nothing new [Music] she got a big old bag though [Music] maybe it was just a poop sounds like you're hungry [Music] can you please go you're so big the whole camera can't get you on in the video come on go come on so it looks like dad has a bottle cap for himself gets to feed it he said no i guess that's the hired hands job uh that's one of the twins that we brought over to kenny's a few days back the mom was taking care of both of them and then she started kicking away the smaller heifer calf and dad noticed it was getting skinny put it over by the cow she kicked at it so he brought it back home now we have a bottle calf i know this stuff it's a curse it's a blessing i see stuff all the time like dead people i see dead people okay okay he doesn't it's noticeable yeah i got in a fight with a cast sled yesterday capsule sometimes calf sleds have to do what dads can do hit their child yeah so i'm gonna mix up a bottle for this calf it's screaming it's hungry and then we actually do have someone coming today to pick it up because they purchased it and someone mentioned or asked why do we sell the calf you know we have an extra one and it takes a lot of time you know taking it twice a day i can feed 100 head of cattle with the feed wagon and the time it takes to feed a bottle cap and not only that they don't do that great off of the milk replacement this will be going on a cow for another guy and that actually it's a lot better for the calf and that guy gets to keep the cow around so we we just really don't need it it's not going to do well here being in a stuffy barn drinking that crappy milk replacement yeah there's that we're going to make some milk replacer up feed this bottle calf and is it on yeah i think so as a kid you're like oh i'd love a bottle calf and then after a week you're like wish to sell this bottle cat there was one time when i was probably about 10 years old i don't know what was going on we just had a bunch of twins we are up to like six bottle caps and you gotta feed them twice a day so that's making 12 bottles it takes a lot of time and then they just don't do very well so often you come in there the next day and they're spasming or something and just it's tough [Music] any new calves no wow no new calves we got five yesterday and four the day before hammer time yeah sometimes they uh fight you a lot too how many of you guys have had him pulled rip the nipple off and all the milk goes on the ground i've never had that before oh so when i was young and we had bottle lambs give us something fun to do they used to do that a lot they tear that tiny little nipple off a pop bottle because they were just drinking out of a little you know 12 ounce pop yep there is one cow that stayed out in the corn stock so it's very possible we had another calf tonight last night not tonight last night well we have had some pretty nice weather the last few days recent videos dad and i have been mudding pulling calves out of the mud it's been pretty tough but you can see we got some really good dry spots today is monday and tomorrow of course is tuesday but the thing about this tuesday and this doesn't happen very often for like the last week we have had a 100 chance of rain for tuesday usually it's like 50 80 whatever but it has been 100 chance of rain so we're pretty positive we're gonna be getting some rain tomorrow and so to prepare for that we're gonna pull out one of our calf shelters that ground's been pretty frozen and it's been too muddy to get in the ground we didn't get it in the ground earlier enough so that'll keep the calves dry and that 17 acres of calving pasture not only that way back there you're not going to be able to see it the wind we've had you know we've had good weather good drying weather but we had 40 mile an hour wind on saturday i think it was and so that cash shelter in the back ripped out the t post and it flipped over it flipped back and then now it's on its top so we're gonna try to flip that back dad ran into the co-op he's trying to grab four pointed wood posts so we can chuck those on the ground got a decent amount of corn left in the pit but with this rain that's gonna be at least an inch it's looking like we're gonna dump more corn in there so we don't run out since today's about as dry as it's gonna be for probably a good week or so and while we still have the brant conveyor through the conveyor we're gonna pull some more corn out of the bin so we got calf shelter to flip some wood to punch in corn to move we're going to be decently busy today see if we'll bob will start today maybe we should replace the batteries in this thing there's an idea [Music] so what was that cow doing out there just walking around sniffing the ground thinking about it thinking about it we flippy first and then punch post him but we got to repair that one before we pull it out yeah so we can go any direction how do i flip it to you do i have to put forks on too i don't know [Music] so here it is you can see it obviously used to sit there and then it flipped over flipped on its back and then flipped on its top it was pretty relieving that morning when i walked over here and saw that there weren't any humps because you know it was windy so if a calf were on the backside trying to find some shade or not some shade but some shelter from the wind might have been a little bubble but all the calves are good turned out well i don't know if you guys noticed but he borrowed my pliers and then i had to take this one off without pliers first i got the big old sausages so [Music] we did it smooth as a baby's bottom i guess we can eyeball the post from there and then push it into place dad it almost seems like these shelters need a shelter of their own because they get wet and they just rot they're not the highest quality stuff in the world the guy that bought the twin uh-huh just texted me he just got set tonight he just gotta say to him yeah well good for him yep yeah he told him no problem so i guess we got a bottle cap we'll sell it tomorrow okay well that's nice for him you don't have to spend money as you can see this corner kind of broke up it wasn't broken a while ago but we got another chunk of 2 by 12 in the back added some wood to this thing look at that poo i know it that hurts a hammer eureka how's that yeah all right hopefully it doesn't fall apart that thing's probably 10 years old we've had it for a while come on [Music] oh i'll have to come back wrap some wire chain around that because it's not much fun when they flip so we'll probably punch in two posts at an angle sort of like that push the building up [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] am i dusty and then we're going to go check on a cow that was kind of standing off by itself might have cabbed by now 9 85 started making that empty noise it's a girl turn around looks like she's gonna be playing here in i washed this a week and a half ago that was just in the way a bit that doesn't sound healthy so we're going to pull out of that bin up front there we'll start the brand 1547 up drive it back i think we're stuck a little snoopy back there a little soupy feel the ground squish [Applause] [Music] you can see the grass is cleaning up don't doesn't that get you excited you get to watch me do some field work soon did i ever tell you that when i was a kid we had a calf shelter on that pad of concrete and we put stocking panels in a big circle pretty much you can see the line from the clay to the grass we had a big pin here and two hog feeders and we raised hogs on that concrete floor i didn't always want to come over here at six o'clock in the morning in the summertime and load them because it's going to be hot you know play really hoping to stick to when i had time do you think there's more or less used needles here than underneath an overpass there are more underneath an overpass i don't know what i'm going to do when the cup gets full but this is my storage sport right now maybe you'll retire before then won't have to deal with it i hope so buddy you're like 30 minutes old quit running 576. it's funny how after you tag them and do all that stuff then they start coming to you yeah like if you inflicted they think you're their mom that's a nice-sized heifer i don't know if you guys watch bing back i don't know if you guys watch the big bang theory or not that's but it's time for fun with flags that's all i gotta say about that okay that 100 chance of rain that we're getting tomorrow we're gonna get up these cows that are close to calving we're gonna sort them and make sure the ones that are gonna calve in the next one or two days are gonna be in the building because you know it's not gonna be cold but we don't want that calf to come out on mud and just get rained on and get a little chill so we're going to chase everything up i just like starting cattle so it's an excuse to start that do you know what time it is time to wrangle up some time to wrangle up some couples that's it come on girls slappy slappy big girls in there you know what i see dad big old bike [Music] some of these girls are just eight foot beach balls holy moses dead saw one he said it's got to have 12 calves in it huge there's a brand new baby up by the barn so we got something to tag the people would like a reenactment of how i hurt my forehead yesterday sure so there was this calf that was born out here and i went to go like this push it push it into the sled well it didn't go in it hit here and like this slipped through my finger in that corner right there and you know the worst part about it the worst part about it was that i just woke up from a nap and my knee also was kind of hurting at the time so you put those three things together it was just not a good time i think the worst part of it was that i didn't get to see it i missed it but we could flip it around and you could get first-hand experience if you want [Music] is that 100 or 101 that cat oh i don't know i feel like it's 100. that's the third one today we might have to break in that pendleton so that was number 101 yeah 49 plus 52. yep so that was 101. 101 dalmatians or angus capitals all that extra love and attention that cole gives them all summer with the uh so with the pellets what's the pellets with whatever it is that he does out there hole number 49 mickey did you feed that bottle calf while i was gone oh i forgot he's licking the horseshoe handle supper time after this i get to feed brian yeah what would i give you if you crawled onto the castle i don't think you could fit under there no please do it before it runs out of milk yep you were wrong now you gotta take a shot at pennwood i don't remember making that agreement cows are in the barn hope you enjoyed today's video we got some things done and we did some other stuff we'll see you next time have a good one [Music] get a little dust off the bottle let's go yeah smooth the puppy up for you that's a pretty good shot okay we're celebrating our 100th cleave yep that reminds me of that henry what the hell weigh about three or four pounds
