what's up guys i'm jazz i stream on twitch where i play a lot of rimworld in this video i'll be going over the five mods i consider absolutely necessary for vanilla gameplay and rimworld meaning that they do not change the overall feel or look of the game at all they just make your gameplay experience better so if you want to check them out you can find a list of the mods below in the video description and if you find this video useful please like and subscribe i hope you enjoy okay so i have to start with pick up and haul because i feel like this mom makes the most difference immediately in terms of game play so here we have a colony that needs to relocate all of their inventory to a new stockpile in vanilla gameplay the pawn will pick up one item at a time like you can see here my pond is picking up just one stack of eggs which i get if it's like a giant piece of steel but if it's like a single pistol come on i know you can carry more than that so that is basically where this mod pick up and haul comes in instead of hauling just one item type the pawn will pick up other nearby haulable items until their carry capacity is maxed and then haul them all at once so here they are side by side and you can see that my modded colony is done hauling way before my unmodded one i actually think was about four in-game hours faster so ranked second most important for me is allow tool the main thing this adds is the ability to unforbid all items on the map which is really useful for example right in the beginning as you can see here you've crash-landed and you have a bunch of stuff you crash-landed with but it's all forbidden in vanilla gameplay you need to manually find and unforbid all the items before your pawn will acknowledge them it isn't too much trouble right around your base or right at your crash site but with items scattered further out it's kind of a pain to go look for them the worst is when your pawn gets down in a raid and drops their gun because it's auto forbidden so unless you remember where they fell so you can unforbid it it may be lost forever and deteriorate outside enter the allow tool this mod simply adds a command to the orders menu to allow all which unforbids all items on the map so no more scouring the map for a single forbidden meal or dropped bolt action rifle it's super super convenient the other thing that the allow tool adds that i love is this hall urgently command it allows you to prioritize hauling certain items over others it actually even adds a column for hall urgently stylizes hall plus to the work tab so you can specify how you want your pawns to prioritize hauling these items it's so useful if you have a bunch of stuff to haul but some of it is more precious than others or about to deteriorate next up we have cleaning area so in the vanilla game your ponds will clean anything in your home area even outdoors which can take a ton of time depending on how big your colony is and one solution is to change your home area however ponds will also only fight fires in your home area so you kind of need to have that bigger so it's best to set your own area for cleaning so you can see here i'm creating an area i'm typing keep clean as my title just to make it memorable and now i'm deciding what areas i want to keep clean and i select my interiors because obviously the ponds are going to be pissed off if the inside of their base is dirty and i'm just going to ignore everything outside because i really don't care if anyone cleans that up once i have my area set up i'm going to click on this little broom icon in the bottom right corner and then select that keep clean area that i just set up and voila your pawns will now only clean within that area okay so now we have stack double xl here's a colony without any stacking mods different resources have different maximum amount of items per stack for example for prepared meals it's 10 raw food items like rice it's 75 medicine is 25 and so forth stack double xl allows you to adjust the stock limit on different types of resources so here is this same colony with stack double xl on and you can see it looks a lot tidier and the storage areas look a lot more compact this is less important early game when maybe you don't need to hoard that much stuff but as soon as you start needing a lot of meals and resources on hand or harvesting a lot of crops storage can start taking up a ton of room and it's hard to manage one thing that i love about this mod is that you can adjust the stack sizes by going into options mod settings and then into stock double excel you can adjust the different multipliers xl or double xl and then pick which resources use them so for example if you just set the xl multiplier to maybe only be two or three items that you set as xl will only hold two or three times the vanilla amounts one thing that you should keep in mind is that if you do change these settings from their default you do need to relaunch rimworld in order for the new settings to take effect also the main downside to this mod is that single stacks of items are higher value now so if they're destroyed in a tantrum or a fire it's way more costly not that i'm speaking from experience but it sucks way more to have 700 components destroyed in a split-second tantrum than a stack of 20. all right last but not least are two mods that are so similar i'm listing them as one go the f to sleep and chill the f out these just allow you to tell your pond to go to sleep or to engage in recreation which ponds usually have to decide to do by themselves setting a schedule can obviously help keep your pawns well rested and entertained but anyone who's played room world for more than a few hours probably knows pawns sometimes veer off schedule and if they're approaching a mental break due to a lack of fun or sleep it's useful to be able to step in as you can see with these mods i'm able to just tell my pawn to go to sleep and tell this other pond to go play some chess i often forget i have these mods on since they're relatively new but they've definitely saved me from a few mental breaks in the past so that's it for my list of my top five essential mods for vanilla gameplay if you have any mods that you consider absolutely necessary let me know down in the comments and thank you for watching catch you next time
