Yeah I remember seeing him on various shows and comedy specials around the 80s and 90s. He never failed to absolutely entertain. There were 2 things that were super consistent about him.
He was always completely in control of the crowd and his performance, and he never did what you expected next. The whole performance was always a series of unexpected sharp turns that somehow always segued perfectly into each other. He was a real master of showmanship, I always got really excited when I saw him.
Holy shit this is the juggler!
Definitely see his influence in acts like Demetri Martin. Not just the guitar, but the style and delivery of the punchlines.
That ending was in tents.
Ok. Iβm a total geek for knowing this, but he stole the Kate & Edith line from a song performed by Andy Griffith and Jim Nabors on the old Andy Griffith Show, before Nabors did Gomer Pyle, USMC. The refrain was, Canβt Have Your Kate & Edith Too.
He's like a musical Steven Wright.
I thought this was in the 60s for some reason. This guy wouldn't have just been ahead of his time, but more like a comedic forefather. But seems like this was early 80s.
It's amazing to think these types of observations are just so simplified and yet way more poignant than anything 20 years before it. This guy in the 1960s would have been extremely well known.
It's interesting how we evolve socially, and how our observations evolve and get more complex as we work off each other.
He's a mix of Steven Wright and the Smothers Brothers.
Thank you so much for showing me this performer, he's amazing and made me laugh out loud in all of his videos I've watched so far.
