1986 was a weird season. My 2 favorite teams were the Chiefs and the Dolphins and the Jets screwed us both that year.
Had the Dolphins won both games, they might have snuck into the playoffs as a wildcard. Had the Dolphins won that game, the Chiefs wouldn't have had to go to NY to play the Jets in the playoffs, and lose. The first time the Chiefs had even been in the playoffs in over a decade and it ended in a 1st round playoff loss.
1986 was a depressing season all around as a Chiefs and Dolphins(Marino) fan.
Living in Kansas City as a kid in the mid 80s, and also being a Dolphins fan was a great few years. Dolphins in the super bowl in 84 and Marino setting all-time records, Royals World Series in 85, and then the big pile of suck that was 1986. Elementary-school me did not like 1986, also my 3rd grade teacher was a b*tch and she had the same last name as me. Everyone teased me all year that she was my mom.
