This is basically how I got into anime as a kid.

Way back in the mid 80s I was watching shit like Smurfs and He-Man and my parents would just pick up any cartoon that our local VHS rental place had.

They got me the whole first season of Robotech and left me to it. It’s not as hard core as this for sure, but coming from GI-JOE to something that had actual character deaths, sex and story progression, massive space battles…

It blew my little 8-year-old mind and I loved it.
