hi everyone my name is nick and it's been a couple of days i have moved into my apartment i apologize for not sharing the whole moving my 450 plans process because quite frankly it's not even done i probably still have like 50 plants at the old apartment that i still have to bring over but we're really getting there i will show you guys the place in a second but i still haven't decorated whatsoever i've put a lot of my plants out to try to get them out of my way but i can't say i've plant-styled yet so i think that's really my next step to setting up this apartment is plant-styling the apartment so that's kind of what i want to do throughout this video which is probably going to span over a couple of days time but let me show you what i have going on so far so this is what we have going on right now it's obviously not nearly complete there's just a bunch of plants lined up on the floor for right now because they're just to get out of my way and you can see i left the space here because muffin really likes going and sitting in the windows she's been like my pokemon she just follows me around everywhere in this new space now that's just me and her and i'm considering putting my trellis on this wall here which i think would look really nice my bedroom shelves are here i still obviously have a lot more room to put plants on i haven't really put anything up top and i really don't know if i'm going to but i'm going to put even more of those led grow bars in this shelf here and i think i'll even do them in the bottom because there's just so much room and it's you know so open i might as well utilize the space and then out in the living room kind of see what i have going on there's you know a bunch of stuff on the floor still and it's you know you can barely even step over in this direction because there's just so many plants on the floor this is my rafa de fora i thought i was gonna cut it but it honestly made it here in one piece but i think i'm still gonna end up having to cut it back quite a bit the only thing i would really consider plant styled in this apartment let's say is just these windows i'm kind of happy with the way that they're looking i put some taller ones over in these ones on the side and i try to keep it lower here because i think i want to be able to just like look out this window and just enjoy the view but i think i'm going to kind of play around with like these interiors of the windows and make sure that they have a lot of plants on them and i'm able to hang plants in the windows like i did my old space which is funny because in the apartment they showed me the windows went all the way up i think the wall came down a little bit more but in this apartment i'm able to hang plants in the window which is very nice and i can drill in the ceilings too which i didn't know i could do so i'll probably just do a couple i'm not going to go nearly as wild as i did before i have my desk over there uh the chiclero is going to have to move but it's going to be nice to have a couple of plants there and i'm not really sure if i'm going to want to do my accordion trellis that i had in the background of my old videos in this part here to kind of mimic the one that i'm gonna have in the bedroom or if i want to do it more in this area and maybe utilize the soltec solutions light up there but there's a lot of options it's amazing how many options there are so i'm just so thrilled and i also created a tv stand out of some crates so i just have six crates here that i just like you know placed in this manner and i'm gonna put some led grow bars inside these two right here i'm not sure about the ones on the outside but i'm gonna put a bunch of plants in here as i already have but i'll probably use some ones that stay a little bit lower uh like the primolinas and my hoyas and such that you know aren't going to get too close to the grow bars and burn so i'll probably move like the jade satin and the agliana just for example but i think that's going to work out really well so that's what we have going on so far we have muffins still follow me around but that's just the beginning and it's time to really get started i've been here for a couple of days and it's really starting to feel like home so i'm excited to really get some stuff up on the walls and get this place plant-styled it's been about a week i have been settling into the space it's taken longer than i would have liked it to and i still have stuff on the floor and a lot of art still to put up and i haven't hung a single plant because i still need to get a step sole because i can't reach these ceilings because they're higher than the ones in my old place so i still have some to do but i want to show you guys pretty much the um bulk of the plant styling that i've got done so far and i'm feeling i'm feeling 80 percent on maybe 85 i still have some more things to put up like i haven't even put up my soul tech solutions aspect like yet and that's such a staple in my home so i gotta find where i'm gonna put that but let me show you what i have going on so far so this is the living room as of right now it still has a ways to go i just ordered a rug today and i still need to order a desk chair actually you can see on my computer screen that i was looking at desk chairs today because i haven't ordered one yet but this is how it's looking it's still a little empty specifically this wall and i'm pretty sure i'm going to be putting my soltec solutions light on this wall probably in this area i'm doing like a little plant display here but i have not gotten it up yet so this is what i have right now is my little desk area and so i have that shelf from ikea that i used in the background of my videos but the trellis that's also from ikea and i did chop down the raft completely i actually moved it here like without chopping it at all but once i moved to here i was like no so i just chopped the whole thing back there's a little bit of growth on it still but i feel pretty confident it's gonna grow back pretty quickly and i just am putting a couple other plants on the trellis but you know give it time and i think they're going to do really well and i'm going to be hanging a plant down in this corner right here so i'm going to hang i believe my cebu blue pothos which is right here on the floor and i'm gonna have that hang down and maybe uh trail it along the wall here like i did with my syndaxes which i actually still have here on the floor completely wrapped up and it looks so silly that's how i used to get the trailing plants delivered at the store and i have muffins right here rubbing up against me and trying to get my attention as i'm doing this because she loves attention oh she's so sweet and she's been doing really well with the move actually so that's something i'm very happy about and i'm hanging the plants in the window kind of how i did in the old apartment with like the staggered i like to do five sorry just kick something uh five in the window and i have it also there but i wanted to make sure that i left this window open in the center because it's my view out onto the city and it's gorgeous so and i also have been leaving spots in the windows for muffin as you can see right here i have another one in my bedroom because she doesn't like to lay in the window sills but she does like to look out at the city so i made sure in both rooms i'm leaving her some spots and you can see that i'm just filling up the windowsills i'm trying to avoid doing the floor too much i think i'm gonna do another moss pole plant on this side just kind of blend in with the lamp that i have going on right here um but i do have a little display of like ferny plants going on in front of the natural mahogany so i have this corner right here with more plants and my plaque and a mirror and an erin apsley print and i also have some air plants hanging out with my fern prints which i think these are from world market but i have this whole space right here still open um and i'm not really finished with this whole area i think i want to put grow lights and i actually end up using all the grow lights that i had for this area in my bedroom which i will show you guys shortly but i'm really liking like this kind of style on the end here i need to make this one a little bit more lush of course it's a darker area in the home so i have to use plants that are more apt to darker situations and i would like to like i said fix these with grow lights so that i uh can grow plants entirely throughout them and not have to worry about the light and if i just show you guys my bedroom because i am actually not keeping oh my god my kitchen so dirty but i'm not keeping plants in my kitchen and my bathroom because there's no windows but here's my bedroom right here and i have my whole shelf system right here like i said i completely fixed it out with grow lights so this is just like an area that i'm just growing any plant that i desire because practically anything as long as it fits is going to grow well in here so this really allows me at this point to grow oh i don't even know how many plants are on here over 100 absolutely but it's really nice to have all these plants just contained in one space it makes it a lot easier to water and i'm keeping it much more contained than i did at the old place i had plants on top of the old place but as you can see i have the vent that goes out right on top of it so i figured i'm just not going to bother with that and instead i'm using the bottom shelf in the old apartment i did not use the bottom shelf i have no idea why but i am using it now and i have my white trellis right here i have a whole little display going on in front here i actually just went to um a farmer's market that i always go to in philly and they had these two plants they had this philodendron right here which i'm sure i'll talk about these in my next houseplant haul that i do someday uh but this is they call it a philodendron jungle fever but i think it's some kind of like florida a jungle fever is a different plant so uh but i love the leaves i was a sucker for it even if i already grow florida in my home i just haven't like have swim from right next to it i just like love this leaf shape if you guys follow me you know i'm like obsessed with it and also this one which probably looks like a pretty plain philodendron to you guys from the top but on the underside it's got red so this is filled underneath sub host autumn and i really enjoy plants that have this kind of attribute with the the like leaf coloring underneath the leaves on top which are usually pretty plain and green or sometimes they got some like character like calatheas but um yeah i really like that and i have my philaden red emerald growing up the trellis and it's already near the top and then up on the wall i have my mounted plants which i have coming down an alternating pattern with the trellis which i just think looks kind of nice and it's easy because all of my mounted plants are on one space especially since i also have my fern mounted right here which of course the light's gonna blow it out but and a little spot in the window once again for muffin who is sitting right here grooming herself on my bed and over here this is kind of incomplete i mean the window's gonna stay the same but i really like looking out the windows here so i ordered a bench that i'm gonna have in the corner here and it has a lower section of the bench like it's like a got two like slabs of wood if that makes sense so i'm gonna just put a bunch of plants on the bottom i'm pretty sure because i still have a couple more plants to bring over from my old apartment but um you know hopefully i have the space for them and i was thinking worst case scenario if it's not enough light with the in the lower area which it probably will be because it's like right next to a window i could put some more grow lights in there but i'm working with it so far i've gotten like 85 of my plants to this apartment at this point and uh clearly it's there's a lot of them but i'm surprised with how i'm able to fit them in comparison to like the old space so it's it's i'm really feeling it so yeah that's what's going on so far a little dootsy right here just kind of going at it but if i come back out you can just get another view of the living room which like i said i still have a lot to do there's still stuff on the floor still plants just all over the floor if i come over here because i have not hung like i said that shelf so it's just sitting there so that's one of the last things i have to do and just get a couple more floor plans over here so thank you guys so much this is just the beginning of the plant styling but i think i'm gonna have one more check-in before this video is complete it's been a couple more weeks i was admittedly feeling very good about everything because my place was looking pristine it was like fantastic but then yesterday i went over to the old apartment because i had probably like 50 more plants to grab and i probably still have like five more there that i need to grab i'll probably just throw out because clearly if it's been this long they've been pretty neglected at this point and they're not looking too hot and i just don't have the space for them and they're not worth giving to anybody else um but yeah i had a pristine looking apartment here and now it's full of plants again it looks like a tornado went through here so i'm feeling a little stressed all i want to do is lay on my couch and watch real housewives but now i'm living in a pigsty again so i'm gonna have to figure out where these plants are gonna go most of them are just big plants like i have this calathea orbifolia which i am so excited that i am not going to have my roommate's cat chewing on these leaves anymore you can see how chewed up to bits they were on the edges and they all got brown because of that so yeah i'm excited for this thing to live a good life and i have a couple other like larger like viney plants i got this philodendron and this syngonium another philodendron and like a monstera over there so it's like things that i could probably adhere to this trellis here since i haven't really been utilizing it and i just kind of like covered it in spanish moss from the gully greenhouse video which i don't know if i have uploaded yet at this time but if not you'll be expecting that soon but yeah i haven't really utilized this trellis so i think that this syngonium chia pence right here might be like the perfect thing to put on it because it's you know on a four-foot max pole and i just don't know if i have like the room for that now i have this space right here have i decided what i'm going to do with it yet no and oh my gosh i'm realizing my windows are open and you can probably hear all the towns of the city that i was so excited for you guys not to hear anymore so i'll keep that in mind for next time but i'm thinking here's where i'm gonna put my soul tech solutions aspect light there's a lot of room here it's not a good amount of light because the windows are over here but yeah i think i can do something i think i can do something well with this space i also just have like some like boxes of plants in here still and just like like little boxes over here in the kitchen and stuff that are just going to need to find some homes but we'll deal with that i have officially been living here for over a month and i'm feeling very settled i'm feeling so much more at ease everything is done with the old apartment i don't think i really mentioned in any of my prior videos or earlier in this vlog but i did end up overlapping my last month and first month of my two apartments so i was renting them both out for one month just to make it easier for me obviously moving 450 plants which i have downsized to around 350 thankfully um took a lot of time it wasn't like when i moved from my small apartment when i first started my youtube channel into my last apartment and i had probably like 90 plants and i was able to get all that done in one day this was a multiple week process i needed i think four car loads and the u-haul which obviously was full of my furniture as well to get all of my stuff over here and it was just like week after week i was just like dumping stuff and dumping stuff and i would have my apartment looking pristine in my opinion and then i would just basically drop a bunch of stuff in and that happened every weekend up until really this last weekend so i'm feeling so much more at ease like i said is everything done no but i think this place is looking really good and before i do a formal apartment tour which i don't know exactly when that's going to be happening i do just want to go through and graze over kind of um what i have going on right now in terms of the plant styling because i know i've been kind of just like i've been doing this i've been doing this so i kind of want to give you guys a little more insight as to like what my thought process was behind everything so it's not complete yet like i said but i'm feeling confident enough to share the space with you guys how it's looking right now so this is my little office corner over here and i got my desk chair finally and i did decide to keep the schefflera actinophylla nova in that corner because it's just such a vibe and i absolutely love it and i think it works really well with the trellis especially because the trellis has the synconium chia pens on it and i just really love the juxtaposition that these two plants in particular have with each other the shiny leaves of the schafflera nova that are more jagged and just much more like interesting versus the more round heart-shaped leaves that are more dark green and that on the single name chia pens as well as the other things going on like the orchid and the spanish moss and even like the ad and sonia and the hoya and the brantiana there is just so much going on they're all so different and they all really complement each other which i think is the most important thing when it comes to plant styling having different leaf shapes textures colors and sizes i think that's what's going to keep everything most interesting and i also have my little natural curtain of plants right here so i have all the plants hanging at staggered lengths i would admittedly like to get these two a little bit more staggered but um there's a couple different pot uh colors going on and macrame materials that keeps everything interesting and even though like the string of hearts and the string of pearls hang themselves in such similar manners they have such different structures that it really tends to complement each other and it just really looks so nice and just like they were meant to be together so i'm just really enjoying how this space is looking right now do i have unfinished crates on the bottom yeah you guys know i'm not really a big fan of unfinished wood as i have learned in my endeavors at my last apartment but uh it's gonna work for now i will replace it at some point maybe i'll get like a multi-level shelf thing to put here where maybe i can keep more plants on the bottom it'll look a little bit more uh nice and maybe the color would complement what's going on here a little better but hey we've been here for a month and i can work with this for now i should also mention that the things on the floor i do not really plan on keeping so if we move over i have my window that i would like to keep open as open as possible here so i do have some plants down in the bottom and a little space for muffin to go hiding because she likes to sit and look out the window and i have the little uh creative co-op pockets the wall pockets right here and if i move over to the um the main space this is what i typically see when i'm sitting on the couch as i have my couch right here so i did get a new tv too i got a bigger tv i got a lot of new things since moving in here i'm feeling very good i've upgraded a lot of things so it's i'm feeling very good about everything but this corner over here i feel like is borderline on hoarder-ish but there's a couple reasons why i think it works mainly because there are so many uh like i said leaf textures shapes colors and sizes which is just detrimental to plant styling but i have a focal piece i have had tall mahogany if this was just a sea of small plants that are all just like lower than my knee height uh it would look like a mess but because i have mental mahogany and the plants kind of layered in like almost just one row in front i do have a couple more in the back there i think it works i really do could i remove a couple of them yeah i could totally move like this calathea mosaica maybe a couple of the things that are starting to make it a little hoarderish but you know i'm not hating it i am really enjoying it i won't lie so i do really like this and i haven't actually gone ahead and gotten any grow lights in here because i honestly don't think i need it these windows provide so much light so these are east facing windows they're pretty much completely unobstructed the sun rises over like the river over there which is really nice and it really just comes up and brings so much light into my home that these plants don't really seem to require any extra light so for now i'm going to just carry on uh with having it without the girl lights plus it's probably better visually for me when i'm sitting on the couch watching tv if it's during the day and the lights are on so we'll we'll decide you know in another month or two and i did end up doing a little bit more up here so i think in the prior video i don't know if i really talked about it but i had the air plants hanging up here but i also decided to hang a bracket on the ball and hang an orchid off the wall which i'm also considering using a bracket up here if i want to hang a plant down in this corner of the cebu blue pathos i also have a repsalis that i'm considering like doing a bracket off here and hanging down but i'm not sure if that's going to be overkill or not and i'm going to be like drilling a hole in my waller ceiling to find out so i don't really know how willing i am to do that yet but i'm just thinking about it i do have a very unfinished display going on here it's it's not beautiful i will stay up front and i also have like crap back there so just ignore that please but this is where i'm considering i'm like just picturing and trying to decide if i want to hang my soul tech solutions aspect right here because i feel like i this has the potential to do like a really cool plant corner here specifically because i have this shelf here like i feel like i could work with it but this is just like my preliminary like deciding is it worth it is it not worth it and i also needed to put these plants somewhere so yeah this is probably the ugliest thing going on my apartment right now but i am feeling confident that maybe in a couple of months it could be the highlight of my apartment so give me some time there but you know i love my soul tech solutions aspect like which i will always leave my discount code on screen and in my description for you to use nick2021 and um i'm just haven't figured out exactly where i want to put it yet because it's a staple in my home i need it it really helps out my plants and my plants absolutely love it but i gotta put it on my wall or i hang it in my ceiling so i just haven't really decided how i want to do this yet my kitchen's a mess i will still show you there's really no plants in there other than the pothos that is waiting to be hung and this euphorbia that i haven't decided if i want to give it to one of my growers or not because it's a little poisonous so i'm trying to decide if i want to keep it away from muffin or not but i also put this cast iron plant right here in front of the counter here so it's like when i walk in my apartment i kind of like see it and at first i thought i was going to hate it because that's like typically what i do i do something and then i hate it but i love it i actually really love it i think it's perfect so i'm really digging that and it's a cast iron plant so it's very very good in low light setting since it's in like the dead center of my room so i really only have to water this thing like every two or three weeks and it's perfectly fine and i just throw it in my shower because that's very convenient i really like having the walk-in shower here it's so much easier to water my plants compared to when i had the tub i did also get a little shoe bench you're going to have some low light plants in this corner since it's right next to my front door i like the zz plant and the bromeliad a neon pothos and a san siberia so are they going to flourish here probably not this easy plant will do totally fine but i think it's really cute and it provides some greenery in this area of my home so i also have my little dracaena here hello and i put some potholes in the bottom some of it's still recovering as i keep like adding more and taking some out deciding how i like it to look but this is also a perfect low light plant and it works really well in my mirror and my little oil painting that i have so in my bedroom i have muffin i also i think you might have seen or i might have mentioned my old in an older segment of this video but i did replace my bedding people were chewing me up because i had blue bedding and i said that much i hate blue i hate blue but i got blue bedding in my old apartment because it was like dark and i thought it's gonna be cozy because i never go like in my bedroom in my old place i would just sleep in it but now i'm spending so much more time in my bedroom and i need my bedding to match my style so maybe that's something more to talk about in the apartment tour video i'll talk about where i got everything in that but for now i have my shelf uh like i was saying i want to keep everything inside the shelf so i don't have anything on top especially because the fan is just like blowing right over it so i like this feeling too like if i have the ac on i literally can't even feel it here because it's just blowing right over it which is perfect because i'm not necessarily worried about the ac i'm more worried about the heat when winter time comes back around because that would dry out these plants like crazy but the air conditioning is fine greenhouses you use air conditioning and they use heat too but you know i'm not as concerned about the air conditioning drying out my plants or frying them to a crisp i have the trellis still over here would i like to pardon muffins toys um but i like to have less going on here this is also borderline hoarder-ish i would like to only have two rows of plants just like how i had over with the other trellis i think this is just a little too much going on um but i'll figure it out i'll get there so and i have muffin space where she likes to where she's like to sit she also likes to sit here and she also likes to sit on the bench which i absolutely love the bench i think this is also a new addition for compared to my last segment and i don't know if i had the plants hanging up sorry about the light but i have the plants hanging up here now this is a no-no for me can you can you wonder why it's a big no-no for me um all the leaves have a very similar shape color and texture so i'm not really digging that i have a shitty tuna shitties actually and ahoya and they are just so similar to each other i'm not positive how well this is gonna work out but i really needed to get all three of these plants hung up and they really don't look that bad together i'm being very very critical i am a very critical person as you might be able to tell but uh i'm going to deal with it for now because i feel very confident that all three of these plants are going to flourish here so yes and then i have the staghorn fern i have another one of those creative co-op wall pockets and then i do have a little bit going on over here so i have the monstera deliciosa in the corner um normally i would consider this to be pretty low light but this thing has been doing fine since anybody here hasn't put off a leaf yet no but these things cut off like three leaves a year so i'm not really expecting very much out of it and i've had this thing for years so it's been acclimated to my space has it been in more light in the past yeah but it's not going to just rot and die on me compared to like if i just pulled this one out of a greenhouse and shoved it in this slightly dark corner so i'm really not worried about it at all and i have the ugly name right there which i put in a much cuter pot this is not going to work i don't have a nightstand and um this i'm it's just not working in my apartment but it kind of works with my bed so for now it's working as my nightstand but as soon as i buy a legitimate nightstand this thing is getting out of here and then last but not least i have my little tv area so my calathea orbifolia which is looking so much happier since i moved it here and denver's not chewing on it it really looks so much happier it's like it knows and i have the monstera and a wrath under there and then my shelf which admittedly i would really like to replace this uh monstera silta picana right here but the standard golden pothos i actually went to the farmers market today to get a golden pot this but didn't have any shocking but i will go back next week and they will probably have them but i really want a nice like golden or hawaiian pothos to be coming out of this terracotta pot here i think it'll provide so much more compared to the monster sultan wakanda which while beautiful is admittedly an extremely underwhelming house plant so it will do much better on my shelf i think blending in with the others versus being a standalone vine on the shelf and it's just honestly standing out like a store thumb as the ugly one and i really love the way that i have uh the fishtail i always friendly fern leaf cactus i always call the wrong thing i really love the way it's hanging off here once again is it enough light probably not but i really love it so like when i'm walking my room i see it from this angle and i just really love it so this is the plant styling that i've done you guys have seen it in a couple of steps so hopefully it gives you some insight as to how i work with things like i was saying the most important thing absolutely is to consider the leaf sizes differently sizes i think is the most important followed by uh textures and leaf shapes and then of course color is the last thing to consider because obviously there's a lot of green plants out there so it's not the most important thing but it is nice when you're getting like you know i have like a lime green plant here versus a blue plant versus a green plant so it's just there's a lot to do but you can see even here like having the ripped salis next to the heart leaf shape it's just so wonderful having such different textures and leaf structures around so that's it for today's video this last segment is definitely the longest but i think it's got the most meat that you guys need to understand how i style my space so thank you guys so much for joining me today we're going to get back to our normal videos very soon if you don't already follow me on instagram at philly foliage subscribe to my channel and i will see you guys in my next video have a great day
