Mother In Law Did A Family Reunion To COMPLAIN Everyone How It's TERRIBLE That I'm PREGNANT

how are your experiences with announcing pregnancy to your in-laws backstory mother-in-law has never approved of so and mind's relationship when we first met i was dealing with post-traumatic stress and mother-in-law decided i was crazy and tried to forbid her adult son from seeing me this caused a huge ongoing fight between esso and his parents and they have been no contact for two years apart from mother-in-law sending esso the occasional guilt-tripping text messages every few months personal favorite sending him a photo of his two family cats with a monologue from the cat's point of view about how much they miss him esso and i have been trying to get pregnant for a year and a half and had some issues but it finally happened for us and we are now at 12 weeks and we're excited to start telling people esso is so over the moon with the news and can't wait to be a dad so he wanted to share this with his parents he went up to see them two days ago to tell them and they were really average about it they weren't excited or happy for him but also didn't seem unhappy with the news they still refused to acknowledge that i even existed and definitely were not going to acknowledge me as the soon-to-be mother of his child however they were nice enough and were adamant they wanted to fix their relationship with him and would do everything in their power too yesterday esso got home to a message from his cousin who he is very close with he was the person esso was most excited to tell so he had been trying to come up with a fun way to do it the message was a joke about babies born in march which is our due date esso rang him immediately to find out how he knew and found out that mother-in-law had texted every member of his family and invited them out for a big family dinner she didn't tell esso about this dinner or invite him the very first thing she did when everyone sat down was tell them all that s.o was having a child then she carried on about how it was terrible news for them in less than 10 seconds she had taken away every announcement esso would have gotten to make we haven't heard from any other family members since the dinner no congratulations or even just general texts to see how he is doing we also haven't heard anything from his parents since he went up to see them i am still fuming that they deprived esso of being able to announce his first child and the first grandchild of the family they turned what should have been exciting news into their sob story so far they really seem to be putting a lot of effort into fixing their relationship we live out of state and traveled back home this week to announce the pregnancy to our families first we flew out to my mom's and told her then flew out to tell the rest of our family in a different state first day we go to dad's to tell him the next day we meet the in-laws and their relatives to tell them today i'm planning to tell my brother we specifically told everyone not to post anything on social media my mother-in-law took it upon herself to post anyway then we start getting messages from friends and relatives saying congrats we look on instagram and see she posts it her reply was i didn't put it on facebook and you're not tagged so now my entire family and everyone we know found out before we got a chance to tell them in person my mom is thinking why is she allowed to post it and i can't tell anyone come to find out she lied and did in fact also put it on facebook either way we hired a photographer to do a birth announcement photo and had a whole plan on how to tell people my brother found out from social media before i could tell him in person he was furious felt like he was the last to know and that he didn't and not even in person she doesn't think that she did anything wrong this was our news to share not hers she took it upon herself to announce our pregnancy to the world after we specifically told her not to i can't believe someone would do this she did the same thing to his brother he told her before she was supposed to know when they had a party to announce it she had already told everyone in the room to make things worse after we tell them she starts asking me about morning sickness then starts getting all worried saying hope the baby is okay that it's a really bad sign that i don't have morning sickness after that she asks me in a room full of family members is this your first pregnancy have you had pregnancy loss or ended it what really later that day she says you should move back home i told her no they don't really have jobs for me here well change careers or quit working so that you can have more babies she replies i'm currently getting my master's degree i'm in tech and recently worked for one of the hardest companies to get into like does my career mean nothing are you serious my husband responds if anything i'd be the one to quit work they were like really shocked i am so annoyed and can't get over it she does things like this all the time she is a cool person sometimes but oversteps she tracks my husband she tracks her other son used to check his garbage for pregnancy tests because she didn't like his girlfriend would check his phone history to make sure he wasn't visiting her or calling her she went through my mail and discovered our secret fireworks show we planned for our wedding for over a year then tells me it's my fault for having the paperwork out man the list goes on and on so invasive you know those don't worry ladies i'm still single t-shirts that little boys wear sometimes so my mother-in-law made one for my son when he was a baby she has one of those machines that you can embroider letters with he barely wore it simply because putting a baby in a t-shirt is a nightmare he wore it to visit her and that was it by the time he was easier to dress it didn't fit anymore daughter is three almost four mother-in-law made a dress for her that says come on boys i'm single and i cannot bring myself to put my kid in it it was one thing with the baby because he was a baby but she's old enough to walk talk dress herself she just feels too old for this to be cute it seems creepy to me especially the wording doesn't help mother-in-law gave her the dress during a grandma date and she came home in it so daughter loves it and obviously doesn't understand why i don't want her wearing it don't want to hurt mother-in-law's feelings but i kind of want to let the dress go missing when we travel in a few weeks mother-in-law buys my kids new clothes whenever she finds something with a good price we've always appreciated this because it's helpful and i do my best to make sure the kids wear whatever she bought them next time we see her we see my in-laws a few times a week and i don't want to be ungrateful especially since she made this husband agrees it's weird but doesn't want to hurt his mom's feelings and says to just let her wear the dress when we go to his parents for dinner and nowhere else but i just don't feel right about that i told him my idea about losing it while traveling since we always managed to lose something in hotels and he said it felt wrong to lie but that it also wasn't a bad idea edit probably should mention this is the family tradition she started she's made all of her grandkids one of these i'm single things usually t-shirts and onesies for babies she gives at the baby showers my daughter is the only one who got a dress past the age of one so husband doesn't want to rock the boat with all of his siblings since this has gone on for like 10 plus grandkids my daughter was my second kid born at the same time as my sister-in-law's first gave birth a week apart so i didn't have a baby shower so people could focus on her i thought my mother-in-law forgot that my girl never got her homemade grandma gift this is the only time she makes them homemade clothes since she's got so many grandkids but rest assured ruth never forgets edit two she wouldn't make a new one these are one and done gifts a few other kids have ruined theirs over the years and all she cares is that it's fair and they each get one i've posted here a few times before but a little background dear husband is 30 years old i am 28. we have a dear son and triplet girls we both always wanted a big family but the traumatic birth of the triplets took a toll on me recently we brought up the thought of more children with mother-in-law and she basically announced a pregnancy to the kids and then claimed that i must be having fertility issues seriously lady i mean sure it's possible but i had spontaneously conceived triplets not long after that a close friend of dear husbands passed away in a car accident obviously it was very unexpected friend and his wife lived two states away so it required a bit of traveling we went to help friend's wife pretty soon after we heard and stayed for the funeral and a few days after due to the fact it was quite unexpected mother-in-law took the kids for us initially it didn't seem like a bad idea brother and sister-in-laws would be there for one week visiting mother-in-law with their two kiddos and then aunt in law would be there aunt in law is very just yes she dotes on the kiddos and was one of the few to come by and actually help when i had newborn triplets before we went i had to clear things with mother-in-law i didn't want her taking anything out on our kiddos while we were gone and she was the only option to take care of them for that long i explained that i was hurt because she knew how traumatic the birth of the trips was and how it was scary for all of us she was terrified too came in white as a ghost to see me after the girls were born and cried hugging me saying she was so glad i was okay that we were all okay she did however lose her mother to childbirth she apologized for everything she said she had no idea and was acting selfishly she said the idea of a baby just got to her head and then she didn't want to be wrong so she just made something up she said she knows how wrong it was anyway we drop dear son and the girls off give them hugs and kisses tell them we love them and leave the first few days are great mother-in-law sends us updates the kids are playing with their cousins all as well brother and sister-in-law's leave five days early turns out brother-in-law's sister lives kind of close by and they hadn't seen her in years she was also swamped with her dear son and newborn so they went to help her out that leaves mother-in-law with our kiddos for five days without anyone else i don't hear anything from mother-in-law for a week besides the usual the kids are doing great stuff the mood at friend's wife place was pretty somber so even hearing that was enough to brighten my day a bit and i didn't think much of it three days before we are about to come home aunt in law calls me absolutely furious she can't even describe what had happened and just said i had to skype her right then and there guys when i skyped her she was sitting in her car pulled over on the highway with the kiddos in the seats my kids were red-faced and teary-eyed dear daughter has a small rash under her eyes from crying so much and rubbing her eyes dear son hasn't let go of me or dear husband since we came back after brother and sister-in-law's left mother-in-law decided to tell the kiddos that we had passed away she didn't go into details just told them that they would be staying with them forever because dear husband and i had passed away and wouldn't be coming home when aunt in law came the kids were still mostly upset mother-in-law blamed it on them missing us which they agreed to because they thought we were dead a few days later ant-in-law figures out what actually happened tells the kiddos we are fine and takes them from the house and skypes me where i find all of this out we agreed that she'd take the kids for the last few days i told dear husband and let him know that we would be cutting his mother out or we would be getting a divorce he's in full agreement on cutting her out the kids are doing all right dear son hasn't let go of dear husband or i since we picked them up my heart is breaking underneath this seething rage i have i want to hurt her like she hurt my children i want her to suffer any advice on how to cut her out would be amazing we are already looking at places to move closer to friend's wife actually who is my friend anyway and plan on not telling mother-in-law at all she'll find out eventually but not where we are living i also have no idea how to explain to the kids that grandma won't be around anymore i don't want them to assume she's passed away too my dear husband and i started trying to have a baby in late 2010 we struggled and four years later hadn't had any luck we tried a lot of different things even two rounds of ivf but nothing had stuck in june of 2015 we decided that if we didn't have any luck by december we would stop trying and think about other options deep inside i was certain we'd get lucky and that i'd get pregnant i was wrong however a couple of months into 2016 i got what i thought was a stomach bug one trip to the doctor later and it was confirmed i was pregnant we were so happy and relieved dear husband cried for about two hours we had always planned to wait until 12 weeks to tell anyone but we were so excited that we immediately called our parents they were thrilled and agreed not to tell anyone until we were ready given my past fertility issues i was terrified of losing the baby so we went and got a scan almost right away and found out i was 10 weeks along we also found out that we were having triplets to quote my doctor i don't do things in halves immediately after getting the scan we went to dear husband's parents place to tell them about the three babies we sat them down i was shaking with excitement and told them that we were expecting three babies guys i have never seen looks of joy turn to horror so quickly see what i didn't know was that they believe that multiple births are unnatural and often demonic in nature don't even ask what kind of mental gymnastics it takes to come to this conclusion i still don't know mother-in-law proceeds to explain how it clearly wasn't god's plan for us to be parents or we would have been long ago and how maybe someone else had a hand in this obviously we couldn't say much as we were utterly shocked she then suggested that we could forget this happened and try again seriously after everything no we left fuming and went to see my parents who responded with joy tears and many congratulations we tried to put mother-in-law and father-in-law out of our minds over the course of the pregnancy we limited contact with them as they continued to make it clear that they were uncomfortable with the three babies we were so excited and busy preparing that we barely missed them and then we had the baby shower i had thrown my sister all the baby showers for her kids and she was so excited to be able to return the favor finally that i let her do whatever she wanted it was beautiful tasteful and classy we played some games and everyone seemed to be getting on and enjoying themselves and then came the gifts everyone had bought things in sets of three my favorite was from a cousin thing one thing two and thing three suits mother-in-law had saved her gifts for last and was so excited for me to finally open them she had gotten me a stroller which i would have been super grateful for except that we'd already ordered a custom one that would work for triplets she then said the baby will love it and look i also got this for the baby at which point one of my aunts asks my mother if mother-in-law knew i was having triplets it was a little uncomfortable but my sister smoothed things over and we moved on after the party mother-in-law my mother and my sister stayed to help clean up and my mother was talking about how excited she was about having three babies around at once when my mother-in-law turned to me and said cher haven't you told her she's only keeping one as you can imagine this sparked a whole argument which ended in me kicking mother-in-law out and crying into cake dear husband had a good long talk to her and we essentially cut contact for the remainder of the pregnancy so the big day finally arrived and i gave birth to three small but amazingly beautiful babies through caesarean after some complications i was absolutely exhausted and so we decided that we would wait until i was better to contact our families it was about 1am when it was all over so we figured it wouldn't matter that much if we waited until the morning plus rest and bonding time was important the babies had to spend some time in the nicu due to their size but we were able to pick them up for short periods of time so the next day it was around lunchtime when we call families to tell them that our little miracles were here my mother and sister came up right away and were absolutely besotted mother-in-law and father-in-law came in about an hour later and my mother immediately offered the baby she was holding to mother-in-law which one was born first mother-in-law asked before taking the baby i told her the boy that my sister was holding i'll hold him then i was confused but offered the girl two boys one girl i was holding to father-in-law he declined saying he would wait for mother-in-law to finish now you've probably clicked into what was happening i didn't dear husband and i were so caught up in our babies that we didn't notice at first that they were blatantly ignoring the second and third born babies we actually didn't cotton on to this until they returned a couple of days later with an it's a boy balloon needless to say this didn't fly with us we had gone through too much for two of our babies to not count we immediately put our foot down and said that if they wanted to see the babies they would have to acknowledge that there were three of them to this day there is some favoritism but they do love all three you
