welcome back everybody my name is taylor martin this is the best damn edc and about six or seven months ago i shared with you guys a little tool kit that i keep inside my backpack at all times it's been really really handy actually but as i mentioned and i explained in that video i did just kind of throw some cool stuff inside a pouch it happened to be somewhat useful and it was just kind of something i wanted to share with you guys but ever since i made that video i wanted to build a toolkit for my backpack that was purpose built that had tools in it that had a purpose and a reason something with thought and care something that i would actually use like when i would grab that old toolkit what was i missing what was i never actually touching in that toolkit so that's what this is we'll call this edc bag tool kit version two so i want to share this with you guys and with all of that said let's do the damn thing but before we go any further i would like to thank our sponsor for this video sub case as many of you know they make award-winning cases for phones and tablets but they also make protective cases for your accessories that's exactly what this is this is the unicorn beetle case for your air pods it has very similar styling to the unicorn beetle series for your phones but there's the unicorn beetle pro for the airpods and then the royal series which has this nice synthetic leather finish i love the way this one looks but it comes with a two-piece design so there's no moving parts it has a little port here for your charging and it still allows wireless charging which is a key feature if i can't use wireless charging with my airpods case i'm not going to use the case the unicorn beetle pro comes with a little carabiner so you can clip it to things and the royal series comes with this little wrist strap that you can use to hold on to it a little better if you would like to try it for yourself hit the link in the description down below or go to amazon and search airpod case by subcase and once again thank you sub case for sponsoring this video so when i made that last video i mentioned in the video that i was gonna do an update to this and i started thinking about how i was gonna fix it and upgrade it right then and there and i've just been slowly swapping things out ever since and i was getting close to finishing this video but i didn't know what i was gonna do for the pouch so this was the pouch that i used before which is just a i think this is a maxpedition micro it was pretty packed full and there was no reason for it to be this small because i keep it inside a backpack it's nice to grab it and have something small and compact that you can take with you but at the same time it lives in a backpack it's not fitting in my pocket i can go a little bigger than this but i didn't want to go quite as big as the one that i keep in my truck which is the maxpedition fatty and maxpedition has a ton of different pouches and sizes a ton of stuff available there's vanquished gear and there's a lot of companies out there that make pouches like this but i wasn't quite sure what i wanted to do i actually went to my p.o box and there was a surprise in there and that was this this is from garage built gear and i was not playing i had not talked to them i just checked my p.o box on a random day and it happened to be in there and i reached out to them and said thank you this is exactly what i was looking for to be completely honest so before i get inside this and talk more about it i just want to say that not only am i replacing this which is the little tool kit i had before i'm also replacing this right which right now is pretty much empty this was the maintenance kit so i did a video on how i maintain my knives and this was the kit that i had kpl in i had a bit driver and some bits and alcohol wipes and stuff and i would use this to clean and maintain my knives so i'm replacing both of these with this one kit because both of these were always in my backpack two pouches versus one i'd go one every time so this is the garage built gear ultimate edc organizer and i really like this when it first came in i thought it was like a bible cover or something i honestly i didn't know what it was until i opened it up but what i really like about this is that it comes in this waxed canvas so it's not cordura it's not nylon it is a wax canvas and i think you can get it in a different material but i really like this one so garage build gear you knew what you were doing when you sent me the wax canvas on the outside you have a little place for morale patches you have a pocket on the front which i have just a little notebook in and then on the back you have a half zippered pocket not half zippered but a pocket that's half of the back and inside i have just little uh hook and loop cable ties i use these all the time all the time so that's all for the outside once you get on the inside that's where the magic happens so we open this up and boom a lot to unpack here there's a lot to process because this is not a small little micro max petition anymore this is a full-on kit so where do we begin right i mean there's just so much to unpack here i guess we'll start with this little back piece uh in this pocket i just have a little shop rag nothing too special there i use it for whatever wiping up grease if i'm maintaining a knife i use that as my surface because it's a little easier to see little body screws on a bright red surface like this than it is like a wooden table uh and then the other thing i have back here is just a little ziploc pouch with zip ties inside it just to keep those nice and tidy that's all that's back there really what i found with this pouch is that there's almost too much room which i would rather have extra room than have something packed full like i had that max petition so let's uh let's talk about the first big change that i made with the pouch that is the multi-tool so if you recall from the first video i had a leatherman free p4 in that pouch and i like the free p4 but i ended up switching to a leatherman charge tti for two reasons one the blade on the leatherman charge is s30v so you get a nicer blade steel in your blade and it really came down to this more than anything interchangeable bits it being a tool kit like this one of the reasons i chose the free p4 in that micro is because it fit better than the leatherman wave this pouch that's a different story i don't necessarily care about the size of the tool but more the utility leatherman free p4 some people hate it think it's gimmicky i really like it especially if it's something i'm going to throw in my pocket and carry with me but in a tool kit i want something that has interchangeable bits now this would prevent me from needing another screwdriver if i didn't have my knife maintenance stuff in here as well so we'll get to that but the main reason that i grabbed the leatherman charge or even a leatherman wave would have been fine uh the main reason was for the bit kit so you can use your leatherman bit kit with this you cannot use it with the leatherman free before the leatherman charged tti does come with some bits but not the full bit kit so worth buying the full bit kit which i do keep those in this little zip pocket over here another change i made as i swapped out the griffin pocket tool xl for the zac woods pry bar this is an apb-1 and it's an abl it's a tool steel i like this one a little more because it's got a very thin edge here it tapers down really really thin whereas the griffin pocket tool is much thicker i think there's use for both of those but this one i just like this being a tool steel and at the clip helps as well if i'm using it i can just throw it in my pocket i like the clip i still have the the enigma in here which is the rat bastard pry bar i mainly just have this for the tweezers which are pretty heavy duty tweezers i understand that i could go with some lighter duty tweezers and that'd be fine but this is just something i had and i didn't want to buy more tweezers the pen i have a tactile turn bolt action mini and titanium the flashlight i also swapped out as well i think in the last video i had maybe a titanium baton pro in there now i have the warrior mini it's just a new light from olight it's one of the things i like about it is that it has a side switch and also a tail switch so you can use the tail switch for an instant turbo there's also like a half press to get it on a low mode that's really kind of tough to do with this one it's it's a feature that's borrowed from the warrior which is why this is called the warrior mini but you still have that side switch for moonlight and and your standard operation of the olight but i don't know i just liked this one they sent it and it fit the pouch so i threw the warrior mini in there the other big change is i used to have the big idea design ti edc wrench in this kit or the smaller kit and i swapped it out for some nipex these are actually only the five inch version with the cobra jaws and i really like these you guys made it clear i needed to try some knifex here we are i finally got some actually in the tool kit video for my truck uh i had a universal or like a an adjustable wrench in there you guys gave me hell over the adjustable wrench these are very similar to channel locks if you're not familiar with an ipex you just basically push the button and slide and it locks into place whereas channel locks really don't lock and that's that's one of the biggest gripes i have with channel locks is they always slip and slide on me or always having to readjust the grip these lock into place while you're working on whatever and then when you're done slide them closed very very great tool and this is basically a universal wrench all the way up to i don't know what's that inch and a quarter inch and a half i don't know exactly but they are kind of expensive for what they are these are like 35 dollars i think for the five inch the four inch which is what i really wanted before i went with this bigger bag the four inch were like 45 they're hard to come across people really want those four inch pliers but they have all sorts of sizes uh in this kit i could actually go a little bigger than the five inch but i didn't want to go too big because i picked these out before i ended up picking out this bag because this hadn't been sent to me yet i didn't know of its existence until it was sent to me so i went smaller because i was looking for a smaller pouch but once this was since i decided this was actually the right size in here i also have my tpt slide of course i'm going to have my own tool in here i love these things i love the tpt slide and of course i love my version of it which is the top of one shameless plug these are always in stock now over at carry commission you just go to carry.best and they're there available at all times there's a link down below as well in this pouch we have more like cleaning medical stuff but up here at the top i do have a pair of these monkeys tweezers i don't know if these were in the last one i know i included them in one of the survival tins that i did but just a pair not tweezers fingernail clippers they're not tweezers fingernail clippers just because i always lose fingernail clippers so if i know if i always put them there i know where they always are also to have just some general stuff in here and i know you guys are gonna yell at me for not having first aid stuff this is not a first aid kit it's just a tool bag it's fine so just to shut you up i have a booboo kit i have some band-aids for you some bandages there you go bandages i have some q-tips in here as well that's mainly just for when i'm cleaning a knife if i really need to get in there and clean it out i can with some q-tips and then a whole handful of alcohol prep pads which are for cleaning stuff cleaning knives whatever i had these tucked in under the zipper but i have some medium sized zip ties again no end to the uses for zip ties always good to have some on you i've already talked about the leatherman bit kit which i have in this pouch right here you guys are very familiar with the leatherman bit kit but also since i do have the tpg slide in here i have some spare blades just some tajima blades i think they're the best blades out there personally maybe i'm wrong but of all the utility knife blades i've used i like the tajima the most so have a little i think like five or six of those spares in there and then the last little bit is this whole pouch we're gonna get all of it out all at once so this right here is pretty much the entirety of my old maintenance kit minus the prep pads which i already have here and then i had a secondary driver uh just a little weha precision driver kit i mainly stick to this one uh all the time now but one of the things that i was going to come back to and mention is that because i have this bit driver here in the leatherman charge with an interchangeable bit kit there are just a couple of torx bits in here so if i need to use two at the same time i've got two big grip screwdrivers that i can use on a knife with that said we have the combat beads precision driver i think i talked about this thing a long time ago but this is my preferred screwdriver just because it's got that bearing at the bottom and you can pivot it with your hand and and screw and unscrew things very very quickly inside that is actually a wihab bit this is from the wehabit kit i had this holder just sitting around these don't all line up whatever doesn't matter don't care and then i have the benchmade work sharp edge maintenance tool this thing i actually use quite a bit for just touching up edges if i have if i need to strop something it's a very quick and easy strap to have in this kit and then a ceramic if you just need to touch it up a little bit most of your work on your edge is going to be touch up after you put in a good sharpen so these things i wish they were more widely available and less expensive but here we are also there was a clip on this i took it off i don't know where it is i have blue loctite stick here which i use for pivot screws pivot screws only and then i have two bottles of kpl or knife pivot lube this is the regular this is the heavy i can barely tell sometimes which one the heavy is but it's got a little bit of gold there which the regular never had but kpl and then a mighty hank's for just wiping stuff down something with microfiber so i don't have to use a shop rag on something i want to wipe off like a lens or something that's it that's the tool kit it's definitely got more in it now because i've paired down from two bags to one but i think i have just the essentials that i would use on a regular basis in it i use it a lot more now that especially that i've got this like knife maintenance stuff in here but yeah it's just something that's easy to grab take with me and i'm happy with all the upgrades that i made i may end up getting a bigger pair of knifes i know i'm going to get another pair for the truck kit but for the bag i think this is probably big enough i mean these jaws extend pretty far and i don't know that you can get much leverage on something that big with these but i don't know for what i've needed so far this kit has been stellar let's get some of this stuff back in this bag so there you have it this is the kit that works best for me maybe it wouldn't work for you i don't know but for me this is exactly what i need i don't use all of these things all of the time the bit kit with the leatherman i think is a huge upgrade as well as the knifex those are the three most used things in this kit by far the the leatherman with the bit kit the knife maintenance stuff and the knife those are the things that i've used a lot but as far as this whole pouch goes i really have no complaints it's made really really well um the price is pretty good too this one with the wax canvas i think is 60 bucks the other versions without this wax canvas are 50 i believe they do have like a like a one week turnaround time on making it because they're all made to order but i have no complaints everything seems spot on i love all the pockets and how it's all laid out and organized i think it's it's really put together well and well thought out the only thing that i would say is maybe a point of of concern for me is the edges on these pieces of elastic on the inside the outside doesn't have that this is i guess is where it's cut and maybe where the edges of it are i don't know exactly what's going on with the edges here on the inside the outside don't have that issue but when you push on this at all it i don't know i don't know how long that's gonna last but i think it'll be fine it may not even be something i should be worried about i don't know it's just the first thing that caught my eye and really the only thing that caught my eye for something that may not last super long that in the heat shrink right here the tank treat tubing on the the paracord pools for the zippers i'll probably cut that off and put leather with a bead on it that's just me i didn't even know about this thing to begin with when i was setting out to make this video i'd heard of garage built gear but i'd not ever seen anything of theirs and it was a huge surprise to see this in my p.o box and i'm really happy they sent it over because this honestly was about what i was looking for it's smaller than that maxpedition fatty it's bigger than the one i was using before and it was just the right size to put the knife maintenance kit and my tool kit together in one without being super bulky it sits really thin down in the bag and i really really like having this kit in there there you go thank you guys for watching let me know what you guys think about this pouch and what you think you would do differently maybe i'm excessive maybe i don't have enough stuff in here maybe i picked all the wrong stuff let me know about it in the comments down below but thank you guys hope you enjoyed the video hit the links if you do want any of the stuff it's all going to be linked down below most of those are affiliate links so if you do purchase anything using those links i do get a little bit of a kickback doesn't cost you anything extra and some of those actually have discount codes so you also benefit from it as well but thank you guys again and until next time
