so today's video is going to be another solved true crime case and then the case from the UK as well I'm so sorry about this tree drives me insane today's case is a very very very requested one today we are going to be talking about the abduction and murder of Milly dowlas and I hope you enjoy this video I hope I do it justice and let's just get into it so before I do I just want to give my usual disclaimer that I mean absolutely no disrespect to anyone that I talk about in this video this is all just information that I have found on the internet and I'm compiling into one video so amanda jane Dowler better known to friends and family as Milly Dowler was a 13 year old girl from Surrey in England more specifically Walton on Thames in Surrey in England where she was born on June the 25th 1988 to Bob and Sally Dowler she lived with her parents and her older sister Gemma who I believe was about three years older than her I couldn't find like a specific number but I don't suppose it matters too much but they were very similar in age and they were like best friends because we just got really really close we slept in the same room so he could stay out that late and gossip and probably have a midnight feast so squeezed that way stuff from the fridge really was a very social person a very outgoing person she was very happy and positive all the time her friends and family said that whenever she walked into a room the room would just light up friendly very approachable she always had a twinkle in her eyes and she just was even an infectious person that everybody wanted to be around once she met her for the first time you automatically wanted to be her friend she was a talented musician she looked to play the saxophone she was like I said very social she had a lot of friends she was very well-liked she was just a normal 13 year old girl but on the 21st of March 2002 everything would change for the Dowler family when Millie didn't return home from school and then I got in but I think I was like 5 o'clock dad was in the office and I was like where's Millie and then he was like oh she's placed to be home by now I thought you would have picked her up and then as soon as I heard dad say she's not hiring I was just like oh god I don't know whether it's like sisterly instinct but I definitely know she was never gonna see her again so they waited a little bit longer for Milly to come home hoping that she was just with friends maybe that stopped somewhere on their way home from school but it got to around 7 o'clock and Milly still wasn't home and her parents called the police so quickly the police went to speak to Millie's friends the last people that she was with back there so that they could kind of establish her last known steps CCTV at Milly school catches her leaving as normal at 3:07 p.m. she then walked to the train station with her friend Danielle and she was caught there on CCTV at 3:20 4 p.m. the two of a million Danielle got on the train together and they talked about how they needed a catch-up they hadn't seen each other and spoken to each other in ages and so Danielle suggested to Milly that milli get off at her stop which was actually a stop before Millie's usual stop and they could go to the cafe in the train station and get some food and just kind of have a chat so that's exactly what the ditch they got off of the train they went to the cafe and then at 3:47 p.m. Milly borrowed one of the boys who was also in the cafe is fun cuz her dad ran out of credit so Milly called her father Bob off of this boy's phone just to tell him where she was and she said that she would be home in half an hour the girls left the cafe at 4 or 5 p.m. when Danielle's sister came to pick Danielle up Milly set off to walk home alone I said to her will you be alright walking home on your own we were all looked after each other but we live a nice area it was broad daylight she was walking along a main road obviously I'd double-check with her and and the question itself seemed silly and she laughed and just said don't be ridiculous I'll be absolutely fine three minutes later eight minutes past four a friend of Millie's older sister Gemma was waiting at the bus stop and she actually saw milling walking home on the opposite side of bird I was just there waiting for my bus and Millie was walking on the other side of the road it must have been within 30 seconds maybe up to a minute that my bus came round to pick me up we looked out for her and I didn't see her at the time I didn't think too much of it thought it was a bit strange but at that time you don't really think too much into it and that was the last anyone ever saw of Milly Dowler the next day after she was reported missing public appeals were all of the names Millie's face was everywhere and her search began it was that afternoon that the appeal started to go out for for Millie and have you seen her we need people's memories on that day because as you go through life or next day soon merges into the day before so we need people to think very very quickly about whether they'd seen her there were immediately a hundred police officers put onto this one case along with helicopters and detectives that actually worked on the Sarah Payne case two years earlier which I've actually already covered on my channel I'll link it up here if you don't know what I'm talking about what Sarah Penn was also another young girl that went missing and so they brought in the same detectives to work on Millie's case the search for Millie went on for days and days and she still wasn't turning up her face was on every newspaper on every single news channel on the TV but still there was absolutely no sign of Milly Dowler a whole seven days after Millie's disappearance there was still no sign of her and so Millie's parents decided to go on a UK show called crime watch where they give a public appeal for Millie's return and a reconstruction was made of Millie's last known steps a plea was also made directly to Millie just in case she'd run away by her favorite singer well young who she'd actually only seen in concert like a couple of weeks or a couple of months before her disappearance although like I said she was a very happy girl she was only 13 years old she'd never shown any signs of wanting to run away before and so no one really believed that she had run away but there's just always the possibility so it's worth making a plea directly to her just in case this time police came out to say that Milly was probably not taken by force because no one came forward to say that their witness to struggle it was a 4 p.m. on a weekday there were cars about there were people about it's not like it was in the middle of the night in darkness and Millie's sister's friend at the bus stop literally only took her eyes off of Milly for about a minute and by the time she went to look for her again once she was on the bus she was gone so it must have happened in that minute and for her to not have heard screaming or seen a struggle just suggests that there probably wasn't one police then began looking for CCTV footage of Milly walking down that road where she would have walked after she was seen by the bus stop but there wasn't any it was almost like million just kind of vanished into thin air and on that day it was very sunny and it had been raining so there's water on the lens and appoints in the revolutions of the cameras the view is obliterated by the sunlight so again you have to do further work to try and look through that sunlight to make sure she wasn't captured but here in the UK at the time because this was in 2002 we didn't really have the resources to be able to clear this footage up very well and so it was sent to America for work from the FBI after six months of messing around with this footage and trying to clear it up and look at different bits the FBI saw something it was a sports car that was on station Avenue that was driving sort of towards the railway station you could see a figure standing next to the passenger window and they appeared to be talking to the people that were sat inside the car we actually thought at that point that this could have been Millie the car was identified is a very rare Mazda and mexic sports car and only 5,000 of them existed in the UK at that time so an appeal was put out on the news for anyone that might have seen that car that dared to come forward and someone did but it wasn't what police were hoping far a woman ran police that exact same day that the was shown on the news and she said that it was her it was her and her son that was her car they were just going to the estate agents and so the only kind of real lead that they had to find Milly was now gone by this point Milly Dowler watts assumed dead they'd been several bodies found over the past few months all of which was speculated by the media to be mainly none of them were Milly but people father she was dead but then on September 18th 2002 six months after Millie's disappearance and in the set of human remains were found in the woods in yet Lea in Hampshire this body was quite badly decomposed and so the dental records of the body were examined and it was matched to Milly Dowler Millie's body was found naked and without any possessions and she was on her way home from school so she will have had a bag books purse fun all of it was gone and never found again and like I said the body was quite badly decomposed and so her cause of death couldn't be identified as soon as we found Milly we got certain experts in to look at the wooded area that she'd been found in and we used pollen experts and also experts that would be able to tell us about the foliage that had grown up around Milly and they were able to tell us that Milly had been left there in the actual week that she'd gone missing so Milly Darla's body had been there in the woods for six months while this whole missing-persons search was going on for her a month later police blocked the road by the woods where her body was found and they questioned over 6,000 motorists just to see if they were kind of regulars in the area to see if they'd seen anything but still nothing came of any of these questions for a little while Millie's own father bob was looked into as a suspect for no other reason than the fact that he was Millie's father and things like this do sometimes happen within the family however they didn't have too much evidence to go on literally it was just kind of theory they were just kind of questioning him as a suspect and he was quickly rolled out in March of 2003 a whole year after Millie's disappearance some male DNA unidentified male DNA was found on a clothing item in her bedroom so this led police to theorize that maybe this was the DNA of her killer and maybe she'd actually met him before hence ways on the clothes in her bedroom but this theory was quickly ruled out in April of 2003 six months after Millie's body was found a man named Paul Hughes was arrested and jailed for five years for harassing Milly jealous family he was never an actual suspect in the case but he would relentlessly send the Dowler family letters saying that he was Millie's killer and he would threaten to kill them as well just some really horrible things he actually sent these letters from jail where he was serving time for indecent assault of a twelve-year-old girl and I just find it like this is just a little side note I just find it ridiculous how he was able to send those letters like a things not screened before they're sent out of prison like Charlotte they should read the letters that prisoners send I mean I understand privacy and things like that but I don't know when you've got a pedophile on your hands I don't know another woman named Leon Newman was also arrested that month for calling Millie's parents have friends her school pretending to be Millie a man named Gary Farr was sectioned under the Mental Health Act for email in police Millie Dallas friends family and school saying that she was still alive she was just smuggled out of the UK to Poland to work as a sex slave and this is what happens when a case has to be this kind of public obviously Millie was a 13 year old girl she was missing and so her fear and her name needed to be everywhere for people to be able to find her and so obviously when it is everywhere people like this see it and think it's okay to do things like this then in November of 2004 the police working on Millie's case got a phone call from another police department in the UK claiming that they might have a lead this is in London had been looking into a string of murders in the area targeting particularly young women and so they thought they had a suspect it was a man named Levi Bellfield that before moving to London and possibly committing these other murders had previously lived just a hundred yards away from where Milly Dowler was last seen Levi Bellfield was a 35 year old man born and raised in South West London he had five children three different women some of which lived with him but I don't know how many and he also had several different previous charges for things like theft and assault one minute Chairman is sweet and like somebody flipped a switch he would just go psychotic on you Hey punch you bite you kick you burn you cigarettes all sorts of things put you and push you downstairs Levi saw women as possessions like as objects almost like a pet like if they didn't do what he said when he said it how he said it there will be consequences almost like you training a dog you couldn't leave him he wouldn't allow you to leave him he ruled my life you weren't allowed to answerphone the door open your post or anything without him there obviously because Levi lived so close to where Milly disappeared from at the time his house was one of the many in the area that was visited by police police knocked on his door 11 times and got no answer and so they just left it they just walked to where this was a possible witness slash possible suspect of a disappearance of a 13 year old girl and because he didn't answer the door one day there kind of like by the time he was on police radar family Dallas disappearance and murder he was also on police radar for two of the murders and thirty assaults one of the two murders was 22 year old Emilie de Lagrange who was visiting the UK as a student from France on the night of August 19 2004 Emily had been out with friends and she had got the bus back alert Emily actually missed her usual stop on the bus she got off a couple of stops too late and so she took a shortcut through a field known as Twickenham green and it was there where she was murdered she'd been hit over the head with a blunt weapon and she was left there on Twickenham green unconscious where she was found she was taken to hospital but she died shortly after police appealed for any witnesses are anyone with information to come forward and they amassed over a hundred suspects in this murder case one of which was Levi Bellfield as part of their investigation into Emily's murder they decided to look into several other kind of similar unsolved attacks in that same area they looked into the murder of 19 year old Marsha MacDonald who was murdered on the 4th of February 2003 again she was on her way home late at night by herself she was hit over the head with a blunt weapon and she died days later the murder of Marsha MacDonald also happened in Hampshire which is the same place as where Milly dowlas body was found so Levi Bellfield was looked into in connection with these murders and it was found that he hadn't always been successful with his murder attempts on the 24th of May 2004 eighteen-year-old kid she D had been out at the pub with friends when she decided to get the bus home she recalled getting off the bus alert it was pitch black outside and she recalled seeing a car that was pulled over to the side it was still on but the lights were off which she thought was kind of odd at the time even though kicks how was on the side that she was originally walking on she wanted to cross the road anyway because she just didn't feel comfortable walking past this car and as she did as she went to cross the road this car light switched on its engine switched on and it set off the car headed towards care at a really high speed and just knocked her straight down I do remember feeling the impact just be completely winded when I was first hit me just I don't even know if I made any sound I think barely it then reversed straight back over the same area and it was completely over my body I've just felt completely crushed like as if you were in a vise the car drove over kid a second time possibly to make sure that she was dead and then it just drove off and somehow can't manage to be able to call 999 Kate she did manage to make a full recovery in hospital and two weeks later she was able to give a full description about this car she said that it was a white people carrier with blacked-out windows and a broken wing mirror on the passenger side so police looked at the CCTV from the bus and sure enough they saw this white car following the bus for a long time the driver probably saw can't get on and targeted her specifically and although there's no actual camera footage of the incident there were no CCTV cameras around that area another one a little bit further on sees this sim white car speeding away from the scene the vehicle on the CCTV footage was identified as a Toyota previa which was the exact same model of car that Levi Bellfield owned at the time all the way down to the broken passenger side wing mirror this whole time police had tagged the CCTV footage from the buses that and Emily took home on the nights of their murders but they hadn't thought that they showed anything of interest until now in both instances a car was following both buses very close behind up until the woman got off but because the CCTV footage was inside the bus and it was dark outside it's kind of hard to figure out the model of the car however you can't deny that this is a very strong similarity between all three different cases Levi Bellfield also had previous charges of abduction and false imprisonment in 2001 an attempted murder in 2003 both of which he was never actually sentenced for so on July 6 2005 Levi Bellfield was finally questioned in connection with Millie gobblers murder did you know L don't have anything to do with Levi was given tons of opportunities to deny having anything to do with Millie's murder all the way through his questioning but he didn't take any of them all he kept saying was no comments dude didn't say something and at no stage over the last two days have you denied any involvement in these but as the interview went on Levi seemed to become more and more uncomfortable ma Rahman nervous and he began like showing physical kind of nervous tics I remember quite clearly that it one stage during that interview that he started to perspire quite heavily he then took off his sweater he's behavior indicated to me that he was exceptionally uncomfortable with the line of questioning when I came out to the interview I was convinced as I could be that he was the right man and that he was responsible but police had no kind of solid evidence to be able to charge Levi yet and so they decided to turn to Levi's ex-girlfriend Emma Mills Emma and Levi at the time of Millie's disappearance were living together in a flat there was just a hundred meters away from it when Millie was last seen like I said however Emma said at the time of Millie's disappearance they weren't actually staying in that flat there were house-sitting for someone so this confirms that the flat was empty when Miller went missing and Emma Mills also said that she has no idea where Levi Bellfield was Emma said that Levi returned home to the house that there were house-sitting around ten 11 o'clock that night and she also believed that he changed his clothes since she'd seen him in the morning anyway and he went to bed as normal and then Emma recalls him getting up at like 3 or 4 in the morning saying that he was gonna go back to the normal flat so that he could have a lie-in and so he took the couple's dog and he went back to the flat in the middle of the night the next day Levi Bellfield moved his whole family out of this flat that they shared despite having a full two months left on the contract the actual home that he wanted Emma's go back to she describes as a squat it didn't have any kitchen cupboards it didn't have any kitchen floors it was a mess you would not take young children back to live in a place like that but he was determined I mean it was so bad they actually had to sleep on sofa cushion chair in the move and the notice that some of their belongings were missing including the bed sheets leave I tried to explain this to Emma by saying that the dog had messed on the sheets and so he just thrown them away but Emma knew her dog Emma knew that her dog never messed inside and so she just found that pretty odd but she was asking again what were you doing on the 21st and Belle Fields response to her was what do you think I've done Millie and Emma meals describes her own personal reaction to that is complete and utter disgust why would you joke about something like that and actually thought that Levi was cheating on her and I thought that Levi had had another woman in the house and so thrown away the sheets he was spending time away from her and not telling her where he was like she thought that he was cheating on her not that he'd killed Millie Dowler so please continue to question Levi Bellfield all her ex-girlfriends to see if they could find anything else and that was when they came to one x in particular named Joanna who was an avid horse rider Levi knew about the woods from coming to a tea show with me and my horses he came probably five or six times with me and then we'd walk our dogs probably about the same amount of times five or six times around the common in the woods that same woods when Millie dowlas body was found and so police asked Joanna to take them to where she used to walk the dogs with Levi and unknowingly Joanna took them to the exact same place where Millie's body was found so at this point suspicion is building up and building up against Levi Bellfield yet they still don't have any kind of concrete proof against him and so they went back to and the mills because they believe that maybe she knew a little bit more she told police that Levi at the time of Millie's disappearance was driving a red deer wound nexia car and so now that police knew what kind of model of car to look for they went back to the CCTV footage of that day of Millie's disappearance and they found this it's a rare day wound exia turning off the street leading to Collingwood place the time is 433 just 25 minutes after Millie was last seen but Levi Bellfield had reported that red car missing just eight days after Millie's disappearance and sir police couldn't find it to do like DNA testing forensic searchers they just couldn't find it to search for a link to Millie and despite extensive searches with like divers and legs and searching different camera footages CCTV Levi's red car was never found but obviously public appeals were put out for anyone that might see this car and something did come up on the 20th of March 2002 just one day before Millie's disappearance an 11 year old girl and ritual Cowell's was walking home from school just three miles away from where Millie was taken the next day a car drove up to the side and stopped and the guy leant over and said to me I've just moved in next door would you like a lift home I know all the neighbors quite well so it meant that I would have known if someone had moved in or moved out and something clicked in my head that I shouldn't get into the car so she reported this to police and gave a description of the man she said that he was 30 to 40 years old with a round face driving a red hatchback with two child Cassie's in the back and Emma Mills Levi's girlfriend at the time when she was asked years later in connection with Milly Dowler disappearance she was able to confirm that that was the exact description of the car that she shared with Levi at the time the significant part of this is that it puts the car and the person who owned the car out driving through local streets looking to pick up mm-hmm a young girl yes absolutely in May of 2006 Levi Bellfield was charged with the murders of Emilie de Lagrange and Marcia MacDonald as well as the attempted murder keyd although he still denied having a part in any of them too many similarities Levi too many similarities for the question not to be asked for you not to say why you felt a little Tanya but still despite all of this kind of suspicion and almost evidence this still wasn't a perfect link between Levi Bellfield and milli dollars case we've never had any direct forensic evidence to show that Belfield killed mini Dowler so we had to work very hard to prove that he was the only person that could have killed her so we had to rule out every other possibility it's painstaking work in February of 2008 Levi Bellfield was sentenced to life in prison for his two murder charges and the attempted murder charge that he was given two years prior so still the hunt for evidence to link Levi Bellfield and Millie Dallas case continued an experts were able to narrow down the exact spot in which merely dalla was abducted from on the street that day considering where her sister's friends saw her at the bus stop and where that CCTV camera should have picked her up from there was only a very short space in which she could go missing from he was able to narrow down for us that she was abducted from station Avenue and the only sort of residential areas you have in that area of station Avenue a Collingwood place and Collingwood place was well Levi Bellfield lived with his girlfriend and the mills that place where he returned to at 3 or 4 in the morning weirdly and that looked with all the other evidence that police had been collecting over the years was finally enough to concretely said that Levi Bellfield killed Millie Dowler the actual flat surrounded by really high hedges and there's a little pathway walk through that leads on to Station Avenue I have stood there myself and you are completely shrouded by the bush fencing so that people can't actually see you standing there and you get a perfect view of Walton railway station and the people coming and going about their daily business it's believed that Levi snatched Milly Dowler from the street and took her to his flat at Collingwood place to kill her that 25 minutes later Levi left Walton on Thames completely and was seen in his red car on CCTV driving out the area Levi's phone records from that day show him heading in the direction of the house that he and his girlfriend Emma were house-sitting at the time however if you remember he didn't get there until 10 or 11 o'clock at night at some point his phone signal cut out and then as of that point there was absolutely no record of Levi Bellfield up until 10 or 11 o'clock that day so that is like a solid six hours that he is not accounted for obviously only Levi Bellfield knows where he was in that amount of time that day but he has never told police so at 5:00 a.m. the following morning Levi Bellfield is seen returning to his flat at Collinwood place with his dog he's actually seen by a witness who is out searching for Milly Dowler he had to Mini's boarding out of that flat that night because emma was due to go home on Friday he could leave her there so he had to do it it's thought that he then you're about to the woods to dump famillies body while it was still dark outside over the following weeks after murdering Milly Levi Bellfield attempted to destroy any kind of evidence that could link him to Milly so he got rid of his car he got rid of his flat clothes everything finally on the 31st of March 2010 eight years after the abduction and murder of Milly dalla Levi Bellfield was finally charged with it his trial began in May of 2011 and remember he was already serving a life sentence this wasn't necessarily to add any more time on to his sentence just mother give merely some justice something that she hadn't had for the past like eight years to be able to counterclaim Levi's abduction charge his side brought up a lot of letters that Milly bro while she was alive that have been described as suicide nur like to suggest that maybe she ran away he also denies killing Milly full stop and has never given a reason why he did it by the way just to let you know so I'm not gonna go too into these letters out of respect for Milly but it was clear that she was in a very dark place when she brought them she wasn't very happy with herself or with her appearance but her family believed that these letters were written very much just in the spur of the moment like we all have bad days and Milly just roll out how she was feeling to try and cope with it she was a teenager Tina just write stupid things I'm sure they would have been some letters like that for me and when they searched the house as well I knew Millie she loved everyone she wanted to be like no one wants to be disliked and she was so happy and she was just such a lovely person but like I said Bell Fields attorney really focused in on these letters to say that she ran away from home and that someone else killed her or she killed herself that it wasn't belfie but there was just so much evidence against Levi Bellfield it was such a weak argument on his side and so in July of 2011 Levi Bellfield was found guilty of the abduction and murder of Millie Dowler and he was given another life sentence on top of his three that he was currently serving on the 27th of January 2016 so just two years ago Levi Bellfield actually admitted to raping abducted and murderin Milly Dowler however he now denies that he ever admitted to it it also came out in July of 2011 that a news publication called news of the world had actually hacked Millie down was fun to listen to some voicemails on her foot during the whole time before her body was found while she was just missing there was always that kind of thought in the back of her family's minds that maybe she had run away like you just kind of want to cling on to that you don't want to think she's been abducted and killed you want to think that she's out there somewhere and so her family would keep calling her thud and leaving her voicemails like just talking to her and asking her to come home and things like that and at one point her voicemail box got full and one day Millie's mother Sally ran her phone again and it went through to voicemail not it didn't give the usual message of the voice mailbox is full it went through and so Sally believes that Millie was alive obviously after a while this kind of died down they thought it was maybe just like a technical difficulty and then obviously her body was found but it came out in 2011 that this actually wasn't a technical difficulty this happened because these journalists went in her voice mailbox and deleted some of the voicemails to make room for some mod that her family could make and that they could Center the dollars were awarded two million pounds in compensation for that but I mean no compensation will ever be enough for that I mean they've really thought that their daughter was alive somewhere and listening to their voicemails and it just got much and how heartbroken that must have been for the family and just downright horrible from the journalists and Levi Bellfield has actually since been suspected of several of the rapes and murders and assaults dating all the way back to 1990 he was also suspected in the murder of his childhood girlfriend 14 year old Patsy Morris in 1980 Jim in his prison time Levi Bellfield has actually admitted to several different unsolved rapes and murders all of which police have tried to link him to her obviously we've got an admission but they couldn't find any link between him and these crimes and so they think that maybe he's just doing it for attention or to purposely hurt the victims families but yeah that completes this video thank you so so much for watching make sure you leave a big thumbs up on the video if you enjoyed it and subscribe down below if you want to see some more from me a big big big
