I've seen a lot of things in VRchat over the last year, this was not one of them. However, it doesn't really surprise me anymore since it's become a way of life for many. Just two days ago I met a girl that apparently has extreme social anxiety and doesn't socialize in real life at all. She was new to the game, and somehow it allowed her to speak and just be immersed. My friends and I entertained her for a bit with how silly stuff can be, and in the end she was so happy and ecstatic thanking us for talking to her.
For those who donβt have time/the ability to watch the video: This isnβt about baptizing a toon or anime girl, itβs about baptizing people who are disabled and/or home bound. Pretty neat to include them.
This was actually pretty cool. He talks about how their vr church can help people that can't leave their home or get turned away from physical churches. It's interesting to see how old cultural monoliths can adapt to the new world we find ourselves in.
Might looks wacky and weird on the outside, but is really good and wholesome on the closer look.
Wow. Even though I don't align in beliefs with the priest in this video, I really have respect for him for looking at his faith in the correct way.
I remember being a sheltered 18 year old, making friends and talking them into coming to church with me. They had clothes that didn't necessarily look "Sunday best" and I remember seeing the looks on everyone's face in the church. It's what eradicated my faith, if the church is supposed to be "God's House," who the fuck are these entitled pricks lining the pews that cast judgement on anyone who isn't picture perfect 'part of the flock'?
It really shined a light on how most churches today have a welcoming and uplifting atmosphere as a skin-deep layer. The second someone new shows up that would challenge the church body to be 'christ-like,' something as simple as a heavy metal t-shirt can be enough to make a newcomer feel like an outcast.
Think for a minute, how many churches could you walk into and try to request something similar to what's seen in above video? Can you please come into a video game and virtually baptize me while I appear as an anime female with a male's voice? Bet you wouldn't have to ask many people before hearing about blasphemy.
If there is a God I bet the priest in this video warms his heart.
Did nobody make it all the way to the end for the grand finish? SpongeBob stole the show
The churches rejecting people because they are disabled or a recovering drug addict is absolutely insane to me. How could any Christian read the story of the good Samaritan or Jesus and leper and come to conclusion that rejecting the outcast is what Jesus wanted!
The pastor talked about peoples fears of VR and their ignorance on the matter scaring them away and forbidding family from the whole notion of it. Now with videos like this, I believe Syrmor is unknowingly creating a cache of examples to dismantle those notions and fears. Wish I had stuff like this when my parents pulled the same tactics with stuff they were ignorant about!
I thought this was gonna be a sort of "Haha religion" video, but I gotta say, that minister is a cool guy and I really respect what he's doing.
