BETHANY: There's actually two cars fleeing at the same time. And they're driving really close to each other. ROBB: How we look? You're good. You're good. Usually that tells us that either they just committed a crime, or one of the cars is stolen, if not both. Is that one of them? This is one of 'em right here. I been listening to you for 20 minutes and all you do is lie, and now you can't tell me who was with you! We're gonna send your little ass to prison. So welcome to Florida. Not everybody can play bad cop. There's so many different interviewing styles. I try to use the one that cuts right to the point really fast. BETHANY: How many other people were in the car? ROBB: All right, now you're making me feel a little bit better. He finally confesses, but we just wasted too much time with him and the other three guys had time to get away. That guy made me yell at him. I mean, he's such a bad liar. I would love to play poker with that guy. He's that bad of a liar. I think it's a shame that he's already getting into trouble when he said that he came here to start over. He just needs to make better decisions. (Bethany chuckles) ROBB: Not always. I think almost every time I've seen you. ROBB: I'm lost being good cop, though. (laughing) (line rings) -We're all over it. -If you've got a call with 10, we'll be able to pick it up. Tell me what we got, kid. Ooh! MAYVILLE: Rescue 4, copy. Working fire. Flames showing. I don't see nothing yet. BOGUSH: Just got dispatched to a working structure fire. Just heard on the radio that, uh, they've got, uh, fire through the roof and heavy smoke conditions and they've already called for a second alarm. Second alarm means that the situation has become too large and life endangerment is so great that they're gonna need the extra hands. There is smoke, though, so it is a working fire. Huh? Oh, yeah. Oh, look at that right there, Billy! MAYVILLE: Yeah, I see it. Oh, yeah, it's cooking, kid. We've got, uh, heavy fire here at the front. We're gonna have to get some hand lines in through the front windows. Let's get some lines on that. (whoops) MAYVILLE: Right here, kid! Right here. BOGUSH: Eco's advised that the power has been shut to the entire building. Command by. Copy that. Squirt water on it. BOGUSH: We need to keep a steady stream of water on these propane tanks to keep 'em cool. 'Cause if these things heat up and light off, then they're gonna take off like missiles, they're gonna throw some shrapnel around and they're gonna end up causing us some serious issues. (explosion) BOGUSH: Command to County 32. I want to get some hand lines pulled. We've got, uh, propane tanks over there I'm a little worried about. We're dealing with a second alarm structure fire. BOGUSH: It's important for us to get these hose streams in place to keep that fire in check and keep it from moving over to those propane tanks and causing us some serious issues. BOGUSH: Any time you get a building of this size and you get partial collapses, it's extremely difficult to get these fires put out. BOGUSH: It can be frustrating sometimes, but you just have to tuck that away and focus in on what your goals are and just meet those goals, one by one. BOGUSH: Acknowledge, thank you. You know, as an incident commander, you take pride in seeing these guys bringing it all together, being able to take this chaotic, madhouse situation, bringing some kind of order to it. There's no doubt about that. 'Cause that thing was getting it. Well, I mean... there wasn't no window without -fire coming out of it when we first got there. -Right. I was not kidding you. When we turned around to go out and there was light coming in, I could see your silhouette-- you were smoking like a campfire. I'm like, "Holy crap, it's too hot in here, man. We're gonna just ignite." BETHANY: You became a cop because you like chasing bad guys. That's exactly right. Well, what age did you think you knew -you wanted to be a cop? -You really want to know the truth? -Yeah. -I was four. -Four? -Like, when you were a kid, you didn't look at cops and say, "Man, that's pretty cool"? -No. -Really? -(chuckling): No. -I guess I'm a dork. Where? Right here. BETHANY: We hear Air Service say that they just saw someone run from a car when a marked patrol unit drove past it. ROBB: All right, we're here. Which house? ROBB: 391. It's the black car on the west side, right? ROBB: Yeah, you get nervous all the time. You know, to stay alive in this job, you got to assume everybody's armed. Here we go. Yes. ROBB: It's a dangerous situation when you can't see them behind a fence. Watch him right there. ROBB: Perfect place to ambush the police. MARK: Straight up at him. ROBB: Don't run. Let me see your hands. Put your hands up, man. Put your hands in the air! ROBB: Keep your hands out of your pockets. Watch him right there. BETHANY: Air Service witnessed someone run from a car when a marked patrol unit drove past them. ROBB: Put your hands up, man. -Put your hands in the air! -Let me see your hands! BETHANY: Hands in the air. ROBB: Put 'em on top of your head, you interlock them. Do you always sleep under the stairs? (siren chirps) I don't know, you tell us. You left the car running. Right there. DIMITRI: What's your story, buddy? The average person, when they see the police, doesn't just get up and start running. No, we was already out here hanging out. But you're sweating, you turn around and ran. This is from going over the fence? -This right here? -MAN: Yes, sir. Yeah, over the fence when you hit the ground on the other side? ROBB: I got to go check under the stairwell. DIMITRI: There's a bunch of money down here. Bet you it's his. Counterfeit money. Yeah, that's what he was hiding. Oh, buddy, it's right where you climbed out. Buddy, that's the worst counterfeit money I've ever seen. He said it wasn't his, but everything under the staiase was dirty, and damp, except for his money and him. That's why you jumped over there, and that's why you hid it, and you were worried about it. Tell the truth. All right, that's the first thing you've told true. Guess what? You're probably gonna get a ticket and get out of here. Listen to me closely, my name's Robb, all right? And I'm out here all the time. The next time you deal with the police, don't drag them through this. BETHANY: All right, just sit tight. You want to talk to him anymore? No, I'm done with him. BETHANY: When Air Service saw him, he was trying to get away or, like, avoid you. BETHANY: So we can't charge him with the bills 'cause we didn't find them on him. And you can't charge him with stupidity. Unfortunately. ROBB: The spot where he was hiding? I was shining my light on him, I could not see him. I guess he couldn't get that gate open. And that's why he jumped over it. He's getting nothing really. Getting a criminal traffic ticket. The problem is Air Service spotted him watching the march unit. When the march unit turned, and he took off running, there wasn't much we could do. We can't even really charge him with resist 'cause the police officers never said stop. No. I feel like I drove 90 miles an hour into a wall. (laughs) (alarm bell ringing) (siren wailing) STOKES: Nine-year-old kid, difficulty breathing. Had a treatment, it's not working. MAYVILLE: Being a dad, calls with children kind of tends to tug at your heart a little bit. You tend to relate more personally. -Let's go say hi to the little guy. -4 on scene. MAYVILLE: Hey, big guy. -What's up? -(air hissing) You okay? You scared? What are you scared of? Heart hurts? STOKES: Yeah, that's from breathing so fast. Take it easy. You'll be all right. MAYVILLE: Let's take this out your mouth. I'm gonna listen to your breathing, okay, big guy? Yeah? STOKES: So you have asthma? How old are you, bubba? Nine? Man, you look like you're ten at least. MAYVILLE: I thought you were like 24. STOKES: Take a nice, easy, deep breath. Slow your breathing down. There you go. Now, when you take a deep breath, does it hurt pretty bad right in there? Where's it hurt? Point to it for me. Right there? You been coughing? You get a headache? Well, you got to stop that coughing then. You don't want no headache, do you? The thing he's saying is, when he takes a nice, deep breath, he's having some chest pain. Now, it could be... Does he have, does he have a history of pneumonia? Okay, has he had a fever? Okay. MAYVILLE: Asthma in itself, if left untreated, can be dangerous. Now we're learning he has a history of pneumonia. Everything's a little more serious. Our main goal at this point in time is to keep him calm, and let him know that everything's gonna be okay. Is that pain feeling a little better in your chest? No? Put you back on this stuff again here. You still scared? I ain't gonna do nothing to hurt you, all right? No needles, no nothing. How about that? Sound like a plan? All right. You ever seen a picture of you heart before? You want to? Right there? That's your heart beat. Each time it beats, this big line form goes, okay? You want a picture of that? When I'm treating kids, I tend to treat them as my own, so I take all kids very serious and personal. You want to give me a bump? All right.
