morning god has been better than good to me and when i think of the goodness of jesus and all that he's done for me my soul cries out hallelujah [Applause] i would like for you from the depths of your soul and with a handcraft give god a great praise right now let it just bring up to this congregation i believe in god for a great day today i i'm believing god for a great outpouring today i'm believing god's going to heal people in this place today in a season of so many goodbyes it pains me to bring you and yet again the news of another great loss it's with a broken heart that i confirmed this morning that at 12 29 our sweet pam know when to be with jesus even though just a few short days ago we realized that without a miracle we were going to lose her mick and i and our family along with this amazing poa staff are still in shock with the suddenness of her illness and passing if ever the words good and faithful servant could be used to actually describe someone it would be now for pam palm was a selfless servant all i've ever known her to do is serve in the kingdom of god because of the times messiah seven and just the everyday work here at poa will never be the same without pam so please keep her family and also sister tiny in your prayers her homegoing service will be this coming thursday sometime in the afternoon or evening here at the church that she loves so deeply and we give great honor to pam today but when david's baby died the bible said he quit weeping and he arose and he worshipped the lord so one of the greatest things you can do for pastor this morning and one of the greatest things you can do for this church this morning to one another is let's rise and let's worship the lord like we've never worshipped the lord [Applause] let's give praise to him like we've never praised him this morning [Applause] so we're going to go to the lord in prayer god answers prayer god heals cancer i'm not going to let the devil come here to intimidate me today god heals cancer let's remember corn doyle and lucille mcgraw and let's remember the families with loss let's remember pam knows family and rodney you're here i want you to step up rodney lost his father i'll be speaking at that funeral tuesday night and i know his heart is heavy here let's remember the family of jeff bennett says to lorraine bennett i will be preaching his funeral here at the church wednesday and let's remember the family of tammy austin i will be preaching her funeral here at the church friday so let's remember all of our families that have lost let's believe that healing is going to come and that god is going to strengthen them i know we're still not kind for maybe touching one another but if your family's beside you i think there's power in uniting together if it's someone that you have been with and been touching or holding hands with would you grab that person by the hand and would you raise them toward heaven and right now could we plead the blood and could welcome to sunday morning with the pentecostals where god's spirit is here where god is going to do great things welcome to church this morning folks when you pray remember central louisiana it's not just poa central louisiana is inundated with covid right now and we need to pray the prayer of faith that we can break that in jesus name amen our ushers are coming and we're going to receive our sunday morning tithes and offerings what an opportunity to give to our online church and those of you that join us last sunday of course was labor day and a lot of people gone and this would be our support our missionaries and give them my tithes and offerings i consider that a great privilege amen so give as the lord has blessed you don't forget to give that 10 to him but give your offerings of i thank god for that that's our opportunity to give to missions and he's going to be ministering in the nine o'clock and eleven o'clock and your special giving will be used to spread the gospel around the world all announcements can be found on social media church email and on our webpage we are doing our best to get away from pulpit announcements doesn't that make you happy we're going to try to get to where we can do it by communicating and by giving you things when you walk through the door that's very important i want to make a significant announcement and of course all of this is hinging on kovid we don't know what covet is going to do uh beginning the first of the year if kovid has calmed down the majority of this church has been asking pastor when can we get back go well that's okay i heard a clap there so until we can figure out how to get back to sunday school now with the nominal church it's they have where they can operate there but we have moves of god and it's hard to do a nine o'clock service have a move of god and somebody run to a sunday school class leave the also until we can figure that out at the beginning of year this announcement is only with how covet is going but at the beginning of the year if covid goes down and we begin to see where we can gather together we're going to go back on sunday morning to sunday school from 9 to 9 45 and we're going to do worship service from 10 until we get [Music] done and i think that's pretty overwhelming and that's the way it has been with those of you that's been bringing your concerns that love sunday school so wednesday night it's going to be great we will be doing things we'll be bringing the adult classes in here and i will be preaching or one of the pastors or mother will be speaking on wednesday night and we're going to go back on wednesday night with music just complete worship service and come in here worship and pray and worship god it seems like you like that we're going to come on wednesday night and praise god i want the devil to know we're going to do some praising and words have been in this church magnifying his name so i'm excited about that now all of that everybody say all of that is contingent on where we are with covet i would nearly about think about bringing this church together because we will do it on one sunday and that will be installation when i moved to bishop and pastor gentry has moved in as senior pastor that will be on october the 31st i hope all of you are planning on being here it's going to be a very important day to pastor number one but i am moving to bishop that's quite a role and i consider that quite an honor and then of course installing we will be installing pastor gentry and mike williams will be with us so we've got some exciting things i'm praying against covet every day i'm smiting it most of the deaths that we have had that we will be dealing with the four funerals that one i will be participating in with rodney monk's father tuesday night the other three i am preaching i am believing that we can smite this covet and get the victory over in the name of jesus amen and pastor gentry we're praying for you this morning buddy we believe in god's gonna anoint you to preach this morning would you get on your feet and would you help me praise god and give glory and honor to the king of kings of the lord of lords for the things have your way let your spirit move as it will heal and deliver and strengthen and restore and save today in the name of jesus somebody just saying in the name of jesus in the name of jesus hallelujah patients [Music] me [Music] nobody else but [Music] oh yesterday is [Music] i think it would be proper today if every one of us just took a moment and looked right into our hearts and said god what we need is revival right here somebody say i need revival i need revival in these days of so much despair and struggle and hurt and pain god what i need is a fresh glimpse of your glory what i need is a fresh realization of who you are for me and for every one of us why don't we just take a second right now we're gonna move and hear the word of the lord but before we do why don't we open our hearts and lift up our hands and say okay god here it [Music] is lord revive us lord jesus [Music] is me [Music] [Applause] hallelujah [Music] [Music] have your way lord have your way along [Music] [Applause] holy spirit [Music] holy spirit [Music] uh [Music] um [Applause] reveal yourself to us today reveal yourself to us today show us your power show us your glory we want to see the supernatural i hope that i and i hope that we have created an atmosphere where god feels comfortable revealing himself here today because i believe he will i believe somebody's body can be healed and somebody's mind can be renewed and transformed and changed i believe chains of bondage can fall off of somebody right now by the power of god almighty reveal yourself today in this house i remove myself i get myself out of the way we get out of the way and we say have your way today take your place king of kings and lord of lords reveal your mighty power thank you worship team for leading us to the throne room today for ushering in a powerful presence of god thank you for your sacrifice [Music] praise god praise god [Music] i want to quickly say before i dive into the word this morning i do feel like god has given me a word for today for this weekend to all of our grandparents in the house happy grandparents day lane happy grandparents day you're my last one left i love you very much and i hope you out live all of us but happy grandparents day to all of our grandparents feel like the lord's given me a word and i'm excited to dive in what i feel the lord has given me so if you don't mind can you please be seated and we'll dive in this weekend we remembered a tragedy that took place 20 years ago when our nation was struck by terror the world trade center the pentagon flight 93 we remember those that lost their lives and we remember their families we keep their families in our prayer day today we honor everybody that died that day especially the first responders that gave of themselves and gave their lives trying to rescue and trying to save other people it's one of those days that is forever etched in our memories if your memories had formed by 2001 if you can remember if your mind had the capability to start remembering things i would gather that 100 of this room remembers where you were when you first heard the news of what was taking place in new york city on september the 11th i remember where i was 15 year old sophomore at menard high school in history class of all classes young man comes running in runs down the hall opens the door and says turn on the tv our towers have been attacked i'll never forget that moment that is forever etched in my memory that moment of his panic coming in turning on the tv in the classroom and seeing both twin towers on fire i'll never forget watching as those towers collapsed and when those towers collapse the pain and the hurt and the agony that so many people must have felt at that moment where the twin towers fell that day became known as ground zero it was a term that became synonymous with september the 11th in fact in 2011 mayor bloomberg made a plea to new york city and to the world to please quit calling the site of the world trade center ground zero and to once again begin to call it either the world trade center or the september the 11th national memorial but as much as he please and as much as he would ask people still would call it ground zero i've had the opportunity to go there i've had the honor to go to the national memorial for september the 11th it's incredible it's moving to to see all the lives that were lost and the thing that's most i guess not impressive isn't the right word but overtakes you is how small of an area it really is these big buildings that we saw on tv that came crashing down but yet the footprint of what took place that day happened in just such a very small confined area and it became known and is still known today as ground zero that day summarized the whole day because even when we think back of flight united three and when we think back of what took place at the pentagon and i remember those pictures as well i remember the pictures of flight 93 in that pennsylvania field but when somebody mentioned september the 11th our minds immediately go to those towers that are on fire because it was ground zero it's where it all began it's where it all culminated and i'm certainly not trying to diminish 9 11. that day that was full of traumatic pain blood sweat tears agony and yes death but the fact is there is ground zeroes that happen all over the world every single day no they're not always on the same scale as a terror attack against a country but there is pain there is hurt and there is tragedy every single day around the world someone crosses the yellow line a family member has taken ground zero someone you thought would be here forever loses their life to a virus ground zero someone is diagnosed with a terminal disease ground zero a marriage gives way to divorce ground zero houses are broken into people are murdered lives are shattered every single day every day people must abruptly face an uncertain future every day tragedy touches somebody's life therefore any place anywhere at any time can be somebody's ground zero in luke chapter 13 there's a story that we don't talk about very often but it's definitely a ground zero experience verses one through five that were present at that season some that told him of the galileans whose blood pilate had mingled with their sacrifices jesus answered said unto them suppose ye that these galileans were sinners above all galileans because they suffered such things i tell you no but except you repent ye likewise shall perish or those 18 upon whom the tower of siloam fell and slew them think ye that they were sinners above all men that dwelt in jerusalem i tell you no but except you repent you shall likewise perish we often time make the mistake all of us do this you're not alone in doing this we make the mistake of thinking because we serve god and because we do our very best to be good people that bad things just won't happen to us but that's not the way god operates look at what we just talked about in luke chapter 13 jesus was told that people were sacrificing people were at a house of worship worshiping god and tragedy strikes that's why there's precedent we hear things of gun shootings at churches and people say all the time how can that happen how can god allow that to happen that's been taking place for a long time you look in luke chapter 13 these people are worshiping they're sacrificing god they're at the house of worship a place where you would expect to be safe and yet tragedy strikes when you would least expect it jesus goes on to ask do you think that these galileans were chief sinners among galileans i tell you no they weren't bad things happened to good people he goes on to say what about the 18 people who were minding their own business and a tower falls on them and they lose their life what about those 18 people in jerusalem jesus asked were they the chiefest sinners in jerusalem i tell you no bad things happen to good people this story brings about two glaring facts that we have to come to realization with and that is that bad things happen to good people number one and number two life is so uncertain twin towers fall stock markets crash criminals attack children rebel bodies are broken relationships falter health declines these types of ground zeroes bring us to a place where we see just how little we're really in control we're confronted with acts of violence we're impacted by global pandemics we feel the trauma of ice storms floods tornadoes hurricanes we have absolutely no idea the curveballs that life may throw at us none of us in here can say with any true certainty where we will be in 15 or 20 years we don't know if we'll be liked or disliked we don't know if we'll be prosperous or poor we don't know if we'll be honored or despised we don't know if we're going to have a lot of friends or if we'll just have one friend even the world itself faces uncertain days and it always has which makes it no surprise that this most of this book was written in times of crisis written in the face of adversity because whether we like it or not life is full of uncertainty so why is there uncertainty why do bad things happen to good people it's one of the most talked about and one of the most difficult questions that's ever been asked in all of theology how can a loving god allow his most beloved to go through so much pain and hurt i believe the simplest answer is this god is sovereign which means he either has allowed or get this has been the direct cause of all of my blessing or all of my distress he knows what's best for each and every one of us even if the best hurts even if the best is painful even if the best is traumatic god is sovereign and he knows what's best for us [Applause] we in this humanly form are not eternal we're not infinite we're not omniscient we can't expect to fully understand god's purpose and his ways the book of job deals with this very issue clearly god allows bad things to happen to good people verse 1 of chapter 1 says that job was a perfect man a righteous man and things that happened to him are almost beyond belief god allowed satan to do everything he wanted to do to job except kill him and you better believe when given the opportunity satan did his worst i'm not trying to scare anybody here today but evil is real when we look back at luke chapter 13 in that verse talking about the bloodshed of people that we're trying to sacrifice it was a blood thirsty man that caused them to lose their life i'm not trying to scare you i'm just being honest with you the aftermath of hurricane ida and laura were devastating and while i can't call that storm itself evil it's the result of sin which is evil the challenge of a health scare like cancer i maybe can't look at those cells that have gone rogue in your body and say they are evil but the reason those cells even exist even the reason that disease even exists is because of the evil of sin we have tragedies like 9 11 due to people's choices that brought pain to so many people the evil of sin heinous acts like that which we witnessed three weeks ago in afghanistan remind us of the reality of evil all of us feel the effects of sin in one way or the other sometimes it's our own personal sin other times it's the sin of others you see we live in a fallen world ladies and gentlemen and we experience the ramifications of the fall of man one of the effects that we have to feel in this world because of sin is injustices and seemingly senseless suffering because of the fall of man because sin entered the world and satan is daily using evil to do his very best to get us to doubt that god is in complete control he did everything he could to job for one reason to get him to curse god to get him to turn his back on god to get him to a place where he would say god i thought you were in control of my life that's where he was trying to get job and that's where he's trying to get all of us he's going to use every ounce of evil every circumstance he can every sickness that he can every situation that he can every trick of the mind that he can he's going to do everything in his power he's going to use as much evil as he can to get the people of god to begin to doubt that our god is still in complete control of the affairs of man [Applause] i'm here this morning on this sunday morning to remind each and every one of us that just as job said though he slayed me yet will i trust in him because my god is still in complete control the lord gives and the lord taketh away blessed be the name of the lord i'm sorry for what you've had to face over the last couple of years i'm sorry for the trauma that has entered your life i'm so sorry for the great people of this church that we have lost over the last two years to disease and viruses and sickness and tragedies i'm sorry for all of those things but my god is still in complete control i'm sorry for what we are facing in society today i'm sorry that evil persists in the world i'm sorry that terror would like to come against our country would love to come against our church but god is still in control [Applause] just like us job did not understand why he was facing the things that he was facing but he knew god was good and therefore he continued to trust him paul writes to the church in rome in 12 21 be not overcome of evil but overcome evil with good well what is good i'll tell you what good is matthew 19 17 and he said unto them why call us me thou good there is but one good and that is good and that is god luke 18 says it as well verse 19 jesus said unto them why call us thou me good none is good save one and that is god that's what goodness is you want to know what good is it's god so if i'm to overcome evil with good i'm going to overcome evil with god by my side you and i are called to overcome evil with that which is good and that which is good is god almighty we're going to overcome evil by putting our faith in god by putting our trust in god because he is the only one that is good and he will see us through every trial he will see us through every tribulation he will see us through every circumstance he will see us through every loss he will see us through every pandemic he will see us through every tragedy he will see us through every heartbreak he will see us through every pain in our life why because he is good and i'm going to overcome the evil of this world by the goodness of god [Applause] we're going to overcome evil ladies and gentlemen we're going to get through this uncertain life this difficult life we're going to get through it but we better be depending on that which is good and that is god psalms 46 1-7 declares of that good god god is our refuge and strength why don't we read it together instead of me just reading it from my scriptures let's read one through seven together god is our refuge and our strength a very present help in time of trouble therefore we will not fear [Music] through the waters though the waters are troubled though the mountains shake though there's difficulty though there's trouble though we're facing things we don't understand though there's diseases running rampant though there's covey that's infested the world the mountains are shaken the water is roaring in the midst of all of that god is my refuge god is my strength he's my help in time of trouble let's keep reading there is a river the streams whereof shall make glad the city of god the holy place of the tabernacles of the most high god is in the midst of her she shall not be moved god shall help her and that right early the heathen raged the kingdoms were moved he uttered his voice and the earth melted the lord of hosts is with us the god of jacob is our refuge [Applause] he's my refuge he's with me he's my strength so in the midst of all this evil in the midst of all of these ground zero situations where tragedy can come against us where pain comes against us each and every day it's happening around the world there's only one way we can get through these ground zero situations and that's through the goodness of god [Applause] i know we don't understand everything we're human we all have questions paul wrote about that in first corinthians he's speaking of a perfect time that is to come and when that perfect time comes first corinthians 13 12 for now we see through a glass darkly but then face to face now i know in part but then shall i know even as also i am known i love the nlt's version of how that is is how that is said now we see things imperfectly like puzzling reflections in a mirror but there's coming a day when we will see everything with perfect clarity all that i know now is partial and incomplete but there's coming a day when i will know everything completely just as god knows me completely we don't see things clearly right now we're looking through a glass darkly we don't understand it all but god does and one day he'll sit down with us and explain everything one day he's going to sit each and every one of us down and he's going to say this situation that situation let me see let me show you where that helped you let me show you where that benefited you let me show you where that forced you to trust me let me show you how that brought you to a place where you had to rely on me you had to let go of everything else the world was trying to offer you and it was forced you to rely on me one day he's going to show it all to us i know we want answers now but god knows what's best for each and every one of us one day we'll see those things clearly just as that old song we used to sing one day we'll understand it better by and by he doesn't offer us understanding on this earth in the here and now he doesn't offer us understanding and he doesn't offer us answers to every question he offers us something greater than that hope paul wrote to the church in rome who were doing their very best to build a work yet they were facing tremendous persecution in the midst of trying to do good in the midst of trying to build a church they're facing difficult situations facing evil each and every day and here's what he tells them in 8-24 for we're going to be saved by hope but hope that is not seen is not hope but hope that is seen is not hope for what a man seeth what does he yet hope for i know that's what makes it difficult ladies and gentlemen i'm not crazy i'm human too i'm fighting the same things you're fighting i know that's what makes it difficult we can see the evil we can see the chaos we can see the turmoil we feel the effects of it physically emotionally spiritually financially we feel the effects that evil brings in our life and i i know that's hard to understand we see the tragedy we see the pain we see the hurt so it's very very hard for us to see what god is doing in the midst of all of it it's hard for us to understand that even when we don't see it he's working and even when we don't feel it he's working so that's why i encourage you this morning as paul was writing to the church in rome keep hope alive keep your hope alive [Applause] if you keep your hope alive that's where your salvation is going to come from because hope that is seen is not hope at all we've got to put our hope in jesus and we can't see that we've got to put our hope in god and that's something that really isn't tangible for us but it's our hope that unlocks our faith which unlocks the supernatural of the almighty god on our behalf because faith is the substance of things hoped for so keep your hope alive today i know you feel the evil i know you feel the depression i know you can even see the evil the chaos the turmoil the pain and the hurt and it's so easy it's much easier to gravitate towards that because it's tangible for us it's easier for us to gravitate to the pain and the hurt the tragedy the chaos because it's tangible it's much harder to gravitate towards that hope but when we gravitate towards hope and when we keep hope alive in our lives that's going to ignite our faith and when our faith is ignited the supernatural power of god is going to manifest itself on our behalf and we're going to see ourselves overcome situations we're going to see ourselves have our bodies renewed and transformed and miracles take place because we're going to keep our hope alive and we're going to see supernatural faith released on our behalf i encourage us today keep hope alive when we keep our hope alive our faith is going to be increased and when our faith is increased we'll find ourselves seven verses later in romans 8 and 31 what shall we say then to these things if god before us who can be against us paul writes to that church and roll keep your hope alive because your hope is eventually going to manifest yourself to faith and when your faith is released you'll begin to say things like if god is for us who can be against us if god is for us pandemics can come chaos can come terror can come diseases can spread but if god be for us who can be against us that's the power of keeping hope alive god is for you today your friends maybe have forgotten you your family maybe has forgotten you the enemy may feel like it has the upper hand over you today but i've come to remind all of us god is for us in the midst of our enemy feeling like they have the upper hand god is for us therefore if god is for us keep hope alive let your faith be ignited because god is for us if we
