I watched all three videos in that series. It's like having MacGyver give you a private tour of his "all-purpose" gear.
A little bit OCPD? yes.
Interesting? definitely.
Useful? absolutely.
Practical? debatable.
In any case, I find his voice and attention to detail very calming.
It seems more of a compact tool kit and I would say it is more suited for urban survival. It seems pretty personalized to the author's use. However, it is very, very cool.
Even if not everything here is useful I would say 1. a survival kit does need to address the unknown and unforeseen & 2. the nerd in me would still have a lot of fun putting this together.

Neat as a tool kit, not very good as a survival kit.
makes alot of sense to me if you're going to be bugging-in an urban suburban area. He's essentially boiled down a 50lb tool box into what you see there. is it a "survival kit" per say? no. Is it a post apocalyptic engineer's wet dream... yes.
