what's the worst momzilla moment you have witnessed at a wedding my sister's wedding was so awful my so and I decided not to have a wedding her mother-in-law picked out the dress tried picking all bridesmaids threw a fit when my sister chose our oldest sister as matron of honor instead of my brothers-in-law Ska's and i think it was the whole extended family rushed to the dining hall instead of following behind the horse-drawn carriage and took up all the tables including the bride and groom's so there we were in our best clothes and my sister in her wedding gown and my brother-in-law in his tuxedo dragging dusty tables and chairs out of storage while the extended family just sat there gawping at us I've never met so many backwards and outright rude people in my entire life my sister's future mother-in-law is a teacher she is refusing to have the wedding in September which is convenient for our 80 plus person family as well as her son and my sister she says it has to be in the winter so she can have time off the plan teachers get the summer off never mind that her family consists of eight people total yes extended included and none of them are traveling from out of town azar and airline prices in the winter are exorbitant but then get this she got engaged she got engaged two weeks after her son dead and guess when she wants the wedding is it in September bingo my mom was really offended by the thought that my soul and I were going to type the mailing addresses for the invitations print them off onto stickers and stick them to envelopes she insisted it was tacky and it all needed to be handwritten I said okay but you can do it so I gave her all my invitations envelopes and stamps in a big yellow envelope and tell her to have fun it was about 100 about two weeks later I get a call from my close friend a graphic artist who designed and made my invitations envelopes and helped pick out the stamps she was confused and a little hurt that I didn't tell her I changed everything what my mom changed my invitations to something completely different bought envelopes she liked and used different stamps to not my style at all and cause me to waste a ton of money on invites envelopes and stamps I had bought my mother-in-law decided that we needed hot cups and bought styrofoam disposable cups two days for the wedding right before closing I rented enough coffee cups to get us through but at the reception she put out the styrofoam ones anyway just because she wanted her cups out there it was tacky F but what really bothered me was the fact that I had spent a lot of money renting cups and she was happy wasting it just to stick it to me she was also super rude to my family and told other people I was taking my sirs name even though she knew for a fact that I wasn't relations with her have been terrible since then leash I'd be on the phone with the caterer to let them know that absolutely nothing gets changed without my consent I got married when I was 24 I didn't know many people since I'd moved across the country to live with my fiance when it came time to make up the guest list I think I had about 20 people on it mother-in-law added over 80 her friends Cal hawkers church friends and all of her relatives I had no idea who those people were that came to my wedding I had to find a bigger place to hold the reception because I was too timid to tell her I wasn't okay with what she'd done I purposefully chose a wedding venue that would only seat 100 so she couldn't keep expanding the damn guest list I used a student loan to pay for the caterer I was young and very not smart both sets of parents wanted us to invite everyone but we wanted a small wedding so we invited everyone and had the wedding three days after Christmas in a location that has terrible winter weather shame all those guests we invited couldn't make it my mom is one of those who must be the center of attention at all times and is particularly jealous of other women including me I invited her to go dress shopping out of guilt I didn't really want her to go but this is something you're supposed to do with mom right thankfully I also brought a small posse it started when the group wanted a picture my mother jumped out in front of everyone and struck a pose so she could dominate the picture then she put her chair in front of the mirror so that I wouldn't be able to see myself while standing on the platform one of my friends had to tell her to move similar stuff goes on until we decide we are done for the day we are standing around in a group deciding what to do and concluded we wanted to have lunch meanwhile a few folks have wandered off to the bathroom to look at earrings whatever one friend and I walked 10 feet away to the counter to ask for a restaurant recommendation we get information and I turn around to see my mother pulling out of the parking lot she walked out on us when we spoke next I asked her why she left long story short she was enraged that the group moved off to leave her standing in the bridal store all alone while we were 10 feet away asking about lunch she said that she felt abandoned and that I had cut her off at the knees I will spare everyone the rest of that conversation from then on I cut her 100% out of all planning with no guilt at all my fan can die paid for the wedding so she had no leverage my maid of honors job was to keep her away from me during ceremony and reception I did run into her in the bathroom where she asked me to help her just her dress she had about 4 yards of cleavage hanging out which looks terrific on the 70 year old mother of the bride mother-in-law kept saying we could use their minister after we had repeatedly told everyone we wanted a non-religious wedding she kept saying he would not make it religious after our first few choices could not make it she started to bring it up again but this time it was he will do it non-religious he just asks that you include one Bible verse when it was getting close to the date and we still had no one she just said if we did not get someone in a week she would hire her guy I was just at a wedding where the bride and groom were very noticeably uncomfortable with the priests 30 minute long speech about how wife should submit to her husband it's her job to play a supporting role to his journey and some other cringe-worthy nonsense about Jesus being in your wedding bed Christ that was uncomfortable the poor bride and groom were why as a sheet the entire time I didn't know the bride and groom myself so throughout the entire ceremony I was trying to figure out what their relationship was like the sermon was so impersonal that I couldn't figure anything out about them at the end when they finally said their vows which they thankfully wrote themselves their faces lit up and their personalities burst through that was the only part of the entire wedding that was truly honoring them and a unique relationship I don't know who forced them to hire that guy but my heart goes out to anybody who's ever been forced to hire somebody else's priest my mother-in-law told my brother-in-law he was in the wedding and then told myself and my husband that was most certainly never the plan and was one reason mother-in-law father-in-law and brother-in-law did not come to the wedding she also ruined my bridal shower hubby got a call while we were out to eat one day and because she didn't get an invite we had already cut ties she thought screaming loud enough about it that I could hear her in a decently busy restaurant was the best idea not a huge deal in the grand scheme of things but the surprise of time and date were ruined honestly had my mother-in-law being gone from the start planning a wedding would have been one of the best experiences of my life but alas she was there for more than half of it and still tried to be an annoyance after we cut ties I had problems with bridesmaids fighting with each other at the bar for my Bachelorette a gazillion issues with my mother seriously screaming at me on the phone for so much stuff but the kicker was the night before the wedding rehearsal get-together at my parents house my mother-in-law pulled me aside and told me she hoped it would pour rain the next day outdoor wedding that I have to learn my manners and put my husband before myself which I always do seriously people think it's bad she pulled my husband into a guest room gave him an envelope full of cash and told him not to tell me which he did immediately afterwards there was four K that envelope the only person who made my wedding tolerable was my father who during the issues with bridesmaids told me he'd be my maid of honor on the night before told my husband if he wanted he put a ladder to the room window I was staying at so we could run off and elope I'm a guy but I saw this on a /all and thought I should share I hope that's okay my cousin got married three years ago her mother-in-law was pretty bad momzilla my cousin had plans for my sister my parents and I to be in the wedding since my dad helped raise my cousin and acted as the leading male in her life she lived with us because her dad was her he was going to walk her down the aisle my mom and sister were bridesmaids I was going to be a groomsman and her husband Marine officer had no problem with that since I helped get them together and gave him ideas on what to do for dates etc or at least he said so momzilla former Air Force on the other hand proclaimed the entire planning period that she wanted an all military wedding forced me out of the groom's party filled it with a bunch of her son's buddies and made it clear that my dad wasn't going to give her away but our cousin scene was to walk her down the aisle he was an enlisted duck up however he was military it upset my cousin majorly mother-in-law was paying for all of it and threatened to not pay for it if my cousin didn't comply she complied for the sake of her husband wanting to make him happy and give him a great wedding my cousin regrets agreeing to it and now remembers her wedding as a sham of a ceremony where the people who actually mattered was shunned my mother-in-law and my wife frequently disagree and my mother-in-law is flat-out bat insane our wedding was definitely stressful she constantly wanted to change things and spend tons of money even though she was contributing next to nothing the photographer situation was moronic though my sister is a very talented artistic photographer she doesn't normally shoot people but she has done some great wedding shots at other family weddings I knew she could handle taking pictures at the courthouse and reception we had next to no budget and she was going to do it for $100 because she is a broke college student she offered to do it for free my mother-in-law wanted to hire her friend who was more the I bought an $800 and I do my touch-ups and prints at CVS type of photographer after much drama we told her no absolutely not we weren't paying for someone who we hadn't ever even talked to well the day before my mother-in-law is explaining how we had to be ready for photos at 11:00 excuse me we also found out that morning that mother-in-law had asked my sister to not get in the way of the real photographer at that point I said screw it and told my sister she can keep the $100 and just have a good time she still took some great pictures which is important for the next part we had my sister's pictures a few days later she even used the $100 to take an extra day off from work so that she could get the few she had for us put together quickly it was very nice six months later we asked my mother-in-law R about the pictures her friend had taken she loads up Fassa book and shows us pictures of our wedding with a nice watermark on them and explains we can get the originals we just haven't paid her friend yet these weren't all that great but there were pictures of my grandparents pictures where my sister was actually in them instead of behind the camera a picture of my sister taking a picture with the caption I even had some help from the groom's sister a junior photographer the problem was still that my sister only took a few pictures at my instruction to avoid drama so we were stuck with these of course the lady wouldn't sell us just a couple we had to pay her for the full day $500 it gets better still we gave mother-in-law the money she got the photos and didn't tell us but went ahead and sent them out to all of her friends and family it wasn't until a year after our wedding that we got copies of our photos that we had paid for actually it was my sister Zilla she invited a childhood forced together friend that I didn't actually like to be a bridesmaid in my wedding and by the time I was told about it she had already bought a non-refundable ticket I told everyone to go out and find an inexpensive black dress that that looked amazing in and wear that didn't matter to me if they all matched I just wanted everybody to feel beautiful my sister dragged my bridesmaids out my eldest sister herself in the friend I didn't like two masses without my knowledge or permission and bought the ugliest outfits I have ever seen my maid of honor thought she was an idiot and didn't go so she was dressed in a fantastic black velvet number and everybody else looked terrible my husband had more groomsmen than I had bridesmaids which was fine with me one of them had driven 19 hours straight to be in our wedding and my sister made him and two others sit down and not be in the ceremony because she thought too many groomsmen made me look unpopular my husband's sister wanted to be a groomsman and so she dressed in a man's tux and looked fantastic she was to escort my terrible sister down the aisle after the ceremony but my sister refused to take her arm because she thought she was a lesbian after my husband and I left for the honeymoon my sister thought my friends looked Shady even though he shared the house with them and took all of my presents so they would be safe to my brother's house and didn't tell us so when we got home we thought we had been robbed I married a Filipino it was important to me to visit his extended family in the Philippines and we had a church ceremony there I am your basic white American mutton my husband's culture is important to me we had a wedding in the States for our American families but my mother insisted on coming to the Philippines - it was her first time out of the country the culture shock hit her hard she complained for a week about everything the bed was uncomfortable it was too humid there was no hot water she demanded Diet Pepsi and an accommodating uncle drove around to find it for her she refused to go anywhere because she was self-conscious about being obese around such small people all around Manila we saw begging children and homes made of scrap materials that she loudly hated the food and seemed to not see the needy people around her she judged the way the cousins raised their children and how many they had even though many were adopted from orphanages she boost it up and left in anguish a week early a month after we got a call my mother had been using our poor Arne's phone to talk to her boyfriend in Colorado for hours every day she'd left hundreds of dollars in bills which we paid I used to make wedding dresses the mother of the bride made numerous attempts to get the color and style of the dress changed right up to calling two days before and assuming a creepy little girl voice pretending to be her daughter my former mother-in-law had visited our city about a month before our wedding she was living all the way in Alaska she flew in twice without notice to pop in on parties and such well when it came time for our wedding she magically didn't have enough money to find but everyone thought she was going to pop up and watch the doors of the reception the whole time she didn't show still our Thunder and hurt our feelings after she asked me if I had cancer because I was thin I knew she wouldn't be my mother-in-law forever divorced them after four years
