Powering On and Upgrading My New Off-Grid Home with Solar Power | Tipi (Teepee) Build Part 3

i kind of want to have a nice home base i might be able to get this set up like an apartment i'm really keen to see what we can run with this i think it's supposed to be pretty powerful so hi i'm greg evans and this is ovens rocky mountain bushcraft [Music] there we go [Music] just stop by this little market here um on the side of the highway get some corn this is a really nice fresh bc corn but i'll tell you something interesting about this stand is it's an honor system and i thought you might find it interesting you got your prices you take what you want and you just leave your money and that's it nobody even runs the place so i know some of you city folks are going to find it amazing city folk i think i just like throwing these interesting little things in to my videos because i think it's probably a rare thing so i got six cro uh corn on the cob peaches and cream my favorite it's 450 i got a five and uh with an honor system like this you don't mind leaving a tip right it's not like there's anybody to give me change this is a right on setup very trusting uh here in the rockies anyways crap cute still got spots on it so i know lots of you are interested in plants um i'll just show you a plant that i discovered here um that i don't see very often labrador tea as the name would suggest good for tea has white flowers don't mistake it for bog rosemary do your research but there's another good plant that i don't see too often so it's nice to have the tp like livable i want to thank colorado yurt company once again for the teepee [Music] [Applause] [Music] really happy with the way this turned out [Music] but it will be nice to get the teepee set up with uh the other sponsored items that i'm going to show you and they're going to be useful i might be able to get this set up like an apartment even chocolate or butterscotch uh swirl me i'm going to assure you i am not going to change the way the channel is going as far as the survival tricks techniques the survival challenges homemade fishing hooks so on plants i'm going to keep to the same theme so what i'm gonna have to do is make some snowshoes definitely need my snowshoes i'm gonna have to hike in get to the pond and try to catch some fish [Music] i love winter camping i wonder if i was supposed to put this on first yeah i could set the tarp up but you know what i'm gonna take that chance i'm not always a perfectionist but i know how to survive just cozy i'm gonna try this bacon and see if it's smoked enough edible plants that you can find in the winter plants are so important in a survival situation i'm going to use skunk cabbage leaves like shingles it rained all night but we're going to get out mushroom picking we're finding them i love cooking outdoors done just right that's what i call perfect gotta love moose roast oh man awesome the heat is just radiating off these you see i wasn't kidding you another handy trick to know your vehicle doesn't start in the bush and you got to stay with it so i'm just uh going to meet up with a subscriber we're going to take them out and show him a few survival techniques this is the greg ovens famous cast we're going to catch him this first fish you're getting a bite your first fish this will be strong cordage for uh fishing line that's a bite part two we're gonna deal with homemade hooks see the idea i'm gonna try to make homemade hook from the rows here you know if they're sharp [Music] i got one [Music] there we go wooden hooks man tomorrow morning we're gonna head to the island over here i like these adventures that'll work trim bring your firewood i think he's ah we got him oh that's a dandy but here where the teepee is i mean i kind of want to have a nice home base so that's what we're trying to achieve so i've got this anchor battery pack and solar panel anchor and it would be kind of cool to see what this thing is capable of running i think that it'll be really convenient as far as being set up nicely in the teepee so as a home base i want to be set up nice and from here we go and do our overnight adventures our fishing trips survival challenges and whatever but this will be handy for uh charging the camera gear all kinds of things so let's see what they sent us so this is the battery pack i'm really curious to see like what we can run off it certainly packaged well anchor battery pack come on box already broke the handle off come on not not the pack but the box i think it's supposed to be pretty powerful so i'm really keen to see what we can run with this i don't want to puncture anything with my big knife here they really package it good might need a bigger knife now she's taped good it's kind of funny when you try to undo stuff it's just i'm sure you guys know what i mean like nowadays sometimes you can't even get into your food packets unless you have a chainsaw i like the colors blue is my favorite color there's our anchor uh solar panel you know it's nice to be able to charge everything with a solar panel especially like i'm out here there's no power i'm not big on generators just because they're noisy and you got to get gas and solar packs are the way to go i think and especially for what i'm trying to do is just run you know items lights this that charge my batteries for the videos so far it's the best power pack that i've got it'll be kind of cool in the winter to spend a night in a big winter storm i think that'll be cool so so i'm thinking that uh this anchor uh solar panel and packs gonna be ideal my chainsaw my little electric chainsaw dead it's been dead for a few days but also you know last year i got stranded uh twice out in the bush had to wait for somebody to come and jump start my truck with this i wouldn't have been stranded it's going to be handy for a lot of things i had the light and the tp from it last night for charging my camera gear everything it's going to be handy well it's charging so this is going to be good because out here in the bush all my stuff is uh battery operated so this is going to be just what the doctor ordered so i uh went to a garage sale today picked up some furniture for the tp here nice chair yeah i like that very comfortable on the end table uh bought an old tv borrow to vcr get our furniture in there see if we can watch a movie on that anchor power pack [Music] oh my goodness you know i don't even get it these old tvs this size weigh like 200 pounds can you imagine back in the old days that people actually bought these things it was a two-man job just to move like uh 30 inch screen tv unreal boy they've come a long way with the flat screens you pick up the two fingers they said the tv worked oh i heard it turn the volume off for now see if we can watch a movie here maybe i have to program a channel i don't know it seems to be working come on just play something's happening i'll figure it out okay so what it was is i had the source on um like video player instead of dvd so now it's working hey fan come on i'm watching a movie come on finn just watch a movie see oh you don't like tva it's okay come oh what a good boy oh this looks pretty funny to me i don't know what this thing is i don't know what we're watching here finn the big man japan it's nice to be able to watch a movie too i mean that pack is handy already powered my chainsaw up and i got that good to go and having fun with this [Music] but i mean survival's different so uh this movie is called the great buck howard i've never seen this show actually i kind of wish i had jeremiah johnson but i'll get that
