Sorcerery Points Overview - A Baldur's Gate 3 Quick Tip

what's up everybody renvale here we're back for another bull days gate three quick tips video and today we're talking about sorcery points uh had somebody ask in a recent video if I could explain these and I said yeah I can explain those that's a pretty simple explanation that we could do in under five minutes I think I hope so essentially um Sorcerers get sorcery points every level and when you start off at a low level you only have a few for example my character right now is what level three I think I'm level three and I have three sorcery points available to me you can see that number down here on your hot bar where it says sorcery points and there's a three underneath it sorcery points um can be spent to augment spells or access higher level uh spell slots that's what it looks like on the mouse and keyboard and if I toggle the controller which I'll do right now and then we go in to say the um if I right click here bring up the radio menu on the bottom right you're going to notice where it says sorcery and in red it shows those three points next to like teardrop looking thing um that's how many sorcerer points I have available at my disposal now since we're here on the controller version we can look at this as it is essentially the way this works is as you level up you're going to be able to choose various sorcery abilities social abilities that use sorcerer points so I have chosen for example metamagic twins spell along with metamagic extended spell along with metamagic Quicken spell and each one of these does something slightly different this one costs three sorcery points per level and it makes it takes a spell that costs an action it then requires a bonus action this is really cool if you want to get a little extra bang for your buck at the beginning of a big encounter and you've got the points Spirit spend your points you'll get two Spells at that point you'll be able to cast one as a bonus action and one is a main action which is really awesome to be able to do that and it's really cool also you get extended spell which doubles the duration of conditions and summons and so on and so forth and then metamagic twins spell which allows you to spin a sorcerer point to um basically take a spell that normally only targets one person and now it can Target additional creatures and this one is the one that I use the most frequently in combat because you can take um I'll show you if I can bring this up really quick here on the menu normally if I go to craft cast chromatic orb as an example I Choose You know what it's going to be like so and then you know choose the level and I'm gonna cast it out and I get one AOE looking spell like that but if I use Quicken magic over here or twin spell I should say I can now cast to different orbs one here and I could put one over here too and as soon as I do that it'll cast it so that is extremely powerful to be able to have two of those going out at the same time it's really really cool so um that's a quick version of sorcery points how they work you get them every level you get more as you level up you'll get more abilities as you level up and you can use them to enhance the spells that you have with your sorcerer which is one of the pros to the class because you might not have the same range of spells that a wizard will have but you can do really interesting things with prolonged durations multiple targets aoes so on and so forth so like subscribe and hit the Bell icon so you never miss any more of my updates or quick tips for Baldur's Gate 3 daily streams at 11AM you can also join our Discord links are down below support if you can with memberships and Beyond see you in the next video
