came out here to check out jeff's coming we're just starting third cutting alfalfa on our 70 acre field he said we we better look under there something don't seem right believe it or not we come in here and this whole piece is missing he said that's never happened before right so this piece is broken we don't have anything to get at it so we just went with this instead these first two have this kind of piece we have the replacement part but like i said we can't get at it and these other ones switch to that i think these are just there to throw the hay to the middle but we're gonna go with that and that should work just going it's leaving it quite well i need to get some more of this wheel down i'll come out with the drone fly that a little bit i'm going to box scrape some gravel spread that out and later we'll be raking and bailing and it's getting to the end just just this 70 acres a third cutting left and then we have one or two that will actually get a fourth cutting off of do my so welcome back currently sunday jeff cut that about i don't know three days ago was it i don't remember what day it was was it thursday maybe and last night we got a sprinkle it was a hard rain actually but it was for a short amount of time so it wasn't a sprinkle but now the haze wet we checked it a few hours ago it's about one it's about 12 30 right now i think i'm not a fan of this there's that grass patch right next to that big 70 acre field of alfalfa and there's a little bit of alfalfa in that grass and so jeff cut that as well and it's not as thick the windrows aren't as big so we're hoping we're gonna drive over there and do those smaller windrows right next to it and if that's too dry if it happened to dry that much in the last couple hours then we'll just do the the 70 acres and we can either bail it later later tonight it's it's pretty damp or we'll get it done tomorrow fail it but either way we should have something that we can rake right now some people they take their fancy cars out on a nice sunday leisurely stroll howdy but my dad and i have the same hobby and that's to work every day of our lives ain't that fun now this third cutting is pretty amazing we got wide thick windrows here so they're probably holding a lot of moisture we only got i mean probably like three four hundredths but when it soaks in it's it makes it wet what i do like about it is if i raked it i'd go about 15 20 mile an hour why is that yeah we won't lose too many leaves yeah i don't know if you can go that fast the top is they the leaves are starting to dry yeah on the top so i think maybe we best get right if you want yeah if you want to start on these i'll go check those light wind rolls and if i decide that i can bale right behind you there i'll tell you and you can go do that quick so pretty exciting jeff didn't have to go around those wet spots like he did last time we've been somewhat dry a little bit wet i mean two weeks or what was it like a week and a half ago we got about two inches of rain but it wasn't there's there's kind of some place to go with it because it had dried enough and so jeff went through that wet spot and the other wet spots around it and so there isn't much turning except that one slew but i don't think we've had that since we've since we planted this to alfalfa that makes the day go a lot easier when you don't have to go around them wet spots and so right next to us is that grass which has a little alfalfa in it and so it it made it worth it to cut because that alfalfa grows back pretty quickly he's gonna check on that it might be too dry it might be just right but i'm gonna start over here and and see how this goes this is some mighty fine stuff i don't know where we're gonna put all these bales yeah just check that he's coming back we'll see what he has to say about it it apart like that so it dries quicker yeah okay oh right here i was slowing down right back there when i was going fast it was throwing it together so that would be nice um so this is going to take quite a while before we convey it yep and if you rake that now i can probably start bailing in about an hour okay i wanna hit that stuff quick okay all right bye we're gonna hop over hit that there's only about seven acres over there i think looks like the boss is coming back hello what i wanted to see what it was like oh so i didn't have to get out ah sonova you know what they say about assuming yeah we got that first little piece done now we're out in the big field these rows are fantastic we're gonna get a lot of hay off them uh that'll be headed down here shortly probably an hour maybe two hours he'll start bailing that stuff and it is fancy that is some that it's all leaf a little bit alfalfa that is some high quality stuff what is that oh it's a shroom you know what that means it's gonna be a wild night the cabin looked like a giant egg i was like what around here lays something that big now what a waste whatever critter did this it just dug a giant hole part ways down and then i said you know i don't like this location let me just dig another one somewhere else in this field my my city friend one of my college roommates he said what are you up to i told him i was ranking some alfalfa he replied do you even have to do anything and then i said well i have to steer and i have to pick up the rake when i turn and adjust the size but i i guess no i guess i'm not doing nothing i'm just sitting in a tractor meanwhile he's shopping at target with his girlfriend well that was a close one didn't realize when i turned the wheel the kind of the mud flap would hit the camera it was hanging on by a thread that would have ruined my day it's probably been a good hour since i raked that stuff down there i'm i'm a little surprised dad isn't here yet with the baler because usually he's really itching to get at that type of stuff but then i was thinking you know maybe he's waiting a little extra time because he's thinking if he waits long enough he can start on this stuff i guarantee it that guy can't help himself he just wants to bail oh looks like the moko hit that one a bit we'll bring this one up into the cab that way when i hit a big bump out here the rock can go right through a windshield here's something kind of fun two years ago today our four-wheel drive tractor rolled up so that 92 30 we've had two years it's fun thinking about how excited dad and i were watching that four-wheel drive roll up onto the farm starting to get a lot of friends up in here got a comment the other day they said why don't you take your loader off when you're raking hay first off it was written kind of poorly i i thought they were talking about the bucket anyway they meant the whole loader the arms one thing about when i'm raking it means we're about to have a bunch of bales that need picked up we're not gonna be taking off the loader and putting it on day after day it's just a waste of time and i i understand this bouncing around a little bit you know that definitely wears on it it's just not worth it for us to take that off one day and put it back on the next and honestly a lot of the times where i'm raking and then at the in that same day later that same day we're picking up bail so we're not gonna be we're just not gonna be putting that on and taking it off sometimes when we get comments like that i just wonder you know are these town people do they just not really understand farming much or are they farmers and do they ever get any work done are they always just trying to do those little things like take the loader off and put it back on all the time i mean i'm all for taking care of equipment but that's just a little excessive don't you think do you think that's excessive to take this on and off when it's the same tractor used to move bales that's just my thought all right we're working our way up to the slough we only got about a third of the field left so i'm gonna i'm gonna hit the stuff on the south side and then we'll finish up on the north side after that end rose and then we'll be out of here dad's still not bailing kind of thinking i should call him and make sure that he's not getting run over by an angus bowl or something check with cows have you been doing that this whole time why i was just surprised you weren't failing i guess he was checking cows yesterday we found out some great news my brother and his wife are having a baby girl that's really exciting that just helps me determine what color of pliers we're gonna get her so now we know it's gonna be pink ain't gonna believe it that one was laying on top of the window the moco took a big chunk off that one i honestly don't i've never had i mean i've raked this field many times before i've never seen this many rocks out here all right we just got the end rose left so about another 30 more minutes we'll be done i'm sure by the time i'm done with that that'll be over there bailin so i said that good old b-minus pulls in beautiful 72-15 on our 560m baylor it's a lot of green what's up where have i been yeah where have you been i guess i was having so much fun with it i have been seeing a crazy amount of holes and rocks out here holes and rocks yeah i brought some powdered graphite i thought we could try and see if it takes a speedway all right we gotta cut the just the tip so if we're thinking the same thing we're gonna try putting that on the that little bar that runs the rake wheels up and down because they squeak and everyone says you gotta lube them so we got some powdered graph right we'll see if that works this works there you go yeah okay see ya all right so let's see if it makes that high pitch squeak when we raise and lower it it's definitely better it's better cool all right so we're going to run around the end i just raked those and dad is bailing them he can't help himself we'll do a time lapse around it and then we'll hop back in the cab with dad and do a little bailing run home quick probably unhook this i'm going to grab another roll in that wrap people haven't seen you yet today i filled my ear hole yeah i went out at about the worst time possible there we shouldn't have dumped the veil on you i'm itchy now scratchy all right i'm gonna head home do a little chore i think gotta make some supper too i'm gonna go in the house get some food and just get ready for tomorrow it seems like we're going to be busy with moving bales i also didn't mention we're going to be moving manure hauling it spreading it and also silage is coming up in like a month month and a half basically we kind of get our wet corn done and then we do silage after that so we got so we got a lot going on hope you enjoyed this video guys we'll see you next time have a good one wanna go can we win
