hey what's up everybody welcome to Boston tactics I'm gonna let you in on a little bit of a secret tear right so I wear my body armor basically everywhere I go I wear it to bed I wear it when I take a shower I wear it to school I even wear to weddings sometimes you know under that big suit but lately people have been calling me they've been calling me the P word they've been calling me paranoid like what who does that dude I'm not paranoid calm down I'm prepared I call myself prepared I'm well prepared for anything that comes have you seen the news lately dude I'm just prepared notification oh crap c.b.c said that the corona virus is spreading to Canada hold on one second so has ever seen I'm not paranoid yo what is up everybody welcome to bashment tactics joining me at the range today I think I have a pretty cool video plan for you guys so today we're gonna be shooting homemade DIY body armor I made it over the last couple days and I'm gonna cut to that and show you a little bit of how I made it how I constructed it and yeah what we're gonna be shooting today all right cut to that [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] alright guys so I finished up all night cutting with the cutting wheel on the grinder and finished chopping up these ceramic tiles glued together with PL which is like a construction adhesive it's very strong very hard so we have three test plates here that we're gonna try them so test plate number one we have this little less than quarter inch diamond plating and we're gonna be having these 3/8 inch ceramic tiles two of them so I guess three quarter inch and we're gonna be running those right here and then we I have this half inch horse mat rubber so we're gonna have that on top of the ceramic tiles to see what kind of shrapnel we can catch from the bullets and from the tiles because as soon as those bullets are gonna hit they're gonna break up and they're gonna they're gonna really explode and those tiles are gonna send shrapnel everywhere so you really don't want that going to the side of your arms while you're in a fight or whatever so you really want protection from that moving on to test plate number two we have the same kind of steel or diamond plate where we're gonna be running this horse matte rubber after the steel so we have steel rubber and then again our double ceramic tiles so we're gonna be gluing this horse matte rubber to the metal with Gorilla Glue or PL to really get that nice and tight to really prevent that shrapnel from hitting the plate and spreading out towards the outside all right for our test plate number three right here same the steel again but this time we're gonna be running no rubber so this is our control subject and yeah I'm curious to see what the difference will be in shrapnel prevention out of these three plates I'm guessing this one will splat everywhere leave you're pretty banged up but uh I'm guessing these ones I don't know they'll be tough to tell we'll have to love to see at the range and then this final plate that I have here is a full chestplate see if you can see that so I got these uh these arm slits right here so your shoulder can move over for good mobility and this plate is designed to fit in my plate carrier vest which I'll show you later on the video this is gonna be my personal plate I'll line it with these ceramic tiles again and yeah alright guys as you can see I finished assembling all the plates hook them up together nice and tight with this gorilla tape so I'll just go over them real quick here we have test plate number one with our horse mat double ceramic tile quarter inch steel plate number two we had our ceramic and then our rubber PL with that adhesive to the steel test plate number three we had our just purely ceramic tiles and steel so I told you I was gonna show you my plate carrier vest so here it is I'll just crack this sucker open so these vests are designed to hold any full-scale chest or back body armor plate so here I have my homemade plate cuz I don't have any legit body armor you can slide that sucker right in there both with shut and ideally this should be able to stop the bullet but that's why we have the second half of this video to check how strong and how structurally stable these plates are so I'll see you back at the range and let's fire some good ol fashioned guns at these bad boys alright guys so I hope you enjoyed that a little bit a little bit of how I made it how I put that all together and so as I said in the in the behind the scenes action we have three test plates we add test point number one two and three so so here at the range we're gonna start off with test plate number one as our control cuz I think that's gonna be the weakest and it's gonna collect the least amount of shrapnel so we'll start off nice and small today we're gonna actually skip the 22lr I know it's a big jump it's a big jump for mankind so we'll jump straight to the 22 Magnum with Full Metal Jacket rounds and I really hope it stops if it doesn't that's gonna be a little embarrassing so let's kick this thing off right and let's get started all right guys so we're gonna start nice and low with the 22 Magnum let's check it up alright so I tried to go top left on the armor so here we are take a gander at that sucker so we destroyed that ceramic tile but there's no dent on the steel so we're all good there milk-jug totally intact very minimal shrapnel coming out there just a little bit of that ceramic and a little bit of bullet you can see that lead there on the right side nothing so let's bump it up to a real caliber with the 243 I really hope it stops that all right guys so next up we have a monstrous jump from this 22 Magnum to a 243 so that's a lot more gunpowder similar sized bullet but the biggest thing is that this is soft point so they're made to mushroom out and expand upon impact so that'll give our armor the best shot to stop this bullet you try go dead center on the bottom I felt some ceramic on my face um how let's go check it out alright guys so rest in peace my GoPro hopefully this sucker slower oh yeah I think needs to take a beating alright so this is the carnage on the table tons of ceramics oh no oh oh well okay moving on look at our milk jug I don't see any holes in that sucker looks pretty good to me moving on to the plate just pull this up on here and we stopped it so this is our ceramic it did exactly what it's supposed to do so the ceramic is just made to ceramics just made to take the brute force of the impact on the bullet and it's so hard and so compact that it breaks up that bullet before it can hit the steel and the Steel's job is just to take the remnants of the bullet and stop those so I'm really excited that that's stopped and that that worked so we'll have to move it up to a different test plate because this one lost all its integrity and here I just wanna give you a closer look at that it didn't even leave a monster dead you can see I don't know if you can see that that's kind of like this it's just bulging just a little bit so you can feel a bulge on the back okay let's move on to a different test plate and shoot it with a bigger caliber alright guys so next up this is Round three is against test plate number one with the rubber piece and the front of the tiles so we're gonna bump it up from the 243 to the 308 so it's very similar amount of gun powder just a way bigger bullet that shot pieces everywhere alright so I saw ceramic fly everywhere so let's check it out this is the carnage on the table moving down to our plate it looks let's see oh man we stopped it so this is the Bulge here section on camera then let's take a look at the ceramic so this must have been the bottom piece and we hit it at the top here and that top there is nothing left when straight through the rubber as it's hop right through here that's our entrance and no exit as you can see here milk jug is completely fine all right we got to bump it up to even harder and even more powerful round alright guys so round number four I just taped up our sheet back there I think we had enough ceramic that'll it'll be tough enough so we're gonna be shooting a 20-gauge slug this is a 65 caliber hunk of lead look at that sucker so this thing is just pure mass that's compared to the 308 so it's just pure pure brute force and muscle so we're gonna smack it I'm really guessing this will stop but I'll shoot anyways let's check it up so here we can see our exaggerated entrance through that rubber you actually see a hole there it was so big that I couldn't even self-heal after then ceramic is destroyed and here's our metal plate with tons of shaft coming off but a less dent smaller dent in the three away this was a 308 this was a 20-gauge but can see from our destroyed milk jug that there was that there was some shrapnel that came off so shotgun really splits up and really gets rekt and really expands from that shrapnel on the metal so we'll bump it up on a new test plate alright guys for the fifth and final round or hopefully final round we're gonna be using the 303 British Full Metal Jacket round so pure copper bullet compared to our soft point 308 round so this is the difference here a lot more gunpowder and a bigger bullet - this is gonna be coming out of this beautiful 303 British Lee Enfield made in 1917 okay let's check that this is the moment of truth I guess so we went straight through our ceramic tile as you can see no surprise there this is our entrance into the rubber you have to see a little bit of copper in there and let's see Oh Matt it's docket that's insane I can't believe it stopped it again this Homer just keep surprising me so this is the plate that we yelled to the to the middle you can see it's all separated now but it still stopped that is so crazy I did not expect that much integrity out of these plates to sub all the way to that 303 British Full Metal Jacket that's insane alright guys so for the last test it's gonna be a structural integrity test so I'm gonna be shooting the plate that we just shot with the 303 British with SKS these are also Full Metal Jacket rounds and 7.62 by 39 to be exact so let's try it oh yeah structural integrity not the greatest what a sick gun I'm guessing that SKS round went straight through you could almost see the milk jugs explode from from way back there so here's the carnage when rate through are broken up ceramic you could actually see that bullet hole already right through that steel right you are rubber plate our entrance I don't know must have been somewhere here this rubber like reabsorbs that bullet after it goes through separate our steel a little bit and straight through here's our milk jugs all empty so as you can see our structural integrity of our plates minimum zero nada so they're very good very good way better than a thought at stopping one bullet all the way up to that 303 which is really impressive it that really surprised me actually so but after that not good at all I would not trust that after you take one shot but if you're in a gunfight and you get hit in the chest with one shot hey you'd be alright I guess second shot you'd be finding yourself in a hospital bed not as not as sitting pretty so let's run it to the outro e alright guys thanks so much for joining me at the range of bashment tactics today and ripping to shreds this homemade DIY body armor that actually ended up working it worked way better than I thought it would and I'm really impressed in myself and I'm really impressed with how well that body armor held up against those those really powerful calibers I looked up real quick and apparently this would be considered level 3 err 500 body armor which is level to stop up to a 308 soft point and we went even a little above that with our 303 FMJ so once again like the video if you enjoyed it subscribe for more action to come and comment down below what you'd like to see next for body armor suggestions this new series of body armor so thanks so much for joining me through age stay right with the red white and I'll see you next time peace [Music] you
