what's up guys welcome back to the channel today we're going to take a look at installing some mods for power world and this is to help increase performance we're going to be using the experimental FSR 2 uh pack that we'll get into here and we'll go over all the different steps for both Steam OS for your steam deck and for Windows for any of your other windows devices including all of your handhelds so let's go ahead and get into it here this is going to be over on Nexus mods from Steam deck Essentials which is for all the handhelds and like I said even Desktop Windows uh PCS and that's what we're going to go with here and have a description uh I'll have a link in the description as well and on the page there's all kind of stuff here for the installation the instructions places uh to put everything but we'll go over that here in the video you do have stable and experimental I'm going to be using the experimental FSR 2 in this as it gives me the most gains um but the stable version just omits FSR 2 has a couple of things to add on and we'll talk about that more as we get into it here but we're going to start on the steam deck and Steam OS first here for the guide and either way the first thing you need to do is launch into the game before you install any of the mods go into options graphics and make sure antialising is set to TAA if this is not set to TAA first before you install the mods it's not going to work properly so make sure you go in here have antialising on TAA you'll see dlss is grade out this is all going to change when we come back in with the mods but have this set and you'll be good to go all right so now that we've done that we're going to go to desktop modes so we can do all the mod installation from there and now that we're on desktop mode it's going to be a few steps but it's actually pretty easy and I'll show you where everything's going to go here now one thing you're going to need is proton tricks uh something we'll need in a little bit when we go to registry edit for po world and if you don't have it already go search for it under all applications and download proton tricks and have it ready to go so that when you're putting all of your mod stuff in you'll have this ready to launch in a little bit and uh and be ready to go there so we'll come back to that when we get to that step all right so we're going to go ahead and go over to the website that we were already looking at steam deck Essentials for all handhelds here I'm going to download the experimental uh version FSR 2 included onto the steam deck and if you have a free account here it's just a slower download but it's still pretty easy pretty quick if you have a paid account it'll be a little quicker but you do need an account to be able to do uh your download here and once we get this downloaded ready to go we'll go ahead and close this out and we'll go down into our file explorer here and go into downloads and you'll see how I have the uh the mods downloaded here I'm going to put those into a power world mods folder that I made just to keep things clean and then we're going to go ahead and extract this archive here and that's going to give us all the stuff we need now to mod power world all right so the read me text is going to have all your directions just like we looked at in the website the first two steps are basically the stable version the engine and the mod pack if you stop there uh you're done and you would basically be doing that with the stable version if you continue on and do everything else we're going to get the full effect and FSR 2 and all of that which we're going to do in this video all right so one of the first things that we'll do here is I'm going to go ahead and open up another new window so I can kind of go back and forth and make it a little bit easier uh to go through and show you everything now if you don't see these uh darkened folders make sure you have show hidden files uh selected there so that you can see everything and then we're going to be ready to start with our mod so we're going to go into local share steam we're going to go to Steam app apps and then we're going to go to compat data and then we're going to have a folder over here and mine is 16 21730 here you're going to need to yours may be the same both my steam decks have been the same but if not you're going to need to go find that go into drive C go into users go into steam user app data local pal for your pal folder here saved config and Windows now this is where our engine.ini file is at and I've made a copy of that out on my desktop so it's easy for me to revert so if you want to do that same thing you can I have copies of everything really all over to make it easy but uh if you want to do that you can but we're going to go in here to our mods folder we're going to go into our engine and you have these different options for me now I'm going to go ahead and go with my ultra performance TSR here um but you can go through an experiment and try whatever you want with these mods for different performance but I'm going to go ahead and copy this one we're going to go back over into our folder here where our engine's at we're going to paste and we're going to overwrite this and that's going to be the first part of our mod installed now we're going to go ahead and close out of this or go home and we'll go back in and get ready to do the next part which I think we'll go ahead and grab the mods folder next so we're going to want to grab this guy up here and copy him so we click on that we'll do copy now I'll bring up another window again and we're going to go go into local share steam steam apps and this time we'll go to Common find your PO World folder and open that up now we're going to go into pal content packs and then paste in our mods folder right here now that step is done we'll go back two steps here where we had binaries and that's where we're going to be able to put our game directory files that we have so we're going to open this up go to win64 and you'll see the power world um x64 shipping.exe here this is the file location that we want to go and grab these game directory files from and paste in there so we're going to need the Steam OS one here go in here we're going to go ahead and highlight and copy both of these files we'll paste them over here in our binary 164 directory here with our shipping.exe and there we go so we've gotten those in there and we can move on to the The Next Step here so we'll go back now we've got mods in we've got our engine in we've got our game directory files done which leaves us with our registry and it leaves us with putting the launch option command into steam itself um which is listed right here in your directions as well so I'm going to actually just copy and paste this one it's a little bit more complicated on Steam OS versus Windows here but um it's all in here in the readme that you can grab it as well make sure you don't get any Extra Spaces or anything or it's not going to work properly we go ahead and copy that and then I'm going to go ahead and go into steam where we have power power world and we'll get into the properties so here we have power world we'll click on the little gear icon go to properties and then you'll see launch options in general right here I'm just going to paste that in and there we go that's all we have to do for that part now that just leaves us with the regge edit that we're going to handle here for this file and this is where proton tricks is going to come in that we were talking about in the beginning so go ahead if you haven't downloaded it get it launch proton tricks once you do that you'll see Power World here with your compat dat add a folder listed power world we're going to click that we're going to click okay might take a minute or two but eventually it'll come up with the next step for you and we're going to click select the default uh y prefect so leave that as is and we're going to go down here and click okay and then we're going to go to run reg edit so we'll go up here and click that we'll click okay and then you'll get the same looking thing you would normally get over on windows with your registry editor here all right move this down here now you click on register up here in the left corner import registry file and now we're going to go grab that one that we have in our downloads uh mod folder here and there it is right there so I'm just going to double click that and then it added it to the registry and then close that out now we've done everything we need to do to mod power world and have FSR 2 and everything working here on Steam so I'm going to close all this out we're going to restart back into game mode and we'll launch the game so let's go ahead and restart we're back in game mode here we'll go into options and you'll see now now antialising is gray out and dlss now says performance and you can go in there and select quality performance balance and all that stuff like you normally would uh really cool so we jump into the game and yeah indeed in this uh area here I'm already uh hitting up in the 50s which is much higher than what I would normally get here um you could even use onboard Steam OS FSR but it doesn't do quite as good as this so here's a comparison before the mods and after and some differences you can see depending on what mod engine you pick is going to depend on what kind of details there are in water textures lighting shadows and all those kinds of things but definitely a nice Improvement on the steam deck uh with this mod pack this has been working really well for me I've done this on the OLED and on the LCD and yeah you're still going to have times where you come down in your frame rate especially later on the game when things get busy but this has all in all been a well worthwhile mod for me here now jumping over to the legion go same exact thing we're going to do windows now you need to open your game and make sure you're on TAA otherwise it's not going to work when you set up the mod so we'll do that very first thing here on Windows I happen to be using the legion go cuz I have it here and I've been playing power world on it but the Ally or any other windows handheld or any desktop with Windows this has been working fine for me but we're just using the go here as an example so same thing we're going to go over here to the Nexus mods I'll have this in the uh Link in the description tells you all about your installation and everything here your directions which you also get that readme file I'm only going to go for the steam deck Essentials experimental FSR 2 here so I Implement everything but just like over on Steam OS there you can stop at the more simple stable and not do FSR 2 if you wanted to so now that we've downloaded the mod we're going to go ahead and extract it here get this opened up and then we'll have all the same options we just had over on Steam OS here but a little bit different when it comes to placing these here on Windows for the steam version of the game here so you got the same readme here and it'll have your um your dx12 launch option for steam there you'll have your other directions and everything here but we'll go over everything in the video and this is for steam The Game Pass version would be a bit different I'm not touching on anything for that uh in this video this does focus on Steam all right so moving on from here we're going to go ahead and open up our folders we've got our mods ready to go first thing I'm going to do is go ahead and copy this mods folder all right and we're going to go back over we're going to go into this PC and my C drive I'm going to come down here to program files x86 down to steam we're going to go to steam apps and we're going to go into common and then our power world folder our pal folder and then content and packs and then we're going to go ahead and paste our mod folder right in here there we go all right first step done so we'll go back next thing will be in the binaries we'll open this up win64 and now this is where you're going to see the power world win64 shipping.exe that's that's where we want to put these game directory files that are in here we'll pick Windows folder here from the mods we'll select all three files copy these and then we'll go and paste them over here in our wi64 file here all right and all three of those are in there ready to go all right move on to the next step here we've got our mods folder in we've got our binaries in our right area here for our game directory folder that's going to take us into the engine so if you want to make backups you can certainly do that before you paste in any and overwrite your engine but we're going to go in here and go to normal art style and I'm just going to pick the same thing I did on the steam Deck with ultra performance TSR and we're going to copy the engine here let me show you first when we go over here so if I go into this PC my C drive we're going to go into users J vano or whatever your name is on there and we have app data now if app data doesn't show up for you let me back up you click up here if this isn't shown we're going to click up here on the three dots for this folder we're going to go to options and then we're going to click view up here and then down here show hidden files and folders you want to make sure that's selected if app data is not showing up for you all right so we go ahead and open that we'll go to local we'll come down here and find our pal folder once we find that we'll open that up go to saved go to config Windows now you're actually going to do both of these folders but go ahead and open up Windows here you can see the engine file engine um mod file we're going to be changing here so if you wanted to make a copy of this and save it out on the desktop or in another folder you could certainly do that so that you could repaste it in and overwrite it but I've already made backups of everything so I'm not going to worry about it let me go over to my mods folder with the engine file we had picked I'll copy this all right all right once we copy that I'm just going to paste it here into the windows we'll replace the file in the destination and now we're going to go back and we're going to the windows uh wind GDK same engine file in here we're going to go and just paste the same mod engine file in all right we replace that and that's finished so our engine files are in both places our mods folder has been put where it belongs our game directory files are in and that just leaves us with the regge edit and the launch option in steams so let's go ahead and get those last two things done and I think we'll go ahead and start with steam here so let's bring steam up we'll go to power world the little gear icon we'll go to properties we're going to go to these launch options and it's just going to be the Das dx12 now if you look in the read me it'll show it right here you can copy and paste it you can type it whatever you want it's a lot shorter and easier than what we had to do over on Steam OS but anyway the- dx12 we're going to place that right into the launch options here and there you go that's all you got to do for that part so we'll close this out and the last thing that's going to bring us to is our regge edit now you can just double click this regge edit file and it will install itself or at least it has for me on two of the windows PCS I've done but another way to do it is you could go into search here start typing out the uh regge edit and it'll just come up as an option and you can open up registry editor there's other ways to get to it as well uh but that'll get you there all right same thing is over on cosos here so we go to file up here in the left top corner and we'll import this file from our downloads from our mods there it is I'm just going to double click it and that'll add it right in all right we can go ahead and close to regge editor and close out our mods folder and we've done everything we need to do to mod power here on Windows for our steam version of the game so let's go ahead and get launched in check our settings and see how the game is doing for us here all right we'll go down to options and we should see grade out and dling yep and dlss here now uh able to be chosen with like the performance Ultra balanced and all that like it should be here for the mod and jumping into the game much like over on Steam deck this is at 1200p this would normally run much lower but we are getting better performance here with the mod at 20 watts and side by side here you'll see what's about 14 FPS gain or so 145 FPS gain by using the mod and the FSR 2 here at 1200p on the legion so if you're on the Ally or any of the other handhelds you're certainly going to see a nice boost I've used this on my 1050 TI 2016 gaming PC doesn't do great these days but this mod actually helped me out over there as well making the game much more playable so uh I know this mod will change over time hopefully the install doesn't change much if at all but I know he'll keep tweaking things and making it better and better that's kind of what he does there um but it's been working well for me now using this experimental FSR 2 mod on both Steam OS and on Windows and on multiple devices so hopefully this guide helped you guys out for getting this mod set up for power world certainly a game I'm having way too much fun with hope hopefully you guys are too thanks a lot for coming and check out the video as always I really appreciate it and I'll see you in the next [Music] one
