full-size kitchen that packs up to weigh less than 30 kilos a cracking way to save space in your drawers for under 50 bucks here at 10 bits of gear that you never knew existed that'll change the way you camp there's no doubt about it that Australians are really at the forefront when it comes to camping products and innovation camping as a whole has changed in the last 20 years like you wouldn't imagine when I was a kid about two decades ago camping was very simple it involved a full drop if you were lucky a tarp and maybe an esky but things have changed for the good in the last decade I reckon in the last decade you seen more innovative products come out of Australia than just about anywhere else in the world and there's one company in particular it really has been leading the charge and has developed a stack of new products that literally have changed the way we camp I'm in the little country town of Gloucester in New South Wales and this is the home of drifter drifter and one of the leaders when it comes to innovation and on creating camping fronts they've really led the charge in Australian offroad history so today we're going to catch up with Kai tayo down here drift up and we're gonna run through a bunch of products that are going to change the way you can really really cool products that I'm very excited to show you around but first I want to take you down a trip down memory lane so you look at one product that literally change the camping landscape in Australia for good [Applause] [Music] this humble wooden box might not look like much but check this out this camp kitchen made a huge leap towards the portable kitchen setups we enjoy today [Music] so kado there's a lot of history in this one camp here amazed how did it all begin right so this here is one of the original drifter kitchens right and basically I've Bogart me me dad was stripping around the town wide desert and he found that there was a need for sort of a kitchen box that sets up and keeps you stove off the ground gives you more bench space so sorting and when he got back from the trip he thought how can we make this better so it's a really simple box got a bit storage underneath it a nice little draw a spot in the top for your stove and somewhere for your soy sauce that's very much one thing I really love about this this particular kitchen is over 20 years old yet the brand-new ones that you sell today the design hasn't changed that much the been refined of course but the practicality still then it shows once you're onto a good thing why change it I'm saying the ones we make now are pretty similar same material same design just a little bit of refine [Music] so why is this box so important well they essentially pave the way for custom draw systems in the back of full drives I reckon one of the key things about setting any Turing vehicle up is getting a good storage system for the back of it now it does two things that secures all your gear so when you go on over corrugations and go on on family trips there's not bits of stuff flying everywhere and becomes actually a bit of a hazard but also a really important point is it also keeps your gear really organized so you can access anything in the back your vehicle I've sort of got a bit of a rule with setting up any full driver mind if I can't get to any bit of equipment inside that forward rather than two minutes well it's not organized well enough another really cool feature that is almost in all the drift of designs is having a table that also doubles as a bench so this is actually a table it'll slide all the way out you can set it up in camp but also if you just on the saw the road you want to make a little bit of lunch you can pull it out and use that as a bit of bench space which i think is really really handy obviously a fridge slide these ones have built into the drawers these are a custom one done by drifter they're on a typical drawer you'll have runners here when you're not waste about an inch to two inches of space but these particular design uses Teflon runners and therefore you maximize the size of the drawer and as a really smooth action and as far as I'm concerned there's less to go wrong even the most basic of drawer designs will really help you out around the bush camp in make life so much easier you can customize it to suit your needs and later on down the track - you put things like water tanks in here I'm LED lights your whole 12 volt system the options are really are endless and you can find a way that makes camping a heck of a lot easier for you this is what my drawers used to look like now they look like this I've got to be honest with you Mike I had no idea that this simple and very affordable price would change the way I set up the back of my arm Tory's up in all my football drives it was until you hooked me up with a couple of these bags Mike and I've got a bag for absolutely everything like all my spices and condiments are in one or my cups and plates and cutlery is in another and I've even used one of these as a tool bag so I carry sockets spanners keeps a heavy stuff they're super strong all of us and I reckon that's a absolute game changer when you put all your gear in the back ear drawers when you're back at home and you're getting ready for a big trip everything's laid out beautifully and super neat the second you go off-road and you spend one night under the stars yeah everything is upside down all over the place and good luck trying to find that you know spoon that you got buried somewhere down the back but this is a good way to organize all your gear isn't it you guys spend just about every weekend off-road candy and so you must just work inspiration from the weekend and because you're making over here in Gloucester you just can't what come back to the work time go right we need a bag for this you know this basic build one back I'm sorry but we've been testing a gear of the weekend maybe it's about what we made before we're testing it out and we think are these different zipper on earth needs a handle here that's something we can come back and adjust that but within a week it's already done over on the website so that's one of the beauties about getting your gear made right here in Australia is you've got the freedom to do that just add little additions and just continually improve the products they make you're more practical on the back before were drivers or they're right these are a really cool bit of kit and I reckon every single forward driver Mike needs to have a couple of days if they're serious about getting off the baby player well what you're looking at here folks is the IGT now same car I use this in the bush many times before and I absolutely love this setup now it's super lightweight and it packs away into almost the tiniest space in the back year for a drive you'd hardly even notice it Mike tell us why these are so popular so the IGT is a really good way of incorporating kitchen into your drawers without taking up too much space it's interchangeable with different cooking styles as well so at the moment but the gas stove here and we've got two in fills you can swap that out for a charcoal cooker and also we've got the extension bench here which packs away on the drawers it comes out settle eggs go on there and you've got yourself a bit more bench space so this is what I love about it you can customize this to suit your particular needs so absolutely if you want put another bench on the end of that you could if you wanted to make an L shape off the back now cord you've got corner benches that can bring the return back this way it's very customizable to your setup so this at the moment is a gas cooker you can cook on their bench spicy your house uh bench basic but a chopping board in there as well yeah um chucking this charcoal Cooper mate so we're gonna do it's like this on out okay so take that out you're done with yep and it just slides in just like that yeah yeah they're like so then you like chalk up track that in there and you've got a beautiful charcoal barbecue to cook you made on look a lot of people just wouldn't even consider taking charcoal at and the bush because to get the charcoal going you need one of those sort of charcoal starters and they're big usually you go out to get a solution for that day so it can be really hard to start charcoal if you don't know what you do and say I've got this product here this is a charcoal starter so simply just fold this out so with this unit here you'll put a file atto at the bottom fill it up with charcoal and the heat will gradually build up through it Lata your charcoal is around ten minutes then it's good to go you can tip it into your little tray chuck your grill nuts on top and you're good to go nice even heat no this is good enough what a little unit this is as well mate so I see it's got this little wine up so you can actually vary the different light that yep yes a girl sits and adjusted drop your height there too even though the head of it yeah well look at that it's just such a well built little outfit and you Scrabble I don't you swear by cooking on a yeah just gives that flavor I suppose that's what you want you're out camping you got a little bit time you keep back at camp get the charcoal going and have spikes like you've never had it before Mike [Music] you'll never guess what's hiding inside this bags check this out just right here of course is a fire pit it's made by Snow Peak and it's made fully out of stainless steel a really good quality bit of kit that's super compact as well and as you see it packs down to well a nice little flat value they even put almost anywhere in the back your forward Drive now as you know a lot of places around Australia won't think you have a fire unless it's in a fire pit and it also makes cooking really really easy this attachment right here converts the fire pit into an outdoor barbecue it comes with a whole stack of little options like this Tariq and that is really neat you know just about every camp setup I've ever seen comes with camp poles in some sort of description under an awning or a camper trailer you name it it's going to camp pole now check out these ones from drifters now these onto a traditional tent pole like this but you can turn them on and they have LED lights that are actually in built inside the tent pole comes with a dimmer switch as well so you can dim it down and check this out if the bugs are bad well you can make it 100% Ambar that'll keep the bugs away I reckon that's really cool and they come in different configurations this one here just clips basically onto any sort of pole like this you've also got spreader bars so if you've got something like an awning you can use it to basically spread your awning out you've got cool light underneath but it also acts as a really practical tool to keep it nice and taut so water doesn't pull up inside your awning it's another clever little idea again that'll transform the way you can [Music] yeah I've got to admit I haven't taken a tarp camping for years actually since I was a kid really we used to sleep under a top you know dad you just wring it out between a couple of trees and get the flawless amount of wind and the thing would flap all night and keep you awake I'll tell you what times have changed technology has changed and this believe it or not is a tarp but a very clever top so this is a hexa tarp Evo Pro sets up with two large poles on the outside two small poles on the far sides and now basically the ropes pull it from all different directions which means that it's really really stable in the wind right so when you're setting up on the beach that's something where it gets really windy it's not going to blow over and I'll keep nice and say won't flap too much in the windy they make lots of noise the other good advantage without pulling from all sides is there's nowhere for the water to pool so mines hundreds set it all run down the sides there's a high point in the center and yeah no way that you're going to be able to pool water which is a big advantage I suppose the fact that is quite adjustable as well you can set the pole height to whatever height you want you can set the ropes at different angles so you can buy a city set up to suit the conditions so if you know the wind is rocking in from that side you might be able to put this side down quite low and then have a bigger space on the other yeah I reckon it's um it's unreal mate what I really like about it is the fact that once you set this up it's not going anywhere and you can set your whole camp around this so if you want to go away for a day trip maybe your camp that phrase are all in for a week you set this up go explore your full drive all day come back everything's gonna be safe and secure underneath this to change you from the summer and also to protect you in the rain and this packed up really small couple of tent poles and bang good weight saving and space saving is really important when you're touring so we've thought about or left [Music] now if you're looking for the ultimate camping setup you really need to try and save space wherever you can so ideally you want to look for products that either stack into each other or have multiple users now here a range of products that do exactly that now I want to take you through this one in particular this one here is the cook set by uni flame now as you can see it's got one great big pot which is great quality I open it up well you're gonna get a whole stack of smaller pots inside basically everything you need in a camp kitchen can be found in the one big unifying pot so I'm talking you've got a massive big pot here it's a frying pan small little sauce pans as well as containers to hold all sorts of things a colander you don't need anything else and it all fits back in together in one little thing so it saves a stack of space and it'll give you all the luxuries that you'll need back at camp to make the ultimate gourmet meal what I've seen here at drip today is absolutely blowing my mind I reckon as Australians we've got a lot to be thankful lot of companies like drifter that are manufacturing creating products right here in Australia with the sole purpose to make camping that much better for us loot kaito and the boys at drifter camp every single weekend and are constantly improving and growing their range of products they've even just started making their own soft shackles bridles and other recovery gear right here in Gloucester if you want to learn more about drift up the gear you saw on this video or any of the other 500 products they sell you can ahead a drifter comte you or visit them here in gloucester or in their brisbane store they sell online and ship worldwide well now's the part where i want to hear from you guys i want you guys to let me know the coolest camping product you've seen anywhere might be something that you bought from the store or something you're knocked up in the back shed either way let us know in the comments below or tag us on Instagram I'm really
