hello everybody welcome back to tabits today we are here in nagoya osu area today we are going to try a variety of street foods yeah and there's a lot of street food here so we cannot wait to share them with you i asked shinichi what do you want for christmas and he answered nagoya trip so today we are here at nagoya yes and you know the other reason why is because satoshi's always saying why do you like nagoya so much i mean is there anything interesting in nagoya and i'm like yeah let me show you it also is one of my favorite districts it has a history of around 400 years when the nagoya castle was built and this place has lots of mom-and-pop shots lots of quirky shops and lots and lots of street food which is why i love this place so i cannot wait to share this place with you guys now if you follow me on snichi's world my other channel you know that i've been here maybe a couple of months ago a couple months ago three months ago i don't quite remember but it is one of my favorite places and today since i had satoshi with me i thought this would be a great chance to sample even more street food definitely one of my favorite areas in nagoya city i'm so excited so this osu kannon temple originally built 1324 and relocated to this place in 1612 the town name of ozun is taken from this temple so this shotengai is actually consists of lots of shotgun guys uh this particular shot guy is called osu is that how you say it okay and then this is the first street where we're gonna walk down to find something to eat as soon as we enter neo mondori we found a very historic shop it is called aoyagi uiro willow is one of nagoya's specialty it's a sweet traditional sweet made with rice flour and sugar it's like a this one it's like looks like yokan in japanese confectionary yoga but it's different it's made with rice flour and it's steamed like pre-printed [Music] made from rice flavor but different from mochi rice cake mochi is a musty key but this one is not so sticky it's kind of like a soft type your gum texture and if you know happier in hawaii texture is like that by the way we got these from ao yaki uiro established in 1879 which makes it one of the oldest shops in this area so satoshi tried the basic one i want to try the matcha [Music] i love ubudo but i gotta say uh ao yaki uiro makes one of the best weirdos in my humble opinion i think it has superior texture superior flavor like for example i mean the matcha one it tastes like matcha you can taste the earthiness the bitterness of the matcha just try this it's really really delicious so this portion of the shotengai has a lot of used clothing stores secondhand shops and lots of untraditional established shops as well that place where we had the uiro um that's only one of two udo shops located on this street but we do recommend the one that we went to so next we found the dango shop it's called the shin sesame honte and this dango chocolate is also very historic they have more than 50 years of history and they have two types of dango this one is mitharashi and this one is kinako soybean powder flavor okay i will try me the cute five balls [Music] in the market it has a little bit of crispiness it's interesting for me um but inside it's very soft and this mitarashi sauce has a little bit of sweetness but of course it's savory good soy sauce flavor i and the dango here is very reasonable only 100 yen each okay i'm going to try the kinako one this is perfect because i usually have kinako mochi during the new year's this year i didn't well this is like perfect the dongle itself the mochi balls is soft but not too soft the kinako powder is just sweet enough delicious no wonder no wonder this place is so popular what's in there man that was good dango i actually had a bite of a satoshi shoridango so good different from mitadashi dango it's not sweet at all it's salty you know soy sauce salty but so good oh my goodness and by the way we're walking down the street because there's a sriracha vending machine here and satoshi finds that very yeah and you know we should get a bottle because um i want to use it for something later on located right next to 7-eleven is a sriracha vending machine you guys know what sriracha is right i like sriracha sauce and i did not expect to buy from vending machine but there is so i have to buy so it's 600 yen each okay press this button here he is wow oh interesting what is this packaging [Music] that's interesting like this makes like the perfect gift yeah that's right for your sriracha lover friend [Laughter] yay i got this now next place we're going to be going is right across the street from the dongle shop right over there it's something i've been wanting to try for a while so i'm so excited so this shop is called kurin i've been wanting to try this place so badly but the last time i was here it was super crowded plus i was stuffed from meeting all the other stuff that i had so they specialize in montblanc which is a type of dessert using chestnuts here they have chestnut they have sweet potato as well as matcha flavor we got the original flavor which is using chestnut this is called o kuri dango which means golden dango and it's basically two rice cakes on sticks covered with the uh the the montblanc paste so look at that oh it looks like there's whipped cream as well oh so interesting if you look at it from this side you can actually see the rice cakes looks like there's two of them here on one stick yeah that is so rich and creamy first i don't know why i i was expecting something a bit more like grainy because it's chestnut but it's so smooth overall though it's very subtly sweet making the flavor of the chestnut stand out and it goes really well with mochi as well this appearance really tempt me yesterday we saw this one i have to eat i thought so and this mochi dango is soft and it matches with this chestnut scream oh i'm so happy we're going to finally try that ah that was delicious oh my goodness we're walking on the east side or the east portion of the shotengai this is one of my uh favorite areas of the shotengai because there's lots of a sidewalk restaurant here like there's a pizza pizzeria here there's a beer place here i think there's a brazilian place halal food love love this area so next stop is oso brazil we found this story to this shopping so it's very international and also brazil's of course it's a brazilian shop and we found koscinia do you know koscienya it's a teardrop type deep fried stuff in brazil i like that it's not teardrop salt it's a chicken thigh style so it's brazilian croquette ins it's made with potato and inside is chicken and they also use cheese i haven't eaten cocina for longest time maybe it was five years ago when we went to brazilian town in oishimi town i love it the flavor is lightly salted and good chicken flavor with cheese and it's very warm this is so nostalgic for the both of us we even made cochinia on our channel we did long time ago after visiting brazil town oh yeah we had to make this so glad we found this what a coincidence we found it here in nagoya [Music] that's so good so much flavor the chicken is shredded so finely almost like shredded tuna almost i don't know what kind of spices to use but so much flavor okay so we're at the end of the street and at the end of the street they're just very very retro bakery and they are famous for something called katapan and we just had to get a bag of it so at the end of this shotengai there's a retro bakery called iwasepan looks like looks like they've been in business for quite a while and they're famous for this thing called katapan which translates to hard bread you have to buy them in a bag like this comes with 10 of these this is 550 yen so let's see but oh my goodness wow they feel like bricks actually like light bricks interesting oh my goodness it's like okay let's just give it a try i don't know what to say i gotta try thank you huh i can't bite it so hard it's so hard oh wait a minute it's like eating a rock it's delicious though it's like bread and cracker but once again the shocking thing is how hard it is wait a minute let's see if i can break it in half with my my hand [Music] i can't i can't break it oh my goodness it looks like cookie and it's light very light [Music] i can't believe shinichi said it is unbreakable be careful don't like put you know too much don't break your teeth i wonder how you're supposed to eat this oh you oh they're all success why i don't know this part was breakable maybe there's like some some parts that's softer than other parts how do you eat how are you supposed to eat this i wonder like maybe dip it in soup or something i think dip into milk milk interesting i wonder what their idea was behind making this bread but this one this one is a very historical nostalgic brand i didn't ask about the detail of this history but the shop owner said it has a long history and i think nissan is the world's hardest brand i agree i absolutely agree with you so that was actually a nice place to sit down where that big manikiniko statue is and by the way this is something i want to ask satoshi i wasn't sure what this was it looks like a temple but also look at the theme park so satoshi what is this a temple is it a concert hall it's a temple it's a real temple really it's very modern i think it's new i read on the new internet built in in the heisei era okay temple is very historical but the building is very new wow what is the temple called manchoji manshoji temple well this is the most modern temple i've ever seen in my entire life we found a very curious thing it's called satonashi satonashi it means sugarless sugarless pudding puding means japanese custard yes it's sweet but they don't use any sugar but it's sweet what so we went to the shop the shop is located on the basement floor of the opposite side of the manshoji and this is the pudding it's cute size it's a it's like a cube itadakimasu i'm very curious very soft smooth pudding [Music] am i am i sweet but not overly sweet a lightly sweetened but it's just right and i asked what do you use for this sweetener they use the fermented rice yes the fermentation of rice gave this cream the sweetness and same time the egg flavor is really good i want to eat this pudding again and again so this comes in a variety of flavors i think there are five different flavors we've got the plain but i i do want to show you how creamy it is look at look how creamy it is it's like a cream okay let's give it a try wow wow that's nice it's very like clean tasting like the fact that they didn't add in the sugar it really lets the egg shine through they're using special eggs from the nagoya cochin chicken which is like a special chicken here in nagoya okay this is pretty good i'm going to finish this whole thing oh my god i just got lost in the pudding look all right i'm going to save this for satoshi because he loves so how many have we tried today i kind of lost count but you know we've only covered not even a half of the variety of street food they have here in this area also so if you like street food you have to come here this is one of the best places for street food so this is the karage shop here i think i want to try that next time but today we're here instead at makamaka nago don because they have this thing here we found a very very yummy stuff it's sushi but not the raw fish it's beef beef japanese beef it's called the chitage it's an aichi prefecture is a very popular brand beef look it's so yummy looks so delicious i love beef i love sushi and combined into one i have nothing to say it must be so good and it's great a lightly glazed which i think it's soy sauce based sauce and green onion and on top this side is ginger um this one is i think it's wasabi this the dish is very interesting this one is eviseme cracker also you can eat this this cracker tadakimos take one this one was a very good beef flavor beef is tender or soft and the sauce and the ginger match is really good ginger is a good accent i do not know about cheetah beef but i realized it's very good what's interesting about this place is that they have all these different dishes like taiwanese fried rice they have uh torii mabushi man which is like a bao but it's like chicken and there's like rice balls they even have japanese sake here loco sake so quite an interesting restaurant okay let's give this a try i think that's uh the white part of the the leek or green onions um [Music] definitely sushi rice you can taste a little bit of that vinegar the vinegar seasoned rice matches really well with the flavor of the beef and a nice glaze which is like a teriyaki sauce and the wasabi acts as a really nice accent to the whole thing babysitting with some rice that's good too it's so unique every set itself is delicious so you cannot go wrong with this hey look here's another sriracha machine that's that's so cool so we're looking for this place that sells uh fried chicken that's where we want to go i came here very very long time ago i think around maybe seven years ago and it was really good ah here we are it's right here guys lee's taiwan kitchen possibly the most famous uh taiwanese fried chicken shop in nagoya seriously there are so many street food stalls here we're having such a hard time deciding where we should go next look you got these taiwan kitchen here you have solo pizza napolitana where they have like pizza to take out it's like these handy pizza rose and you have another shop here selling like korean hot dogs but we are here to enjoy the chicken all right lee's taiwan kitchen let's see if it tastes exactly as high remember okay itadakimasu look how crispy that looks so crispy so juicy and so much flavor i don't know what kind of seasonings they use but they use something with a lot of umami mmm exactly like i remembered it once again it's seasoned so nicely so much flavor i wouldn't know it you see it's kind of orangey so i i don't really know what what that is but it just makes it really tastes good you can also get this with like sweet and sour sauce you also have orange chicken which sounds fantastic but i like the plain one oh so good we bought sriracha sauce so it must be very good with this karaoke good song i chose a lightly lightly spiced one lightly spicy one i believe sriracha sauce enhances the spiciness this is a very good option to eat delicious buy silica sauce as a vending machine and pour a little bit more karage that combo sriracha sauce is the taiwanese fried chicken definitely great combo highly recommend you do the same oh my gosh we're actually getting kind of stuff and we're gonna go for one more thing there's so many choices i don't know what to do so last place we back to by the kandon samak osu temple and here is a shop very popular shop called yabatom yabaton is a one of the most popular restaurant in nagoya everybody knows yabatoom this shop is established in 1947 so they have more than 50 years history and we bought yabaton setup two shikatsu the deep-fried pork and buns i chose curry buns they also have pokemons but i chose caribbean today so talking about nagawaya food miso is necessary and they also use miso sauce on this cushion and the miso is fermented 18 months 18 months fermented miso it must be so good first the miso taste is really good it's sweet miso sauce it's not salty it's sweet but good miso flavor umami with fermented miso flavor wow nice and pork the pork meat is tender and flavorful look inside of this [Music] oh yeah that's a familiar yamato miso sauce that i'm accustomed to eating by the way they use special pork from the southern part of kyushu and that is the curry bun [Music] oh here way way better than the curry bun that you get at the convenience store for example oh wow super favorable the spices they use it's not your like typical convenience store curry it's like i i can't describe it it's spicier but not like spicy spicy hot spicy they're using a more like variety of spices to make a very complex and uncle adult taste look at that i'm not sure what that is i think there's like vegetables in there here's some pieces of pork but the curry sauce is the highlight of this curry bun so delicious in fact although i do like the tonkatsu from yabaton i think this curry bun is the winner for this particular item curry bun so good oh my gosh i can't believe how much food we had i really really enjoyed everything was delicious yes here i thought it's street food paradise no i'm so happy you thought that you know you know like i said in the beginning you know i came here to have street food once but you know i was alone so i only have like two things i think and i was already stuffed but every time i come with you we can eat like five times more i thought we had a shopping area or around the language station but here is fun too it is it is you know the the mix of older new shops you know well-established shops you know international shops yeah and all the different international restaurants i want to come back here just to you know eat you know bun meat and brazilian food and you know more street food there's so much more street food i think we've only covered like maybe one third of the variety of street food they had here i mean uh hand pizza pizza that you can you know eat with your hands while walking i mean that's something i like to try next time it's very hard for me to forget the hard bread me too like i'm still thinking about that like how does one actually eat it it's so hard well thank you so much for watching really hope you guys enjoyed this
