Man I rolled a reaper at the best time. Just got bored with my chronomancer and decided to give Necro another shot.

Funniest thing that happens with my Norn Reaper is that the Scythe doesn't always appear when I go into Reaper Shroud. So my Norn just starts punching foes in it lol

Years ago I was a huge Power Reaper enjoyer. It was god-tier in open world, amazing in Fractals and super fun in raids. It feels so good to be able to crack this build out again and have it absolutely pump in terms of DPS like it deserves to.

How has everyone else been enjoying Power Reaper over the last week?

A lot of discussion around this is calling Reaper OP and I agree, but at the same time, Power Hammer Spellbreaker has been benching 40k for a while. The tanky utility build.

Everyone's DPS is powercreeped nowadays and we may as well let Reaper finally have its time in the sun.

Been playing in PvP for months and wasn't even aware there was a buff.

Thanks for the rotation guidance! I've been playing Reaper for years in Open World regardless of its "bad" build status and I'm thrilled to be able to bring it back into group content without feeling like I'm dragging the others down.

Also, from an Open World perspective, changing the third utility to Spectral Walk is OP. It's a multi-condi cleanse, a stunbreak, a big boost of swiftness, and a life force button all in one. It's fantastic. (I also play with Chilled to the Bone as an elite in open world, for reasons you touched on but also to avoid frustrating minion AI.)

Sc log: https://dps.report/bLQI-20230512-044325_golem

Even though the shout is the weakest of the 3 utilities, the gap between it and well of darkness is 200dps, while the shout doubles as a stun break, performs better in more hectic scenarios that would otherwise delay entering shroud, and provides a faster burst.

I believe it's a bit more nuanced when deciding which utility to swap out. An instant cast, instant damage and stun break allows you to break rotation and adapt more fluidly to the encounter in exchange for a negligible dps loss. Of course there will be situations where one is better than the other, but after getting a literal +50% dmg increase on the shout it is a competitive dps utility against wells.

Rise of the powercree... I mean reaper

Its still crazy to see Reapers not embrace Shouts. Chilled to the Bone easily surpasses Golem now in DPS and usefulness(look at all the buffs it gives) and both utility Shouts("Nothing Can Save You!". "You Are All Weaklings!") should be used.

Reaper enjoys around the world Rejoice after years of languishing on the outskirts of PPE content getting laughed at by classes with their 40K DPS benchmarks watching in horror at every set of patch notes as your ax just received another five percent damage buff Arena net has finally graced us with a Buffs we've been crying out for for years now raid bosses will battle a class 11 years in the making power Reaper has awoken welcome back everyone as of the last balance patch Reaper got some massive Buffs to its overall damage and has returned from his heart of Thorne's Glory Days not only that the reaper shroud 3 skill infusing Terror has had its damage reduction increase from 20 all the way to 66 this means you can stay in Reaper shroud for longer spin to win or big old numbers and a more survivable than ever all these Buffs get stacked on top of Reaper's already easy to learn rotation it's hard-hitting skills that feel super fun to land and all the Lord of death roleplay you can muster which turns this into one of the most fun DPS builds Guild Wars 2 has to offer it's a good time to be a necro enjoyer friends let's jump in to the premier power damage necro spec when you equip Reaper your deathrout will be replaced by Reaper shroud here your shroud skills get replaced by far more aggressive AOE skills you can also get your cosplay on with the very edge Lord Scythe while in Shroud an important note your Reaper shroud is a big piece of the damage puzzle for you so you'll want to avoid as much damage impossible while in there to protect your life force more life force means more damage your rubber shroud Auto attack will cleave through enemies and Grant you life force in the third strike due to one of your Reaper traits the last hit will also recharge your shroud skills discharge will catapult you forward attack nine times and blind your enemies this skill will be the largest overall contributor to overall damage infusing Terror will grant you stability and a huge 66 damage reduction for 6 seconds you can also reactivate the skill to fear enemies around you always try to activate this when you're in Shroud just for the 66 damage reduction this will protect your life force and let you jump into shroud more often Soul spiral is one of the most fun skills on Reaper you'll spin to win Attack 12 times and a flick poison you'll be wanting to use this every time you enter shroud execution and Scythe will do a huge strike of damage and stun your target you'll also deal more damage the lower your Target's health for this reason we'll want to be using this when our Target is below 25 health for some huge puns of damage for our weapons we'll be taking great sword and staff on Greatsword your auto attack chain will regenerate life force and on the third strike we'll include chill and completely recharge your Greatsword 2 skill Gravedigger Grave Digger is one of the classic Reaper skills you'll deal damage on up to 5 enemies around you and if you hit an enemy below 50 Health it will instantly recharge towards the end of your rotation you're going to be spamming this like crazy in their spiral will strike five times with each one being a world finisher inflict vulnerability and regenerate life force knifel will cast an expanding AOE at your feet blind and enemies and also convert 4 burns on enemies into conditions which is super handy grasping Darkness will attack and chill foes in front of you and regenerate life force on every hit one thing to note though is that this skill will have a very long after cast time after you've applied your damage where your character isn't doing anything you can cancel this and speed up your Rotation by casting a skill immediately after this swapping weapons or stowing your weapon OnStar your auto attack necrotic grasp will peer through enemies and regenerate life force on every strike this skill has very low damage so will only be swapping to staff for our two through five skills Mark of blood will deal some strike damage inflict bleeding on your foes as well as Grant you some regeneration chilled Lanes is one of your most important skills on staff you'll deal a nice chunk of strike damage and a flick chill and poison on your enemies it also leaves a poison field which will be taken advantage of with the world finishes on both Gravedigger and death spiral putrid Mark will deal strike damage act as a blast finisher and transfer three of your conditions back to your target very nice as an emergency condition cleanse Reaper's Mark will deal a massive Spike of damage and inflict fear on any foes that it hits a good chunk of our skill bar is going to be dedicated to Wells which will provide ticking AOE damage over time this damage will be Amplified even further when we hop into Reaper shroud outside of that we have a free utility slot with some extra damage or utility depending on what the fight needs we also get some great value out of minions for the full necro experience bloodfeed will summon a little friend to fight alongside you who will transfer Health to you each time it attacks you can also quickly sacrifice it if you need a quick Spike of healing well of suffering will inflict vulnerability on enemies and deal six huge spikes of damage this is your highest damaging utility skill well of Darkness has some great utility as well as providing awesome damage you'll blind enemies on each strike which is super nice for mitigating damage on you and your party and deal six spikes of damage outside of your wells you are all weaklings is your highest damaging skill it also is a stun break will grant you might inflict weakness and deal more damage if you're in melee range it's also an instant cast so you can use it at any point in your rotation flash goal will usually be your default Elite skill it's a useful meat Shield to draw aggro and provides a huge amount of single Target CC if you need to swap out a skill for different utility always swap out you are all weaklings first is the lowest damage skill of your three utilities and your two Wells are incredibly important for your damage you can replace this with spectral grasp if you need some extra pulls for Mob control or for cc process poison cloud is an amazing projectile barrier which is very useful on fights like Adena and slausazur where projectiles can be a big issue well of corruption will give you higher upfront burst damage which is great if you're in a fight with short phases you can swap out flash go on for Lich form to get some extra burst damage at the start of the fight you'll basically pop into Lich form activate your 4 skill and then pop right out chill to the bone is fantastic in open world it provides lower damage than Lich form less single Target CC than Golem but it has a newly lowered cooldown and can really shut down trash mobs now for our trades as you'd expect with a power DPS build our trade choices are centered around cranking our power damage as much as possible and taking sweet sweet damage modifiers whenever we can spite is here to pump our overall power damage and comes with a whole heap of damage modifiers and increases despite the Talisman will cause us to deal increased damage to enemies without any Boons given most enemies don't apply their own Burns and your squad will generally try and remove them if they do pop up this will basically be active all the time awaken the pain will cause mind to Grant you more power and less condition damage Revenant has a very similar trait in their Devastation line an amazing trait for a power damage build close to death will cause our damage to Skyrocket when enemy gets below 50 Health this is a huge 20 modifier and when paired with quite a few Reaper skills they gain increased Effectiveness when mobs are at lower health will cause your damage to Peak much later on in fights Soul reaping is here to help sustain a life force which allows us to enter Reaper shroud more often we also get some nice damage modifiers and bonuses when we enter Reaper shroud Soul marks will make your marks unblockable and cause them to regenerate additional life force for you if you don't find yourself using stuff feel free to swap this trait to unyielding Blast for additional ability sobabs will grant you a 10 damage modifier whenever you enter an exit shroud the focus of our entire rotation will be on maintaining this buff as much as possible so you'll find yourself jumping in and out of shroud fairly often death perception will grant you an extra 15 crit chance which is very handy for Reaper you also get a massive 15 critical damage increase whenever you're in Shroud because of this we'll want to line up all our big damage ticking AOE skills so that we can dump them then pop into shroud so that some of their pulses benefit from this increased critical damage in Reaper Chile Nova will create a blast around your target when you critically strike a chilled enemy this is going to help you maintain Chill on enemies which will benefit some other traits on reaper soul eater will cause you to deal an additional 10 damage whenever you strike enemies in melee range it will also heal you with four percent of the damage that you deal which makes you very tanky for a DPS build cold shoulder will cause your chill to last much longer you'll also deal an additional 10 damage to Shield enemies so the more chilled we can keep up the better Reaper's Onslaught loads us up with some more shroud benefits here we get an additional 300 ferocity and Grant ourselves quickness while on shroud it will also make the last hit of your shroud Auto attack chain life rate recharge your shroud skills by a second this means that while you're in Shroud you're always going to want to complete your auto attack chains just so you can get this cooldown reduction now onto our gear and food unlike most power builds out there Reaper needs a bit more assistance reaching 100 crit chance to do this we'll be taking berserker's gear and Assassin's amulet and Sigil of accuracy to reach 100 crit chance you can fine tune your crit chance even more if you want to start including infusions in this build I won't be covering them in detail today but I'll include a version of the build with infusions in the description if you really want to be a sweaty little DPS Goblin Ry ruins will be using the Old Reliable Rune of Goa for our last remaining schedule slot use Sigil of force like most power builds our food utility is very straightforward take your favorite Power and ferocity food either sous-vide steaks or sweet and spicy butternut squash or utility take Superior sharpening stone our rotation on Reaper basically centers around entering and exiting shroud to maintain our soul barbs damage buff we also get some huge damage modifiers while wearing shroud so I want to tee up a big damage ticking AOE skills so we can use them just before we enter shroud this way most of their ticks will benefit from these Buffs and crank our damage for our opener we'll first use great sword 5 immediately use grade sword for weapon Swap and use star 5 and then staff 3. we'll then have a look at our shroud glue first we'll use well of Darkness well of suffering you are all weak links at any point Enter Reaper shroud use shroud to shroud for One auto attack chain you shroud to again we'll then use two Auto attack chains [Music] use shroud 2 for a third time and then one Auto attack chain we'll then exit Reaper shroud and begin our staff Loop for our staff Loop we'll use staff too staff or Star 3 Star 5 and then weapon swab using your marks in this order means that the poison field from staff 3 will be active when we use our combo finishes in grade school shortly also when you swap to staff just before entering Reaper shroud just use star 5 and 3 for our Greatsword Loop we'll first use great sword too great sword 3 1 Auto attack chain which recharges Greatsword 2. is create sword 2 again great sword fire and then great sword 4 will then repeat our shroud loot from earlier as a little aside if you enter Reaper shroud from Greatsword just use an extra Auto attack chain after your third shroud 2. this will make your Greatsword cooldowns line up much nicer and make your rotation smoother have some quick rotation tips your rotation on power Reaper will change as your target has lower and lower Health when your target is below 50 Your Grave Digger will instantly recharge so we can replace any auto attack chains on Greatsword with Gravedigger make sure you spam the skill to significantly reduce its After cast so you can use more of them once your target is below 25 you should start using Reaper shroud 5. you'll want to use this just before shroud 4. so when you enter shroud you'll use shroud 2 shroud 5 and then shroud 4. some other tips staff is only here for the mark skills you'll want to avoid Auto attacking on staff as much as possible Auto attacking here is a DPS last like we mentioned before your gray sword 5 has a very long after cast you can either cancel this by stowing your weapon which is annoying using another skill in this case great sword 4 or weapon swapping so that's why we always try and use Greatsword 5 before Greatsword 4. you can quickly enter and exit Reaper shroud before starting a fight so you can start with the soul barbs damage buff active just make sure you time it right so you enter shroud right after your opener although it doesn't help your DPS you should always use shroud 3 when you went to shroud this just gives you a free 66 damage reduction which means you can stay in Shroud even longer basically always use this and that is everything you know to go forth cosplay as the god of death and out damage all your teammates on one of the most fun power damage specs in the game here we have outrageous AOE damage a ton of baked and survivability CC for days plus free utility slots to tailor your build encounter not only does this build slap for instance content it has always been one of the Premier open world builds with personal quickness vulnerability a second health bar and massive AOE cleave not only
