welcome to movies garage the dumbest automotive channel in all of YouTube and after nearly four years and hundreds of videos half of which are probably not worth watching I now have 1 million subscribers thank you so much for following me and a million of you have now followed this channel and I am humbled and honored and and very surprised honestly and today we are going to go over 10 of my favorite moments from movies garage I'm also gonna tell you which car of the 20 or so that I own now is my favorite the car that I walk out look in the garage didn't think we're taking that one and it is one that I do a lot and it's not my most expensive car it's not my cheapest car it's definitely not my nicest car but it's the one that I'd like the most so now let's get into my favorite moments and there have been a lot of moments some good some bad but these are 10 of my favorites no particular order chronologically or in order of favorites and we're going to start today with the first appearance of the car wizard now the subject matter of this video really isn't my favorite because it's when ILS swapped my Porsche 911 which was a terrible decision cost way too much money ruin the car I broke it shortly after that and then just just dumped it for a massive loss but it is the first video where I introduced my mechanic David and I wasn't even calling him the car wizard yet and as you'll see his on-camera presence well he wasn't exactly a fish to water when it comes to you tubing you're standing here staring at me there but before my Porsche motor is yanked and shipped off I wanted to do a little automotive CSI to figure out what happened a lot of people think the symptoms are classic of an IMS bearing failure which if that's the case there would be a lot of metal shavings caught up in the oil filter if there's a bunch of plastic pieces cut up in there then it might be a new time chain tensioner and my chain is scraping away the plastic guide rails so I got David here and we're going just just dead stares at the camera he can't look away it's like he's a serial killer and obviously he's improved very much over the years that was nearly three years ago when we filmed that he now has his own YouTube channel with almost 300,000 subscribers and he's great on camera with me and I've improved a lot as well I started out just reading from paper glued to the camera taped to the Amrish tripod and it's kind of why I sounded like a news anchor or a game show host early on because I was literally reading from this paper kind of like it was a kind of like it was a script I had no off-the-cuff skills at all so the early videos are pretty cringy for me to watch but despite my horrible delivery method where I am reading from paper and editing in Windows Movie Maker which hadn't been updated in 10 years I didn't have one early video go viral it's my first viral video and before this point I was making maybe 10 15 dollars a day and a good day on YouTube and this one really surprised me my 2007 Mercedes s600 it was my one year ownership report I bought this thing for $4,500 with a bad engine put a used v12 engine in it and fixed a bunch of different things where I was $14,000 into this beautiful 2007 s600 less than 10% of his original purchase price and I showed you everything about it why I loved it so much and for some reason it took off but it didn't take off the first day I posted it on a Friday and Saturday it started to do better and then Sunday this was Super Bowl Sunday in 2017 it took off like a rocket and now has almost 5 million views and I gained tens of thousands of subscribers just just from that weekend it it was crazy and it made me think well maybe there's something to this YouTube so I kept going and started buying more and more cars and that's where things well really went downhill my next favorite moment was a car that really didn't do well I bought a 1983 Chrysler LeBaron Town & Country convertible and I wanted a car with no rust this guy had 22 of them out on the East Coast he told me this thing was rust free it showed up with a bunch of rust so bad it was totally it was a complete disaster and there was no point in fixing it the only thing I could think of was just digging a hole in burying it which is exactly what I did the wizard let me dig a hole in his land and we drove it into the hole and then we pushed all the dirt on top of it and we waited a year before we dug it up it looked like a disaster but it actually turned over and started the fact that it turned over just absolutely shocks me and the next car we put down there a Land Rover we had record rain that year and it was basically buried in muddy water up to the ceiling and and it didn't start Freddie came from Florida to try and get it started it didn't happen now the next car on my list of favorite moments is my 2005 rolls-royce fan and purchase I had gone to Chicago many times because I have family up there and I saw this beautiful dealership on the Magnificent Mile in Chicago and never thought that I would be able to buy a car from there let alone a rules Royce Phantom but I did the cheapest rolls-royce phantom in the USA and despite being at the fanciest dealership in the country it was an absolute hoopty it had warning lights all over the place all kinds of issues cosmetic and mechanical but it was still just an amazing experience and it went viral it was shared all over the place including on websites like worldwide hip hop to see what hip hop people thought of me and my car purchase was quite funny but just the experience of buying that car and driving at home having a rolls-royce phantom was a huge purchase it was just a big deal for me now let's get back to real hope these and another one of my favorite memories is recovering my 2004 city's ML 55 AMG after it was stolen I was about to sell the car so I was having it detailed at a detail shop and it was stolen out of there the keys were in it and they just drove off in the car disappeared now things got crazy when I got myself on the news and told everybody to be on the lookout for my Braun AMG Mercedes SUV pretty much the only one like it in town yes so a local car guy has a collection of cars he calls the hooptie fleet and it was spotted police found it there's no hot pursuit and then abandoned in a field and when I say abandoned they actually drove it several yards into a field of trees used it as a bulldozer and amazingly the car wasn't that damaged mowing over trees really thick and just a few scratches little minor things and it was back on the road I was still able to sell it really goes to show how tough an old Mercedes is and while I didn't have to sell it for less money since it was damaged in kind of a theft recovery it's since got millions and millions of views and pay for the car and then some and in these videos talking about it being stolen and getting it back it's just so weird next on my list was quite an adventure I bought a Lexus Land Cruiser for only $2,300 and I had over 300,000 miles on it and I spent way too much money building it into the ultimate expedition rig and then I immediately almost ruined this ultimate expedition rig by testing out the snorkel that I put on it by driving it basically into a lake when rock crawling drove her some big blogs but it really wasn't challenging enough so I decided to cross the stream without really knowing how deep it was [Music] all right water is coming in the cabin come on come on baby Oh water is pouring in yeah but despite that moment and the water in the floors and in the doors it survived the only thing that really got ruined from that was the speaker amplifier the radio amplifier that was underneath the passenger seat we replaced that vacuum out the car and really it was fine it lasted for quite a while before I sold it and it's still going today as far as I know those things really are indestructible and speaking of indestructible what wasn't indestructible was my 2005 Toyota Prius normally a pretty sturdy car but I decided to make mine into a tribute of the fast and the furious Supra and it was absolutely hilarious but it was missing one key component and that was nitrous I decided to try out the nitrous on the Prius when it was raining outside and the traction control I couldn't turn it off and well disaster ensued which me you need some nitrous and button whoa oh Jesus one second of nitrous put multiple holes through the block of the engine now I didn't kill the car I got a used engine despite the priest being totally worthless and I fixed it and sold it on to another youtuber daily driven exotics who sold it to another youtuber and it's out in California driving all around Southern California I even went to some of the places where they filmed the fast and the furious which is just absolutely hilarious with some of the cast members of the original Fast and Furious movie which is even more hilarious Hector and Jesse wrote in that thing I just can't believe it it's one of those one of those crazy pinch myself moments kind of like this garage being able to build my dream garage is another favorite moment of mine over the years as you can see behind me I have this beautiful been packed lift this garage I bought this house and as a normal kind of oversized 3-car garage but we did this edition to pull things way back here and been pack I really wanted to work with them to put in this crazy lift that looks like the cars are floating on platforms and not only that they work with me they gave this to me and it's just incredible I had to film a montage of loading the cars up on the lifts for the first time because it's like playing with Hot Wheels only full-size stacking them up like you're putting them away on a shelf and really just just a total pinch myself a moment so everything so far has been pretty self-indulgent it's about me and my cars and doing things with my cars and really I haven't done enough giving back on who fees garage but there was one time at Christmas where I spread a little holiday cheer and help with my hoopty buying addiction by spending five thousand dollars buying cars from strangers but then letting them keep the money and the cars 14 well tell you what this is one of my favorite cars of all time the Grand Marquis that the Panther platform the town car the Crown Vic yeah but I don't really need one but I kind of want to just own one in spirit yeah I know I just want to own one in spirit so in spirit I want to own this car but I also just I want you to keep it but I'll in spirit I'll own it you can keep the money you can keep the car the title I just want to own it in spirit that's cool with you so you keep the car keep the car in title money and I'll just own it in spirit is that Alright every single car went to look at definitely wasn't as advertised they had bullet holes in them they were wrecks or the transmission was slipping or sometimes the sellers didn't even show up to just show me the cars but I gave them money and bought the cars anyway and then got to do a little mini review with them why I like them why they're special why they're not so special and then just just gave the cars back and it was so funny and fun and I really should do more things like that maybe when people actually want to be within six feet of you and you can actually interact so sometime down the road any idea what the check engine light on for uh need an alternate alternate it's really been sitting for life for months I said and so that's nine out of my 10 favorite moments so far with who B's garage and I said I didn't really have a favorite a particular order but this one definitely is my favorite my tenth favorite moment is telling you about my first car my 1985 Mercedes 500sl that was given to me by my grandmother and I got to start driving this thing when I'm 16 years old it's what started my car hobby and it's a really special car let me let me show you'll turn the camera around so here it is a car that I've been driving for nearly 20 years there's a really special euro-spec 500 SL as I described in the video this is different from the US cars this has the slimmer bumpers a 5 liter rally aluminum v8 as opposed to the crappy 3.8 liter v8 that had no power and the giant bumpers that look like park benches so there's fun to tell you about my first car that I really do love this thing but even better was to share a moment with you all with me and my grandmother the person who bought this car new in 1985 and gave it to me last he could happily spend on your pants yes yesterday it's been three building yep so did your pants drop in front of everybody here this is I just can't believe it yeah well they're probably old well throws everything out God we're filming now yeah just act natural so yeah all of YouTube gets to hear about your pants falling have you heard of YouTube yeah we were best friends and we traveled the world together she heard on the radio one day that the best gift you can give your grandkids is to take them traveling take them places don't give him a toy that they're gonna forget about him throw away in a few weeks and that's exactly what she did for my 10th birthday she took me to the 1996 Olympics later she took me to Alaska Australia New York City Washington DC and as I got older and could travel for myself I still took her along places we went to New Orleans we went to Vegas together we did Colorado a lot of times because I like to ski and she just loved the mountains and not only was she my best friend that took me all over the world she was my biggest cheerleader she was there for every single important moment in my life up until the birth of my son two months ago and for one month there were four generations of who visa Hoover's and one month ago today she died and it's been really hard I was there every day for the last three weeks of her life until the night that she left this world I was there holding her hand and if I have one regret from doing this YouTube thing is it's that I got so busy these last three years between the Freddy's business and the YouTube and the reality show I just decided that I was too busy to spend as much time as I used to spend with her and now that we're here two million subscribers I just think this is the first thing this first moment that I've had in my life this first big occasion that I can't share with her and and I would give up everything just to go for one more ride in this car with her yes sir I didn't mean to take this sad but it's just the truth so we'll move on now to what is now my favorite car in my hoopty fleets my some 20 cars and no it's not this if I had a sentimental attachment it'd be this car it's never going anywhere but it's not my favorite car to drive I don't I don't get it out that often and when I do now it's just kind of an emotional experience but there's one car in the garage that I go to so often just like I'm taking that and and we'll just go over to it [Music] yeah my favorites not the Phantom pretty close I love land yachts nor is it either of the Lamborghinis and although they are very fancy and fun if this 1990 Ferrari 348 the exhaust note is amazing but it's not that it's not fast by any means and it certainly is empty I mean look at the seats though the house carpet the the paint job but it's perfect for me because I can drive this thing without fearing that it's gonna get another little ding or another scratcher you know I let it it outside in the rain and just gets ruined to deepal you did it the cheap $35,000 Ferrari so less than a fully loaded Camry for a beautifully running and driving Ferrari with 100,000 miles shifter too and it's just perfectly embodies what I wanted to be Suraj to be cars that you never thought would be attainable but that's really they are but really shoot you own them and in the case of the Ferrari 348 it has been absolutely wonderful that's mostly because the previous owners had boast the pain rebuilding the transmission twice going through this thing to where I've had over six months of just total enjoyment but it's not just those reasons that explain why this Ferrari 348 is my favorite car and it goes much deeper much much deeper [Music] ha so not only is this car incredibly fun to drive and just gorgeous to look at and it encapsulate the mission of who he's garage perfectly if there is a mission it's also a total dream fulfilled when I was little I had every single scale model of the Ferrari 348 you could get it was my favorite car and it was the first exotic car that I ever had a chance to drive my dad surprised me with a rental of one in Las Vegas when I was a teenager so I've always loved this car and because of you all watching and subscribing I owned one and had a lot of other dream cars and I appreciate it so much now I am incredibly fortunate to be where I am at a million subscribers and a lot of it was complete luck it started with me meeting Jeremy Clarkson the top gear trio when they first started the Grand Tour got to be at their taping met them I was able to get my foot in the door writing articles for Jalopnik and that led me to connect with Doug tomorrow and move with him to autotrader.com slash oversteer start making videos and then riding his coattails into a different level of YouTube and going from there and if there's one thing you all could do before I go I feel like I need to pay it forward there's three friends of mine that live here in Wichita that are also making a go at YouTube they've been doing it for years some of them longer than me and I really think they deserve a chance for you guys to watch so if you can go to their channels and subscribe to them watch a couple videos give some feedback the first one is Elliott Alvis if you're missing my previous content he has a 2nd gen Prius that he does hilarious videos on he also has a hellcat the second one is 100% Jake he has a Honda Insight with a manual transmission that he's fixing up along with motorcycles really funny guy and the third one is velocity garage Mike he details a lot of my cars and he does a lot of in-depth kind of petrol Isha's style videos with some amazing vehicles so check them out and of course thank you so much for watching really thank you so much [Music]
Keep the videos coming Hoovie! Always fun to watch!
