you know a lot of people ask me well some people ask me two people asked me once what is facilities management again let me clarify this facilities management is a very specialized function that is evolving in corporate America which takes care of the management of facilities for said corporations it's at a lot clearer let me try it one more time facilities management has a very specific job description it's just that nobody knows what it is you see an F M ER as I like to put it has to be very familiar with management and facilities as well as architecture design marketing and also be an electrician an engineer a fortune teller a gambler and a magician besides that the job is easy the trick is coordination the team dealers designers and facility managers it all starts with strategic planning once you've started it's not only what you do it's how you do it style once the project gets started things get a little more complex some people think this can be done with one hand behind your back some people think a really talented F Emmer could keep this project going and even look away yes they do keeping a watchful eye out for the unexpected just as I thought the old unexpected again you see there comes a point in every facilities managers life where it all has to be put together you can't fake it that's right the left-hand return goes in the right office the right-hand return goes in the left office very good that goes there that goes there around there check the third floor not ready yet over there everything under control a brilliant idea now the trick is coordination without it it's a lot like juggling on a motorcycle is that getting any clearer well now that everybody's moved in things should slow down just kick back and oversee the facility there may be a few minor details to work on but as long as you're ready for anything we out already did I say anything I meant everything reconfiguring added security ah lighting plunging drives hmm forecasting red tape baby boomers and then it starts all over again not the facilities management is a difficult job is to see you have to wear a lot of hats it's knowing everything about everything being everywhere every minute of every day every time whether the job is big or small the trix coordination besides that the job is easy
