overflow [Music] [Music] is [Music] oh [Music] oh [Music] overflow let's go to matthew chapter 26 verse 6. covenant church thank you for being with us today we so appreciate you today i'm preaching on the subject seeing precious things our theme for 2021 is seeing the kingdom and in this season we're dealing with different things that we see and so last week we're seeing the future this week he's seeing the vision and my message is entitled seeing precious things chapter 26 and verse 6 of the book of matthew matthew chapter 26 starting from oh let's go to verse 6 read the whole story and when jesus was in bethany in the house of simon the leper same city that lazarus was raised from the dead they came unto him a woman having him an alabaster box of very precious ointment and poured it on his head as he sat at meat and when his disciples saw it they had indignation saying to what purpose is this waste i could preach a message on that for this ointment might have been sold for much and given to the poor and that is the scripture that proves that jesus was not poor and jesus understood it when he heard them saying that and he said to them why trouble you the woman she has wrought a good work upon me for you have the poor always with you but me not always and for the fact that she has poured ointment on me she poured this ointment on my body she did it for my burial and i say to you wherever this gospel is preached which includes today in the entire world the story of this woman will be sold as a memorial of her wow father we thank you for your blessing seeing precious things verse 10 when jesus understood it he said to them why trouble you the woman turn to your neighbors say don't give me trouble yanking me travel because she has wrought a good work on me sometimes carol there are things that we do on purpose we we purpose to do a thing uh we say we are going to do something for god and we do it we're going to give something to god and we do it and we do it with a purpose in mind and many many times we don't expect to get anything in return and you should it's called the law of expectation we don't give because we expect from god we give because we are expected to give but there are times in our lives when [Music] we do something out of a prompting of the holy spirit and in so doing there is nothing we are actually expecting in return from god it's just that at that moment i felt i ought to have done that one of my favorite people in the whole world is a young lady whose name is bianca and i'll never forget she's the first person in my ministry life that i know of that came to us and said the holy spirit or the lord spoke to her to sow her entire month salary and at that time she had arrived from blair into the city of harrari was having challenges uh with accommodations and had to support a lot of the siblings younger family relatives extended family and she needed every single penny she could have used a year's salary to do what she was expected to do in one month and i remember coming out of my office and trying to persuade her not to give her entire salary but to give one third and then the next month another third and the third month another third to kind of like spread it out so that she could survive and she said no bishop the lord said i must give my entire salary and i felt a little bit too ish because he was a young lady who was adamant that she had to do what she had to do i was trying to apply some logic and rationale to her action and literally within hours before the next day she was offered a job to start immediately with benefits that far exceeded her expectation she was giving her salary not to get anything from the lord she was giving a salary because it's what she felt the lord had told her to do and so when you look at people who do special things for whatever reason there's always a gallery of individuals who have something to say about what you're wearing what you not wearing about your loud amen the clapping of your hands the color of your mask the car you didn't drive in uh there's always somebody that is an unsolicited critic and the critics here are very surprising these are men that have walked with jesus for now three and a half years and if there's anybody that could have taught or demonstrated the act or even the spirit of generosity it would be jesus he was so generous uh he said to peter i've used your boat launch out into the deep because i really want to bless you and because peter was generally a shallow person was only willing to go in shallow water and even in that shallow water the generosity of jesus was exemplified because he overwhelmed peter's little organization so much so there to get another institutional organization to help peter gather jesus generosity and my mind goes to what peter might have received if he had gone into deeper water because you can only get how deep you're willing to go turn to your neighbor and say that's deep in the words of yemi can i go a little deeper and so uh if you are the woman or the individual that has been prompted by the holy spirit to give something publicly or privately uh you have to recognize and know that they'll always be people that will trouble you they will trouble you uh or somebody who assigns your money to something they are very quick to give away your money and they won't give their own or tell you who to bless and when to bless and how to bless we we are going through something right now in a similar fashion and so uh the first thing is is uh you the prompting of of the holy spirit to give something and then the the the backlash from individuals uh there was no one in the room that was actually encouraging her to give the background of this story there are several occasions when women poured ointment on jesus uh one was where a woman wept on his feet dried his feet with her hair and poured ointment this story here is around a young girl who was a pure girl she was a virgin girl she was not a prostitute as the other scriptures describe a certain woman this was her oil that she'd break on her wedding night on her bed as a gift to her husband and so she was giving away her her future as a bride and and was willing to publicly demonstrate that in a man's world and was willing to to take the the rebuttal from individuals in the room but but there was nobody in the room to encourage her to support her to lift her up and and to say you're doing the right thing and of all the people that should have it should have been the disciples who had witnessed firsthand as i said the generosity of jesus and uh they began to squabble and say we could have sold this and given you know to the poor but but peter didn't sell his business after the the resurrection of jesus he went back to his fishing business why didn't he sell his business and give his money to the poor but was quick to to criticize a defenseless woman in a a man's political economic social forum and and so the bible describes what she had given was a box of very precious ointment it wasn't just precious it was very precious so the word precious uh is around something that is sentimental for somebody that bottle of oil you have for anointing may not mean a thing to you in my office on the floor by my desk i have a bottle of oil that i've had for years and in that i have a little bit of wine and a little bit of salt in there because i use that scripture where jesus poured wine and oil into the wound of the man that was injured on the on the jericho road and so that oil when our prey for people's anointing oil i asked them can i put a drop of this precious oil precious oil it's not just ordinary oil it's it's precious oil because i've traveled with that in many places i've preached on many platforms with that oil it's been on more aeroplane flights than flights you have seen in the air uh it's been around miracles and and around events that that are mind-boggling and so that all is not ordinary to you in the office it might seem ordinary but it's precious i have notebooks and things that i've been reviewing that are precious in following the death of prince philip who was 99 years and 10 months old passed away yesterday but won and following the commentary and the documentary on his life's achievements willing to serve as the consort to queen elizabeth at a very young age putting his ambition and his goals aside even as a prince within his own right they showed that he had developed 75 different organizations that are still standing today mostly around empowering young people but one of the things that i caught in the documentary was that uh on his pinky on his left hand he wore his father's ring from the day he got married that's the only thing he kept an ordinary gold ring had it on his finger for 73 years precious precious when my mom passed away her rings are wedding rings that she had from 1956 were given and assigned to a member of the family precious my dad left his bible and he left it for me an ordinary bible if you saw it but precious i have in my collection of many places where i've dedicated churches and i've dedicated literally in my years of ministry over 100 churches many of them 10 and 20 000 seaters in many of those churches i was privileged to be the first person to speak in that new building and all i've done is taken from that place that ground a stone that i have in our safe in the strong room and if you don't know you'll think that there's stones or these people don't clean well but those stones each of them marked are precious because they were men that built churches by faith and not by sight and those are precious stones it was jacob that recognized a place that was precious so let's look at precious things in the bible there are precious moments that you have the last few hours that i had with my mom a few days before she died were more precious than days and days i'd spent to their before they are precious uh trinkets precious clothing but but in the scripture the bible talks about the preciousness of christ the bible talks about precious faith the bible talks about precious thoughts and i'm just reading these off so that i don't go on a tangent they are divine precious promises that peter talks about peter talks about the precious blood of jesus i'll get to that scripture in a minute there is precious anointing because not all anointing is the same there are precious children there is precious prayer they are prayers that we must pray but they are prayers that are precious prayers there is infirmity that is called precious infirmity and finally there is the precious saint it is important system brothers for all of us to understand that precious things are precious to the beholder ii peter 1 verse 1 simon peter a servant and an apostle of jesus christ to them who have obtained like precious faith the book of first peter ii peter was written in the year 81 a.d when persecution had been so heightened and many many christians were actually being killed in public forums and so he says to them he says we have obtained like precious faith and you with us through righteousness the righteousness of god and our savior jesus christ and so he talks about precious faith everyone say precious faith in chapter number one and verse four whereby are given to us exceeding great and precious promises and so he says yes you might be killed and you might be terminated in in coliseums throughout the roman empire but that doesn't negate or take away the fact that we have precious promises amen say i have precious promises we may not receive material things but we have precious promises that god has given us and he says that by these you might be partakers of the divine nature having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust first peter chapter 1 verse 18 for as much as you know that you were not redeemed with corruptable things as silver and gold from your vain conversation received by the tradition from your fathers but with the precious blood of christ as a lamb without blemish and without spot and so every human being has blood but the blood of jesus was called precious blood and so there are many things that god has given us that that vary in value but our redemption comes through the precious blood of jesus christ and so we celebrate precious faith we thank god for precious promises but we have been redeemed by precious blood and so the kingdom of heaven then in matthew 13 verse 45 is is like a merchant man seeking goodly pearls who when he found a special pearl a precious pearl of great price he sold everything he had to obtain one precious pearl of great price and there are times in your life when you are going to have to sell everything you have not just material things but your reputation your name your future your ambition you have to sell all of that to obtain a precious thing i've told this story time and time again and i'll tell it again in one particular occasion god had began to bless us in our cross-border trading and i got a massive check my brother-in-law and i were partners got a massive check and the money was enough to buy two houses and so i remember walking around the church 258 sumo michelle with that check it was a friday and i was walking through thanking god for this massive breakthrough because the next one we were getting was going to be four times as much and early that morning after i dropped cheech off i was going to deposit the check that afternoon i was walking around and the holy spirit said to me money or ministry i was like money what do you mean money or ministry it's like money our kids were going to a government school nothing wrong with that except that our friends kids were going to the school at that time was eaglesville and whenever we'd have our gatherings it will always be thrown in our face that we were lower on the food chain and they were higher in terms of spending and that their kids were going to these schools of renown and i must admit that chichi and i felt a little bad and so when the lord was asking me money or monastery it's about the money we didn't even have a decent vehicle and so two hours later i'm still praying the same question money or ministry and by the time he came to the afternoon the third time money or monastery i was like you know god you really don't get it it's about the money and so i got a call from our pa one of the man men that was giving us the orders to buy stuff in south africa all we had to do was pick up the stuff pay for it clear it and bring it in and then we get the rate of the day and this was massive this was going to take us way over i mean it was like way way into the future and so uh i was going to get the audience said look you know you're only going to leave monday just on your way out to job just pick up the order and by that wednesday we'd be back and the there's like half a million dollars when money was real money and so monday of morning i called no answer eight o'clock no answer 10 o'clock no answer 12 o'clock no answer so at lunchtime i called again because we wanted to leave by 2 so we could hit the border by 10 because the border was closing at 10 those years and at about one o'clock the guy said to me haven't you heard george died he died of a heart attack last night and somehow i felt responsible for that man's death because they kept on insisting on money as opposed to ministry and so then my years of ministry really began and so i learned as the years go by is that if you'll obey god you can have ministry and money but god wants you to have him first not that there's anything wrong with money because for some of you carter asks you do you want money or do you want money the answer is i want money and and once the the question is answered in your life what god wants you to discover in your life is the thing that is precious what are you willing to let go for me and and this young lady it wasn't the spur of the moment decision like oh jesus in town i think i'll just go get a bottle of of uh chanel and just go spray the guy he's been walking all day he probably does need a bit of a deodorant it's not like a spur-of-the-moment decision this is something that has been planned from when she's a little girl one day you're gonna get married this is the gift for your wedding night and it's a major decision for you to decide what's precious and she found in a field a pearl of great price and sold everything she had for a pearl of great price the bible says in matthew chapter number 13 and verse 46 when that person found the pearl of great price sold all he had to obtain it so what are you willing to give what is so precious to you that you are willing to give for that next level for that great achievement great achievements come when people are putting stuff of great price on the line matthew 26 and verse 6 in the story we read the bible talks about a precious alabaster box and the disciples said to what purpose is that waste so what purpose is that waste and so for the kinds of time that you might be spending in prayer or in fasting somebody could say you know you could have spent that time on something else and uh you could have done something a little bit better or you could have improved your life in this regard but but if you have a child that suddenly leads brain surgery and dr gresham is the one who's going to perform that surgery aren't you grateful that he spent all those years not watching liverpool man united games but spend time studying reading and and getting a discipline to save your child anybody can weigh an emerald shirt give me a break you need a life but but thank god for somebody who put the time in aren't you glad that you've got a leader talking about myself now that spent years and hours in prayer and walking with god to give you things that ordinarily you would not get and so we're spending three and four hours every morning here not banking on prayers we prayed before but putting praying for what's coming in the future and for others it may seem like a waste but it's not a waste it's not a waste in the middle of great physical challenge there's things that you have to put in and and and it becomes even more precious in our conversation is that our years are getting shorter and shorter not longer and longer when i was 25 i could look and say one day i'll be 65 but i'm there now and so every day is more precious for me every hour is more precious every minute is more precious and you have to understand that precious is something that is very rare and when you have people just criticize and say for what purpose is the is that waste you have to determine within yourself i i don't want any accolades but in myself i'm going to say i'm doing this because i feel there's a need to and jesus then is the only one that stands up for her say jesus will stand up for me oh yeah yeah usually a mother will will stand up for their child their daughter or their son or usually an older brother for a younger brother uh maybe a teacher for a child that might have gone through their hands from grade one and grade two and might be struggling in grade seven but a teacher can speak a good word on your behalf or or maybe a coach that uh saw you when you were in grade five now you're trying to break into a bigger sporting arena and a coach will say this is a good kid i remember what was said of the gen assistant general superintendent of the united pentecostal church his name was the late great james kilgore and he told the story at a conference we were attending in jerusalem in 1980 and there's a few things i remember about that confident but this one thing i'll never forget he wasn't the greatest of orators he wasn't known as a great camp meeting preacher a man who would throw it and bring it down and a man who could slam it and but he became the assistant superintendent of the united pentecostal church a very powerful position had probably the largest united pentecostal church in the world at that time besides that of of sammy stewart in jamaica and and uh when we attended his church in uh in november 1980 teacher and i just kids the missionary son was getting married and i was one of his best men and they were teasing and said let's make it a w and chichi get married and so on and i remember when we were doing the rehearsal and so on they were doing it for a third time and but the kilgour was just a little shorter than i am a little man uh i was just in hammer that i was actually standing there next to this powerful man and uh he turned around you know to go and he bumped me and he was so apar he said i'm so sorry oh please forgive me and so on i was like you brother kilgore i'm just a kid i'm barely 21 you know and then at the wedding itself he came to the side and said i'm so sorry for bumping into you please forgive me and i was like this is so rare and so unique no wonder god has given this man this magnificent and massive church and and the the qualities that exuded in him are things that i thought this is what i have to have as a man as a preacher we look at the big church but i didn't see people didn't see the humility he walked in just an african boy somebody who had traveled to the states for the first time i had no idea that there was so much racial conflict in america because we were only around white people most of the time in the united pentecostal church and looking back looking at that moment it was a precious moment where the second most powerful man in the most powerful uh oneness pentecostal organization bumped me and apologized and felt bad and continued to uh for for days and weeks even five years later at the conference in manila when we were there he saw me said uh brother tudor please i still feel so bad about bumping into you i would like to put a a a concrete block around my head and throw myself in the ocean where this great man who had achieved so much is still feeling so bad and that is such precious faith that's a precious attitude that's a precious anointing it's a precious gift and and the thing is that here is an individual who didn't have to defend that but he stood up for an african boy whom he may have felt was out of place in in a caucasian environment because looking back at that wedding uh chiche and i were the only people of color at that wedding but it never meant anything to us at that time because we were in a liberated zimbabwean yada yada but it was a precious moment that i can still think of right now since then brothers jesus will stand up for you and he'll tell those around you why are you troubling this woman why in the world are you giving her grief why are you giving her a flack and so for you i declare in your life that god is gonna add precious things in your life you are going to discover what's really really real i was talking to a friend of mine last week who has become a precious friend and he was giving me godly counsel we don't talk every week but when we do we we share precious words and precious moments together and we've agreed that at certain things we will be there at the same time for each other and every conversation we have once a month is a precious moment i look forward to it the jabula platform guys want me to be on their weekly call every tuesday and i've chosen not to not because i want to be you know uh stuck up or anything like that i don't want my voice to be common i want that when i get onto their call once every month or two months that what i have to say is not forgotten that what i say is a precious word because if you are speaking every day and if you have an opinion about everything all the time at some point people are gonna be wary of you they're just gonna be it's this person again and so a person that doesn't manage their mouth and feels like they have to have much verbosity cannot be trusted there has to be a person that has a a an action where the action speaks louder than the words you have said notice when she walked in the room she never said a word she never said you are the precious jesus you raised my brother lazarus from the dead you are such an example to us young people the way you handled yourself there's no rumors she didn't say a single word she just walked in there in a humble way and broke that box and changed the atmosphere and poured oil the atmosphere was already toxic with ambition toxic with individuals who were pushing for political uh spots james and john trying to be on the top peter rattling the keys of the kingdom of heaven simon the leper stinking of leprosy and and political power and clout judah's mind was trying to get money out of jesus and working a plan to kill him and and have him betrayed but here's someone so innocent so precious with a little box broke it on jesus feet and changed the entire atmosphere get was already in the room the last event jesus attended was an event of a leper leprosy a type of sin and simon was the worst of lepers and so jesus is sitting in a room smelling death knowing that in a few days i'm going to be dying for the sins of man and and i'm going to be unclean the leprosy on simon is the leprosy that adam brought in the world but here is a young girl a young girl the same age as eve who innocently ate something and broke a box of dirt and stinch and sickness and the smell of death but here's a young girl who's not going to take something but bring something and break it open and bring perfume that there won't be the smell of sickness and death and disappointment and hurt but there's going to be a new perfume in the air though your sons be a scarlet i'm going to make them whiter than snow though they be the death of the smell of get in the room i'm going to bring a fresh fragrance and it's precious ointment you sold your reputation but baby girl i guarantee you every single place my name is mentioned what you have done will be mentioned again what you do in secrets i'm going to bring out in public spaces all precious things are going to be manifest in your life i need somebody to clap their hands and give god a praise it's the small things that counts big in heaven it's the widow's might that shakes heaven it's the little room that you build for the prophet that becomes precious oh yes it's that little drink of water that you give to the servant rebecca that makes you the wife sarah it's that little meal you cook for god that brings the breakthrough are you listening to me joseph it's that going that little extra mile that's going to bring you to be the leader in egypt and be the leader it's going to be moses it's your little mother that's going to make that little precious basket for that precious life that's carrying the ten commandments and carrying the law and carrying the prophets can you hear what i'm saying to you it's that little person that's gonna say i'm not leaving you i'm going with you all the way you get the double portion it's that little thing that becomes so precious that saves the life in the future so whisper your pray in the morning live your life in in honor i i close with peter's saying here uh it was with uh jacobs saying here deuteronomy 33 and verse 13. deuteronomy 33 verse 13. this is now moses pronouncing blessing on the tribes of israel jacob had pronounced blessing on the tribes of israel before his death in the book of genesis chapter number 50 but now we have the blessing of moses and of joseph he said blessed of the lord be his land for the precious things of heaven the precious things of heaven for the dew and for the deep that couches beneath and for the precious fruits brought forth by the sun and for the precious things brought forth from the moon and for the chief things of ancient mountains and for the precious things of the everlasting of the lasting hills and for the precious things of the earth and the fullness thereof and for the goodwill of him that dwelt in the bush let the blessing come upon the head of joseph and upon the top of the head of him that was separated from his brethren if you'll study the entire blessing that moses gives all the tribes there's not a single tribe where the word precious is mentioned joseph you are the love of jacob's life rachel was his precious choice he worked 14 years was double crossed because rachel was precious and and when you were born you changed jacob's life joseph from being a laborer in laban's house for 20 years and when you were a baby and joe jacob held you joseph and you were named that that precious life out of a precious love changed your life and and on you what should have been on jacob came on you and you became precious and your brothers hated you because you were precious and your dad gave you a special garment because you were precious and your brothers tried to kill you because you were precious and they sold you into egypt hoping that you died there because you were precious but because you were so precious fire couldn't burn you yes hard labor couldn't tire you yes prison couldn't taint you because you were so precious but in time what is so precious hidden in darkness is gonna come to light and you're so pure in your heart and so pure in your life that god is gonna raise you up and four things are going to be given you because you are so precious number one the precious things of heaven are coming on your life shout the precious things of heaven are coming on my life amen the precious fruit from the sun are coming on my life say daylight blessings are coming shout daylight blessings are coming precious things put forth by the moon say midnight things are coming oh yes midnight things are coming and then he says the precious things of the earth and the fullness are coming so heaven sun moon and earth everywhere you turn precious things are being added to you you've broken your worship in this service you're about to give your offering and you're going to break a future open for your children and your great-grandchildren you're going to share a testimony with somebody you are paying somebody school freeze you are making massive sacrifices but all the blessing of heaven precious blessings from heaven are shining on you and precious things from the full of the sun are being rewarded to you and when it's night time the precious fruit of the moon is going to be added to you not demons and devils and curses and blood covenants and most of all the earth is going to heal the increase psalm 67 and verse 5. the earth will heal its increase god even our god will bless us i pray for you that precious things will come on your life things that money can't buy things that people can't give but precious things will be added to your life ecomolenkos [Music] is [Music] [Music] foreign [Music]
