about terms and conditions as well as other methods of entry it's been a while we came to asakusa and asakusa is ready for new year i know i'm so happy i didn't know the decorate is so early but it's so beautiful it's very japanese it's very traditional festive at the same time but the good thing is it's not super crowded because when you come during the new year's it's so crowded it's hard to appreciate the decorations i also noticed that there are some shops that have changed most likely due to the you know what uh some shops couldn't survive but in their place there are some new shops which is a good thing all right guys first stop is always this place for us it's a place called azuma and they specialize in these things called kibidango they are traditional small little mochi on sticks and it is delicious by the way this place is located on nakami sedori this is the shopping street that leads from kaminarimonge all the way to sensoji temple the oldest temple in the kanto area nakamisodori dates back to the 17th century most shops in this arcade is run by the same families for several generations and of course some of them are brand new it's always interesting and only during the colder months you can get amazake which is a sweetened non-alcoholic rice based beverage that is very very popular among japanese people it's also healthy and it's delicious ah it's good so good it's so warming and so comforting and the kibidango whenever visitors come here this is the first place that we take them you just have to be careful not to get the the soybean powder all over your clothes so good kind of reminds me of peanut butter but better in my opinion [Music] is really good and take its job it's a little bit firmer than regular dango i think but the texture is good for me i'm very happy i can enjoy this flavor again so next winter special is moonjam from tokyo kamiri okoshi hong pong you can easily find this shop just left side of kaminarimum and look this pink one they have regular moon jam and this one is mentaiko flava so it's kara is a little bit pink main taiko kara and this one is the staff recommendation do you want to see inside okay a little bit slowly type okonomiyaki but it's very popular nine i said moonjam is a little bit slurry but this one is not so easy to eat and that is mentaiko whoever is spirit top and at a meat flavor combined nicely pork ginger and mentai cup label is seamoth in soy sauce soy sauce based munja is usually very liquidy kind of like a thick liquid and you eat it with like a tiny little shovel and you kind of scoop it into your mouth no matter how long you cook it it doesn't harden but you know it's a tokyo specialty that's not hmm there's some ginger flavor in there which is nice definitely has a kick because of the mint taiko which is spicy fish raw super flavorful the bun is really soft and fluffy this is a really good light meal or well in our case a little snack so the next place is kielsumiseka this is one of the newer shops that just opened in this area and this asakusa is very famous for something called okoshi basically there are japanese rice puffs but this is a modern sort of fusion version of the traditional okoshi check this out this is something called scotchi and this is the green tea uh flavor they also have original flavor which we did sample kind of tasted like a caramel was delicious they also have milk flavor and this they also have these some lighter ones that kind of remind me of popcorn but they're actually made of rice all right let's give it a try green tea it's like you know first of all the texture is so different from the traditional okoshi there's some nuts in it the matcha flavor the green tea flavor is really really good it's so good you guys know how critical i am when it comes to tea nice green tea flavor earthy flavor as well as a little bit of bitterness but also sweet so it kind of counter balances the bitterness of the tea and once again the texture is so beautiful i'm not sure which one i like more this one or the caramel one i think i like both equally so good i think we gotta pick up some more because this is really good and this makes a perfect gift i think check it out guys really good stuff so next we came here to asakusa taisho lomankam and we found this beautiful beautiful grape this shop just opened this september and taisho means the name of era before so about 100 years ago in japanese history that become very modernized era i really amazed this grape it's creep and it brings a pre-ala mode and i can hold like this i'm very excited so itadakimasu from the center part um it's a thicker type of pudding custard it's thick a beautiful egg flavor custardy flavor pudding oh i love this and the caramel flavor is also good it has a little bit bitterness and depth fruit and cream oh i don't want to break this wow this pudding is like cream cheese really thick the tartness of this kiwi and this green sweetness of pudding matches so nicely okay i want to bite this clay part is it possible salt the beautiful texture you know pudding aloe mold is a very retro dessert i used to eat it when i was a kid all the time in japan of course and then it went out of style you didn't see them too much and now they're actually making a comeback basically putting on a mode is a japanese pudding or custard flan and it's decorated with various fruits that's putting alamo you never see ice cream in it i know it's called alamo in the u.s i think alamo means with ice cream in japan it doesn't mean that so i'm gonna try the the pudding part first and like satoshi said it's super creamy and thick look at that [Music] yeah like i said this type of pudding is making a comeback it's firmer than the modern more creamy puddings this is more rich than soft and creamy but it's delicious and then i always have a difficult time eating things like this and that look too beautiful to eat i don't know where to start that's the mandarin orange that used to be my favorite fruit on pudding a la mode oh delicious delicious canned mandarin orange taste of childhood and these sliced apples also like kind of blast from the past i feel like i'm a child again [Music] apples are actually really nice it's apple seasoning right now in japan ah my goodness i don't know how to eat this okay i'm gonna try not to break it oh my gosh look at my tiny little vital toe i took a tiny little bit of the grape but the grape is nice i just wish there was an easier way to eat this banana banana and cream so good together the flag is in my way i gotta take a proper bite hmm that caramel flavor is nice huh hmm oh yeah i'm having a difficult time eating this nevertheless it's it's it's delicious i got a really small mouth compared to satoshi key is to eating all the toppings first and now i can eat this crepe part oishi it's light refreshing type of crepe i think it's not too heavy just right i can eat two two discrepants two two scrapes in one sitting you know we really enjoyed that crepe we've had the crepes in harajuku we're not like huge fans of those because they're really big and they're usually you know chocolate i mean it tastes you know like something you you always eat normally and it's just they're just too big but the crepes here were really really nice and like satoshi said they were refreshing light for some reason and the texture of the crepe itself was kind of like mochi mochi it was it was like a japanese crepe like a half mochi crepe or something anyway it was delicious very very delicious so this is one of the side streets from the nakamise dori and i like this street because of all the little characters that decorate the entire street if you look up you see a samurai on the roof you see one in front of you i think it's a pretty cool street i love it you know there are many things you should try one things that we recommend you try is the ninoyaki nigeki there are a few shops specializing in this asakusa specialty we made a video already on that so check out one of our older asakusa videos to see what else you can enjoy here so that's the gate leading to sensoji temple but look i know nothing to do with street food i guess it could be considered a street food but look at this what is this what kind of fruits are these some kind of citrus fruit it's already in december but in this garden still autumn leaves are beautiful that's a ginko tree and momiji three over there the red one it's on this stream it's so beautiful hmm the red and yellow combination ginkgo tree and momiji tree looks beautiful behind sensoji there is an amusement park called hanayaski the oldest amusement park in tokyo along the park there is a street called hanayaki dori and you can find a hamburger shop called domidomu baga yes dom dombaga is here baga is very nostalgic for me dongdam paga used to be a very big chain and they had a shop in yamagata prefecture yes in yamato station so i sometimes went to the baga shop and today we are eating croquet baga using wagyu japanese beef yes this is it and you can get this only here look crockett lots of shredded cabbage and the pants and on top of buns and they are using sesame seeds itadakimasu the crooked outside is very successful and buns are fluffy and of course shredded cabbage has nice texture minty katsu like juicy meat forever of course it's croquette like i enjoy the potato flavor but the combination of potato and the beef flavor it's really good and then maybe they are using so much beef inside so i can enjoy the beef flavor so there are two items here that are exclusive to the asakusa shop one is the teriyaki burger which can also only get here but of course this is the other one hmm [Music] the outside is nice letting crispy inside is creamy actually and the sauce is delicious because tonkatsu sauce is also creamy or is that mayo sorry that's mayo i think but the crockett itself is really really flavorful so next up nakamise street nakamise dori we found a very interesting shop the shop name is kente's kitchen and the product name is senkara what is zenkara you know karage japanese fried chicken regularly they use for the butter flour but this shop uses rice cracker yes crushed rice cracker they crush rice cracker into like powder and using this for this butter it's interesting idea and it's very cute outside yeah and i understand it's like a sember crush um [Music] it's very sucky top yeah i love sambar um yes this butter texture is like sambar really saksagoto the chicken meat is really juicy i love that there's so much umami flavor of chicken you can see the pieces of rice crackers some of the finely crushed rice cracker as well as some bigger pieces of rice crackers wow wow so crispy and you get the flavor of the the rice crackers as well it's rice crackers um grilled with soy sauce so you do have a little bit of soy sauce taste too so lots of umami inside the rice cracker coating and you know the inside is like satoshi says super juicy not dry at all whatsoever oh good hmm i'd like another one please the last place is this place called italiano gelato and they specialize in italian-style gelatos but they have a lot of flavors that are very japanese and this place is located in kanondori it's a shotengai that's parallel to nakamise dori we both got the small size can choose up to two flavors i got the kabocha pumpkin and amazake amazaki is actually the first thing that we had on the start of this video and this is enchilada form i'm going to try the kabucha pumpkin first because i love kabucha pumpkin hmm first of all can i say i don't know why we chose to eat gelato because it's actually cold but it's you know it appealed to me because i really wanted to try the kabocha pumpkin and the almost amazake gelato kombucha pumpkin is a little bit subtle though it tastes more like sweet potato to me i do wish it had a stronger kombucha flavor not bad though okay i'm going to try the amazaket really looking forward to almost like a gelato okay that's a winner baby that is good that tastes exactly like almost like it in fact it actually tastes like sake like you know not not the sweet one oh it's good oh wow i think next time i'm just going to get the whole thing amazake flavor they also has a couple of really interesting ones like black sesame they had um matcha of course and they also had hojicha or roasted tea but i think if you like sake you gotta get this one the hamasaki flavor yum yum yum mine is also unique one the red part is popular it's kasi soup but this white butt is tofu tofu yes tofu becomes gelato so first i eat the beautiful color texture is like sorbet sour and sweet i like this sour and sweet flavor this is tofu it's like a cream oh i can't imagine this texture is tofu oh but it's close to tofu not only soy milk it's close to tofu flavor oh it's interesting i don't know tofu and kashi's flavor matches or not but i want to try whoever is subtle so when i eat both when i eat both flavor together the class is forever warm so i recommend to eat tofu as it is like this i really want to try amazake gelato it's so unique wow it's a really amazing surprise surprise surprise yeah if you like amazake this is nice you know i was really surprised at how many new shops opened up that's right you know i knew there were many shops but not this many unfortunately though there was one shop that i wanted to go to it was the place that sold uh sake ice cream in fact they are pretty new shop that open during this you know what but they're not permanently closed yeah it's sad it's really sad yeah but um everything we tried today as always was delicious um i was impressed with um a lot of them what do you have any favorites the senkara was interesting yeah oh it's really pretty and also it's tasty yeah also very instagram-worthy yeah very beautiful i love that concept of the shop me too me too but you know every time i come to asakusa i always am reminded of how interesting this place is i always enjoy my time here i like the old time atmosphere of the place a lot of them well established shops i like the architecture i just like the whole vibe everyone's having a good time here and i'm glad the people number of people are increasing yeah that's that's that's a good thing so anyway we really hope
