god it's not over yet I thought that was the last shot when is this gonna end I'd probably always go great is it over now I don't blame the actors entirely of course because when everyone is bad in a film it's usually the directors fault but these performances leave a lot to be desired the biggest standout is of course Hilary Duff I know I've made fun of a lot so far but she's easily the worst performance in the movie this faux Sharon Tate voice she's trying to do doesn't work at all I guess it was what you were just saying like how the simplest of choices can affect the entire outcome of our lives and she should have just done her own thing or practiced harder to get that voice right what do you want I'm the devil I couldn't even begin to like direct these scenes because they make no sense the dialogue is so bad like you're pregnant why would you go outside and the mountains at night looking for your [ __ ] dog like who cares isn't your friend gonna mention that Sharon there's no way she stays outside at night all the time some friend you are what kind of response is that he stays outside at night all the time he stays outside at night all the time he ran off the property he does that all the time I know you're upset I'm the one to blame here I should've brought the dog inside maybe you should have what I keep coming back to this scene you have done nothing but turn this house upside down and allow God knows who on our property but it's just so pointlessly long and repetitive she keeps asking who charlie is like over and over Harley sweetie you had a nightmare now someone tell me who the hell this Charlie is because I am not staying here any longer not for one more goddamn day the scene goes on forever and I guess in editing they could have cut most of this stuff out but when you got a pad a movie out two feature-length I guess that's not the way you're thinking huh mr. editor oh my god these two they have like no chemistry at all with the gotas couple did I forget to mention Sharon goes into labor in the last act of the movie they like never mention it again after the scene she never acts like she's in labor she's like running around the house I guess they just forgot you don't know anything about any of these people and they have no camaraderie because none of them have a personality just think back to some of your favorite horror films all those characters usually have some kind of dynamic with each other even if they're totally cliche like a lot of eighties slasher movies have a lot of the same characters they're all just kind of happy and living their lives in the Hollywood Hills you know with their Lamborghinis and bookshelves well what do I want from characters like this well let's pull up a good example from a classic piece of entertainment that takes place in LA [Music] like The Fresh Prince of bel-air I know it's a comedy sitcom but you know look at all these different characters they all but you had a character like Will Wright who was supposed to contrast the rich people Carlton was like an exuberant enthusiastic gay man which contrasted with wills very laid-back cool attitude and you know Uncle Phil was the man of the house but sometimes even he lost his temper confuse with your mama I don't know where I'm going with this patronize [Music] [Music] so above all this I think this film was supposed to be a horror film like I'm supposed to be scared during it but I wasn't scared at all the portrayal of the three Manson's who went into the house and try to kill Hilary Duff are so over-the-top like cartoonish little pigs [Music] there's this scene where the girl is standing outside the window and it's supposed to be a jump-scare they're not scary at all all of the references to the real-life story such as names and addresses films she has been in I really enjoyed your working valley of the dolls it doesn't feel organic or part of the story it feels very forced in like they play Manson's music in the movie they portray people like Texas super intimidating Jason Voorhees asks serial killers like oh look how scary this is oh pregnant little starlet he's got some fun by presenting the Manson's in this way you were giving in to exactly what they wanted people to think of them we don't need a stupid piece of fiction presenting these people in this way you want to portray them as buffoons and comically beat them or I kill one of them by throwing a can of dog food at him fine I prefer that this sucks though Daniel fairings is just a really bad director he can't get good performances out of his actors there's no story or plot or characters to connect to their tasteless and boring apparently Sharon Tate's sister wasn't too happy about this film I wonder why but regardless is how she felt about the film and Daniel fairings when asked about it Sharon Tate sister had said some terrible things that she evidently doesn't really understand and this movie is nothing like what she's saying is it it's not and here's the thing you know listen I I can't from moment you know just her feelings you know she I don't think anybody's went through what she and her family's been through you know and have the saddle of the same thing over there live the way it has available in 50 years that cannot be thrilling interesting it's a horror you know that that can't be described and and I am okay I think you know me enough to know I'm a very very sensitive person and this story here's an interesting thing my mother was pregnant with me at the same time Sharon was pregnant with her baby would that seem Wow but seriously I don't think this guy was trying to make an offensive film [Music] the thing is if this film had been good and portrayed Sharon Tate in some respectful way then there would be no reason to be upset but the film is so lazily put together and clearly wants to capitalize off of this gruesome true story there is not a single aspect to like about this film literally everything about it is incompetent lazy and bad no she's not sober in that shot is anyone huh in conclusion the hunting of Sharon Tate might just be one of the worst films I've ever seen poorly written technically incompetent embarrassingly acted tasteless lazy just a total piece of crap basically in every way don't you ever think about how our smallest decisions can somehow change the course of everything [Music] [Music] [Music] you [Music]
