I swear technology seems to absolutely hate me throughout the last week have any of you heard of one of these things dying everything is just dying in the last week first my carins died and then much more importantly this died what is up everyone I'm mystical and today I'm bringing you the latest in AR and VR news yes some of these are going to be a little bit older but hopefully you guys have chapters that you can skip through to find out just the things that you're actually interested in unfortunately two days ago my system Drive died I don't know how I've never had an nvme Drive die on me so without any further Ado let's jump right into the video and as usual we're going to begin with the quest news as there is quite a bit of good Quest news first of all we've got Quest 3 upper body tracking which was promised to us at the launch of the quest 3 and is now here Quest 3 developers can now integrate three major new features to improve both virtual and mixed reality Inside Out body tracking and generative legs were announced alongside the quest 3 is coming in December ollusion for mixed reality via the dept API was previously an experimental feature meaning developers could test it but couldn't ship it in quest store or applab builds all three of these features are now available as part of the V60 SDK for Unity and native code meanwhile the V60 Unreal Engine integration includes depth API but not inside out body tracking or generative legs inside out body tracking you use the quest 3 side cameras which face downward to track your wrist elbows shoulder and torso using Advanced computer vision algorithms we've seen meta showcase this in the past in previous videos we've talked about it it looks really really cool and actually quite accurate for something that is basically being generated by cameras and AI there is no lighthouses or anything tracking you here this is all done by the headset on your face that's how far we've come when developers integrate Inside Out body tracking you'll see your arms and torso in their actual positions not an estimate Inside Out body tracking only works for your upper body though for lower body meta has launched generative legs it uses a Cutting Edge AI model to estimate your legs positions a technology the company has been researching for years so this won't be your actual legs but hopefully it's going to look more realistic than the legs we used to have in the past we also have the new Dept API for occlusion and mixed reality I've been saying this for the longest time now AR without occlusion doesn't feel right it just it completely ruins the immersion so now with actual occlusion in augmented reality hopefully that will become a lot better as objects that are actually in front of virtual objects will be shown in front of those virtual objects until now in every mixed reality application what we've had is the virtual object would always be in front of whatever your real life body was doing so let's say you had a menu even if you moved your hand in front of the menu the menu would still be in front of your hand it was just annoying to say the least and again ruined immersion steam link has received a fantastic update that apparently improves its quality quite a bit and steam link again is the application now launched by valve on our Quest devices allowing us to stream virtual reality games from our computers to the quest wirelessly without the need for any more applications and without the need for even running Oculus software meaning you're only running one piece of software on your PC a lot of people have said this has greatly improved performance and now they have also added Advanced super sample filtering to reduce aliasing this week's steam VR beta brings Advanced super sampling filtering back to Quest and it supports the steam link app this has been an option in Steam VR since 2017 but valve says it was accidentally disabled from meta headsets a few years ago as a side effect of another change the latest steamvr beta brings this back in an update for steam link and meta's Quest link the setting doesn't affect virtual desktop super sampling refers to rendering at a higher resolution ution then the headset's display panels to produce a sharper and perceptually higher detail image with less aliasing something you as a user can choose to do on pcvr once rendered the higher resolution image needs to be downsampled to be sent to the headset at its native resolution steam vr's Advanced super sample filtering option is a newer method of doing this that produces less aliasing at the cost of a slightly softer image here is the full change log in this week's steamvr beta update enable 10- bit video encoding on AMD graphics cards with this capability enable Advanced super sampling debug UI improvements fixed an issue that made some networking lag worse than it should be by reducing the impact of stream resets in non-optimal Wireless configurations and allow connection to proceed even in network configurations without qos support so these are some pretty nice updates to the steamlink app and hopefully they will improve the quality of gameplay for those of you that are using it this is one that I actually tried using a few days ago but I tried using it wirelessly and it didn't work and of course now it comes out being Wireless Quest uncropped PC casting 2.0 which you can enable inside Oculus developer Hub or meta Quest developer Hub on your computer now supports Wireless Wi-Fi connectivity which means that you can enable ADB over Wi-Fi and use casting 2.0 to capture the full display of your quest completely uncropped it looks fantastic and I have used it over wire but I hate wires so yeah in case you want to capture you know full resolution no cropping no black lines anything just kind of like a fishey lens view of what you're seeing well all you have to do now is AD over Wi-Fi connect it to Oculus developer Hub and you can now cast using casting 2.0 Xbox cloud gaming is now available on the meta Quest most of you probably know about this at this point it was pretty wild on YouTube when they announced it so Xbox cloud gaming is now available on all Quest headsets last year's connect conference saw Microsoft CEO confirmed the Xbox game pass library is coming to the quest through Xbox cloud gaming letting you stream flat screen games from the cloud your quest headset creates a larger screen while playing games through an Xbox controller at this year's meta connect 2023 the company confirmed that it's coming to the quest 3 this December and here it is so you can now play your Xbox cloud gaming games on a massive screen in front of you using your quest this has been actually possible for quite some time just using the Xbox cloud gaming APK which people have Sid loaded to their Quest and have basically been doing this for the longest time but in case you can't sideload Maybe you can't devel enable developer options this is now available to you officially and the supported controllers include Xbox controllers PlayStation 4 controllers and Nintendo switch Pro controllers while support for the PlayStation 5 controllers is planned in the future Elite battery straps are back so in case you don't know meta actually stopped selling these for a while as they all needed a firw update in order to be able to charge the headset correctly well it seems they have now fixed that issue and the elite battery straps are now back on sale meta is resuming ORD of his Elite strap with battery for the quest 3 which for now is only available direct from meta the company has yet to resume orders for the device through thirdparty vendors such as Amazon or Best Buy as it seems the company is catching up to fulfill Replacements made by existing customers who initially encountered faulty units so I guess if you're in store for an official battery headstrap you can now resume your order and hopefully if you did send in for a replacement you're going to get yours soon the Pico 5 has reportedly been cancelled as bip dance shifts Focus to further out Apple Vision Pro competitor the informations Euro osava reports today that the decision was made because the Pico 4 sales fell far short of bite Dan's expectations Pico does plan to release a reversed version of the P4 however osava writes but he doesn't give any detail of what changes this new model will bring bite Dan's main Hardware Focus now is the development of a high-end Apple Vision Pro competitor incorporating Cutting Edge Technologies a product which osava reports is code named Swan the swan project is still largely experimental and conceptual though osava rides and there is no clear timeline for it to become an actual product can I just say that the swan project just sounds like an incredibly cool code name I don't know why but it's just it sounds so cool I guess this does sort of make sense but then again they never sold the pico4 in the US market officially yes you could get it in the US but it wasn't officially sold by Pico I think they would have sold a lot more units if this was officially sold in the US because the price was very competitive the AI on Rayban metag glasses can now answer questions about what you're looking at this was also promised to a steering connect and I thought it was a really cool idea people were like okay yeah that's privacy out the window but in my head somewhere in my head I was like that's like all those cool movies that we saw you know where you can just like talk to your smart glasses and be like hey what am I looking at you know of course yes there is privacy concerns and they do have that indicator light now that I don't think anyone is ever going to notice that anyway but you get the point do let me know your opinions on that one down below as I know that's quite controversial Rayband metag glasses now have an early Access program for multimodal AI letting you ask it questions about what you're looking at the Rayband meta smart glasses launched at connect 2023 as the successor to Rayband stories their most significant new feature is meta AI currently available in the US only it's a conversational assistant you can talk to by saying hey Meta Meta AI is much more advanced than the current Alexa Siri or Google Assistant because it's powered by meta's Lama 2 large language model the same kind of technology that powers chat GPT and we do already have technology like this in our phones Google lens for example but you can't talk to Google Lens actually my sensors are off so it's not going to show you anything but you can't really speak to it and be like hey what am I looking at since you'd kind of have to have your phone plastered on your face this is much cooler because it's in glasses in the new Early Access program met AI will no longer be limited to speech input it can now also answer queries about what you're looking at or the last photo you took okay I'm not sure how I feel about it having access to my photo library live view yeah okay that's something a little bit different but having access to my past photo library I don't know that just seems a little off for some reason in case you want to read the full article Links of course will be down below and finally we're going to end this on a good note as Black Friday 2023 saw the biggest ever Revenue week for VR in the UK market research firm gfk's game Boss Dorian blotch told game industries. Biz VR was in the spotlight over Black Friday 2023 and this was the biggest ever Revenue week for VR in the UK compared to Black Friday week 2022 gfk estimates that headset unit sales increased by 33% and headset Revenue increased by 177% neither meta 3 nor PlayStation VR2 went on sale on Black Friday week Quest 2 however saw its biggest discount ever in early November it was cut down to £ 250 until the end of December and for Black Friday it came with £50 credit effectively valuing it at just £200 by dances pico4 also saw its best ever deal on Black Friday weekend it was priced at £260 and came with green held VR warplanes and Arizona Sunshine 2 together worth £80 this data doesn't break down the headset sales by model or even brand but it does show VR as a whole and this does go with what comments are saying a lot of people in the comments think that 2023 was actually a very successful year for VR and much more successful than previous years let me know your opinions down below is it because the quest relaunch or is it because of the titles that we got but that is going to be it for today's video thank you all so much for joining me today I hope you have a fantastic rest of your day or night wherever you are in the world and as usual if you guys like this one please do leave a like if you disliked it I guess this works too but let me know why down below if you guys are not yet part of our community check out our Discord and already down below where I want to see you posting your memes and thank you so so much to all the patreons and anyone else supporting this channel in any way she perform you guys are amazing seriously much love thank you so so much especially now when everything is breaking seriously and as usual if you guys want to be notified content coming up on the channel make sure smack subt with for hting my bell see next video peace oh
