hi guys welcome back hope you guys are having a great day wherever you are today we are here back in tsukiji the place where the former fish market used to be the outer market where all the street food and the sushi restaurants are are still here uh when was the last time we were here i think it's three years ago three years ago right maybe a really long time yeah so we haven't been back here since then and of course you know since the pandemic but hopefully we can revisit some of our favorite spots and also discover some new places as well [Music] this video is sponsored by skillshare an online learning community with literally thousands of classes for everyone you can learn new skills develop existing ones or just get lost in creativity earlier this year i took a course on creative drawing and it really helped me get through some tough times recently i've been learning about how to uplift your spirit and space with plants you guys know satoshi loves his plants me on the other hand not so much however this course kind of changed all that christopher the instructor who also calls himself the plant queen taught me that anyone could learn to love plants and as a result the area around my workspace sort of has become my little oasis i personally use and enjoy skillshare myself which is why we're happy to be partnering with them so the first 1000 people who click on the link in the description below this video will get a free trial of skillshare premium membership and it's only around ten dollars a month after that definitely check them out i'm pretty confident you'll enjoy the experience so fast very popular egg omelette shop look at this beautiful and this size is pretty big pretty large i'm very very looking forward to eat this one oh by the way by the way this is a comrades the price is only 100 yen of this size it's pretty reasonable the texture is perfect soft smooth fluffy tasty flavor sweetness [Music] oh oh it's sweet it's a it's a sweet type of japanese omelette you know there's two types here in japan tamagoyaki it can be either sweet or it could be savory that's the one with the dashi this one's definitely on the sweeter side reminds me of my mother's tamagoyaki which is why this makes me so happy and it's the perfect start to the morning hmm do you lose us all right guys so we're here at this place called denis shokut and they specialize in grilled barbecue seafood i got my uh one of my favorites and this is the grilled unagi 500 yen actually that's not bad if it's good [Music] it's actually pretty good i was a little bit afraid because um you know we were so spoiled by very high-end unagi that we had in nihombashi went to two different high-end places this is actually pretty good the unagi sauce is spot on and the eel itself is very very tender like melt in your mouth tender and it's fatty but that's the way it's supposed to be unagi i mean dry unagi is like terrible oh yeah oh i could eat like 10 of these oh so good i'm a huge scale of romanian it's just 500 yen it's just grilled freshly ground in front of us it's steaming hot beautiful i love this texture it's soft suit can you understand soy sauce vegeta and the seafood forever combined nice can i can i drink it can i sip this [Music] but it's good so obviously this place isn't as crowded as it used to be however because there are less people i do notice that in addition to street food and you know uh fresh tuna and seafood they do sell a lot of things here some things are catching my attention you know i'm looking for a teapot right now and i found one that that looks pretty nice um there was a bakery and um a knife shop a whole bunch of stuff here this is fun you could literally spend the entire day here shopping [Music] [Applause] [Music] next place is tomboya this is located on the outside of the market and this place has been making these maguro or tuna steaks since 2008 it's the first time we've seen this but uh that makes sense because we haven't been here in three years okay so check it out guys these are this is the tuna on skewer it's 500 yen they look thick and meaty he grilled it right in front of us we put a little bit of black pepper and lemon juice as the man suggested and yeah get into it thank you whoa wow that's like getting steak it's like eating a piece of steak that's super tender oh wow the fish is so flaky this is cooked with garlic and soy sauce but adding that lemon that little bit of acidity just makes it so good the thicker is like meat and the soy sauce garlic pepper and combines pepper and lemon it's super good [Music] outside it's torched and nicely grilled all the sketchy market is no longer here it moved to toyosu market there were nothing in the old kitchen market but many restaurants and shops are still in the tsukiji altar market this shop is ajino hamato and we bought one is this one this is a corn the grilled corn but it's not just corn look outside these corn caramels inside is fish cake fish cake and corn corners are blended and grilled it has a sweetness of corn and the umami of fish cake it's combined nicely tasty very tasty so this is one of those places where we're revisiting we actually came here on our previous video we loved that corn fish cake it was so good and we asked the guy what's their second most popular item and he said it's this one it's the maguro menchikatsu which means tuna menchikatsu so it's a ground of tuna and it's breaded and it has been deep fried and he poured some tonkata sauce over it but it's warm and it's hot and it smells amazing thank you most oh wait a minute i take one more bite [Music] super crispy on the other side so sakuto hmm and you know there's a totally different texture from the beef version of minchikatsu because it's fish and because this shop specializes in fish cake i think you're using more of like a fish paste because it has that chewy texture of kamaboko or fish cake but very good flavor it's not fishy at all whatsoever i think they're mixing some kind of seasonings into the fish paste as well outside is super crispy inside is soft and a little bit chewy good flavor oh i like this one as well really good stuff so we're here at this place called madukita and we're here to eat some seafood rice bows um i got something called this is 2 000 yen they have a variety of rice balls here i personally don't eat sea urchin so i got them all without this earring and this is what it looks like guys so there's a whole bunch of ingredients in here there's um minced up tuna there's tuna there's also um fish roe there's some white fish there's scallops there's uh egg omelet as well as some crab lakes here and a parallel leaf and there's sushi rice on the bottom that's a big dalapa wasabi and today they're giving some free soup crab miso soup and 2000 yen for all of this i think it's pretty worth it but we got these spatials on because um we're talking and there's people around us so good idea satoshi all right so taking us here we go look at that loose up like that so i always start off with the maguro which is the tuna and this is a red meat here we go so this is the lean part of the tuna what's that which i actually am a super big fan of light i'm a fan of the red lean meat i like that's nice and fresh surprisingly fresh you know what i want some wasabi i forgot all about my wasabi but i completely forgot what yeah there we go [Music] that's good it's pretty fresh a little bit of rice i noticed there's some uh slivers of nori as well as some sesame seeds in there i also got myself a little bit of fish raw season pretty nicely with a little bit of vinegar and sugar white fish dip into soy sauce oh that has a very interesting flavor i love ikuda or uh fish roll one of my favorite things to eat has such a beautiful texture one of the main reasons why i chose this one is because i love crab and there's two pieces of crab legs in here oh look at that this is the first time i'm eating crab this year can you believe it i hardly eat crab because they're so expensive i hope it's good that's good the crab is good guys so much sweet meat inside it's sweet that's delicious i have one more crab like here so i'm saving that for last so mine means basic kaisen but look it's not just basic it's so beautiful and they're using so many variety of ingredients fish and this is tamariki egg omelets [Music] salmon and this one is kampachi and soy sauce and eat with rice rice very very fresh tasty tsunami and increased rice a beautiful is really fresh it's right from the new market near this market it's right there so it's really fresh this one is favorite he always eats not chewy soft smooth texture which one i love shrimp it's so grumpy what i'm gonna do is um i blended the wasabi in with the soy sauce i'm gonna pour it over my rice bowl you can do it this way if you want i just find it easier to eat it this way and i forgot all about my miso soup guys the crab miso soup look like crab legs in here i think this is mostly for the broth [Music] comforting but that that that that stock very very crabby very crabby i'm gonna eat some of that tuna with ikura and the peril leaf and the scallop this is gonna go in one bite along with my rice there we go doesn't that look delicious [Music] heaven sinful heaven in the very back of this altar market there is a shrine called nami okay jinja this tsukiji area is a reclaimed land when they were building this land the construction was very hard because of the big wave after they played this god the wave becomes very cold and construction goes very smoothly it is a god protecting from disasters dessert time we are on the rooftop of the tsukiji building we bought three stuff first one is very cute i think it is called maguroyaki kind of taiyaki taiyaki snack inside the butter they are anko but this one is not regular uncle it's combined with yuzu citrus the shop is sanokia oh mo oh i thought it's like a taiyaki butter but it's not it's more or what um immediately they used citrus rubber fresh used citrus whatever came into my mouth so nicely and it matches with this uncle so good anko is a red bean paste and it combined with this usual citrus flavor and sweetness level is not super sweet overly sweet it's just right when we were buying the tamagotchi the first place i couldn't help but notice a place right next door that were selling these jumbo sized macarons the french macarons and so i had to try it out i had to try it out and they also were selling some matcha lattes so i got myself a cup of hot matcha latte this one looks really green like deep green by the way yeah the one at starbucks is it's a little bit lighter in color i think and each macaron is carefully wrapped in a box like this because as you know macarons are quite fragile this one is tibet which is green tea and oh it comes wrapped in a little plastic baggie like this i've never seen such a big macaron this is like wow look at this it's huge okay um by the way this a store specializes in butter cream and so these are filled with buttercream and they are using hokkaido butter and um they they specialize in uh jarred buttercreams and in various flavors you can take them home and uh she said you can spread it on bread crackers things like that and of course they are utilizing the buttercream in these macaron shells as well okay oh that's nice the sweetest thing we've had all day long definitely definitely um yeah the show is really nice the macaron itself is really really nice outside is crispy as you can see it's totally cracked nice and airy the buttercream is not super rich or anything it's actually quite nice now matcha flavor is definitely on the subtle side but i can taste it much a lot there oh that's nice this is unsweetened perfect with my uh sweet macaron so satoshi what was your favorite the stick tuna stick to that oh that's my favorite oh yeah that really was good i gotta say that was my favorite and i have to also say that the tamagotchi will also be one of my favorites i love sweet japanese omelette we were planning to go to the place where they have the fish burger we want to revisit that place um but we're just too full so i promise we will come back to do that one but if you missed that video because we did go to
