what's that anna timmy's in the well no what is it this video is brought to you it's brought to you by simply safe oh jeez this is millennial farmer your windshield is broken i know but thanks for the ride bye-bye toodles i noticed there was no smoke this time when i started it up if you remember a few videos back there was a small campfire in the armrest here they must have removed that that's good i love that retro paint job on those new versatiles it's a western minnesota traffic jam mid-april and we just uh got done having a mild snowstorm this morning fields are empty so that's good now the 9560 here is going to get hooked up to the 2230 field cultivator or if you want to speak the native tongue here in western minnesota it's the digger because it digs we're not complicated people ready the big pin i need the big one for this well as long as i got to walk up here i'll get this thing out of the way this is still waiting to go in the shop but it sounds like they got the parts in for it now that's the small one there we go [Music] apparently they build the hitch on the field cultivator just small enough so that you don't use the big pin but just big enough so that it seems like the small pin isn't good enough that's pretty sweet got one of these handy dandy poly drawbar savers from bay west that i've worked with before we'll shim it right in there that'll take up some of that slack and i guess it does work out nice when the implements got a wider hole so you can put the you know now i know there's definitely water in the wing in the wing wheels so i'm gonna unfold it get that water out here instead of in the shop actually there's hardly any just a little bit more musical machinery here i got to get the planter out of the way now because we're pretty well done with that in the shop but i want it in the shed because of all the electronics i don't want it to get snowed and rained on so i'm going to move the big 95 70 the four-wheel drive with the medeco on it and let that sit in the rain and snow i hate to do that because it's just so shiny but can't have the planter in the rain [Music] that's one of the things that i really like about these rts over the four-wheel drives they're not so dang big you can turn them like a skid steer when you need to they're so maneuverable there now i just gotta run and get some sweeps in the morning we're gonna go through this thing grease it check the tires make sure all the settings are good put the computer and the receiver on the tractor we're going to put some sweeps on and i think i'm guessing probably a few shanks there's usually a few that are tweaked in there make sure the harrow is good make sure the rolling basket's good get all of this stuff off of there so i'll see you in the morning and tomorrow we're bringing in a special guest appearance i'll give you a hint he's really tall i mean i'm tall but this guy this you'll see him tomorrow it is still mighty sloppy out here this morning it sure be nice if that sun would come out i'm going to hop in the dooley head down to the local deal deal dear john deere dealer and grab some sweeps for the digger we've got a line for picking up parts this morning everybody's getting ready to go a little bit colorful back here this morning all right that took a bit it's a busy place this time here kind of like my phone is all the time as long as i got my phone out i'm actually gonna take a second here check my simply safe app to see if our special guest who is appearing has appeared yet so i can just go to the farm shop where i've got the cameras and i can watch live there's nobody in the shop so i can see the digger sitting there looks nice i'm gonna check out this 18 foot 27 30 ripper that's got the folding wings on it it's the same width as ours but the wings would be nice it would just be much nicer for transporting down the road i would ruin less mailboxes for those interested in simply safe themselves it's really easy to get you can order it all online or by phone it comes right to your house it's super easy to install they've got 24 7 monitoring so they're watching the place constantly if something goes wrong they will call the police and send the local police out if need be they've got all kinds of sensors they've got free sensors which actually worked really well for us in the case where anna walked through the beam on one of the shop doors when i left one morning they've got motion sensors they've got water sensors if you were to break a pipe and you weren't home they've got co2 sensors the doorbell camera i think that's the coolest thing ever somebody rings the doorbell i go in on my phone i can see exactly who it is i can hit the button talk to them can see exactly what's going on still no sam i mean special guest appearance guy nah i'm gonna like it better over there that makes more sense may as well get things started here pull out the champ mats i think we'll work on the sweeps first just to get those out of the way as we're doing them we'll see make sure all the shanks are good the sweeps are the part that actually goes in the ground it's a part that wears out a lot of these are pretty good but we've got some new ones that we're going to try so we're going to yank them all off and i'll just save the good ones and toss the the ones that aren't any good i'm going to need a removal tool and a hammer so this is the sweep or the tooth whatever you want to call it there nobody calls it a tooth i do sometimes this one's broken check that out now i've got a pretty good case of tinnitus in my ears which means they ring all the time i suppose that comes from years of being a farmer and a hunter and a race car driver so i'm going to put some earplugs in because my ears really hate the sound of repeated clanging metal and my eyes don't like flying pieces of metal either oh that one ain't moving yeah that's gonna need an impact or break it [Music] go the impact route something happened with this one it probably hit something because it pushed up past the spring here that's the lock spring it's supposed to be up here and this actually pushed way up past it so then what happens is i can't get the handy dandy removal tool in behind it it's a bummer i sure wish you could swing a hammer on her all kinds of issues so when i was younger all of these sweeps went on with two bolts it's a little bit different now here's a brand new setup i'm going to show you guys how they work now and a lot of them still do bolt on but this system is so much faster and easier now that they've got it down pretty good so that you don't lose a lot of them it used to be that these sweeps just had two holes in them and bolted directly to the shank right here now what we've got is this locking collar not a collar but clip system so this clip goes behind the attachment piece here and he bolt this piece on and now there are ridges or grooves right here that lock into the clip behind here not a complicated system pretty simple but sometimes if the shanks get tweaked or things get bent just a little bit you can't always get the tool pried in behind them to compress that spring so that you can hammer them off there's the new clip attachment piece all set up before we put the sweep on [Music] and then sometimes you get clips like this that kind of bend and kink their own thing into it so the casting is fine the bolts are fine everything's fine except that clip so we'll fish it out put in a new clip if we can you guys okay did that get you there is our new clip you know what actually that whole shank is bent might be difficult to see on the camera but the third one down there is the one we're looking at it's bent out so it definitely caught something bent some stuff up so i'll change that shank because what happens is everything sits on there funny and then the sweep sits instead of sitting flat it sits at an angle wears itself out funny doesn't do as good a job just one of those things [Music] yeah i was afraid of that i can't get on this one very well [Music] come on [Music] [Applause] [Music] my special guest is here he's made the appearance and as you might have guessed since i used his name it's it's sam tillage man sam that's me that's him and he brought me what's the what's the official word on these uh it is a plus sweep so this is the same shape as what we're putting on that's the standard wear but this is the high wear version so the whole sweep is heat treated uh and hardened and then there's a carbide edge that's added here in this case to the neck a bunch of material added to the point and then underneath the leading edge here is a carbide coating that should give it you know a lot longer life than just a standard wire suite this is a 10 mile an hour field cultivator right and so with a high speed tillage tool the faster you go the faster ground engaging parts wear right yeah so in that instance i think there's some guys that are looking for something that potentially maybe you don't have to replace in the middle of the season even it's enough talking sam let's get to work i've had it with all your science did you make it well you know it's kind of like shuffleboard if you throw it too far you hit the door you don't want to do that but you got to get it out from underneath that's right it's a skill game yep so can you get out of here sam or do we need to call a scientist there are pros and cons being 610 working underneath the field cultivator is not one of the pros you know i like to think i'm pretty dainty for a seven footer i would say the old one here is more than likely bent but we'll just we'll set the new one there just to make sure they line up oh yeah no it's been i'm so funny all right we got about two-thirds of them off here replaced uh a few of the shanks two or three of them and some of the clips on the pieces now we're tossing the new ones on here so we're gonna go every other this is the standard true width that they call it that we've been running and then those ones there got the carbide on them been heat treated so we're going to go every other all the way across this whole thing and see how they compare sam's been clicking them on by hand which i i think it's fine as long as they stay there but i usually like to give them a good hit on the nose with a hammer so i got a special hammer here it's actually it's a torque hammer it squeaks when you hit it so instead of a click wrench like with a torque wrench yes it's just you just get hit it right here it's there you know that's on tight you get the high-pitched whistle and then when you're done that's like that's the so you know we're good the lung spell man am i getting sick of crawling around on the cement [Applause] yeah concrete whatever you could have put the rolling basket down i could have but i wanted to create a challenge for tall guys parkour so that one's standard then we skip one this is a standard and then that end one's a standard so i know it gets different in the middle just trust me i made it tighter yep i studied it [Applause] [Music] what'd you do smells like burning just smelling the smell in the removal too it's so hot [Laughter] oh no [Laughter] i i went over the torque spec that was not a john deere part not a john deere torque hammer no it was an off brand it's weird it's like that thing wasn't even built to take sweeps on and off what can you do it works i mean if it works it works until it doesn't work yeah you just can't get anything nice nowadays what if the whistle still see it still works we're good no there's zero left psych sounds like something it does yeah there's a few random scattered back here i've got the schematic sheet that's what we need otherwise how are we going to put them on yeah otherwise we don't know how to stagger them these outside ones are the coded ones right that's correct according to the schematic the schematic it's dramatic the two yeah two let's see and then the next so then these two on the back uh the first one's regular yes and then that one is as well okay yeah my knees are getting really manly i hear these older than mine ah they're probably not yeah i'm sure they are but sometimes they act younger 20 years of basketball there's only five left and you got five five normals divide by seven square roots 25 it's five yeah it did the math yeah you're good i think we did it sam yeah where's the whistle uh quitting time right now now we just go get some ice for our knees there's a phantom one sitting on the frame right there there's an extra one up there can can you reach it oh thank god i don't have to go under or over good thing i'm 6 10. my knees hurt too much to bend over and pick those up anna could you be of any use here no well that's it's nice of you to come say hi anyway i'm thinking the skid loader bucket is going to be the most efficient for picking these up [Music] so that actually didn't go too bad i've had to go much worse i could have spilled like 30 of them no only two now that digger we'll come back to it tomorrow or the following day and we'll go through the tires on it make sure they're all good we'll hit all the grease zerks on it uh we got a spring to put in the uh in the harrow in the back that came out i think the bolt broke actually which is why why that spring came out so we got to put a spring in there got a little bit of work to do to it yet put the stuff on the tractor for the auto steer but for right now i gotta climb this grain bin dad's climbing one of them up front we got two bins we need to know exactly what we got in there because uh we're looking at marketing some corn which we've been doing but now we need to know really exactly what we've got for bushels here but of course since i'm a millennial i don't climb steep ladders it's dangerous so i'm gonna call in my stunt man here hey stuntman thank you he looks just like me doesn't he it's amazing he does good work now we got some gravel to blade as well i had some more phil brought in on the driveway we're gonna level that out some now that it's been run over a bunch and pack down and hopefully get rid of some of our water issue issues and potholes anna you want a ride you want to ride she does but no right now i'm trying to pull it from the center towards the outside of the driveway because we got so much built up in the center the driveway's too wide when they spread it with the truck it didn't get out towards the edges at all so trying to pull it from the middle to the outside hopefully we'll get it halfway smooth pack it in for a few days and then get just as many loads over top again and just kind of keep trying to build it up we used uh crushed concrete this time this is the gravel we got in the area the stuff we've got in the yard and that's what we've always used but we had some real issues with potholes last year and up here our driveway with all the truck traffic in and out we get a lot of heavy trucks and it was beating it up pretty good there comes a load of rock right now for behind the shed and a special delivery i'm guessing i want to sweepstakes or something we're going to put that load that they've got on right now which is just screened dirty rock we're going to put it on the south there we go south edge of the shed here because in the back there we can get to that easier now because we don't have lp tanks sitting there and it's starting to wash the gravel out from behind the shed when it rains see what i mean it's washing out down here on the back side of the building and down the hill so we're going to fill this whole space with rock keep things in place a little [Music] bit [Music] all right it's 5 30. i got to do family things now thanks for watching
