This is a great video for folks starting to gear toons at level 80; but it would need an additional section for (new) players to explain the functions of stats in the game; which would help them pick their level up rewards and play into a niche while leveling.

  • Aggressive: Power, Precision, Ferocity, Condition Damage, Expertise.
  • Supportive: Healing Power, Concentration.
  • Defensive: Vitality, Toughness.

Concentration and Healing Power are supportive because they buffs both offensive and defensive boons (e.g. Might & Protection) and impact your ability to heal others.

Vitality and Toughness do nothing but buff your own survival.

welcome welcome everyone this is Josh or Comic-Con Khan Guild Wars 2 has a huge number of Stack combinations which can be a little bit of a nightmare when it comes time to choosing them today we're going to distill down which of the stat types you actually need to care about as a newer player the stats you select for your gear will have a massive impact on your experience of playing through the game it will determine how quickly you defeat enemies how survivable you are and how impactful dipping abilities feel to use as you play through the game you'll get showered with tons of different pieces of gear each with different stack combinations it can be overwhelming trying to pick between these different choices and that's not uncommon for new players to end up with a mishmash of different stack combinations that don't really serve any purpose and just serve to make their gameplay experience even harder this is particularly a problem when you start trying to get into end game content and you actually need to put a bit more Thor into your build and get your choices in this video I'm going to give you a rundown of what will these different stat attributes do as well as the combinations that are actually important for you to know once you reach endgame first up a quick rundown on what these attributes actually do power increases the direct damage you do on each strike Precision increases the chance for critical hits these multiply the direct damage of each attack curiosity this increases the damage of each of your Critical Hits these three stats all work together in unison and each are required to achieve High DPS on power builds what you'll find if you start swapping out these three stats for others you'll start to see a significant dip in your power damage condition damage increases the damage on each condition tick these generally tick once per second expertise increases the duration of any conditions you imply resulting in getting even more conditioned ticks unlike power DPS condition builds primarily rely on these two stats to do most of their damage unlike power which requires the three stats Power Precision and ferocity this means you'll generally have more flexibility with condition builds to include other stats for more survivability and group support although it should be noted that conditioned builds still benefit from including more Power Precision and ferocity as these are just a nice little damage buff on top but your stats that impact survivability purpose decreases the damage you take from Strike damage not condition damage however it's also the main stat that determines enemy aggro and who ends up being the tank in group instance content Vitality simply increases your overall HP pull the supportive stats concentration increases the duration of any Boons you apply to yourself and allies healing power increases the potency of healing you apply to both yourself and allies different types of gear have different combinations of these stats and in different quantities however there are only a few that are typically used of the many different options now we're going to go through the main stat types that you actually need to worry about first up Berserker how precision and ferocity this is the main stack combination for power DPS classes it's a relatively easy one to obtain sometimes pieces of gear are replaced by assassin's gear for more critical chance this is the same as Berserkers but with slightly more Precision or with more orders for some extra HP vipers is the main stat for condition damage classes this includes both condition damage and expertise to pump up your Condi damage as well as power and precision that will increase a little bit of the power damage you do this generally results in this being the highest DPS choice for condition damage classes some pieces may be replaced with Sinister although this is a bit more of an advanced optimized station when soloing harder content in open world it can be replaced with Trailblazer gear for a moderate drop in damage in exchange for a massive gain in survivability harrier's gear is the primary stat combination for those who want to heal their group provide long-lasting Boons and do a little bit of damage along the way Minstrel is an alternative stat for those who want to heal provide Boons but also want to be as durable as possible this is a very good combination for when you are newer to the healing role and want an easier time staying alive is also used for tanking in instance content like grades and strike missions the viner's gear is used for classes that want to do power DPS but also provide Boon support to the team ritualist gear is very similar to diviner except for condition damage instead of power damage note that both diviner and ritual skier can be tricky for newer players to get access to as it's normally obtained through Living World episodes or expansion content you'll get there soon though so don't worry too much about it Celestial gear is a unique gear type that gives you a little bit of every possible stat it's a very useful stack combination as it can work as an alternative to all of Harrier Minstrel diviner and ritualists in a lot of situations it also provides decent damage along with a lot of survivability it's a very common gear type when used for soloing harder content in open world somewhat recently the instant level 80 boost item was updated so that all players get access to a full set of exotic Celestial armor weapons and trinkets which is a fantastic change compared to the Soldier's gear that you used to get Celestial gear typically suits builds that output a mix of power and condition damage as well as having access to decent Boons and healing think of it like this the more things your build can do the more you would benefit from Celestial gear now these stack combinations should cover you for the vast majority of builds there are a few situations where alternate stats are used a Sinister or rampager gear for condition damage builds assassins on power builds and Magi uncertain healing build these however are edge cases and should be covered in more detail wherever you happen to find these builds I'll include links to the main places where you typically find end game builds for Guild Wars in the description below with that here's a quick cheat sheet to cover you for most of the build types the power builds focus on acquiring Berserker gear condition damage focus on Vipers for offensive support either use diviners or ritualist gear depending on if you are focused on power or condition damage defensive support area and menstrual gear are the way to go depending on whether you want a tank or just want an easier time surviving however if you never want a tank in instance content do not take minstrels gear please run harriers there are a few builds that ideally use Celestial gear however think of these on a case-by-case basis and be careful when taking it into instance content you may accidentally find yourself taking a boss depending on the toughness of your other players with that you're now ready to sift through the many different gear types in Guild Wars 2 and actually pick the one that's going to bring the best out of your build this should set you up nicely for different types of in-game content I hope you found this video useful make sure you stay tuned for some more handy dandy Guild Wars content [Music] [Music]
