The FATE of the "PIMP MY RIDE" Van

well here it is the famous pimp my ride van so ridiculous now it's coming home and i don't know what should i do with it welcome to hoovy's garage the dumbest automotive channel in all of youtube and we're actually not in hoovey's garage we're in a facility that someone is kind enough to let me borrow for overflow parking for my hoopties it's a hanger on an airstrip it's actually pretty cool i may give you a tour of it someday but not this video because if you're looking for a little van on van action you have come to the right place now to give some background about a year ago freddie tavares hernandez showed up with a surprise christmas gift and that gift was a minivan that was featured in pimp my ride over 10 years ago that had been sitting abandoned somewhere in the northeast for a long time freddie restored it drove it cross country and gave it to me it was such an honor that i couldn't wait to get rid of it and really i didn't get rid of it i actually loaned it to the midwest dream car collection in manhattan kansas where it's been on display for a year but now they're ready for me to come get it they're getting other displays coming in some other cars and they would like me to clean it out conveniently i had just recently purchased this 2016 chevrolet express van 2500 that was converted by explorer company this is their limited se and it is decked out to the nines it is basically the modern version of a pimp my ride van only done with a lot more quality and practicality a nine passenger van i absolutely love this thing and apparently it's a great tower as well they can tow eight nine thousand pounds comfortably in their cargo van spec this one's been converted it has a lot of heavy stuff added to it so i imagine that's a little lower but still good enough to haul a pimp my ride van so first we're going to pick up a trailer for my friend urination bob and then we're going to drive to manhattan kansas pick up the van i haven't seen it for a year and then decide what its fate should be i really don't know i need your help with this so let's hit the road i forgot to mention we're doing this while kansas has become a frozen arctic tundra and this van is actually two wheel drive now you can get these explorer conversion vans in diesel gasoline you can even get them to convert it to four-wheel drive like the old express fans back in the day that they don't make anymore they just buy the parts and make them into four-wheel drive vans but they say it's not necessary because these things are so heavy and i certainly get that argument because look at this thing it is massive and filled with seats and carpet and paneling in a giant television so there is quite a bit to keep this van way down hopefully we don't have any problems but first we got to go to my friend urination bob and pick up that trailer well isn't this service oh jeez thanks bob yeah all right yep got to get to be on the road here are you interested in my pimp my ride van no not at all no not at all well that option's out yeah yeah somebody will love it though somebody will love it let's get this little you're taking a if only hooby would come out in the snow and the ice with a two-wheel drive van it's fine go fetch a car it's got stability stability as we get on the highway with this empty trailer i can't help but think how amazing this van is why i didn't get one of these years ago because it is so smooth and comfortable and these seats are fantastic i can't feel the trailer back there right now which i shouldn't it's aluminum and it's unloaded these things are so good it really surprises me that more people don't buy these over yukons or escalades or suburbans because oh it's it's so much better so much better as i cruise up to manhattan to pick up another pim-tastic van well that's very appropriate but the dream car collection is still open to the public and there's doug hey tyler how's it going good man how's it going good to see you wow it has been a while so uh i'm here to collect the bell your ball here the pit my ride van your favorite how are we going to do without that you know it has been a popular event it is your most valuable vehicle i hate to do it you know you know you put you took it off of this and put up a hammy cuda which uh you know hate to disappoint people but i guess it's time for it to come home so there's some new additions here we have got some new additions we just uh we've got some new lone vehicles like the 70 dodge hemi and we just took this one in this week it's a 1909 emf which stands for everett metzler and flanders wow that is brass era brass there beautiful goodness wow this car belongs to the ruggles family down in wichita loaned it to us and he restored this just finished it a couple years ago did a miraculous job yes had to make over 100 parts for it that no longer were around including forming the wood body out of it that it deteriorated away yeah awesome i feel like i need that model t track snow track car it does look different you do rotate around what's in in the showroom i suppose yes we do got the hudson here this is we just purchased wow came from a collection in elkhart indiana 1951 hudson hornet brown they only made 551 of the convertibles wow this has the twin h power engine in it which is pretty cool oh yeah straight eight dual carve no carb that is quite an intake there huh well oh hell a blast from the past here the former curator actually you've you've since retired in your advanced age yes i have yeah what are you doing now making cakes making cakes he's gone in a cake business he's it's it's he's moved on i suppose he left me in the cars to go make cakes yeah i mean you gotta do what you gotta do where's my van is it in the back okay i'm procrastinating because i do not want to go out in the cold and load this thing but oh the the tow truck's new too look at that monster gentlemen into peaky kansas my name is he's a metal fabricator and he makes custom vehicles it looks like a cartoon it does drew memories memories did you forget that we made a video together on this car oh yeah yeah see i did forget it completely forgot i am not very memorable too well there's the jeep that is the jig i haven't seen it for a while so you have it in the back we put it in the back to put we had to put some christmas decorations up in front and then with covid you know it's fun for kids to climb and even adults like climbing in it but with covid we can't let people get into cars right now so we put it away for the season but we'd like to put it back out yeah looks like it's leaking a little bit of something sorry well here it is the famous pimp my ride van it's so ridiculous so they took a 99 plymouth voyager and put on the wheels the body kit but they really went nuts on the inside the denim interior the bead making station a tv foot rest just absolutely crazy and i had no idea what to do with it once freddie gave it to me so i decided well let's just put it in the museum for a while but uh now it's coming home and i don't know what should i do with it i don't know about that but i'm gonna come up with something yeah it's right there you're okay over here good am i good whoa nice good icy trailer the car won't slide at all will it all right merged onto the highway and this thing this thing is made to tow but i don't see why it wouldn't be made of toe it's on a three-quarter ton chassis yes it is a heavy fan but it's got a sturdy six liter vortec engine great transmission with tow mode and this thing will just it just cruises i can definitely feel the trailer back there but uh way better than the jeep gladiator that i had before when it comes to towing and if i get tired i can fold down the bed and have a nap or watch a movie and that's something you can't get in a cadillac escalade or a three-quarter ton pickup truck and you can't buy a three-quarter ton suburban anymore so it just perpetuates my argument for these conversion vans being so much better than most luxury suv offerings this thing is just awesome now as for the pit my ride van i know i promised my daughter that i would keep it for so she could drive it to high school i have a feeling when she reaches driving age she will not want to drive that van to high school but we have a little issue i can't sell it in its current state because uh it came with no title i guess freddie bought it on a bill of sale out of rhode island or something that's how they do things there and no title no tags no way for me to sell it for any kind of money so i either need to go through the process of getting a title so i can auction off for charity or give away or i don't know that way somebody could register or actually use it or just give it to somebody as is if they want it as a static display in a museum or something i'm not just going to give it away to some random somebody i've got to pay it forward somehow but getting a title is going to cost a thousand dollars or more did it slide something felt something felt odd there like the van just slid on the trailer i have to check it hang on that felt weird nope it's good it didn't fall off anyway where was i what am i gonna do with this van i'm not gonna keep it i'm gonna figure out a way to sell it probably get a title for it and uh and move it on somewhere else either auction it off for charity or find a really really good home for it where other people can see and enjoy this this crazy crazy van thank you for watching you
