labor family what is up it is art and Bobby back at the grocery store for a whole year towards diabetics I recently saw a stat that's said by the year 2050 one out of three people in the USA will have type-2 diabetes and that scared them but jeepers out of me because that's unsustainable it's unsustainable from a health care standpoint it's unsustainable for my financial standpoint and you know what I understand why it's happening you go in the grocery store any grocery store and the stuff in there is a minefield of horrible food we're talking about sugars combined with starches and bad fats that is a recipe and a bad recipe to get diabetes so I thought we'd go to Target because we want to mix it up we haven't been here in a while and show you some of the healthiest food you can eat if you're pre-diabetic or diabetic and by healthy I mean low sugar I mean not getting hit by this car right here is doing something illegal and eating whole grains right so before we go inside you know the drill like subscribe share all those lovely things but we have so much content going live every single week you're going to want to push the bell icon right below the video that way you get a push on your mobile device as soon as we go alive all right let's get in there and do our thing for our diabetic family let's start out and yogurt yogurt is good for people with diabetes because it can now reduce your risk of heart disease and improve your blood sugar regulation the thing is not all yogurt is created equally we'll start with what you really want to be looking at something like Greek yogurt but it's really interesting because if you compare Greek yogurt to regular yogurt there's a very big differences so first look at the regular yogurt how many grams of natural sugar in the milk nine grams we look at the Greek yogurt 5 grams how many grams of protein 16 how many grams in the regular here 6 so there's a big difference why because Greek yogurt is strained when you strained a couple things happen number when you're getting rid of a lot of new lactose what lives in lactose the sugar less sugar in Greek yogurt you're also intensifying the protein more protein in Greek yogurt that's very important because when you eat yogurt that has good fat and protein that combined together it's a Sheetz your hunger it's really good now here's the deal you should be eating organic because it the metal nutritional profile but I don't want you eating 0% fat try to always eat full fat plain dairy because that's a good fat good omega-3 fatty acids good conjugated linoleic acid so they don't have it here at Target but I would get Stonyfield organic Greek whole milk or organic whole milk anything like that now even if you're gonna go for something that has lower sugar here Waldo alright while those gone now if you're gonna pick up something that's lower in sugar don't be fooled this is the less sugar Chobani and sure there is less sugar here there's how much added sugar here there's two nine total and five grams of added sugar but you guys a lot of people don't think about what five grams is five grams is over one teaspoon of a white cane sugar added here you do not need that add your own stevia had your own monk fruit or there is one and only one that is lower sugar here and it's this stuff it's called too good and you don't have missed in the past if non-gmo so even though it's not organic the cows eat a non GMO feed and what I do like about it is that there's only two grams of sugar that are natural with zero included which is very important they do add natural flavors which I don't like still you're much better off getting your own organic or grass-fed whole milk strain yogurt adding your own zero calorie sweetener like monk food and that's a decent second option but full fat is where it's at it's a really good for you this target is always super freezing art and I are shivering here but it's worth it because right here I'm gonna talk about healthy saturated fats like eggs and yes I said healthy saturated fats don't let the establishment demonize saturated fats because stuff like pasture-raised eggs are not only good for everyone it's really good for people with diabetics because it helps your insulin and sensitivity and it reduces inflammation really really important so what do I mean by that well foods like pasture-raised eggs are healthy saturated fats from birds that are free to forage and actually when you have pasture-raised eggs we talked about this a million times the nutritional profile is higher than conventional eggs and saturated fats are good for your body they coat the myelin sheath in your body and they were inflamation a lot of people think about eggs I think oh my god my cholesterol is going to spike off the chart it's my opinion and many others that actual cholesterol is not caused by saturated fat it's caused from inflammation in your body when you have inflammation your body sends cholesterol there and that spikes the count but if you don't have inflammation you're closed oh it's gonna be under control so inflammatory foods like starches and sugars will cause inflammation but healthy saturated fats are non inflammatory gopher pasture is right now there's a sale it's $4.99 for the organic dozen vital farms the same exact one right now are on sale for 550 at Whole Foods so it goes to show you that if you're a Whole Foods shopper like me usually you're gonna pay more because they know you have the money this is a great deal until when is the 215 so I would run over here but don't be the kind of person who just eats egg whites because you know what's in egg whites none of the good nutrition most of the nutrition of my friends is in the egg yolk actually the egg white has a lot of inflammatory properties which is why if you follow me on instagram Flav City we don't give egg whites to our daughter Rose we only give her and yolks because we don't want her having that inflammation from that and that's where all the good stuff is in the yolks so don't hate on pasture-raised eggs don't hate on grass-fed butter because these are good saturated fats that are great for diabetics and really great for everyone we talk a lot about cooking oils on this channel but something that I don't talk too much about is that the bad cooking oils the wrong cooking oils are actually inflammatory and what do we say earlier inflammatory foods cause your cholesterol to spike because they go to the source of inflammation so what's in a matauri oil check it out we come to these like the agricultural oils if you pick up any kind of vegetable oil soybean oil corn oil safflower oil these are highly processed a lot of people don't realize that canola oil will take the plants they'll extract them at super high temperatures and super high heat and pressure so they all of the oil out of the plant when you do that you actually alter the fatty acid this kind of oil is inflammatory which you really have to be leery of when you have diabetes or you're pre-diabetic I would not ever cook with canola oil sometimes in prepackaged products we talked about expeller pressed canola oil being okay but what what that's all right are things I'm done I'm never done so what oil is do we cook with we cook with avocado oil are we cook with olive oil we cook with coconut oil and we cook with avocado oil right so avocado oil and olive oil are a health monounsaturated facts that are high in oleic acid oleic acid is really good at lowering your bad cholesterol and raising the good one the HDL way better than the other stuff and even though coconut oil it be demonized in the process of being a bad saturated fat it falls under the category of like pasture-raised eggs it's a good saturated fat that's high in something very rare called lauric acid that's incredibly heart healthy and good at lowering your bad cholesterol so how would get extra virgin coconut oil it's really really important you can go ahead you have to wait for us yeah small aisle here at Target I don't hold people up if you're at the store and you want to know what kind of challah moil to get anyone from California it's really good and anyone from Luchini is really good right these are good supermarket brands but be careful of the cheap ones like this right this is a market pantry one those are usually blended oils that are very inferior and low-quality from different parts around the world you want a good olive oil to cook with and to finish with get the big jug into Costco get the major of avocado oil at Costco and get the big jug of coconut oil Costco moral of story these are good or else Marla story you want to save money go to Costco all right let's finish the video over here because there was an insane amount of employees or Waldo's as we called them in the middle aisles we could not shoot anymore we're in the store looks little cafe here and of course the security wall those are behind those but we got to do our thing we're gonna talk about greens and if you're gonna eat Whole Grains they got to be Whole Grains complex carbohydrates because that's what you really want to eat right so we think of something like pasta you probably know you don't want to eat your basic pasta it's either gonna be made with enriched wheat or this basically here says semolina wheat or durum wheat that's just the kind of wheat it is but it's a simple starch it's not a whole grain its enriched wheat or cracked wheat those are not brains that are whole there's stripped down so all the nutrition is taken away so they actually have no nutrition high on the glycemic index spike your blood sugar have ton of carbs and no nutrition so you probably know you want to trade out of that but there's quite a few options you can go to but before you go to anything else don't think just because you're eating gluten-free it's gonna be low on the glycemic index because 10 times out of or nine times out of 10 the filler there is gonna be very simple carbohydrates like corn flour rice flour this even has a preservative called mono and diglycerides which is a derivative of trans fatty acids but you'll often times find that with gluten-free products they all have a rice white rice and potato and tapioca and stuff like that but to spike your blood sugar so luckily these days there's a lot of being pasta this is bonza it's mainly chickpeas here and I love it because it's chickpeas it's also fortified with pea protein but look at the amount of fiber you get that amout of fiber for it two outs serving so art how many how many grams of fiber in the whole box I can't say how many servings in the box so there's 20 grams of protein in here 20 grams of fiber in here it's a complex carbohydrate it's a chickpeas basically you could also get pasta made of a red lentils Trader Joe's has a great one that's red Lent the other lentil and brown rice spaghetti it's phenomenal then red lentil said Nene or basically penne this is the kind of pasta you want to eat if you want pasta it's whole grains there's no simple starches in here very very good for you right so then we're gonna apply that same thinking to crackers right so this is something you might not think is Bobby approved but organic Triscuits are really important because since they're organic the oil there is not only non-gmo but it's expeller pressed we talked about inflammatory oils if this were just expel depressed sunflower oil or just regular organic sunflower oil it'd be highly processed inflammatory but when you see that word expeller pressed it's not nearly as processed and refined and then you just have sea salt and Jannik wholegrains so this is actually a good cracker because it's nothing but whole grains it's a complex carbohydrate you got to be careful because you might go for something like this is a nut and rice cracker it's actually gluten free by a Blue Diamond but look at the first ingredient you guys it's not almonds it's rice flour and it's white rice flour so that's a simple starch that's hiding the glycemic index which is why in this channel we always teach you don't trust the outside packaging when it says nut in rice well it's actually rice than nut so this is not the kind of crack you want to be eating this is probably one of the best complex carbohydrate whole getting crackers on the market this is Mary's gone crackers and look at this list here everything is whole grains its seeds its nut it's brown rice I mean that's fantastic it's still a little high in carbs but nothing compared to a traditional wheat cracker but that's the stuff you want to eat right think of it like almost like a keto diet you want to have a low carb crackers and probably the lowest carbon cracker would be this it's not really a cracker but it's made of parmesan they also have cheddar and cheese ones look at the ingredient it's one ingredient its Parmesan cheese and then you look at the carbs and I think it's one carb per serving so yet technically it's not a cracker right this is will have a basically a zero - I see mac effect if you don't want that you want real crackers just deal with something that has whole grains made of seeds and nuts not starches not flours and if you're gonna get something that's made of a flour it's got to be whole-grain right so once you understand what to look for it's very very easy but it could be treacherous walking around the grocery store there's a lot of stuff that can lure you in that's not good for you especially with the oils right you have to keep keep in mind like good oils and good saturated fats like eggs and grass-fed butter are so good for you despite what they taught us all throughout the 80s and 90s that fats were bad and they vilify them so instead they started giving us hydrogenated margarine and pumped up the sugar that's bad news right so that's what I would do if I were shopping on a diabetic diet you want more recommendations I'm more than happy to start research even more to help you guys if you their diet requests please let me know I want to start looking into like out fodmap and Crohn's diet but I don't do this all for you so leave a comment down below and let us know what kind of diet shopping calls you want to see but art and I have two more videos going below us right now like subscribe share that's the only way our channel keeps going but we will see you soon until then we saying to you like we always do hashtag keep on cooking man love and peace
