AFM precision gun reviews here today I wanted to compare these two polymer-framed striker fired pistols they're both designed for concealed carry and they both carry ten rounds in their flush fit magazines you might be familiar with them they're two of the most popular guns on the market the Sig p3 65 and the Glock 26 Gen 5 now they look pretty similar and they feel a similar role but they have a few key differences we're gonna go over what those differences are mostly in terms of dimensions but maybe you will look at some other things too when considering overall length of these pistols which is the dimension that either does not matter at all because you're carrying in a rearward position and the in the three to six o'clock carry position or it matters a lot because you're carrying in the appendix position where that barrel might poke you in different ways we're looking at a slight difference but significant enough to matter in the appendix position and that is a length of 6.5 inches overall or six and a quarter if you're just measuring the slide it does come out a tiny bit here on the beaver tail and also this back of the grip is a little bit further back than the slide but I don't know if we should count that so if we're talking about just the slide it's six point two five inches the Sig overall from the back of this which is slightly rearward of the slide to the muzzle is five point eight inches so the length of slide which is a little bit longer on the Glock 26 can be seen as a negative when considering carry but it also makes for an advantage because the Glock 26 does have a longer sight radius we push these up so that these sights are lined up in the rear you can see that the the sight radius is a little bit longer on the Glock 26 about a half an inch now still considering the lengths of these pistols one thing that that effects is the barrel length and that is actually not as big of a difference as the overall length because the Glock has a three point four three inch barrel and the sig has a three point one inch barrel and the way I have these lined up is muzzle to chamber muzzle to a little bit past the chamber here and that's the difference is about three tenths of an inch three point one versus three point four three so interestingly the sig does not lose as much barrel length as it saves on overall length now I want to take a look at the width of the pistols as you can see the Glock is thicker than the Sig but they still hold the same number of rounds and spoiler alert they're the same height but we'll look at that in a minute the width of the sig is one point zero six inches and the width of the Glock is one point two six inches so two tenths of an inch nearly a quarter of an inch difference so that's gonna matter whether you're concealing appendix or five o'clock four o'clock six o'clock 3 o'clock whatever if that's inside the waistband it's going to matter outside the waistband maybe not as much as far as comfort is concerned although it will still print out on that over garment if you're wearing them on the outside the waistband configuration if you're open carrying nobody who cares but then you'd have a bigger gun than this now we're taking a look at the height of the guns now these are both standing on their sights I have them both configured with three metal night sights Sig comes with those standard Glock comes with the worst plastic sights ever in the history of guns and these two guns are basically the same size what the manufacturers state is 4.17 on the Glock and four-point-three on the Sig so essentially one tenth of an inch and a and the reason for that is because the sig has a angle on the magazine you see how the grip angles that way and it's this portion that is one tenth of an inch taller as you can see maybe I should have done this this way it's that portion that is one tenth of an inch taller and that's really it if we slide this in front here they kind of cross and we see that in the back here they're the same height so I would call this a negligible difference and while we're here let's just quickly take a look at the sig extended pinky grip so we're pulling out the flush baseplate and now we have this is also a ten round magazine and you can see that it's quite a bit taller however what this allows is a full grip potentially depending on your hand size on the sig so I can demonstrate that here the Glock is definitely always going to give me a two finger grip 100% of the time unless I get a Glock 19 magazine and then that extends it the sig however with this grip I can just get my pinky on there so that's nice to have and it doesn't really extend it with the flush baseplate I can still almost get a pinky on there actually it's it's somewhere in between so some people will definitely be hanging off some people might get more than me because my hands are not tiny so that's interesting to note that there's a difference here in the the space from the bottom of the trigger guard to the bottom of the grip if we look at it there like that and that's an important difference and that's a distinction that not many people will make though they'll measure the overall height but a very important length is the amount of grip herbal surface you have so there's that and there's another measure of gripper Bowl surface that I like to look at and that is the amount that you can get on the back from the put them use it this way from the beaver tail area or wherever the grip comes to meet the the slide and frame and the bottom so on the back it looks like they're roughly the same as you can see there now I kind of like this sort of perspective especially when we're talking about the weights of the pistols and you can sort of see the the girth comparison with the magazine the sig is 17 point 8 ounces and without the magazine the Glock is nineteen point four ounces now I decided that I didn't want to trust the manufacturers specs for the weight so here I am weighing the sig at eighteen point five ounces and the Glock at twenty one point nine ounces both with the empty magazine in the gun I also want to show you the difference in bore axis and you also get a look at these sites but it seems the bore axis is roughly the same is kind of hard I kinda need to shift to show you one and the other the Glock looks like it's lower because it's wider so the squat appearance is deceptive but from my perspective they ride just about the same height that bore axis if you get a Glock always get the Glock night sights the original Glock sights are the worst thing ever if I haven't mentioned that remember it another comparison worth making is that of the trigger so here we have this Zig trigger which is a single piece of metal slightly curved the flat face very comfortable it's broad and I like it we're gonna look at the trigger pull sounds really weird when you're dry firing but I've come to learn that in dry firing not much really translates to live shooting so this is really theoretical and we're gonna look at this reset so there's that I don't have a trigger pull gauge so we're not gonna be able to measure the weights but that trigger I'll tell you about in a second here's the Glock trigger this one is a polymer trigger the Gen 5 did get rid of those serrations on the front which I appreciate it's a little bit flatter of a face but it does have the safe action lever there and here's the reset I would say the reset here is shorter therefore superior however the trigger pull the weight of the trigger overall so we have let's describe these now here we have take up there's nothing gritty about this there's no resistance you just boom right to the wall I mean there's a little resistance but it's like a quarter of a pound of pressure then we come straight to this wall there's a little bit of creep before it breaks but the pressure required is undoubtedly lighter pressure than is required on the Glock the Glock has take up that has it requires greater pressure to get through the take up of the Glock it comes to a very hard wall the wall on the Glock requires more pressure than the cig to overcome and a lot of people like Glock triggers but a lot of people also dislike Glock triggers I am fine with it however I think that the the clearly defined wall and the weight of that clearly defined wall specifically the weight of it to overcome that weight is more likely to get a shooter to pull the the muzzle off their sight picture so for that and in general I prefer this trigger I prefer that trigger pull and I prefer this reset so what are you gonna do they're both fine they're both fine triggers I think I like the sig trigger better overall this is pretty difficult to do on camera but we're measuring the trigger reach and I preset these calipers I've never actually measured these in comparison to one other so we're gonna look together sixty six point four millimeters also known as two point six one six zero inches now we'll switch as for the Glock it's a little bit harder for me to hold but we've got a preset and we're looking at 2.75 2.75 inch trigger each also known as sixty nine point eight four millimeters now I suppose we're getting pretty in-depth that we can do a takedown this might be difficult for me we're gonna pull back on the slide ever so slightly drop those tabs and then pushing forward and you have a browning till barrel design double cap to recoil spring striker block safety the sig we lock to the rear you pull down this takedown lever and kind of hold it forward would be ideal but we're gonna let that go and then it slides off and in here we have dual captive recoil spring browning action striker block safety comparing the internals somewhat similar the sig has this sort of spring-loaded trigger the Glock trigger doesn't reset unless the sear is reset so we push that forward and then the sear lets go and stays back which is unique to Glocks as far as I know and some of the smaller Springfield's like the XDS and I think the Hellcat too as for rails is much longer rails on the sig all the way down all the way down Glock small tabs the sig has a modular chassis this grip frame can be replaced slide lock slide release lever operates as a release slide lock slide release lever operates as a release both are very easy to activate magazine release that's the Glock 26 that's the Sig looking at it vertically that's the Glock 26 that's the SiC so there you have it comparison of the Glock 26 and the Sig P 3 65 to polymer-framed striker-fired pistols that hold 10 rounds in their flush fit magazines which one's the best for concealed carry it's up to you to decide I've given you all the info that's it thanks for
