My Father's House & How To Get There - Anthony Mangun

john saw the holy city new jerusalem coming down from god out of heaven prepared as a bride adorned for her husband and i heard a great voice out of heaven saying behold the tabernacle of god is with men and he will dwell with them and they shall be his people and god himself shall be with him and he will be your god i got a heavenly father that's not just he's my god [Applause] i'm going to talk about my father's house and how to get there but i'm also going to name this two names okay i'm also going to call it side by side now if you don't know why all these are up here that's why they're up here because they're caught side by side any of you think you can get it by yourself you're in for trouble i'm glad for side besides amen put your bibles down one more time help me clap with a big shout of praise to god uh stand for just a moment because i want to give honor to somebody i think you would know will if you don't mind would you throw the picture up there of one great man to those of you that are new in the church are missing that's my father he and my mother put the foundation under this church i love you dad you may be seated in our church we have a group of men that are called pathfinders and occasionally they will go out riding four-wheelers and uh side by sides and every year once a year they go to colorado and at that particular week i try to join them for a day or two and we ride four-wheelers we started out with four-wheelers and then mickey wanted to go so they got me a side-by-side so the last few years we have been riding in colorado in a side by side so on this father's day june the 16th the day that is set aside to honor our families realizing that we as the men or the fathers of the home or the hell of the home requires us to be side by side with our wife and side by side with our kids all men whether married or single side by side with your church and side by side with your pastor in the pastoral staff faithful committed men discipling others as a father or husband through the years you've heard me take many different subjects and texts as i preach of this congregation on father's day we've talked about being greater lovers and greater leaders and greater laborers and an example in all things so that our children who are with us and our wives who are side beside us can see not a talking bible but a living bible in every successful home in the last few father's day you've heard pastor talk about discipline that has to be there self-discipline the discipline of our children not do as i say but do as i do and then devotion the loyalty and the unity submission one to another side by side the family that prays together stays together i've talked about family devotion encouraged very strongly that all we fathers and men always have devotions in our home devotion to the lord and devotion to one another i've tried to encourage very strongly in this congregation something that's sometimes hard for we men to do and that is discussion talking things over children feeling free to come to you in any problem or situation and then i've talked to you about a father's determination side by side hand in hand walking each day side by side with jesus harmonious united in love submitted to one another successful and happy to emphasize the ingredients of side by side i have dedicated in this church a month which is the month of october that we call family month we put so much emphasis on our family because a church is only as strong as our family but today if you allow me i'm not going to give you instructions on how to be a good father i'm not going to talk about being this kind of father or the example of that kind of father today in preparation for this service i prayed and i began to talk about where we're going and what god's doing i begin to think about my father's house and i begin to talk about how i'm going to get there and this place where his program began and where it will all in that place call heaven and the home is kind of a foretaste of heaven where jesus christ is the center and the worship and the fellowship and the unity revolves all around him fallen man is a creature that god will not trust in the beautiful garden adam showed that man was flesh and man could not be trusted so he gave us the law and he had also proved to him unworthy the confidence of god as has been said we find is true man's affections may be stern man's intelligence is informed man's conscience can be convicted but still god cannot trust flesh man in the flesh is condemned that's why when that ruler of the sanhedrin representing israel's highest ecclesiastical court when that ruler of the jews came to jesus by night and he held him and he greeted him with this line hey great teacher it was like jesus just ignored him it was like jesus was not going to respond for the information that maybe he was getting ready to ask all of a sudden jesus stops and he says two words verily verily which means a truth of a truth a truth that is of a truth a truth that is truth truth which is used only when was about to mention something that was momentous in nature in the word of god that double verily denoted what he was about to say was of solemn weighty significance the supreme importance of the new birth by forming that except a man be born again he cannot see the kingdom of god and then he goes to verse 5 in john 3 and he said accept a man be born of water and of spirit he cannot enter the kingdom of god so what we know from this conversation is you cannot see you can't even see nor can you enter unless you have been born again the kingdom of god cannot be seen neither be entered until you have a new birth experience for the kingdom of god is not meat and drink but it is righteousness and it is peace and it is joy in the holy ghost and the greatest thing that you can give your children and the greatest thing you can give to your family today is to leave here baptized and full of the holy ghost and fire verily verily of a truth except there be no exceptions a man be born again water in spirit he cannot know the spiritual things the new birth is seen to be the most supreme and important thing a thing of profound eternal importance every human being that has reached the age of accountability must understand you were born the first time in sin and shape it in iniquity you were born with your faith towards hell but jesus said marvel not that i say unto you you must be born again the hope that i bring to this congregation is this has no hope but jesus said i don't put any confidence in it but i'm giving you something far greater than that i've given you the opportunity to be born again that first birth jason was important when your father had you but the second time you were born is the greatest important for that's when your name is written in the lamb's book of life barb or not i say unto you john the beloved records in every chapter of the gospel of john john 1 11-13 he came unto his own and his own received him not but as many as received him to them gave he power to become the sons of god even to them that believe on his name which were born notice not of blood nor of the will of flesh nor of the will of man but of god my goal this morning in the next 30 minutes is to make sure every man woman boy or girl before you leave this place has had an experience with god that changes you completely that's known as the baptism of the holy ghost what a gift we can give our family to know you've been baptized with the holy ghost oh hallelujah not all the nation of israel but as many as did receive him to them gave he power to become the sons of god in his very first letter in first john 3 and 2. beloved now are we the sons of god it does not yet appear what we shall be like when shall appear we shall be like him for we shall see him all he is we shall see him as he is we're not talking about a social journey here we're not talking about a culture thing here we're not talking about a good old american apple pie way here we're talking about god and eternity and how to get there with jesus christ in our eternal home god's family we're pilgrims and strangers this world is not our home no matter what you're going through today whether you're blessed and you're happy or whether you feel down and out of this father's day let me tell you you just a pilgrim and you're just a stranger and the song that we sing around here sometimes we laugh together sometimes we cry sometimes we share together heartaches inside sometimes we dream together of how it will be when we all get together god's family the greatest thing shame that i can know today is that my family is going to heaven side by side with his disciples in that familiar meeting place call the upper room having walked side by side with them for three years he had given them many assurances but that night knowing that their hearts were troubled knowing that they were facing things in life knowing that father's day 2019 on june the 16th knowing that you have things that you are up against he gave them a promise concerning his family and their eternal home he said in my father's house are many mansions if it were not so i would have told you i go and prepare a place for you and i will come again and receive you unto myself that where i am you may be also why do we clap our hands when we may be in trial why do we clap our hands when our backs are against the wall why do we clap our hand when we're walking through valleys because this world isn't what it's all about time is not what it's all about i'm going to a city who's builder and maker is god i'm going to heaven thus heaven is a promised place it's a promised place for prepared people the one making this promise the promise is based on his character and the only way heaven can be heaven is because god said it and god doesn't lie if god is a liar then we're all in trouble it's impossible for god to lie the son of man should repent he has said he shall do it for him he has spoken it and it shall be done that by two immutable things in which it was impossible for god to lie we might have a strong consolation who have fled for refuge to lay hold upon the hope set before us there we have it in god's own word lay hold of the hope that is set before you heaven would you turn to somebody and say heaven i just want you to turn to him again and say heaven heaven is a promise placed it's based on the character of god and his trustworthiness and his eternal god-breathed word in my father's house are many mansions jesus said i go and i prepare it just for you not just fathers not just fathers i go it for mothers and sisters and brothers and aunts and uncles i am preparing a place for you everybody say me everybody say jesus christ has prepared a place for me i'm gonna nail that home again everybody say me everybody say heaven was made for me i thank god for the church but heaven was made for me that where i am side by side there you may be also he said i hath not seen neither ear heard neither have to enter into the heart of man the things which god hath prepared for them that love him jesus is saying i want my family called by my name that has my genes my heredity my nature my character my next of kin i want you side by side with me i want you in heaven with me now let me tell you life's not easy anybody not having any problems you don't have anything to worry about nothing at all would you raise your hand you don't have no that's what i thought so the lord knew that he was going to give us some side by side man they got this thing so there we go that come loose there we go get in this is a four-wheel drive this will climb rocks i ride with those guys and they start going through stuff i said we can't do that you can't make that and yet you get in this thing you get that you get stuck you just get a winch on it pull yourself out going to heaven there's going to be some rough places going to heaven there's going to be some rough spots but you in your side by side you're not there alone you got your wife you got your children you got your family you got your church you got your pastor we're all side by side and as long as we're side by side with each other we can climb anything we can go through anything we can go to that city who's building maker is god side by side it's for off-road they help us get through rough and bumpy terrain the devil's trying to turn all of us around just stay side by side he wants you to turn back just stay side by side he's throwing everything at you your family and everything against you just stay side by side you can go through anything you can accomplish anything you can do anything i didn't enjoy riding that by myself i wouldn't rode with him before i loved it when mickey was with me the only sad thing is is when mickey after the first year we've ridden now for with her for about four or five years is now she drives in i rise and those of you that don't know my nature i was not made to sit on this side of a car or a four-wheeler and i look at her and to save a divorce i let her drive i would like to stay pastor of this church so i let her drive but the beauty of it and the side by side of the togetherness that we're going to a city whose builder and maker is god that the length and the breadth and the height are equal to 1200 four lows sheriff it's 1500 miles wide 1500 miles high 1500 miles long if you were divided into streets placing each street one mile apart and each level one and a half mile higher than the other you would have more than eight million streets fifteen hundred miles long that's my father's house i don't know what your father's out but that's my father's house if you were divided into building lots 40 square lots per lot you would have enough property to accommodate all people that's ever lived that's my father's house and john said hey p.o.a i saw it and it's a holy city it's the new jerusalem it was coming down from god out of heaven prepared as a bride adorned for her husband and the nations of them shall walk in the light of it and the kings of the earth do bring their glory into it and nothing shall enter that defileth a work of abomination or maketh alive and the streets are transparent there is no rubbish and there is no litter that is my father's house you won't need a candle there you won't need a light there because the light is the son of god of the lord god giveth the light and the temperature as in eternal pleasure that's my father's house and my one job that god called me to do as anthony mangan when i chose mickey to become my bride and god gave us two great kids and their companions and jeff and michael michelle and jeff and gentry and lex my one job is to make sure that i make heaven that my mig makes heaven and michelle and jeff and even gibb make heaven and that gentry and lex make heaven i don't have any other job i'm not the pastor of this church that's my secondary job my number one job is that my wife and my kids make kevin i'm only concerned about one thing and that's that mickey and my kids make hell riding the plane friday and i set by a lady and and uh she and her husband just been married three years and she's seven months pregnant we got to talking about children and i got to tell her the night the day that mikel was born in dallas and when i saw the importance of that not being just a child that is within you ma'am but it has a soul and i began to witness and she began to cry and i began to cry mickey meter when we got off of the plane and we began to share together and i said your number one job is to make sure that your baby knows jesus she said god put me by you sir she said this is the greatest thing i've heard i said she said i wanted to be good i said i want to be good i want to be healthy but being good is not the answer being born again is the answer have your name written in the land book of life is the answer and i said well i said let's pray and i grabbed her hand and right there on that airplane we began to pray i talked in tongues over her what are you doing pastor i'm trying to get everything to go to heaven that i can i'm trying to get everything to that city that i can [Applause] oh that place called heaven it's a wall great and high it has 12 gates three direction north south east and west all four gates 12 angels there are three angels at each gate with the names of the twelve tribes of the children of israel and the wall of that city has twelve foundations and the names of those twelve apostles of the lamb and the wall of it is jasper and the city is pure gold under clear glass and the foundations are garnished with all manner of precious stones 12 gates with 12 pearls every gate was of one pearl some men said can you imagine the oyster that produced that and the street of that city was pure gold transparent glass in that great city the holy jerusalem where the lamb is the light we can only imagine our eternal home side by side with jesus christ for all of eternity pastor don't you think maybe he's talking about figurative language don't you think jesus is just trying to tell us how peaceful it's going to be i ask you then why did jesus say if it were not exactly this way i would have told you so jesus said let me tell you something it's just the way i'm saying it and if it wasn't this way i would have told you so so if you wonder why we christians are fanatic if you wonder why we clap our hands if you wonder why we stomp our feet it's because we're going to that kind of city whose builder and maker is god and the only thing i wonder about is people that don't clap their hands about that only thing i wonder about is people that don't shout about that i i i don't want to get on any of our guests that are here but you know we pentecos will someday get called out because we do all this clapping and hollering and shouting and they call it they used to call us when i was a kid around here when mother and daddy came here in the early 50s they called us holy rollers and that's still a good name as long as we fulfill it we don't need them to come to a pentecostal church and it not be a holy roller church it needs to be a shouting and praising and worshiping and magnifying the name of god church but they always say why do you pentecostal do this and why do you pentecostal do that let me ask you this when you go to church and you start thinking about a place called heaven why don't you clap your hands why don't you say amen if there's no more sorrow sickness pain or death why can't we say hallelujah thank you jesus i'm happy for the things that god has done i praise your name jesus i got to shout my soul i'm going to heaven i'm going to heaven he stopped john everybody said he stopped john twice he was writing the description of this place he wanted to insert one line for these words are truth and faithful he said me writing about heaven these words are truth and they are faithful you can count on it there is a city whose builder and maker is god there is a city called heaven wonderful place where there are no tears or heart aches or sickness or pain or death neither sorrow of crying for the former things are passed away those who live there they never grow weary they carry no burdens and they never grow old no one ever says goodbye there greg there are none of life's disappointments there there is no sin there's no one doing wrong sheriff you lost your job in heaven you will never see a cemetery we go out this afternoon to forest lawn to visit dad but there'll never be another cemetery visit there'll never be another funeral possession for no one never dies there but [Applause] brother hornsby sister hornsby little sweet jamie barney and stacy tammy's daughter and gabby's mother those are the four losses of this church just in the last two weeks and there's some heaviness in this building let me tell you there's a day coming nothing ever spalls there flowers never fade nor lose their fragrance leaves are always green there are no thunderstorms or hailstorms and thank god there's no tornadoes or hurricanes there are no germs or fevers there's no pestilence of any kind it is always light for there is no night there no clouds ever dark in the sky no harsh winds ever blow neither too hot nor too cold there's no drunkards there don't have to worry about the alcoholics you don't have to worry about the drug addicts mick there's no need for seven no more steps program we don't understand that people think the holy nose does sometimes you don't understand there's no more step program no liars no immorality no prison sheriff no jails no reformatories doors have no locks windows have no bars thieves and robbers can't enter there no pornography no lust for books i love paying taxes because i'm an american i love america but there'll be no taxes there there will never be war there'll never be bloodshed no one is handicapped terry you won't be in that wheelchair anymore no deformed or lame nor is anyone blind or deaf or can't speak all are healthy and all are strong no beggars on the street you know i'm used to seeing it when we travel used to seeing a lot now it's all over alexandria almost you know every at least four or five different street corners you go to now signs need food need change in heaven there's nothing there those of you sitting here with cancer in your body those of us with high blood pressure those of you that come through open heart surgery and heart attacks and crippling arthritis there's none of that stuff in heaven no asylums are there for none are feeble-minded there's no dementia alzheimer's there we cannot talk to one of our friends that found out in the last few weeks that she has dementia we talked to her friday it was some kind of conversation never forget the last year and a half of your mother's life the last year she didn't say a word she had alzheimer's and when she would look at us if we got a grunt we consider ourself very lucky that dirty nasty filthy disease will not be there doctors won't be there nursing homes won't be there hospitals won't be there it's a place called heaven god's eternal home the home of the redeemed of all ages the city that lieth four square fifteen hundred miles hide and wide a city of pure gold my father's house that will be so spectacular there is nothing on earth we can compare with it we will behold the king in all of his beauty and we will be like him it doesn't matter what you're going through now what you're looking at now because when the rapture takes place and the dead and cries rise first then we which alive remain meet the lord in the air everything you've gone through it's gonna be worth it all when we see jesus the lord has not told us everything there is to know about heaven but he has given us enough promises about heaven to know if there were no hell to sean if there were no devil if there were no lake of fire i would still want to live my life to go to heaven i'm not living this to miss hell i'm living this to go to heaven and see jesus i'm going to be side by side with him there in our brand new home what it's going to be like to sit down with my daddy buddy what i don't know all this story i don't know if they're there i don't know where they are it's like you've heard me say at the last four or five funerals wherever jesus is that's where they are because the bible says the moment you die you're with the lord to be absent from the body is to be present with the lord so if it's if it's out here in flatwood somewhere if jesus that's where it is i just want to be with jesus but i knew know that one day that the trumpet's going to sound and we're going to that city that for the last 30 minutes i've tried to describe to you and i'm telling you on this father's day don't get discouraged don't be despondent lift your head up make your mind up i'm going to heaven i'm going there when i die it's a real place it's a real place it's a real place if we got a revelation of it today this place would rock with the praises of god if we got a revelation of heaven his place would fall nick no one be thinking about giving up no one be thinking about throwing their hands up the greatest cause of rejoicing is not the devils are subject the greatest cause he said field don't don't be moved that you can cast the devil out that's great he said but the greatest thing gil to rejoice over is that your name has been written in the lamb's book of life that's the only thing that's important rebecca is that your name has been written in the lamb's book of life you will have disappointment it'll be rough terrain but we're side by side and we can get through anything so i'm going to heaven come on mick you going to heaven with me yep [Applause] right there huh yeah that's right see you want to drive it boy that's right see that's where it is you saw what's true didn't you she's not used to sitting over there jen lex you can stand gent jump up in there oh lord there you go my granddaughter we made it yep my grandson [Applause] get up there with jen uncle jen okay well it wouldn't be heaven it's going to be hard this is going to be a challenge it's going to be hard for me to do this but it wouldn't be heaven if i didn't have my mama let's stand together this is it this is all that matters minus jeff and mikel in my side by side with my wife my kids my grandkids my mama my daddy's already there nothing pleases me more on father's day is to know my family is saved and on this father's day going to heaven side by side me and mick 47 get up in there meg you can't drive that thing there i'll tell you folks if that thing would crank she could drive that thing she's unbelievable but there's nothing else that matters i pastor the greatest church in the world but that doesn't matter the only thing that matters is that right there and to all of you fathers and to you single mothers that are the mother and the father of your home today i want you to get your family by the hand in the balcony it's just a quarter till i want you to get them by the hand and i want you to look them in the eye and say come on and go with me we're going to heaven together we're going side by side come on bring bring your family get as close as you can get we're going to heaven together this is
