Paul Hollywood & Prue Leith Pick The Best Snack In America | Bon Appétit

it's quite boring I like old socks I didn't think it's too bad you joking I don't think my dog would eat them that's got some flavor [Music] hi I'm Paul Hollywood and I'm Prue Leith and we're both from the Great American baking show now today we're going to be judging American snacks I don't know that many snacks in the states I shouldn't be judging this at all because I don't even need British snacks should we crack on and see where it takes it maybe it'll um convince me this okay these two Brits are looking for the best American snack something which has wonderful texture excellent flavor very interesting and sort of Moorish so that you want to have another one and then another one and then another one goodness what have you got there it's called a Twinkie this is a Christmas thing well they look like Swiss Rolls to us well twinkle I've heard of people mentioned in Twinkies on movies and stuff but remember actually had one yeah you've got the chocolate version and I've got the same one you're going to try this as well well I'll buy one in you can bite the other end I quite like the lemony sponge the cream inside is horrible you want to try that that's dry boring that's better than this though that this is elimination we just have to kick out one and this is worse than that but that's not brilliant no but it doesn't matter I don't think it'll last long but she's got I don't know that much stuff in it it probably last another 10 years and remain exactly the same oh I know that but I'm in through this competition I think we haven't eliminated this one yet right oh no you're talking I'm a massive fan of Snickers I like Snickers too that tastes different oh my God it's a lot better than that how could you mess up a Snicker I didn't think it's too bad you joking have you ever had this in the UK no the difference is the quality of the chocolate is poor the quality of the chocolate in the UK was actually pretty good I don't know I'm gonna eat another Snicker again I'm ruined I want a problem here I don't like peanut butter it's like having um a peanut chalk both of these are better than both of the previous ones but we have to choose which is the best out of these two it has to be the Snicker because I like them anyway in the UK no no that's not a good reason you've got to like this better than that well it did because that's all right monstrous so goodbye to the poor little cups they're loads of the Snickers hello to the Snickers yeah right I've got thin mint so I love mint glorious are okay yeah I imagine the Oreos that we get in England are American Oreos because they're not they're not crispy it's got a real flavor to it they feel fresh um they'll be good dunkers then that's good they're not bad then these are girl scout cookies and they're called Thin Mints remember the bicamp biscuits in the UK yeah the Vodka mint biscuits they look a bit like that what color chocolate is that this looks as if it's been around a while because it's lost it's lost its shine isn't it oh all right yeah good texture they're nice though the mint levels are good it's not overwhelming do you like them better than the Oreos I could have another rare but I couldn't have another one of those I think the Oreo takes the biscuit yeah I think so yeah it's it's a nice biscuit though oh now you're talking oh we're into the snacks party size so I take it there's about three four packets in it I presume so let's have ridges straight they're just a really salted crisp very nice very fresh very light I love that one the light feels that they feel like these feel a little bit heavier though this is correct crisp yummy delicious and tasty it says oh great I would agree I'm not going to throw this down are you gonna take them home with you I think these are born because they're nice and light I mean they are like a British crisp stop eating them for Hollywood I like them okay oh God they look over processed we've had Doritos before I have that is a nice Dorito smell cheesy like a little wafer cracker quite taste them quite boring yeah you get both of them pretty quick if you had a little bit of Brie and you put it on the top and a half a grape sitting on the top because it's quite dry all the aftertaste is a bit nasty isn't it I don't like that very much they're like old socks it's not that bad yeah you'd have good guacamole over there yeah good guacamole without you laughing okay we like that and foreign oh my God what is that oh I love cheese puffs have you ever seen so many they're not very exciting but now this one is called Cheetos crunchy flaming hot flavored that's got some flavor flaming Hearts they're not flaming hot but they are hot oh wow yeah they've got a bit of heat to them haven't they that's all they've got though they just Taste of a bit of chili yeah but the after effect in the mouth is nicer than that much nicer I'm gonna read what it says yeah baked cheddar right naturally and that's officially flavored oh well it's the artificial flavor you go oh that's officially I'm definitely have some more of them they sound amazing I like these normally I just don't like that particular aftertaste on this one so I'm going to go for the um yeah goodbye cheese balls yeah cheese balls so this is round two and we're looking for moorishness something that is irresistible you have to have another one and then another one oh Snickers again now we've had this before and it was nice and it went through based on the fact that the UK one's nice but that one was awful we're in the second round now and the Pop-Tarts has got to buy okay lucky popped up we'll see about that shall we you might punishment for being so lucky I thought they have to go in the toaster yeah what the hell is that on that that doesn't look exciting I don't really want to read that that's not too bad revolting who the hell eats that stuff well if I was starving I'd eat it if I was starving I'd eaten for six months and it was the only thing alive on the planet I might just possibly have a little nibble but otherwise no I'm gonna have to go for that again even though it's not as good as the British one but it's okay yeah the stickers go through again sorry Paul you're in so much pain okay twinkies and Oreos now this is the Crave ability if you had a cup of tea oh I'd have an Oreo right I'd have an Oreo with that without a shadow overdose okay Oreos so Oreos go through because they're crispy they're more fresher and they're just nicer I didn't like the middle of the twinkie the hideous now we've got another byproduct what's that it's called Converse is that a pizzeria flavor what is that you'll be very rude about our hosts National snacks I don't think my dog would eat them oh my God have you tried it no I'm trying to get up the courage to put it in my mouth my dog would spit that back out see if I can beat your dog I don't believe anyone ever eats the second one of those oh this is the burritos and these are the flaming hot ones the Flaming Hots were good they had the whole the flavor really nicely they're a nice bites I like these but I think they have one flavor which is chili yeah whereas I think these are much more subtle they've got a bit of smokiness you can taste the corn I think these are the best yeah let's go with Doritos this is round three and actually round three is about Indulgence you know you're gonna have it for morning afternoon night and supper oh Snickers back again but against Oreos I'm sorry Mr Snicker bar if you're more like the British one you'd be in there but because you're not although you made that decision all by yourself yeah and this is going to be tricky you know I mean that's the classic flavor basic down to earth finding the Doritos are more interesting I'm good Dorito because of the depth of flavor crispiness and more thing although I must say this is a it's a very good stress Doritos go into the final against what the Oreos how interesting okay so these are two very different snacks and both Classics let's face and they are Classics and they're they're quite well known globally I mean the thing is about a snack is you need to have more than one I'm not sure I can eat more than one or two of these at a time the Oreo is quite Rich although however nice it is I've never quite understood their appeal because they're quite they're really crisp and a nice dark chocolate taste the cream in the middle contributes nothing really except a texture this is a much more subtle interesting layered and pure in a way it's quite pure it's just corn and flavoring Doritos are the kind of the snacks that holds these stupid British people so we have a winner the winner definitely a worthy winner I was rather nervous we'd have all I correct you there we did have some horrible snacks we did but we didn't have all horrible snacks that's a great snack that's a winner worthy winner I'll have them for lunch is mine oh yeah
