SOLO CAMPING IN THE NEW SETUP / BARRINGTON TOPS *EP25*

g'day everyone welcome back so i'm just uh leaving work buddy finally is [Music] [Music] it's finally the weekend and i'm heading up to barrington tops this weekend or barrington tops state forest i think yeah hopefully i can get up up there with a bit of daylight to find some cool camp spots another thing is it's a solo weekend beck's at home um yeah i know a lot of people that were actually going camping at different places but they've all decided to pull the pin so i'm you know got the new train canopy so i'm heading out for a yeah weekend on my own i don't usually do this it's gonna be a bit different um yeah solo camping is just one of those things that not heaps of people do well i don't oh i don't know i've only done it once it's always a bit weird your senses are real heightened because you're on your own it's just something different sit back relax and um yeah come on a weekend away on meow [Music] uh so i'm here at gloucester just got some um groceries for the weekend starting to get on in the day there goes flynn 43. yeah i thought maybe just in case but um maybe book uh pole blue for the night just in case i did get up later than i thought so yeah it's probably another hour or so at least but um yeah i thought i'd make a quick coffee oh how good is this these stanley flasks piping hot since this morning still there yeah alrighty i'm just gonna go next door get some diesel we're good to go head up into the hills so finally off road finally almost into technically the barrington tops but um i've just pulled over on the side of the road here and every time i come up here um i know it's always so bumpy so i always like to how good are these lights i like to um air down i go down to about 25 just on um fire trails and things like this just gives a smoother ride so let's air down and yeah get up there and set up camp and have some beers there we go all done that was quick um another thing that i like to do when i come up here into the forest or bush or whatever on on fire trails i also um switch it straight into four high i just find my car drives better especially around the corners so yeah it's looking into four high get into uh pole blue oh here we are pole blue it's actually not that many people here this group behind me group over here but um yeah someone's already left some sticks there i've got some sticks but first of all we'll crack a beer and uh set up camp then i'll run you through my camp once i'm got the fire going and it's all set up just want to be quiet because it's a bit awkward around here i'll give you a uh quick run through of how i've set my camp up for the night i've got the world started off as the world's worst fire they're seeing bloody smokey ass got the austral rv director's share up front i've got um the oztrail rv awning i think it's full i've got the king dawn in the wall in there just fits in the sail track up there then i've got the crash pad single on the stretcher and that and how's this setup just simmering away in that how about this chopping board i bought one from [Music] iron bay shopping boards cost yeah just a quick walkthrough while i uh cook some dinner have some views yeah better late than never thanks surprisingly not that busy here so what happened before all right yeah so i guess that's me done and dusted for the night yeah i'm gonna hit the hay but i'll see you guys in the morning hopefully tomorrow the weather isn't like what they say it's going to be i think they're expecting like 10 to 20 mil or something from midday i guess but we'll see what happens hopefully it's more coastal than um yeah anything else although we're quite close to the coast so it's a bit hit and miss up here the weather is like the higher country up here can change at any minute i think pole blues at like 1450 meters or something like that so i wouldn't mind if it snowed overnight and i woke up to the whole place bear white yeah that'd be cool anyway i'll see you guys in the morning cracker night good morning everyone so yeah i'm just going to cook up some breakfast and they are just getting used to this whole new setup got the induction cooker going if anyone's got any tips on how to cook efficiently with induction cookers drop them down in the comments below i'd love to know some new to this a little bit of chorizo a bit of bacon and i got some uh some eggs from home having chickens at home is is epic but they taste so much better than than um just the eggs you get from your local supermarket unless you get free range of course but they just taste better yeah i'll cook all this up then um yeah we'll go for a wander see what we can find around here be good if we can find some brumbies floating around i haven't seen any up here yet so i don't really have much of a plan but um yeah we've got to explore go down some tracks that haven't been down there's a lot of um because it's winter at the moment um up at barrington tops there's a lot of seasonal closures beautiful morning this cruisy day see what happens get some free range eggs from home those things are so tasty does that get any better look at that [Music] [Applause] [Applause] all right yeah so as you saw yeah packed up but um yeah i thought i'd go do the pole blue swamp walk um about an hour a round trip and i've just been stopping because over there you can hear the brumbies rooting around so i'm going a long way around to them i could have gone the other way but let's um let's go for a walk and see if we can find him fingers crossed i haven't seen him [Applause] [Music] yet [Music] so [Music] [Music] so i don't know if you guys can um see that but off in the background there there's some darker clouds coming over around newcastle i'm not not sure about here but like i said last night i think there was supposed to be a fair bit of weather a bit of rain 10 to 20 mil maybe but hopefully i'm gonna be far enough west that i don't get it but only time will tell so yeah it's been a beautiful little walk 2.7 kilometers so i don't know i should have bought some water bad it's a bit silly not to but yeah we're gonna head back to the car and i'll maybe go check out some lookouts and things around just the usual places that are gonna go on that i like to go and have a look at but uh yeah it's beautiful happy i recommend if you're staying at paul blue yeah go do the walk good for you oh look at that it's getting real dark could be interesting night tonight the only thing that i do need to do is film a full walkthrough on the train canopy that i got from its alloy so which you would have seen in the video before that's already out so yeah that's all i've got to do today how good this is beautiful so there you go first look out for the morning i don't know what i'm going to do today really got no plans but devil's whole lookout let's go check it out i really thought there would have been a few more people up in um the tops this weekend there's no one up here it's great it's so quiet and um the weather is holding off beautifully at the moment it's not even that windy so i didn't really think that one through did i it's body misty and cloudy [Music] but just imagine how beautiful this would look if there was no clouds still quite pretty alrighty there's a little bit of rain starting to come in so i'll pin it back to the car and um yeah go back past pole blue now and uh yeah i don't know go check out that side [Music] i've been here plenty of times but this never gets old look at this place it's just like this whole pine forest creepy at the same time last time i come here that car park there was absolutely bloody packed so yeah i have a coffee and after that i'll uh yeah go find a campsite and i think that'll do me for the rest of the day [Music] foreign [Applause] [Music] um so i'm just driving along tub tabaraka i think it's called road or trail and um there's this big hairpin turn down the halfway down it i saw um some rapids up in up in this little creek area i know so i thought i'd come here and just quickly stop and check it out but it looks like some cool little waterfalls i haven't seen these before let's go check it out oh yeah all right back to the car keep going [Applause] hmm do so foreign so so i found this little spot um i don't know what even more what it's called it's in barrington top state conservation park or something but i just followed some little track down here um yeah it wasn't a hard drive or anything but um yeah nice open little area this is going to be me for the night um yeah got the fire bloody cranking there's heaps of firewood all cut up around here so it seems like this place gets used a bit um yeah i'm going to grab a beer i don't know the likes enjoy the serenity got some music playing um now i'm going to cook up a brisket in the 12 volt oven tonight so i'll take you just for a run through on that as well but for now i'm going to go do a full walkthrough on yeah this but you guys have already seen it so [Music] [Music] nobody else [Music] oh [Music] um so i got the chainsaw out but i got the fire cranking got some good good base in there big logs in there got some wet stuff next to it getting that heat getting a bit of smoke onto it to dry it out and then all this stuff in here all that good stuff over there that's all bone dry that was from a little site just over there so i thought i'd take that as well throw it under the cover yeah oh that's how i'm gonna kick back enjoy it i don't know i might cook dinner soon yeah that's what i'm doing it's all those saturdays how do you it's funny when you solo camping you hear you hear stuff it's creepy but i don't know it's just different it might not look like much but i can get fancy sometimes massive beetle cool looking come and join me so i've got the travel buddy oven on i've actually got a insulated door kit that i bought from somerville metalworks preheating yeah whip up some beef brisket and slaw sliders [Applause] it's actually really good um oh how good is that i don't know if you can see that man you know it's just falling it's starting to fall apart brioche bun here like american style sauce get that on there man well i think that's me for the night hell yeah all right let's have a taste oh [Applause] [Applause] oh man right here i'll leave it here [Applause] for tonight i'm gonna see you guys in the morning it's gonna be good [Applause] who would have thought solo camping eh is this good [Applause] i'll see you in the morning oh i thought i'd probably put a little bit extra firewood on there seeing it's pouring down rain right now i don't know we'll see what happens it's freezing too man it'd be good if it snowed right now i wouldn't complain about my fire going out good morning everybody [Applause] well it's safe to say that it bloody rained all night it's absolutely drenched around here one good thing is i know my fire's gonna be out i'll get the shovel out and i'll turn it around just to make sure but i'm gonna say it was probably 20 mil of rain last night at least so yeah but i had great sleep that thing's like sleeping on a cloud just great but um yeah i'm just gonna i don't know i'm gonna pack the swag up first then i'll have some breakfast and then i'll uh mosey on out of here so yeah pretty easy little morning all right let the fun begin hey it's gonna be yeah not fun putting this away [Music] foreign [Music] well there you go i got breakfast ready um yeah still pouring down rain a path packed up just got to pack up the awnings now um yeah so what i might do is i'll leave you guys here um yeah i'm going to eat some breaky you know pack that up and then head out i don't think i'm going to be filming anything on the way out is this going to be too wet so yeah might be a little bit greasy on the way up it's not that hard but it should be interesting so i might let some more air out of the tires just just in case good extra traction but yeah hope you like this episode guys um yeah something different let me know in the comments below if i should do some more solo stuff um something different it's very yeah being self-reliant is they're pretty i know it's pretty good to be self-reliant you know it's always you know you're always on a little bit of a little bit edgy because um well you're like you know something you never know what could
