RTS Tactical Ceramic Body Armor Level IV Carrier Kit

encounter and first use of ceramic plates new from a company I've tried some plates maybe from a pawn shop or a few things in the past but I always find myself not really trusting some of those ones you can pick up at a gun show or a pawn shop because you don't know their history you don't know how they were treated and you don't know if they were certified so finding a reputable company especially for your ceramic plates is key if you're going to trust something like that now RTS tactical the sellers of this play carrier actually reached out to me because they watch my channel and carrier specs and talk about its performance and feel down at the range as well as the optional side wrap with the two ceramic side plates so the plate carrier itself comes again with to NIJ certified level four ten by twelve Safi curved plates now these plates are cut very similar to like a shooters cut or something like that with some tapered edges and a very nice round to them so they allow you to really mount the rifle to your shoulder in the correct placement whether you're shooting standard or offhand to insert the plates you can see not only does it velcro with hook and loop at the bottom it actually snaps together and it's got some drainage holes in the bottom of carrier in case this gets wet again this is not a cheap carrier that's gonna fall apart on you I've been using this now for about three to four weeks and I've been taken out to the range I've actually been driving with it in my car to see how it performs in case you were to wear this and then drive a vehicle for some type of duty use so to hold the plate in the place you don't just rely on this bottom strap you actually can hold the plate in the place with this secondary velcro strap it's got a Velcro pull tab located at the bottom which actually loops back around and attaches to the velcro once you break that velcro off it's rather easy to do with your hands but it's not gonna accidentally happen again this has remained in place the entire three or four weeks I've been shooting with this carrier you can simply slide out the plate now I like this feature on this carrier because it actually holds the plate to the top of the carrier you want your plate to sit in the correct placement because your vital organs are a lot higher than you think they are and having that plate ride at the bottom like some of those cheaper carriers is going to cause problems it's you if you actually have to use your plate taking a look at the plate it's definitely thicker than steel plates but it's definitely lighter than steel plates and that's where ceramic has an advantage ceramic also has an advantage over steel because there's no stalling that you have to worry about when you shoot a steel plate the round impacts the round breaks up and that spalling can actually kill you as quickly as the bullet can kill you if you weren't wearing a plate so a lot of steel plates have been the anti spalling coating which can add cost and that anti spalling coating degrades over time now the steel will last multiple multiple multiple rounds where the ceramic will start to degrade but in my testing of past plates and what I've reviewed online it seems like these ceramic plates can absolutely take multiple hits according to those NIJ standards and you will be okay even against green tip with this level for ceramic plate that they include in their package again I like the cuts at the top and we'll talk a little bit more about the shoot ability of this plate and carrier setup in a second and you can see again that curve that allows it to contour to your body and make it comfortable while you're wearing these plates plate on the front is exactly the same as the plate in the back so we're not going to take it out today and to secure the plate in the front it's the same strap method which is easily removable if you decide to swap out plates or swap out carriers while we have the carrier in this orientation I want to talk about this 3d mesh that they have located internally on the front and back of the plate carrier what this allows for is a space and padding in between your body for air to flow now I've been shooting this primarily in the fall and winter so air flow is not quite as important as it would be in the summer but I can already tell you when you strap a plate carrier to your body especially when it's like 70 plus degrees you are gonna start the heat up because that's the core of your body and that sweat can build up over time and it can get incredibly annoying wearing this for long periods of time especially if you're using this for duty use so having this padding and this airflow channels is a must and I can tell you this carrier is incredibly comfortable one of the most comfortable carriers I've ever felt and I've actually been running it with the side panels which adds even more weight but the way this carrier is set up allows it to ride perfectly close to your body with the correct amount of padding as well as air flow channels to keep you cool now I've got the carrier sideways so you can see the front a little bit better right now I've got this condor multi pack right here that allows you to hold your ar-15 and pistol magazines I threw this on the front because it was multicam and it matched the carrier talking about the multicam color I believe it's a slight up charge of about twenty or thirty dollars or you can go with the standard black and tan for that price I talked about earlier 250 with my coupon code now this is pretty slick because it allows you to attach whatever you want to the front wherever you want to the front and I'll be setting this up a little bit more in the future but I'm not gonna really overdo it having the ability to have a couple of ar-15 mags and a couple of maybe Glock mags in the front maybe with a tourniquet pouch and a knife or something like that is about all I want to put on my plate carrier I may set it up a little bit more in the future using that side panel but I'm not quite sure you I really don't want to overload this carrier it really depends if you're using this for duty use or for civilian use what you want to put on this carrier some people may leave it plain and just use this for a personal defence item that they want to throw in their bag and they don't necessarily want to keep a bunch of mags in gear all over this the really thing that I want to talk about though are these straps at the top are very wide and they're also padded they slide under the carrier nicely and then these adjustment straps slide over the top so that allows you to get the perfect fit on your body again making this incredibly comfortable also those straps are rather wide and padded they don't get in the way but what it allows for is to distribute the weight evenly over your shoulders again making this a comfort fit you can see right here you've got a spot for your rifle butt stock or AR pistol to kind of rest that brace in here and that allows you to get a good shooting stance off hand or shooting on the correct shoulder so something like this is great especially if you're using it to shoot a ton of rifles with that shooters cut is going to aid in the way you can actually mount and shoot your rifle to attach the carrier to your body without having this cummerbund with the side plates you're simply going to use these buckle straps with the quick adjust pull tab and it's got this captured sling that you can wrap up that cord and put it in there and it's a very simple mode to attach it to your body if you decide to go with the cumberbund and the side plates you'll see that this actually unbell CROs and folds up and you can pin it down permanently if you're not going to use the cummerbund or you can unsnap it lift it up and actually wrap the Kumbha run around as you've seen in the intro of this video then fold this down and everything feels really secure just using the cummerbund itself now in that cummerbund on the side it actually has all of your male attachments that you'd want to hook all of your gear and kit to or leave it playing depending on what you want to do I definitely recommend if you're going to be drawing from a holster on your right side and definitely not using a drop leg keep that side clean wherever your gonna draw your pistol from because a lot of gear and crap is going to get in when you're drawing your pistol we've already talked about the specs and features of the side plates but you can see they slide into this pocket on the cumberbund and you can pull them out and slide them back in with this velcro do the exact same specs and features of the front pates these have a curve again to hug and fit comfortably against your body there are a little bit thicker again than steel plates but they're lighter and they're actually very comfortable while wearing we're using this plate carrier again I only shot it with the cumberbund inside plates and normally in my past carriers I've actually removed the side plates because they've been cumbersome annoying and they've just been problematic but I think that's because I've never felt light plates on the side and I've never had a carrier that's been this comfortable so I wanted to shoot only with these side plates and front plates in and back plates and man this entire set works great together now why would you want these side plates the side plate upgrade with the cumberbund is a hundred and fifty dollars which is a pretty decent amount of money when you given the fact that this whole carrier is only two hundred and fifty dollars with my code if you're in law enforcement or military and you're picking this up for duty use I could see these plates being a very important aspect of your carrier imagine yourself walking into a room and again take what I say with a grain of salt because I'm not military in law enforcement but the minute you round the corner to clear room your side is exposed down the hallway if you continue to walk straight and you walk past an open door without clearing it properly your side is exposed there are a ton of scenarios where you're entering a house maybe to serve a warrant or to do some type of official work your side is going to be exposed much more than your civilian shooter who is just protecting their home or shooting at the range so the side plates are definitely important for a civilian shooter but I believe they're even more important for duty use and these side plates incorporate nicely with the cumberbund and capture the body perfectly and allow you to shoot easily and move easily so in summary guys this is a premium quality plate carrier with a great set of ceramic plates with the option to add the cummerbund and side plates I believe this is a great option especially with that code 704 tactical 50 for $50 off you can get a very premium quality carrier and plate setup for about $250 or for about $400 with the side plates and cummerbund having something like this gives you a peace of mind no matter if you're law enforcement or civilian this allows you to take your personal defense up a notch and it allows you to feel more confident when you're defending your home or property a lot of times when I'm on the land and I'm checking something out we've got 144 acres that I have to cover and every one so I'll get a call of a car pulling in some way or something like that it does not hurt to put on a play carrier when you're driving down to go check something out on your land if you guys are ranchers or you've a lot of area to cover and you see a suspicious vehicle on your property now you just want to go check it out but you want to be a little bit more protected having a plate carrier is nice also I know a lot of officers get issued soft body armor but not necessarily hard body armor and maybe you want to invest in a set of your own for your job and having
