Moving our Alligator into the Zoo!

hey everyone tomorrow is the big day it's grand opening but we're freaking out because we still don't have any glass for rex's enclosure to catch you up we've been waiting on glass for a while and no time like last minute i guess but we still don't know if we're actually going to have it so i guess we'll just start the video here and we'll see what happens [Music] oh look we have oh okay okay i don't know why that's not working but let's go see what emily's doing oh you're over here hey hey rex's glass is not coming in today really yeah they have anacondas glass tiny's glass came in those two panels so we have that one that doesn't help us when we need rex here though did we have it ordered like a month ago we did we've ordered this a long time ago we got one of the three panels of rex's glass and the two panels for anaconda so great we're stuck you're gonna bring rex in i think and ever sit on your lap it's gonna be a fun opening weekend yeah all right well i guess i'll look at hourglass tree frogs and try and get over this but then a miracle happened so uh what are we doing uh well we figure since rex hasn't been here yet yeah this is a rex's enclosure yeah we still have some rearranging to do with rocks but her pool is really nice yeah it's like 90 degrees in here this is awesome oh my god yeah i'm i'm like sitting and i'm like chest height right now yeah i can stretch out i can't stretch up my legs in our own bathtub no yeah like your foot is still quite a ways from the wall yeah this is amazing maybe rex won't move here and this will just be this will be our enclosure yeah i can live with that yeah i'm okay with that it's a pretty nice enclosure yeah we could stretch out there's this sweet zoo bar thing so we can get a tan yeah that's like intense uvb and i'll get it yeah do you want to explain um since now it's been about four hours since that last call what's going on in here look over there there's glass there and it's not grand opening yet so magic happens today and jim and cody with crown glass are geniuses and they took the glass from the anaconda enclosure and they put it in rex's enclosure and we have a temporary fix for grand opening wheels we won't have our anaconda in the zoo as a result but i think more people want to meet rex than tiny yeah so these two panels belong to the anaconda yep and stevie little gap there yeah you can also see the difference in thickness yeah that's the main difference between anaconda and rex panels is because our rex's panels are thicker so we can't use this forever but it'll work for now i think it'll just be another couple of weeks till we get rex's and then we can move anaconda in so yeah it miraculously have a pool floatie thank you so we can have rex here for grand opening it doesn't have to sit on the edge of the pool with rex on his lap i think we also have to clean this glass yes i do have to do that okay you do that i'll keep relaxing okay all right so the moment of truth yes we get to peel off the protective covering from her pop-up dome apparently we have to peel off underneath too oh yeah it looks like it i'd say it's satisfying to watch but that didn't really look all that satisfying to watch struggling oh it rips emily's is working over there there we go put your head down that's gonna be great that is awesome i think tomorrow we might start being ready to grand open we still have a lot to do yeah okay it's really early so rex's lights haven't gone on yet but what did you do overnight oh my gosh you destroyed your room overnight rex rex we're going to the facility you're going to move come here come on come here target target are you still waking up too well we're gonna get rex out and we're here to the shop oh this is rex's last time at our house this is the last time we pulled her out of her pool put her in her travel bin you're a good girl you're gonna go to a nice big home at the zoo okay i better keep putting zip ties on she's actually being really quiet and she's not trying to push out like she usually does it's like it's like she knows she's going somewhere exciting rex you're gonna love it there and by the way today's grand opening so a lot of people are gonna be looking at you i'm sorry we tried to move you in earlier but this is what happened well cheyenne are you ready you're ready to move rex in we got our breakfast at quick trip which is in our area the best gas station around it's no buckies no we had the whole staff come out and meet her though yeah everyone wanted to meet cheyenne and they heard there was an alligator in the trunk so they kind of wanted to see rex but we couldn't take her out no no she's staying back there she's actually being really well behaved back there i think she knows something fun is happening maybe all right let's move rex in rex she's not happy being rolled no she doesn't like being rolled in that thing oh my gosh we took the uh the wrapper off so that looks nice oh my gosh this is oh should we grab paul yeah he wants to watch okay rex are you ready this is your new home ed's gonna put her in the water oh my gosh you filled up that tank oh my gosh this is a huge moment this is what we've been working for for like two years almost and in like half an hour we're gonna be open which i mean better late than never for moving her in there we go oh it's stuck on her too there you go go in rex look at your new why are you going back there why i mean we bumped it out enough so you could wiggle back there i guess this is a good test can you fit yeah there you go oh my gosh rex look at you we were swimming in there last night it's it's nice are you just gonna lay down right there slide in your water it'd be cool to watch you go in the water yep she's happy look at it i'm comfy right here look at this though we have american alligator huge enclosure it's almost twice the size of her previous home oh my gosh that is amazing oh go in the water i have to turn some things on still oh here vb yeah so she has a massive uvb that's actually built for zoos we were talking with john courtney smith from arcadia and he recommended this for her but we had to leave it off while we were working in here because we could feel ourselves getting a tan that's how strong that uvb is but it has to reach her all the way down here so that's why we got that oh yeah we just trying on basking yeah okay rex move wait wait oh there you go rex oh my gosh hi rex this is amazing oh my gosh and there's all the staff and ed running away rex are you just stunned okay well we'll go out here oh and this is what all the kids are gonna see all the legs we have amazing employees here just saying then they'll get to see her in here and she still hasn't moved well i guess i'll check back later i still have a lot to do before we open so uh i'll come back later oh wait here's the view that everyone on the outside is gonna have kim this is amazing this is amazing well with the craziness of grand opening i forgot to film this but rex found her corner behind the rock and refused to come out like all day i don't think she knew what to do with all of the space that she had she didn't go into the water first at all she went into the corner and that's where she sat and she sulked for the majority of the first day we were open so i improvised slightly okay i decided to cheat a little bit and i shifted rex's rock ever so slightly so even though she's still hidden now you can see her from the tunnel so it works until she's brave enough to come out and rex has refused to move all day but let's see how she's doing inside of the tunnel rex how are you doing oh you're somehow managing to hide even from in here well maybe tomorrow you'll come out that's fine you hide as long as you'd like i guess i'll crawl through the tunnel well we are officially closed after our first day and my goodness ha brayden is cleaning the dome can you see rex from back there still yeah back there yeah she has not moved all day and uh all you can see is your tail tip from out here but you can't see it from in the dome are there a lot of like hand prints in there yeah that doesn't surprise me all right so rex was in her pool yesterday this morning and emily's gonna give her a toy and actually fix her stump that she knocked over as she went in the corner of the soul so this is the emily exhibit now rex you're finally out oh look at your sideways smile oh you're right she's got the uh her eyelid closed right now that's always a bit cloudy that's so cool what do you think girl you have your jolly ball up there it's there it is yeah you can play with that when you're ready gonna go back up oh my gosh this is cool my hair is crazy right now okay ignore that it's super busy in here and this is my first time feeding rex in her enclosure i'm in the little like room that's hidden in the in behind the scenes but i hope she eats we're gonna unlock this perfect oh we've got some onlookers she's over there hi hi guys rex hey rick's here you go rex good girl all right i say she's feeling good now and everyone's ducking down to look at her eat that's awesome good girl right [Music] all right we are closed for the day and i actually have not seen rex from inside her the tunnel yet oh my gosh that's cool rex you're so cute oh my gosh this is like a dream come true seeing her underwater because we haven't had any clear enclosures for her or tubs since so this is so different oh my gosh rex you're so cute you are so pretty why why can't i eat you what is this force field and this is what employees do after hours apparently we're just gonna play with rex and never get anything done who is that rex is that kim and haley she's so confused as to why she can't get in there see them she just i don't think she can understand right where is that i gotta be able to eat them somehow go up top rex oh that'd be awesome there's a little smear marks on my crush rex is gonna get fed some fish today all right let's see she got that one [Music] [Music] the kids are acting dead they might not be oh wow that was quite the on you sleepy yeah she's getting more comfortable in here i'd say oh yeah rex you're playing with your ball everyone's been seeing you play and i just haven't seen it myself yet but here's proof rex is playing with her jolly ball okay now she's not because i'm looking at her okay i'll back up there we go oh you let it go you're such a pain you're not gonna let me watch you play ever are you [Music] it's an alligator you kill that ball rex played so hard that she's just out hi rex hey sweetie are you tired did you play it all day now that you're comfortable with people you're playing with that jolly ball all the time it seems do you like your new home yeah do you like your new home oh my gosh you are adorable you don't have to wake up it's okay no you could have kept sleeping good morning sunshine oh can you just go back to sleep you are tired from playing all day i'll leave you alone you just get your beauty rest okay well this is kind of cool ed is adding some extra lights for heat for the big the big pythons over there and he's making a drilling sound or that and that's making rex bellow and then we'll see if she doesn't okay i'll try to film it okay oh my gosh i felt that in the floor oh my gosh rex she's really defensive over her new home he oh my gosh yeah i felt the floor vibrating when she did that yes i'm gonna try to get more of a sound by hanging out by this crack okay [Music] oh my gosh rex are you defending your new home you've never done this before i think i think rex is uh enjoying her basking spot i think she's also hungry because she was we were talking and she went after you she always comes out for me or she like looks at me so i think you like me more than i thought you originally did i think she likes you as food maybe that's it well she perked up with that noise so did you hear food are we gonna feed you no we're not feeding you right now i'm sorry i think she's really liking this enclosure see if she goes at you if you pop up in the dome right i'm over here there you go see i'm over here oh it's mom hi cutie oh my gosh hi rex hi sweetie how are you doing you came when i called you are you having fun in your new enclosure yes you are look at you you've got your foot back you're all relaxed you're good girl i know everyone gets to see you oh you killed your jolly ball we're gonna have to revive that and uh she keeps knocking over her cypress stump over there but i think we're gonna leave it like that because she likes to lay on it so i mean if you want your cypress to lean that's okay as long as you're happy you're such a good girl this dome is working out beautifully kids like it adults like it we all like it let's see if you'll come back out there she goes back in her pool yeah i think she approves it for new enclosure don't you don't you stinky yeah and the nice thing is she poops in that back corner we found so it's really easy to clean so thank you rex for pooping where we can clean it easily well thank you everybody for watching our next video will
