signed looking pad their City to three and a half the Bears will give them half a touchdown just out of sympathy and what if the Bears select the play naked out of sheer boredom it dick a fully cloth just a nightshirt that's not gonna go to bears not bears NBC Sports presents the National Football League today it's the Miami Dolphins versus the Chicago Bears this is Dick Enberg with Bill Walsh welcome to historic Soldier Field in Chicago freezing temperatures chill factor four degrees as the Bears kick it off Butler with a sore hip kicks it to the ten past mark Kings into the end zone where the Dolphins will take the touch back Miami five and six and Dan Marino running the offensive show the Bears are nine and two looking for a playoff by as one of the best in the NFC and here's the lineup for the Dolphins Webb Sims eula make Galbreath and Dennis they've allowed 17 sacks this year that's - Riano and Miami Sammy Smith and Tony pates in the backfield with Marino mark Duke and Mark Clayton the talented wide receivers Greg Beatty is the tight end [Applause] into the wind in the first quarter and the give is to Sammy Smith and Smith struggles for two or three the refrigerator who else in the first play of a cold day to make the tackle now at about 370 pounds but bears defensively they have reputation monsters of the Midway that go back to the George Halas era and continuing his tutor Mike Ditka's tutor Halas signed him to a hundred thousand dollar contract his first deal here with the Bears and now millionaire with many times over underneath to Tony Paige in a fullback is wrestled down by John Roper at the 29 yard line it'll be third and one Miami Moreno is just going to have to throw a number of short completed passes throughout the day that's how Miami is going to survive [Music] we welcome those of you have been watching the Green Bay Indianapolis game here were just underway in Chicago Marino and my Don Shula's team there [Music] Moreno changing plays and gives the Sammy Smith is drilled in the backfield Perry [Applause] just don't go inside especially early in the game on William Perry he's fresh right this minute he's at least 370 pounds dick but he just he really wasn't blocked but Miami tried to do is sort of slip to people then go for a linebacker neither one of those linemen blocked him so Reggie Roby will punt one of the top averages in the NFL nearly 46 a kick and Tom Waddell is at the other end for Chicago from Boston colleagues at the 31 [Applause] 5:36 and the Bears will begin their 42 yard punt six yards on the return just underway and Chicago gets its first chance and Jim Harbaugh brings the offense on the field Harbaugh who wore that same number for at Michigan and as we chatted with him yesterday had on his old Michigan sweatshirt with number four but grew up as a high school star in your area out to Palo Alto High School his dad was a coach at Stanford and he learned his football from people like John Elway emulating them dick even emulated them the way played high school football the pigeon-toed walk everything he wanted to be Elway and you know at some point you might be another elbow Neil Anderson does start for Chicago play-action fake and Harbaugh going down there and it's almost intercepted by vesti Jackson a former bear and don't you think he wants to come up with a big play against his former teammate well besties was beaten by about a yard early on you'll see it but you watch the position he gets and how he uses his body to fall back into waddle either to break up the pass or hopefully get the interception so very very well played by besties I don't think Harbaugh wanted to throw that ball down the field he wanted a shorter pattern that was covered Jackson who came to Miami for Erika Moreau come a role on the injured list for Chicago [Music] has really developed a support in motion Anderson's first carry sits on it at the 31 a loss of five Anderson bothered by a hamstring pull did not play last week and he doesn't practice that off and either dick he might have got one out of five snaps in practice and he just took his eye off the ball he wanted to see his blockers and catch the ball and he just took his eye off but now it's going to take these kinds of things remind me to stay in the game third and 15 as Anderson comes out they go to the extra wide receiver Dennis Gentry always a tough man for Chicago a contributor on third down there he is from Baylor he's been nicked most of the year but the jimmies healthier now than most anytime they sent him in motion third and 15 with our boy in the shotgun [Music] incomplete it was over Gentry's head and I've come the special teams as Harbaugh unable to move the bear so each team without a first down on the first possession and in comes Morrie Buford the punter good strategy by aunt Miami that time they played very tight man underneath coverage with two deep safeties and Chris Green just locked on his receiver so Harbaugh is going to have to get the ball up much more quickly against that kind of defense on third down Miller the UCLA rookie at the Miami 30 10 min on the line of scrimmage for the Dolphins [Music] good [Music] so the 21 years as he was kicking with the wind 48 yards for Buford so Miami back on field with their offense so we'll check the Bears defense tres Armstrong Steve McMichael the veteran of 34 having a big season for Chicago the refrigerator already has made his presence told and Richard dent again leading the Bears and sacks was seven in the half John Roper they feel he's a budding star with a veteran Singletary and Morrissey at backers Wolford and Stinson at the corners and Gale and carrier of the safety moon Marino's first slow from Richard in and now throws long for Clayton [Applause] [Music] touchdown Wolford got a piece of it and Clayton couldn't hang on well did have the sack and he came in too high on merino he comes underneath whip does a beautiful job on a stunt but he comes in too high on merino and Dan Marino a strong up above his shoulders just held off the sack now he's got a chance down the field but on the other hand Marino was moving to the extent that he couldn't throw the ball just where he wanted it didn't dip go right in front of him this play a curling first he thought I could taste that second wow I'm glad I didn't have to swallow a big bomb that would have been a 79 [Music] mrs. Tony hey we're caring for the full-back is head only for Russia's all-season Mike Singletary was ready and Singletary scraped right into the hole out of the 4-3 defense and really was there before Tony Paige even had the ball there was nowhere to go on that play what a combination did Ken Singletary Mike and Mike they've been together Radhika's a ten year here in Chicago Mike's been his starting middle backer almost every game of the ten seasons well Mike people are saying his skills are eroding devoting as an athlete in a sense because of age but this year is quite very very well he still got a lot of good mileage on third down middle any template to Jim Jensen broken up by mark carrier [Applause] led the NFL with ten interceptions last year looking for his first this year well Jensen the third down receiver second down receiver anytime was a passing situation and early in his career dick Jensen was really a factor in fact in fact if first ten years he played two hundred and eight catches 120 of them were first downs off got down so at this point though his skills were eroded Roby taking again - Tom waddle-waddle at the 36 at the 41 yard line and they say the ball was down no fumble 39-yard punt poor on the return Don Shula with 304 career wins trailing only the immortal George Halas the old time winning US NFL coach with 325 we welcome those of you who have seen one of what apparently is going to be an upset 13th week of the NFL season the Patriots knock off Buffalo remember they played the bills real tough in the first game [Music] first downs this is Miami this starts the second ownership and it's Neal Anderson feeling his way out to about the 45 yard line 1031 remaining in this opening quarter at this point Miami's responding well to the ball they really attacked that play and hearten just attacked from the outside as a strong safe to when the flanker came in motion and just shut the play down so at this point the strategy for Miami is very good and and I'm a little surprised at that Miami's holding up this day is very early but they're holding up very well replacing Jarvis Williams flames starting say deal year long [Music] second down it's close to midfield finally bumped out of bounds by Mike Reichenbach and Luis Oliver it'll be third down and about a yard and a half we welcome those of you have seen the Cleveland Browns upset Kansas City the Browns at home 20 to 15 over the Chiefs so Buffalo upset by New England that's my old surprised Kansas City going down to Cleveland Dallas was leading the Washington Redskins 21 14 last we heard late in the fourth here no score Mike Ditka going against rival Don Shula the Bears in the Dolphins no score 26 left in the first quarter this is a 32 for Chicago [Music] five muster may have given the Bears a first down they had him stopped at the 49 but muster the full-back at 230 pounds carried David Griggs ahead for a yard is Alfred Oglesby is the injured Miami Dolphin and there's attending him back at the 36 he's the man that flushed Harbaugh out of the cup [Music] so while they attend to the wounded Miami player we'll take a break 911 left in the first I'm sick you gotta take it so much madness you just can't take it through this I know I feels good while the best things whistle misunderstood the doctor just what the doctor ordered [Music] it's a fast-paced get in get out gotta go world we live in so why not sit back and enjoy the ride in a luxury performance car designed to keep up with it the five cylinder 20 valve action figure the medical facts are clear tylenol is so gentle on your stomach doctors even recommend it to their ulcer patients for everyday aches and pains they know tylenol can't aggravate an ulcer the same way aspirin can that's important for all of us to know and so is this hospitals use Tylenol 23 times more than all aspirin brands combined tylenol the pain reliever hospitals use most [Music] touristic flash and long-range power zoom lens the photo from Canon so advanced it's simple dr. pepper and your local Dr Pepper bottler bring you this NFL game of the month dr. pepper is just what the doctor ordered back in Chicago no score nine ten left in this opening quarter first down picked up by Brad muster on second effort at the miami 47 alfred Oglesby helped off the field it appeared to be a knee injury he was hit by his own man when dole Davis in motion and Harbaugh to throw on first I'm a waddle at the Miami 39 yard line waddle certainly one of those overachievers free-agent he's been wave four times what a year he's having the Raiders win big Cleveland over Kansas City and Dallas the story of the day Washington's unbeaten season ends Ringling / Buffalo and upset Pittsburgh apparently is right upset Houston and the Giants just did break a 14 all time to defeat Tampa Bay both lost their starting quarterback Costello with a back injury Detroit an easy winner against Minnesota and they play Chicago on Thanksgiving Day it's muster on second and one first [Music] [Applause] [Music] the name organ through a good block out in front of mustard bread muster is reminiscent of Rick casseras who played in the 50s and early 60s Rick was about the same size same kind of a runner now as Chris Harris was more of a slashing runner but this guy can really cover ground Brad muster on a Stanford University he runs about a 4.6 or even less with that size and different likens him to Rufus heiress who is a former Great Chicago bear to think that muster can do that casseras didn't do that often he's a fine receiver yard play and this is Neil Anderson we tip tree marks on the inside at the 25 it appeared to be TJ Turner and Chuck cling pile 99 cling violets in for the injured Oglesby you know people in a sense criticize or poopoo the Chicago offense and that it's boring to me is fully dimensional I think Ditka and greg Landry is coordinator to a great job of putting together a trapping running game a power running game good quick outside tosses and the passing game is extremely well devised so to me this is a fully dimensional offense there are very few left in the National Football League as sort of traditional one it's really shown this year without the great talent Mike because taking his team as far as he second 87 [Applause] was well timed out pattern Harvick took five steps pivoted threw the ball right on time and you'll see to the outside a clean shot Wendell Davis is catching a time pattern regardless of how slippery that surface is out there the play really couldn't be stopped with the timing that Harbaugh had in his throat what is difference bran Baudette from LSU his 40th catch that is one more than all of last year he leads the Bears haha water what an improvement in hovels first down at the 14 in the backfield and he still picked up four yards to the 10 pj trainer and cliff Odom on the tackle Tom Thayer pulled from the right guard position did a fine job of trapping and then muster bounced outside of the trap block so you see fair pulling right there cutting his man and actually I'm turning him to the inside Brian Cox turned in and muster bouncing out now that's good read by the guard good read by mustard if the employee of the drive is veteran Jay Hillenburg leaves him out of the huddle at Slayers guard I'm from Notre Dame [Music] mustard was the closest bear the pressure put on by david petraeus number 92 Laight a linebacker from Virginia now that is very good quarterbacking believe it or not Harbaugh knew just when to spill out of that pocket he looked down the field look at his wide flare man and then came out immediately he didn't wait and get confused then threw the ball away beautiful job on Tampa Bay work heat third down and six you know if the Bears don't score here it's one of the rare times this year they haven't gotten inside the 20 inch score that's a mark of good teams isn't it take advantage that's the strength of this ballgame statistically they're not that great but when they get inside the 20 they typically score for wide receivers mustard is the receiver oh what a good mark at the 3 yard line that'll be a first down and muster with that big body gets between defenders and then leans up inside and catches the ball and that size is really an asset now here's your ball back working down the field now watch him split the defenders and come right up in between them for the ball I told before because if they had him at the floor they spotted just inside the floor and they will measure this Brad muster has turned into a such a utility player running blocking of course but his pass receiver in patterns he was coached by John Elway's father Jack was a player and Stanford academic all-american now they're tough down here did they really are held off at this point four shots from the three yard line Miami's still in a three-man line they're looking for the past and it's muster up the middle [Applause] now that was a curious defensive call Miami stayed in a three-man line and gave that middle that inside area between the guards all a room that muster needed to get a runny start into the hole and the Miami linebackers just simply did not fill the hole a tough defense to play on your own three yard line Treiber point by Butler and sit home all three yard touchdown run by Brad mustard linebacker sitting back look at all the room muster has and he just splits the linebackers and with that power leaves right in touchdown each year corporate America spends over ten billion dollars on overnight shipping yet according to a report in The Wall Street Journal three billion of that is wasted if you find that kind of inefficiency alarming call-ups we can save you up to 40% on overnight deliveries and help prevent your profits from going up in smoke ups we run the tightest shift in the shipping business [Music] [Applause] [Music] at Acura we believe that a luxury sedan should appeal to a driver's appreciation of soft leather fine wood and beautiful stretches of asphalt [Music] the Acura Legend sedan NBC Sports coverage of the National Football League is brought to you by Acura automobiles experience precision crafted performance by Coors Light the Silver Bullet is the right beer now buy starter look for the stars and you'll find starter and buy Tylenol the pain reliever hospitals use most Affairs leading 7-nothing Butler's kick is short it comes down to mark gigs and Logan the Kentucky pair out to the 30-yard line I'm out for 45 remaining in the opening period wouldn't it be great if you invented magic recliners that took you anywhere and a little snorkelling and would it be great if just by pushing a button you got fear really great premium beer like cheese stone cold filtered Keystone and Keystone Light bottle beer tasted a Chan one mappy break the world of makita design innovative always a leader so how do you make the best even better throw away the key Makita it's all the power you need for a limited time receive a free extra battery with your Makita purchase it's a fast-paced get in get out gotta go world we live in so why not sit back and enjoy the ride in a luxury performance car designed to keep up with it the five cylinder 20 valve accurate figure [Music] city with broad shoulders Chicago wearing snowy epaulets today 10 7 nothing is a score as Chicago goes for its tenth win of the year and for those of you have been watching Pittsburgh upsetting Houston 26:14 we welcome you aboard the camber gluco Walsh 7-nothing Chicago is just 4 [Applause] 11-play spread muster a 3-yard Moreno from the 30 Sammy Smith straight ahead for 5-yard line five yards second down and five let's go back to the bear touchdown here it is from the three very curious defensive alignment from the five yard line they're in a three-four defense with the two linebackers sitting back and look at these Boyd areas right here in which Brad muster will just simply attack lean in and go right through into the end zone the very curious defensive call you see Brad untouched going in from the five-yard line against a very saw three-four defense I don't think they'll run that one again second down and [Applause] making the tackle mic McMichael having conceivably his best year if he continues in this fame was seven sacks already typically dick he's not a pass rusher he's a great run defender but this year and he says maybe he Hampton got all the sacks maybe he's going to get some now but this year he's playing a complete game excellent pass rush but dominating the line of scrimmage between him and William Perry you've got a low there are only about three feet off the ground [Applause] Moreno [Music] [Applause] Jennsen with a catch in a first down at the miami 42 yard line Jim Jensen Cayenne red pepper in his shoes keeping those puppies warm David Tate number 49 blitz from the outside which is late getting there now you'll see Moreno where their constant ate right on the backside but just too late getting there that's a fine that's vintage Jensen kechi not nearly as much of it as he used to do but once again a vintage catch and of course Tate was firmer he aligned himself just didn't get there in time just have to squeeze it in before the boss now the initial first down [Music] [Applause] as a former baseball star in high school makes a pretty good hook slide at the 50-yard line Alfred Oglesby we understand the knee injury is serious and will not return what more can happen to this ballclub Shoeless had to battle through the ultra ball thing and any number of minor injuries that have kept people out including his offensive line but Oglesby how can they replace him and still be a playoff team they just don't have the personnel now to fill in that area second down and [Music] and resets [Music] [Applause] [Music] as he's down to the 41 on that scrum William Perry was on the backside of that he was trying to grab him and assist pushing him forward so yet all that weight going oh look at that wait by the way my god you know Perry is a good player now I think that's the best you could say a good player unfortunately if he had 50 pounds off he'd be a great player that's the unfortunate part for the Bears and for William he's adequate now and can make a player too especially early in the game before he gets fatigued but without the way he's a great player and they need a great player to take them very far this year first down at the 40 of Chicago seven [Music] the backfield of Smith and Jim Morrissey makes the tackle after a five yard game let's check the other scores the winners today and for today it's incredible to come on the 13th week of the NFL season Raiders Cleveland a winner upset by New England an upset by Pittsburgh the giant star back in the thick of things at 7 and 5 Detroit eight and four they're still part of the playoff picture and Green Bay and Indianapolis in a battle of losing teams Seattle scores early against Denver Jets jump out to two touchdowns against the Chargers and Philadelphia head of Phoenix by six dr7 nothing Chicago [Applause] [Music] [Applause] Maryna Stinson [Applause] tony was late in thinking he went down the field and never looked at Barrino it was there it was their favorite pattern between the two of these guys was the slant pass now watch plate look he's blocking he didn't have the right assignment everybody but Clayton knew where to go I can't believe it he's blocking in Marino's throwing Stinson's third theft of the year [Music] at Acura we believe that a luxury sedan should appeal to a driver's appreciation of soft leather fine wood and beautiful stretches of asphalt [Music] the Acura Legend sedan super-duper-duper before you buy a combat camcorder asked well it's taste playing my VCR no answer big thank you well it's tapes play on my VCR know what now this is the Panasonic palm quarter camcorder well it's type of play in my VCR yes it's VHS so its tapes can play in all VHS recorders it will when it's the palm quarter from Panasonic they want you you at the meeting you with the client you in two places at once so you can't be held back by some preset limit on a bank card that you what you need is something that's behind you all the way the car the American Express card don't leave home without it since we became employee-owned I think there's a far greater commitment to providing good quality service roving rapid return is really fast I meet you at your car push a couple of buttons can't you every seat and you're out of there so why rent from anyone we didn't owner Stenson's interception is third xi find the Bears defense this year that's down considerably from last year's NFL 31 it gives Chicago the ball at their 33 lady 7 nothing final seconds of the opening quarter Neil Anderson to the 35-yard line probably the last play of this first quarter it's bears weather and Ditka builds his team for the winner they like to run it and they play a stifling defense this Heisman Trophy moment is brought to you by AT&T the right choice at Texas Earl Campbell ran over opponents and as a senior he ran away with a Heisman Trophy presented for the first time on national television graduated this can't say thanks to just one person because there's so many people including him but I will represent where the Heisman Trophy winner should be thank you very much [Applause] so this thing comes in the mail it's a it's a big plan it's gonna save me all this money over 80 if I just do this try this and spend that well as you know I've been meaning to get rid of everything in my life that's easy like running water right why not why not just carry pails down to the stream and electricity it's so predictable yeah let's definitely replace the long-distance service you never even have to think about I like easy AT&T is easy give me a break they're just not AT&T if you're faced Foursquare shaving it would be simple but your face has curves you need the tracer with a blade that flexes to put more of the blade edge against your skin tracer from Schick traces every curve on your face the temperature never drops below zero X that's very important to remember especially at a time like this when it's very deserted and very cold ah did remember Xerox antifreeze the temperature never drops below zero X bus stealers Cowboys Texas Thursday welcome back to Chicago Bears 7-nothing these hearty fans the biggest cheer thus far was just before game time when the public address announcer said the windchill factor is 4 degrees of why they love the fact that they're out here celebrating what did you do as a coach from California to fight the wintry climes well I think dick the key is if the team's well knit well put together in place with confidence they'll be fine we blew the Bears out in 88 and whether much worse than this but Miami doesn't have that kind of team this year so the weather can affect them they're not a complete team you don't have the balance they typically have so were there at the mercy in a sense of the weather bounds at about the 43 yard line that will be very close to a first down the muster is healthy now off the hamstring boy he it occurred in the Raider game preseason and it's been a problem until about the last three or four weeks and now he's a major factor just when they need him with Neal Anderson having his problems physically musters picked up that slack not quite close enough for the first down although I believe they will measure perhaps the yardsticks across the way just the marker not a true point yes and now indeed they move it back to the 33 [Music] first down for Chicago [Music] Mike Ditka when he beat New Orleans down at the Superdome that was really an eye-opener with his Chicago team their fans that made everyone believe that this could be a very serious playoff team and it also proved that Harbaugh could come back and win this Harbaugh had a awful game tella last five or six hands the two or three big passes and pulled quarterback it stands for the test of that as well first down [Music] says TJ Turner falls on it the Chicago 30-yard I think we'll have to have a replay to find out if he actually can't control or possession of the ball but did they read that screen now this is doomed right from the start now you see a crossover move by Anderson then coming out late but look at the attacking linebacker it's just a beautiful job of coming right up inside by Odom and he just puts him away that screen receiver is helpless he's looking for the ball trying to work with his blockers as it developed he doesn't see the man covering it Odom was playing in the middle of that Miami defense for the four-time Pro Bowler John offered all offered all out for the year with a knee injury made the hit there's the review dick because I'm not sure he had it just to see whether he actually caught the ball and had possession Hale appeared he had it took one step and then the tackle and that's all you have to do is take that first step in possession does he have it there's the catch there's the step and then it has to say you had it you'd have to say did it test has to be a good call I don't think you could overturn that there it is Mary loses it but now there's man-to-man coverage on a screen and that's the last thing you want because the defender is attacking the receiver all the fans here in Chicago waited hopefully so Miami with a break trailing 7 nothing 1420 that brings the bear cloud to life [Music] Reno with the wind to Clayton and the most successful touchdown tandem in NFL history Marino and Clayton hook up on a gain of 19 to the 11 yard line that was the deep the deep end pattern Clayton will push well up the field and try to get his man to lean back around a lean back then break it off sharply and Marino's got the ball in the air by the time Clayton makes that break when I came back to make the tackle [Applause] Mike Singletary Sammy Smith [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Music] I'm sure Smith's been asked to control the ball and the ball is popped out he just doesn't protect it he let the ball be exposed to the shoulder pad or the tackler so it was bound to pop out of there you've got to get your pads underneath that ball there right new diet dr. pepper does taste more like regular dr. pepper don't let's have another you guys dr. pepper there's no stopping the taste [Music] to people two airbags the new Pontiac SSCI a higher level of luxury and confidence [Music] made up my mind I'm gonna do it why shouldn't I I'm the one West look at myself in the mirror every morning so before I lose another hair I'm going to the doctor I know doctors have treatment programs that are proven to work more guys are trying them every day I'm not bad now but I wouldn't mind looking better your doctor can really do something about hair loss so see your doctor or call this toll-free number it took all day but they finally came up with one very big idea what he bet they printed on a laser Jan from hewlett-packard citizen citizen citizen citizen elegant citizen it is an elegant [Music] Sammy Smith on the right his fumbles gaining notoriety in South Florida two times city riding loses it at the for Chicago today [Music] across the ten actually me down at the ten yard line as he call a gain of six let's go back to the fumble and what do you mean the shoulder pets have to be under the ball Sammy has an inherent problem in the way he handles the ball dick he does not pretend it you'll notice right here the bow is between him and the tackler the ball is not protected now if Neal Anderson were doing that Gayle wick would take a shoulder first then the ball but in the case of Sammy swift that ball in his left hand he's left handed apparently is he exposed all the way through and we spotted that in that Houston game the same problem if he doesn't correct it he'll always be a bummer and it will show up much more on the goal line because it contacts more intense down give us to muster and he's close to a first down as we check the dr. pepper 10-minute ticker Raiders big Cleveland a nice surprise for the Browns fans and the big story today is the upset of Washington their first loss of the year by the Cowboys you seen Dallas on Thanksgiving Day against Pittsburgh is Pittsburgh an upset of their own knocking off Houston at home you know dick each year there is a point in the season typically about the 12th 13th week where some teams are sort of given up for dead you assume you're going to beat them they still have some life you lose your concentration it's officially everybody to a litter of teams today [Music] [Applause] defense has Mike Reichenbach submarine number 52 to make the stop former Eagle and it appears that he was able to topple muster shy of the first down it is fourth down and it'll still be almost a yard and the punting team comes on for the Bears you know those teams that were upset today three or four top teams it didn't hurt them they're the Washington fail to go undefeated but in the final analysis it may very well sober the team up and renew their concentration and as it did with the 49ers in 1984 and as it did with the Bears in 85 that one loss shocked everybody into concentrating that much more whistle blows before the snap they may have taken too much time and that'll cost Chicago yes it was delay again so Buford will have to punt from deeper in his own endzone and Don Shula has a use deploy here on punt returns because of the wind he's using two men back one at an angle a short man Tony Martin and then Scott Miller back at the 45 trying to prevent that kick that we saw earlier that this short but rolls for 20 yards the receiving man is really concerned about running very far catching the ball on the run in this win so they let it hit then it happens to rolled in Dover in this one is short same thing let it roll and it takes a milder Chicago bounce out to the 45 yard line 37 yards and one of the Dolphins dangerously close besties Jackson to touching the ball timeout it's it and that's that [Music] nothing beats a you want the bar across the street [Music] introducing the world's newest superpower the pontiac sse i with the decisive power of its supercharged engine it takes its place among the most respected performance sedans in the world the supercharged pontiac s SEI a higher level of excitement [Music] the network it's the most powerful tool in business today at GTE we can put Soldier Field Chicago nearly 67,000 their usual salad here along the banks of Lake Michigan temperature falling as we're near sunset and they say tonight's low will be around 15 degrees and the chill factor will be 4 or 5 below zero [Music] position 44 Chicago trailing 7 nothing runningback mark higgs who leads the dolphins in rushing with 534 yards and was their running start early in the year before Sammy Smith was able to play and with that fumble by Smith perhaps Sheila's patience has run short and Higgs will get his chance now Hicks had a great day remember the game you get a deeper opener against boy oh boy he had a fine game against Buffalo up there so this guy - seven but quick strong gets underneath the tackle [Music] second and nine [Applause] feel the pressure coming [Applause] down the field the Bears are just climbing all over the receivers in Reno that time wanted to throw it but he first had to move to avoid the pass rush that wrecked the timing of the play Mike Singletary the Great Chicago Bear linebacker and he's part of a tradition in fact was featured this is the cover of the Bears media guide leads us to our Xerox ports facts there Singletary in the foreground who are the other three Chicago Bear Hall of Fame 6661 [Applause] [Music] [Applause] 20 the second-year man from Southern California carrier from a safety position made a fine break the free safety position on the ball this is goods free safety play he's playing through the receiver for the ball he's not trying to avoid the receiver he goes right to that ball physically through the receiver so when we talk about free Safety's covering the field mark carrier did a perfect job of taking just the right angle on the throat Roby's punt waddle at the 10-yard line all for the fair catch and Chicago will have it at the 10-yard line and we'll be back with our surak's port stacks answer but first this commercial break it's about style it's about power it's about control the security of standard anti-lock brakes it's about $12,000 the all-new Grand Am sports sedan excitement with purpose [Music] my husband Elliott he's an inventor he's made a very good life for both of us last year this big company paid a lot of money for one of his ideas how he hadn't even thought about opening his own company but in the end we decided to invest the money besides I'm not sure Elliot's cut out to work in an office anyway ask your financial advisor about Nuveen tax-free investments but simply call this number [Music] mike singletary for tackles today six away from a hundred that would be nine straight seasons a hundred tackles are more and now the answer to our xerox sports fax the other Hall of Famers Bulldog Turner was 66 and 61 worn by Bill George and Butkus number 51 the guy on the right people say is maybe the single best defensive player ever to live 51 cemeteries this goal with me he said yesterday I'm great but this was master family Brian Cox gets him at the 22-yard line muster plays with so much more conviction now than he did earlier in his career he's just that much more self-assured as he carries the ball now he'll see C's TAC there's one at a time he'll step over male lower his pads into them he's becoming a complete running back but to compare him to Rick Viserys as big a compliment as Mike Ditka can make because Casares was one of the great running backs of our time in a slashing physical runner but he had more stem [Music] that first time pass play Neil Anderson get in the backfield by Cox and then brought down at the 22 yard line Neil Anderson despite that hamstring injury playing today and many thought including us bow that he wouldn't see action today they'd wait til it was warm the indoor game on Thanksgiving Day in against the Lions well he just demanded to play and it could respect that and he demonstrated in practice that he could do these things but I'm sure he won't play the entire game in fact he's coming out right now they're just going to spot him in and out they don't want to fatigue that hamstring muscle or it'll pull again and of course the Bears are well aware though so that free point [Music] that Serbia penalty dregg's he was wendell davis and he's saying that was not pushing him he thinks davis shoved him at the last minute and there were there was some exchange there right in the middle of the picture you see the shove nice job david says a nice job just sort of strain arming Griggs away from I wouldn't call that either way there wasn't a phone but I can see why a guy would be upset with an arm coming up so it'll be third down and ten breaks between Cox and Griggs outside linebackers Don Shula thinks he's got the size and the strength you need to play in the National Football League and his team typically his hand at girth defensively [Music] down at the 27-yard line and a flag is down and it was thrown right near John wool Joukowsky in the backfield of the Bears [Music] personal foul clipping boy and playing into the wind I would think that Don Shula will take this penalty woah joukowski apparently was the guy was part of that foul now here's an interesting he played on the strike team for Chicago back during the 87 season you see number 73 clipping from behind right he's out of the so-called tackle box and in that area you just can't clip and that's a dangerous block for the guy being blocked obviously penalty be flying wow they were flying it even though Buford is kicking into the wind Don Shula not wanting to take any chances on a fourth and or a third and long wants the ball that was dick Stanfield talkin the word to cascade dick stanphill one of the great players as an offensive guard and of one of the finest offensive line coaches in the league on the two or three best going to be a penalty on Maurice Douglas as the fair catch by Scott Miller Miller clearly calling fair Canton Douglas apparently didn't see it we hope fuel as they sorted out will be with us on Thanksgiving Day the late game of the traditional doubleheader will be at Texas Stadium and in the pregame at 3:30 Hall of Fame coach Tom Landry in will McDonough they'll visit in Landry's home boy so much to talk about with one of the great coaches of all time and then well Troy Aikman there but we understand Aikman and the entry today Steve Beuerlein the former Raider finished up that upset of the Washington Redskins will see the Cowboys and the Steelers the great tradition of the 1970s we'll have comments from some of the star players of that Steel Curtain teams and of the Dallas Cowboys stop bucking company on our pregame show Don Shula not at all happy about that 7:46 timeout remaining first 10 hello this is film but downstairs what was that diet dr. pepper it tastes more like regular dr. pepper can I try one I'll send George right down [Music] it has a breathtaking shape it has new overhead-cam power and standard anti-lock brakes introducing the all-new Pontiac Rambam [Music] excitement with for some people the best thing about the morning is that it's over by the afternoon apparently the ruling is an invalid fair catch signal against Miami that Miller appeared to give a valid but perhaps the other man Tony Martin also gave one and then running into the receiver or the returner against Douglas so they negate one another take a look though that's a good enough signal that's fine and what would be the problem there and there's the hit there's a foul on Chicago oh yeah there was a fine signal there what more can you do get on a stepladder he always did protect those kick returners that was what could they have seen not seen day of upsets in a day of upsetting news for NFL quarterbacks Jeff Hostetler injured for a eggman entry to now San Diego ton quarterback John against the tips with an ankle [Applause] [Music] he runs into the umpire still picks up a first down at the 50-yard line Wolford made the tackle after a 12 yard game the play didn't look like it had a chance but Higgs found a way to slip between people and then great back to his right away from the pursuit but you see William Perry coming up the field and taking the wrong side of the block McMichael being walled out and the only problem for Higgs was the umpire as you point out dick already got a little more out of it Gordon Will's getting an assistant first down had been field 7 nothing Chicago mid point of the second quarter Hicks again Roper 55 Shaun Gayle 23 coming up to support along with Tracy Armstrong 93 Armstrong 93 in the questionnaire asked by the Bears PR people he was asked what's it what's the best feeling about being a bear he said oh it's easy said you get to sleep all winter and fish with your hands I'll tell you he's a fine run defender here's another guy that's winning with a knee problem and just coming back just the time they need [Music] Paige he's to the 40 that'll be very close to a first down as we check the dr. pepper ten-minute occur missus verification well we won't show you all the early scores of all the upsets today Seattle still leading by a field goal jets by fourteen to three against the charges and the other late game Philadelphia beating Phoenix down in Arizona the Jets are still gonna make it I'll tell you I agree with OJ rarely do I agree with OJ but in this case I do I think they're going to make the playoffs and causeless done a an excellent job and Steinberg both with general manager and bringing that club back making them competitive I guess Bill Parcells doesn't actually believe OJ and the Jets and I understand OJ is going to drag him right by the hand and take him right out to the Jets practice field then next Sunday we'll see the results of that as he tries to offer immediate evidence of the Jets abilities well very dramatic eating they'll have at third I wonder if they buy the episode of getting off well you've never nursed you know for week to week another chapter [Music] so third and short remember Moreno trailing seven nothing [Music] defense by Chicago everybody up the Singletary ready to scrape into the hole [Applause] [Music] [Applause] just too much to ask that offensive line out the Dolphins to take on that group with Perry McMichael inside and Singletary scraping into the hole didn't even get started trey songz don't get a fine so it's forth in inches and Don Shula says go for it look at him just riding up [Music] the burritos can handle [Applause] they give it to Paige pammi market it looks as if they're going to spot it inside the 40 and that would be a first name the premier well he ran the right play they didn't take on the two inside guys but believe me they barely made it Paige the veteran from Virginia Tech who has already carried twice and that's a almost a half a season for him a man who has rushed but four times prior to this game being used as a blocker and as a receiver piece really a what an asset to this team I when Detroit gave him up we call that dick a couple years ago I couldn't believe it blocker but anything else is an absence sound [Music] Moreno slides in at the 32-yard goes down [Applause] we might have had a hold on the outside we might handle one on you by dooper looked as though he tried to hook his man [Applause] yard scramble by marine yards tough enough to buy when Marino's on the road well mark Cooper was on the wrong side of the defender and he still tried to get the block down he want to do what he could holder Moreno under 85 10-yard penalty from the pot so from the spot of the foul least you see dick Cooper's on the wrong side of the block now he's gonna have to try to get over and get in the head and he can't do anything but oh gee I I don't know how you'd call that there wasn't any contact you didn't well yeah yeah hands on him briefly all his hands were across the back but if you look around the field you'll see that virtually every players doing that every play mark from the file at secondhand [Music] we know complete to Clayton and place enhance the first down at the Chicago 23 yard line well that's vintage merino a beautiful shot down the field well-timed the ball was in the air before the receiver had even planted his foot and that's the timing that you're always looking for on those deep outs now look at this balls in the air and his part way there and now the break is being made a beautiful job and of course these two guys Clayton and Marino or maybe the two best of all time at least related to what they've accomplished right came in together as rookies in 83 Clayton an eighth round pick out of Louisville in first Marino that great plastic quarterbacks first what's / was tackling Marino Asbury Gruffudd timed is blitz the ball was stamped he had a full head of steam up so he split that gap between guard and center and you'll see him come right through here and really untouched they beat the blockers to the point of attack and then McMichael was there to greet Hicks for a loss at the 26 yard line what the heat the heat is on Dan Marino because where this injury and written offensive line Dan's going to have to carry the team and he doesn't get the protection he once did it's up to him to make the plays Danny Smith is in the game [Applause] for Higgs [Applause] and overshoots mark duper 2:07 remaining in the half from Chicago we go to New York and NFL mm all right dick the eight and three Broncos at Seattle Seahawks five and six Dave Craig from the spread formation we'll find Jeff Chadwick after dallying around a little bit trying to find the receiver he does at the back of the end zone four yard TD Seattle jumps in front early in the second ten nothing back to Soldier Field all right Bobby another potential upset in the making [Applause] [Music] got three linemen get back to the ball game [Applause] Shaun Gayle and by John Mangum number 26 says clock runs down to the two-minute timeout when we come back it'll be for more than about four Miami hello this is film but downstairs what was that diet dr. pepper it tastes more like regular dr. pepper can I try one I'll send George right down [Music] it has a breathtaking shape it has new overhead-cam power and standard anti-lock brakes introducing the all-new Pontiac Grand Am [Music] excitement with bonus for some people the best thing about the morning is that it's hold just outside the so a 35-yard it's solidly right down the center by one of the top placement kickers in the game's story Jana he's missed only eight the last two years seven three Chicago working to be the best they can be teammate sponsored by the US Army wide receivers Charlie Joyner at West Chandler and tight end Kevin Winslow were the highest flyers in Air Koryo during their careers they made the Chargers passing game take Wayne de-mining for an incredible 1500 catches over 22 thousand yards at 126 touchdowns individually each could make the spectacular play together his teammates they made the Chargers the best they can be [Music] this is the new Pontiac Bonneville inspiring to the eye and to the touch even to your peace of mind the all-new pontiac bonneville the higher level of excitement now get to point nine financing for up to 48 months dealers day the Bears lead cut to for almost a full two minutes left hand Chicago with all three of its timeouts as they await the kickoff as Toyota hitting from 35 which means that this young man from Indiana University is 19 for 23 this year 21 for 25 last year so that's 44 48 we're still Jana and many of them have been long long rich he is solid from 50 and higher well he had to really drive that field goal against the wind he kept up low and just took the ball right into the wind and the driving kind of a kick so he really got touch with what was what he does with the ball Anthony Morgan Lee speedster rookie from Tennessee and Dennis chantrey the veteran are deep for Chicago [Music] to Jeffrey [Applause] the 20m Christine who played at Illinois a rookie makes the tackle well a whole new lineup on Sunday night why don't you sample it I think you'll enjoy the tour Coulson's a full hour at 7 o'clock 6 central and the country is hotter than ever of country superstars Clint Black Katie ozland Alabama Kenny Rogers Doug stone hosts the premiere of NBC's hot country night 1 our country music extravaganza followed by a provocative NBC world premiere movie deception a mother's secret that's tonight on NBC [Music] err start from the 22 I'm Marissa and all America [Music] second time that play has not worked this time Mike Reichenbach I smelled it and made up big hit Miami was in a three-man line that looked like a deep prevent zone but they're playing man-to-man Oh watch Reichenbach he's watching for that screen and he attacks it now that's the job of Harbaugh to spot man-to-man coverage on that screen just blindly throw the ball over that loss of seven on the play goes a little deeper this time by former their bestie Jackson I have the 25 it'll be third down and seven now this becomes a critical down because if the Bears don't make it Moreno is going to have another shot [Music] so this becomes the most critical down of the game so far because Marino with one more chance and get get another three on the board my cold killer it and our ball we asked Mike if he is indeed growing in a more mellow fashion he said I'm only shot at once all year that was Harbaugh and he shouted back at me [Music] 37 plenty of time for Harbaugh one definition cream Chris green forty-three 18-yard no one near gentry well that was a they ran three receivers to one side of the field and Miami's that man under defense we talked about and they ran basically a pic play you'll see a man come out of it completely uncovered because Chris Green got caught up in all the traffic to the inside so Greg Landry upstairs I'm sure has adapted to this man-to-man defense that mommy's been playing is called just garage boy eleven seconds left in the half [Music] right back into his arms oh my it is a bear day that bob was free in the air and as hard ball falls it falls right back in his lap well the pressure was there just by three people you'll see cross on a line stunts really forced Harbaugh right back into the other two guys bring some frost pudding give the mustard [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] and dozen of Perry's running no one can bring him down let's just what mike ditka says that's why it was a number one pick to the surprise of a lot of NFL people they saw that that long stride was so deceptive and once once muster has gotten his confidence then it becomes arena uses abilities now that was ripped to saris just just the way brick ran in the early sixties same kind of slashing running with a deceptive strike still haven't had to use a timeout 45 seconds left leading seven three in trying to build on the lead Harbaugh cross Jeff cross and it's ruled a forward pass incomplete the Leidenfrost who was a big pass-rush of the last two years at eleven and a half last season the year before tend to lead that miami but only three this year he's getting a lot of double-teaming watch it Kowski just isn't doing that great a job on cross there's no question about it cross has been a factor even with just three men rushing the passer and that shouldn't be a case they're going to have to get a guard out of there or something to help to that left side stay in Thomas the rookie from Texas has come into the world [Music] there's a quest [Music] the apartment replacing the injured Jarvis Williams comes up from safety to make the stop after just a four yard game there's a timeout by Chicago 33 seconds left in the half the Bears growling with a 7-3 leave this Christmas Tandy computer some of the best-selling pc compatibles in America are on sale at RadioShack for complete systems with color monitors start at just $5.99 ninety all come with 24 unique home organizer programs the more powerful rlx system is the perfect home office machine and with hard drive it's just 1199 95 the Tandy 1000 family of computers so easy to use we guarantee success Randy just a moment ago the the Dolphins running a man demand under defense as they call it the Bears put three receivers and watch the screen play with Gentry breaking to the outside in the Miami defenders getting caught up in traffic and getting there awake so it's well executed basically the old fashioned pit play now they call it a screen type play against that particular defense I was on 37 kept this drive alive [Music] and six there's no play whistles blow before the snap as someone charged through each a junior the veteran from Alabama number 54 and 51 Brian Cox urban coachman number 54 on the defense fire every yard counts at this point on the field because a long field goal can be a factor so you don't want to give those five yards up that easily especially with to a kicker Butler who has a sore hip and is kicking into the wind they'd like to get the ball down at least to the 20 that would be a 37-yard field goal as Butler it loosens up this can't get reckless at this point the tight ball game [Applause] it was the mark green named star tripped up at the 28th it'll be close to a first down clock continues to run time called as the Bears will exercise their second time on so it's seven three in Chicago still in position to get more this season give the Olympics triple cast of the 92 Summer Games call 1-800 limbic order the gold package and get a set of Olympic pins a commemorative book the 92 highlights date and two solid weeks of all the best events order now and get a free Olympic warm-up jacket give the Olympics triple cast catch the fire behind the flame welcome back and if you've been away through this day it has been a remarkable Sunday of upsets big teams falling leaders in their divisions and Bob Costas and company will give you all the details scores and highlights at halftime Domino's Pizza will present all the school to kick apparently so on for from the 29 the Bears go for it [Music] [Applause] bounds to stop the clock with 18 seconds left in the half great job by Anderson of just sprinting for the sidelines once he broke that contained and Brian Cox got his helmet inside and got cut he cut himself off tit and allowed I understand to get outside and sprint to the sideline all he had to do was come up the field and keep his head helmet and his body to the outside and cut that play off because you don't him to stop the clock there 18 seconds and one timeout left for Chicago we'll be about a 42-yard field they are currently please going for six [Applause] scooter Magruder who played in the Canadian Football League he's accustomed to those snowdrifts in the end zone but Groot had played that beautifully he's keeping outside in position I watch him just cut the play off right at the last instant going through the receiver but playing the ball on this excellent pass defense Mel Phillips of the Miami staff has done a great job with these defensive backs McGruder had 18 interceptions with Saskatchewan he's out of Kent State 13 seconds left in the half on second intent see that out-of-bounds play hurt them because they'd have had to use their other timeout by now [Music] it was almost there JB Brown had the opportunity Jackson had deflected besties Jackson and Harbaugh saying one more play eight seconds left they had their chance but there's a defender sitting outside to stop it oh gee how close the game can be but that winds swirling like that it's really hard to get a judge on a ball it's been batted doesn't appear to be that much wind from the upper right I think they're gonna go for the endzone here dick and hope they've got time left to try a field goal [Applause] [Music] position is Wendell Davis well it goes all the way back to that short yardage situation Miami let bounced to the sideline and Anderson got out of bounds because there wouldn't be a field goal right here if they just contained the play Butler's scorecard on the season he's missed but six times to the long of 50 and this one will be relatively short although he's kicking into a wind North to Northwest they say if the kickoff time 15 to 20 miles an hour so this one will be around 32 yards it was critical on that last play that the receiver not run with the ball after the catch unless he could score because they abused the whole clock up along the way so the ball was caught the tackle was made and they got their time well engineer drive-by Ditka and Greg Landry is offensive coordinator and executed by Harbaugh under two minutes to go and they took over at the 22 yard line they moved it down to a reasonable field goal attempt here of 32 yards Harbaugh to hold for Butler Chicago gets the three back the favorite beers leading Miami ten to three and we'll be back after a message from the National Football League and a word from you local station I'm this is the Domino's Pizza NFL live halftime report brought to you by Domino's Pizza nobody knows like Domino's how you like pizza at home with OJ Simpson and Bill Parcells Bob Costas in New York quickly to the scoreboard the game you folks are watching bears 10 dolphins 3 halftime at Soldier Field halftime at the Kingdome in Seattle and the Seahawks with a 13 nothing lead over the Broncos San Diego and the Jets have gone to the third quarter New York leads in this one 14 3 at the Meadowlands Philadelphia has scored twice on fumbles Seth joiner brought one back 34 yards Clyde Simmons recovered another one in the end zone at Phoenix they lead the Cardinals 20 to 7 now these are finals from earlier today the Raiders over the bengals 3814 scoring 38 points you'd think the traitor might have had a big day wrong only completed four passes and 10 tries for 29 yards no touchdowns no interceptions but Tim Brown brought back a punt 75 yards for TD they recovered a fumble and took that in for a touchdown they win in a romp 38 to 14 Cincinnati now 1 and 11 and the Raiders take their record to 8 and for Kansas City with a costly defeat at Cleveland the Browns win this one 20 to 15 Christian Okoye fumbled twice inside the 5 yard line in the first half and that is really where they blew the game Steve de Burgh threw a couple of interceptions there were 5 Kansas City turnovers all together Dallas hands Washington its first defeat 24 21 they were in control most of the way Jimmie Johnson's team now 7 and 5 in the Redskins 11 and 1 so still nobody except shoeless dolphins has gone all the way through in the modern history of the NFL Emmitt Smith had a big day when over a thousand yards rushing for the season had 132 yards on the afternoon including that 32 yard touchdown the tied the game at 7 troy aikman goes out with a sprained knee after a high-low hit by the defenders he's replaced by Steve Beuerlein and Beuerlein throws this touchdown pass to Michael Irvin who juggles it at the 6 and takes it in that gave them a 21-7 lead they hold on and win 24 21 at RFK surprised I'm a little surprised they particularly in light of the way Dallas had played the last two weeks going in there in the third straight road game beaten Washington but now Dallas as Pittsburgh on Thursday if they could get that one they have 10 days rest finished with New Orleans Philadelphia and it pretty good shape for the playoffs juice is I said I'm not shocked I'm a little surprised that they were able to beat Washington in RFK but any time a team plays a team twice the game gets personal I don't think the records mean anything you know as I said before I liken it to a good college game UCLA well not a great game UCLA USC Notre Dame you know when they play Miami or someone you know you can throw the records out of the window when you get teams playing each other twice well same story then with Buffalo and New England they play twice every year couple of weeks ago in Buffalo the bills were able to win but the Patriots gave them a tough time and today they intercepted Jim Kelly four times and they beat the bills 16 to 13 and Buffalo is now ten and two Houston loses at Pittsburgh so the Oilers are nine and three now the Oilers have it locked up really in the AFC Central but they're still battling for the best possible final record so they can have home-field advantage so this could be a costly defeat the Steelers intercepting Warren Moon five times the moon also lost a fumble 26 to 14 the Giants win at Tampa Bay 21 to 14 now Jeff Hostetler was hurt in this ball game you'll take a look at him being taken off the field Broderick Thomas hit him as it turns out he has a broken bone in his lower back no neurological damage but obviously he is out for a while he was replaced by Phil Simms Simms had a good second half and he threw this game-winning touchdown pass to Steven Baker a 30 yarder with 16 seconds to play and the Giants went at 21 to 14 to take their record to 7 & 5 a victory on the same field will you coached your last game for them in the Super Bowl this past January well nothing Phil Simms does of that nature surprises me minute 50 seconds to go his team 90 yards from the end zone I've seen him do it many times Bob one year as a matter of fact he was 85% of fishing on the two-minute offense either at the half or the end of the game so that's a big win for the Giants today that keeps them in a playoff on okay the Detroit Lions are eight no indoors oh and four outside 34 14 over the Vikings today at the Metrodome check these numbers for Barry Sanders 23 carries 220 yards and four touchdowns including a 45 yard touchdown run the Colts and the Packers when I was a kid this was a big game Shula Lombardi Unitas star Lenny Moore Jim Taylor today yeah Green Bay 14 Colts 10 and we're back after these messages local station based on a true story a daughter's rape the police department's failures masterda rape maybe 60 women a mother's justice he's been so sorry what she does will shucky our mothers justice NBC monday we didn't look at it like everyone else that was too confining [Music] instead we opened up the Infinity g20 with a luxurious cabin forward design and the exhilaration of a hundred and forty horsepower engine it's designed to give you breathing room and take your breath away all at the same time deceptions a mother's secret NBC Sunday night has fallen here in Chicago were ready for the second half the Bears leading the Miami Dolphins ten to three and the difference in the game was a fumble by Miami and it's part of the sad saga of Sammy Smith his third fumble this year all three have been inside the 5-yard line let's go back to it this is the difference in the game Sammy as you can see he's concentrating on protecting the ball but you see when contact is made dick Sammy's body is going the balls between his body and the tackler shoulder pads and is found a fly out of there whoa wait a minute okay so I'm Sammy Smith it looks it looked to me like he was trying to protect the boys handed the ball always here all right but when people make contact with Sammy down in close to that goal line their pads and their helmet make contact with the ball and the helmet or should I do the body the shoulder should be protected this way contact me made this way or this way you see but never but somebody's past run to erectus direct and their pads get under his shoulder pads and they make contact with the ball and out if you hit me once more and I'm not talking to you again let's go till the half times the test a scores slight statistics would show how even other than that fumble by Smith the game has been total yards very little separation there and possession time the same a couple of turnovers by Miami one by Chicago the Bears building a bit of momentum just before halftime as they pick up the fuel goal by Butler on a long drive in the final two minutes and for Sammy Smith one must wonder he fumbled eight times last year three critical fumbles this year the patience of Miami fans is already short he's a fine young guy but he's making such critical mistakes well it's the same habit did he's going to have to correct it he's very vulnerable to having that ball knocked loose when contacts mate and that's something that can be corrected so it's not as though it's hopeless so to start the second half the Bears get the ball and Miami will have the win Dennis gentry and the Anthony Morgan are deep pistoi yana resetting the ball on the tee [Music] and it's for Chantry Jeffrey Wiggles out to the 22 yard line and Harbaugh in the offense comes on the floor on the field for Chicago dr. pepper and your local Dr Pepper bottler bring you this NFL game of the month dr. pepper is just what the doctor ordered the Bears nine and two at the start this moment having beaten New Orleans also 9 and - the Bears have the second best record in the NFC which would give him the buy in the opening week of the playoffs [Music] the leaders in the NFL corralled by dusty Jackson at the 27 yard line vesti Jackson made the tackle but the problem is and I'm sure that the Miami defensive coaches would agree Tom Olivetti Oliver Dottie excuse me the best he's not getting there quick enough they're allowing a five-yard gain before he supports he's got to get across that line of scrimmage read the blocking and get their five yards sooner and that's why the Bears have been able to stretch those toss plays out and then get five yards by the time the whistle blows there's so corners have got to get them I don't know if there's a problem with muster but James rouse number 32 hundred and twenty pounds second-year man from Arkansas as a fullback second and five Morgan the speedster motion at standard [Music] as he hits the 30 and he's not close to the 32 that'll be apparently about a half yard shy of a first down we're going to be close Henderson seems fine he's really running tough and hard horse instinctively he does but you don't want a fatigue that hamstring cos if it pulls again you'll be out another three or four weeks he used a lot of acupuncture apparently through his career for various injuries and did he get enough for the first down that's going to be close a link er there a link shy or some discussion Iowa's J Elgon burg who knows about small measurements Helgenberger goes plays closer to the bowl than anyone is the center he came out to take the second look converts we understand looking forward to the holidays everyone played center and I'd like to be a part of that tradition where they meet each other and shake between the lake between the legs been anchoring that line [Music] I bought two sneaks it in got the necessary yardage for a first down Mike Ditka in his tenth year he's wearing a 51 years on his back the number of the great Dick Butkus surprisingly not retired by the Chicago Bears in fact worn today by Jim Morrissey Morris he said he couldn't believe when they gave him that number as a rookie out of Michigan State well and once when once since Morrissey and Butkus are very much alike they're both absolutely intense dedicated players not me stop there because obviously but this was it gifted gifted football player but Morrissey's the kind of guy that that that sort of Mel's the team together you need people like that on a given team not necessarily the great athlete but the guy that does everything as requested it's dedicated to the game again it's always positive and concentrated if we asked him was he surprised when the game 51 he said nine I asked Butkus and that summer camp do you mind if I were and Butkus you might Carroll the surprise have been a lot of retired numbers here jersey numbers perhaps offended someone first down our boss play-action and it's caught but was it inbounds ruling is out of bounds that even though there was contact by the defender Browns tackle didn't force the man out of bounds as there's the break is well covered well covered in that the catch would have just would clearly have been out of bounds unless he'd have been he couldn't he couldn't have done it I don't think unless you've been six foot seven [Music] these acrobatic receivers now the way they were able to have every part of their body out-of-bounds he had still dragged their toenails it's a real art understand that Brad muster the reason he's not in there to start the second half a strained left hamstring he is questionable to return so whose aim injury that's plaguing Anderson and him he's had that throughout the early season those injuries the hamstring pull the back of the fly are the most difficult to read as to when you have fully recovered [Music] we're reviewing this and now they're calling the cats good the curses on the field reverse their decision the catch well I've got into the act get a good look all of us can take a good look at it he's in the air judgment call and [Music] from the bear 45 Anderson juggling toss from Harbaugh and barely gets back to the line of scrimmage [Music] Brian Cox just filled right into that hole aggressively and that's what Miami needs people just to attack the line of scrimmage when you see the blocking and see the ball again Brian Cox Don Shula indicates this again is the kind of athlete he needs 6-3 235 pounds explosive quick first year guy got a future between him and Gregg's we got two fine young outside linebacker death round pick a good one [Music] first very little therefore the 220 pound x arkansas star he was an eighth round pick by the Bears last year [Music] this week it appears Miami is playing better defense than a week ago because a week ago they're decimated by the bills this week in all these circumstances windchill factor under 10 they're playing much better football than a week ago so there's still there's still something out there if they can just put it together very successful [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] can't use your blockers any better than that now look at his quick feet and as Mike Ditka says or some Staubach and the way he moves see the body body balance the quick feet and when he can do this just once or twice a game now you've got the Montana the Starbuck kind of the Bradshaw that can make the big run the big play when you needle and this year he throws more often when he has to move than a few years ago [Music] and complain intercepted by Lois Oliver went through the hands of the tiny Jeanne is Thornton number 80 and Tolliver was there hid his hands and a possible fifth interception of the season that's a tough throw a tough throw and tough car but minimal fake now he's going to drop it over a defenders head you see that and meanwhile he's looking right at Lois Oliver 225 pounds of Lois Oliver to make the big hit Oliver couldn't quite connect three times Oliver had his mitts on it are both very competitive almost to a fault but if his eyes brighten when he told us that story [Music] second down for the 37 yard line [Music] mic Reichenbach in on the tackle along with Brian Cox you know the statistics for the Bears have not been that impressive even the turnover ratio is a - I think - three coming into the game but they've scored when it got inside their 20 their receivers have caught the ball and not dropped it there's some very critical areas that have kept them in every game and you know they've been behind it I think those eight games this year initially and come back to win so some statistics possess [Music] in Washington had beaten the Bears [Applause] [Music] he just doesn't drop anything he makes catches in practice in fact two days ago at practice I watched him dive through the air in fact just to make a catch and Mike Ditka says he doesn't have to do that and watch him read this and go right up inside for the ball but here isn't 100% 100% dedicated football player I think he's been waived three times by the board and brought back no one wanted him dead Chicago [Music] most upset by anyone Anderson no mister doesn't fool the Miami Dolphins Brian Cox infiltrated and made the tackle for a loss as we check the hurts ten-minute IKAR beam's Denver has finally scored at Seattle Seattle is favored by three points in that game we understand and the Jets still holding on to the 14-3 lead against the Chargers and the big upset today in Washington Redskins taste their first defeat of the season Dallas feeding them New England upsets Buffalo Pittsburgh upsets Houston Giants hold on 20 [Music] there's [Music] second and long for Harbaugh the hands of Wendell Davis as bestie Jackson was there I was Thornton the tight end that's true that hit too much on the ball a Harbaugh he was good judgment I think Greg Landry's coaching really shows up he moved and through where a year or two ago he had removed and run again but then he had too much on the ball as you're running toward the receiver you've got to take something off the ball because your momentum is carrying the ball that much harder into the receiver long drive for the Bears is thought he comes out limping Jennings wiring the season [Music] 4l machine is in [Applause] [Music] he's not a person [Music] nice job holding that ball to the last instant by Harbaugh and the touch on that one was beautiful just a beautiful job because he had traffic all around him or take a look right at that point where hardball will have all the pressure now the man in motion will cross the field but look at this pressure throwing out just lobbing it up out there to the man in motion who cut back across the field the Lindo Davis not great speed among those receivers with great speed but they catch everything he comes from now look at this pressure take a shot was EJ Junior now it's Anderson in first down twisting to the 16-yard line and on this drive that started the second half which now has consumed over seven minutes the Bears on third down are four for four well this kind of this style of offense that as I say some people don't think is enlightened or something is methodical you use the clock and you mix up the pass in the run a lot of diversified kinds of runs and nobody got zero in on any of them and then you execute the bear receivers catch everything that they have a chance with in Harbaugh's poise this is why they've got this wing lost record there's ten dolphins three second down [Applause] [Music] [Applause] across the line of scrimmage very close and then overshoots in the end zone is intended receiver Neal Anderson where is that rouse James rouse was deep Ross was open but but by that time Harbaugh just can't see the field today he's by now he's escaping for his life and then he spots it him in the end zone but once you run that the key dick to this for the viewer the quarterback enthusiast is it as he runs just before he throws the ball he's got to relax then throw because all the muscles are tightened up if you run and then throw it typically goes over the receivers head downfall for the Bears who are four on this Drive [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] stretchers on the inside to the outside pass rush in the big hole right up the middle but look at those quick feet you always want a quarterback that can move and make the play spontaneously he's a big man six three and 220 first and goal Chicago and you know he didn't get these kind of cheers at one point early on they didn't think he could do it they were wondering about the draft choice they picked him they had McMahon here and Doug Flutie and 17th play of this drum Anderson [Music] just inside the 5-yard line Bobby Hardin came up to assist David Griggs Ditka had to look at a lot of quarterbacks before he finally picked this man look at that group in his ten years family mr. Inglish including the Harbaugh I see a great grandeur in there was a fine quarterback in his day McMahon but my guess is or my feeling is Papa's gonna clearly be the best of that group the Quartermaine's and he'll be that way for it'll be at the top of his game for ten years because he's big and he's sound physical [Applause] [Music] [Applause] defense again mother did about the 2-yard one yes Reichenbach was in there first well if they can see that defective defense again from upstairs I'm sure they'll run a quickening play right up the middle a big void over the guard positions if they stay and had three for defense [Music] Gregg Landry now is looking for the substitution seeing it coming in from across the field they decide what play to run they go to three tight ends Thornton Jennings and number 75 Ron Madison a tackle acquired from the Jets of former Seattle Seahawk is an eligible receiver he's on the left 75 metals families and their goal line defense yes Anderson one yard line it looked as if he was going to go in a otome number 93 submarining got there he was across the line of scrimmage before the doll care fourth and goal from outside the one you with a seven-point lead Ditka wants to make sure he gets something and have more than a touchdown advantage sure you wouldn't even think of anything here other than three points 19-yard attempt by Kevin Butler 32 [Music] almost the entire drive [Music] [Music] in Japan where the luxury performance sedan has been revolutionized by Lexus and Infiniti a new luxury performance sedan has just won Japan's highest honor introducing the new diamante from Mitsubishi car of the year [Applause] Mitsubishi the word is getting around how about that signature and that do it [Music] like you know you never Mitsubishi Motors diamond emblem has symbolized its unbending standard of quality introducing the highest expression of that standard the diamante we're meticulous design and craftsmanship lead to extraordinary comfort diamonte the new luxury performance sedan from Mitsubishi the word is getting around an Moreno and that productive drive by Chicago 20 plays 11 minutes not only took away almost all of the quarter and the wind advantage for Marino but kept the offense on the sidelines freezing for some 2025 minutes and they got three points to boot Barbeau having a solid game hit a couple of good strikes to the bank [Applause] [Music] Cooper's first catch of the game and it's a first down at the Chicago 49 few people can throw the ball like that a play fake help just bought help whole line back to just for instant but this is a matter of timing bursting up the field and that ball is going to be thrown high up into the shoulders you don't want that ball to be dying down around the knees catch it right up into the pot and these guys have done that so many times he's going to have to get four or five of those more I would think before the days over to get back in the game this gets outside balanced by mark aches to the 39 yard line so Higgs not Sammy Smith starting the second half the late scores on our hurts 10-minute ticker still Seattle by six the Jets now by two touchdowns and Phoenix closes the gap on the Eagles all in the third quarter here 13 to 3 Chicago is getting colder no question about that and cold day for Sammy Smith fumble inside the five yard first Miami again [Applause] barrels inside the 35 for a Miami first then with 229 left in the third period mark carrier came up from his safety spot to make the tackle the place that of work best really are are the ball carrier breaking away from the hole and the defenders reacting to the blocking and the ball carrier basically bouncing outside and that's what's been working for Miami the bear defenders are clogging that metal playing off the blockers and then when the Miami runner bounces there's just a little room just outside the tide in position though outside the week tactic is a fool the platon was inbound yes dick that was a beautiful pattern by Clayton he started up the field and burst in broke just beautifully done and appeared he did a little stutter step before the right foot prickled onto the sidelines but he lo then burst like it was a deep go pattern then stopped and broke out and that's your skilled polished receiver now they're gonna review it [Music] that stops the clock with 138 left here's a closer look right there yeah it's so hard from that angle to see if that right foots scraped the grass before he stepped on the line with that right toe had been in we'd have been all right left foots definitely down yeah it doesn't well there's the right toe that we're in just buy it you know but did he scrape it it before he landed the full weight on it that's something that the review officials is that the irrefutable evidence will soon learn well we'll learn it's not always like I bet they have a heater in their booth Marino trying to keep warm and while we have a chance that'll give us an opportunity for our Xerox sports facts in the second half who was the last dolphin to started quarterback other than Dan Marino you know he's got a hundred and twenty game streak longest by far of active quarterbacks that does not include the strike games 120 in a row merit to not only Marino's ability but to his a welfare who's the last Miami quarterback other than Marino to start a game for the dolphin well I'm not going to say I think I know and the answer is unstruck good I didn't say who I thought it was who'd you have huh Bernie Missoula 83 that's quite a run for Marino since his rookie year and are still looking here's another angle not give it to a god just give it to him I mean it's so close why would you reverse that I just didn't see the irrefutable evidence you couldn't tell if he's straight to splitter or not from our pictures but going on and on with that you're down to the dan Marino and Clayton understandably in disbelief so no first down there got to reset the chains and it'll be second [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] skill says first now second the hands of Clayton who slipped the ball was behind him he was open so third and 10 that was the same basic pattern in Marino had to move just a little bit he was off balance when he threw it was behind Clayton still got room for it but what the ball can't get there you just can't get back to it [Music] liking the Don Sheila sang in the 8th round they're just looking for a nice warm body that one talked about his athleticism he wasn't big he wasn't fast Clayton by the great athlete and working close to 500 career catches that completes a dooper that's going to be close to a first down Kmart digress and he did that bowl there right in this wind swirling like this and he just drills that body just drills if the ball just doesn't lose any of us any of us velocity when it gets there it carries to the opponent well Japan shallow started as just a youngster when he coached 60 70s and 80s what quarterbacks Johnny Unitas in Gracie and Dan Marino [Applause] the Blitz and wide open Stinson whistles inaudible inside the 10 close to the 7 I think it was I think it was Tony page inside as a past protector that that did the protection job on a blitzing linebacker that I didn't cry I just caught the end of the play but you'll see this and you'll see this block often and it just watched the Blitzer and the blocker right there has to be done right there beautiful job so first and goal he's trailing 13 five seconds play-action [Music] [Applause] and Stimpson gets him just inside the five Wolford was all over that way no question about it [Music] that will be the third quarter bears leading 13 3 we return after these messages your local station Monday while the folks are away the kids are on their best behavior fighting machine isn't well until Bell Biv DeVoe dropped by for house party hysteria Fresh Prince Monday [Music] the beer I quality has passed the most demanding tests automakers can throw at it at Quaker State we don't just say we're tough we're tested tough the big Q is one tough motor-oil married with children weeknights at 6:30 on channel 5 the Chicago Bears looking for their eighth of divisional title in nine years the dominance of Mike Ditka's bears and they lead 13 to 3 with a quarter to go but Miami arrests second and goal the ball just inside the five [Music] so factor zero [Applause] Higgs behind and Higgs gets the call he stopped for John Roper number 55 singleterry without a piece of him as well well Singletary just broke the playout by penetrating scraping right into the hole from his middle linebacker position and there was nowhere to go but to stop and avoid him said when he wins Singletary attacks everything breaks loose frigerator Perry and Singletary Morris Morris he come out Tim Jensen is in the specialist on third [Applause] any complaint [Applause] broken solid cover Danelle Wolford and she'll descends in the field-goal unit trying to stay within a touchdown Chicago came with three defensive linemen and eight defensive backs that time now a running quarterback on the quarterback draw or a trap play inside would have had a chance but he just refilled the field with the offensive actors know where to throw the ball those stories 22 depending on the spot [Applause] and the dolphins and the Bears trade field goals 13 decepcionado [Music] while the best thing do is I just feel man what the doctor oh just what the doctor ordered [Music] [Applause] [Music] Norrell co doesn't just shave you close but incredibly close or merely shave you in comfort but in exceptional comfort because the norelco razors patented lift & cut system lifts the hair so art director as Pete's Tyana kicks it off 14 minutes 8 seconds left in the fourth quarter my name is pulled back within a touchdown 13 to 6 Dennis Gentry at the [Music] [Applause] stay out of it [Music] [Music] look for the stars and you'll find that was then this is now [Music] prevention that motor prevention now introducing the pump the from Old Spice it beats the leading aerosol yogurt actually prevents odor better with the superior formula that's right on target unlike that messy cloud pop up your odor prevention with the Old Spice some trucks don't know when to quit I was strong as I could be nobody ever got to me over 98% of all this Chevy truck sold in the past 10 years are still on the job Chevy trucks the trucks you can depend on the trucks at last [Music] we're back at Soldier Field Chicago with a reminder 3:30 Thanksgiving Day it'll be NFL live an exclusive interview with Paul of Famer Tom Landry Landry with his thoughts after a forced retirement and then two teams with upset wins today the Cowboys stop Washington and the Steelers upset Houston Eastern Time Thanksgiving Day the Bears with a ball and a touchdown lead it's Davis tackled immediately at the 44 yard line by bestie Jackson a gain of about six [Music] right three mid kenan 45 it was commercially represented everything from shaving lotion the ham sandwiches to threats were found right hand on the freeway you've got a picture all over the place we welcome those of you have been watching the New York Jets and San Diego Chargers the Jets well in the lead they're here it's 32 since you can't go ahead the second down a short for the first time in a couple of weeks after recovering from a hamstring injury and that could be enough for a first down to the 49 yard line and the key to this game perhaps will be the opening march of the second half as the Bears used 20 plays over 11 minutes all the time Miami sitting on the sidelines with the wind advantage and the Bears got a field goal out of it and also took the win aid off Moreno shoulders and that's what they're trying to do now chew up the clock and get some more and the way I really like the way they pitch their office between Tom Landry and Dick's Campo and great great this went in the Hall of Fame some play-action made for us [Applause] 17 [Applause] well it's the field prisons that harvested don't really give all this is a where he wants to throw to his right now he's chased and moved and he still has presents to find people Plus that the boss thrown over defenders hands and dropped right into thorns hands we're seeing the development 36 yards on this play he still wants to drop into the ball over the top chuckling vile was the man who almost got Harbaugh before he faded to the sidelines and made that throw [Applause] call by the importer back from University of Michigan when we return it's the Bears at the 17 of Miami with a touchdown leave when you've got something precious to carry this is one way to do it here's another Chevy lumina euros today engineered with four-wheel independent suspension and standard anti-lock brakes it's one way to help make sure your precious cargo is delivered safely the cars more people depend on chevy lumina family circles domestic family car of the year for the second straight year a mistake was made and we forgot we overlooked it say you need something set overnight there are a few companies you can call but say needed Saturday morning guaranteed there are two but only one is so efficient and Bobby just can make up on that today give it there on time for far less which is why to some there was only one UPS [Music] Stefan Cologne easy to win hard to resist your dentist told you about plaque but you didn't listen you need the new Braun oral-b plaque remover it removes plaque just like your dentist wants you to that shelf should hold now doc the Braun oral-b plaque remover back in snowy and icy Chicago and the late scores on our ITT ten minute ticker it's always a battle the Broncos and the Seahawks and they're at it again today and there you see quickly the other scores that certainly feature of some major surprises today [Music] [Applause] Anderson to the 8-yard in a pickup of almost 10 like to remind you also next Saturday on NBC Sports Grambling State in Southern University at the Superdome in New Orleans the Bayou Classic it'll be at 2:30 Eastern Time that's next Saturday and that is always highlight of the collegiate football here in the South rambling in Southern [Music] you know from a personnel standpoint the football players in that classic yearning you're out there because a lot of future professions first and goal from the seven [Applause] 13:06 it's Anderson there good read by Reichenbach and David great 22 [Music] rookie Stan Tomas of Chicago [Music] no it's a rookie Cox Brian Cox of Western Illinois is changing holiday wishes you know I try to make a point a minute ago I put Greg Landry and Tom Landry's role but tom was famous for excellent scheming and play calling and Greg Landry's done the same kind of thing here in Chicago just that's the change information and just the little nuances of the game if you ever stay Anderson this around early unable to get up to full speed and the entire center that golfin defense there to meet him and David Griggs 92 having a big game brings his brother Billy was a tight end in the league for a while he played at Virginia for the Cavaliers [Music] favorite book he says is the Bible he told us his favorite artist is Public Enemy now there's a interesting spec one out of the full spectrum different well diversified as most of those calves are third and goal saying what do you call here bill from the seventh one of the say there's three receivers on right that's others a man in motion the same kind of a Peck play but they run before [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] at the 6 yard line so on 4th down Kevin Butler will command to try the another short field goal for Chicago Miami's playing their best defense of the year now we haven't seen every game Mike that's my my guess they're playing good solid defense against all the best teams in the league and in a sense this is a breakthrough for the Dolphins they're playing very very well on defense head-up alert and even if they were to lose this game there's no room on that schedule if they could still be a playoff team back they feel like it loose two of their final five and still get in as an 818 this will be a 24 yard attempt bobble snap and he missed it so Harbaugh unable to handle the snap cleanly and by the time you head down Butler hooked it wide left don't forget the chill factor here's one the snap was good and Butler had to reset and by the time he swung the leg through and Butler with a bad hip anyway misses so the Dolphins still within a touchdown you demand the same things from your car that you demand from your budget both have to go more places last longer and work harder than ever so get the Walmart price engineered for today's smaller cars Castrol GTX Gaston provides maximum protection against viscosity and thermal breakdown provides maximum protection against pain [Music] always a low price always when her car needed a new battery you got the heavy duty mom when the tire started to where you spent a little more for the good ones and even though the brakes could have made it a while longer you said replace them and now that falls here you using Prestone and increase its patented formula exceeds every performance standard set for the antifreeze industry for corrosion and freeze up protection presto we make it better than we have to for some very good reasons because you believe these trucks shouldn't carry a spare tire because up here crisp tasting beer just comes naturally gone when the whole gang gets together there's no room for filling up so reach for the Silver Bullet the fear that won't weigh you down [Music] the more income your investments earn the more taxes are taken out but with naveen tax-free investments the more you learn the more you keep ask your financial advisor about naveen tax-free investments or simply call this number the team's nicknames and how they plan weather are certainly appropriate here there's a correlation Miami this is not dolphin weather it's about 25 chill factor 1 and Miami's one only once in their history when the temperature has been [Applause] [Music] breaking tackles out to the 25-yard line 833 left here in Chicago let's go to New York here's Bob Costas all right dick once trailing 13 nothing at the Kingdome the Broncos have come back to make a game of it Mike Kroll slaps this ball away from David Craig picked up by Warren powers he takes it in on the fumble return for the touchdown moments later David Treadwell kicks a field goal Denver to within three now at 1310 back to Soldier Field [Music] again [Applause] first down at the 33 yard line you've got to give a lot of credit to Paige Tony Paige coming in and leading in on Mike Singletary on a lead block now there's two guys that are a fake load now you'll see 49 on the Left you'll see Singletary BAM that's a beautiful position by Paige he comes right up underneath extends his hip and just lifts singletery oh and that's the perfect Oh and first down [Applause] images of Monday when Cornelius Bennett came around the backside took it out of his hands and scored a Bill's touchdown very nearly there is Moreno sack for the first time 18 for the year that equals the most he's ever been sacked in a season a part of that's down the field because he Dan can throw the ball he still isn't throwing it and so when his timing really wasn't there to throw the ball he held it and was finally sacked so combine the coverage and the pass rush to get the job done and that was dent there first and then the fridge to his 370 on secondhand [Music] [Applause] Oh [Music] welcome apply Stinson I'm a Texan away for sensor well they're getting pushed right up inside with McMichael and perry but dent is coming inside in a pass rush mode and that push is coming right up inside tres Armstrong that time was the guy that really forced and marina the move and broke down the timing of the play so the pressure right up underneath inside is getting right in moreno space Schiller goes receivers there comes Roper on a blitz complain [Applause] [Music] [Applause] too hard in there and really duper wasn't ready for the ball when it got there he bounced off with defensive back and wasn't ready now carry carrier at this point protect the ball be careful so often a defensive back will intercept the ball then fumble at the end of the play because they're not used to handling the ball okay that was a nice job the ball thrown prematurely so they'll take back the yardage bike carrier on the run but carriers in a celebrative mood after ten interceptions last year as a rookie to lead the NFL he'd been frustrated this year that's his first of the season it doesn't necessarily reflect that he's not playing well adjust the ball hasn't fallen in his lap but it did on that icky after the penalty bears haven't just inside the Miami 45 646 left 14 to 6 ACOG Oh Neil Anderson four yards want to go back to Moreno and his record against the opposition in his great burn when he doesn't throw a touchdown pass which is rare only 13 times that's happened in his career and he's won only four times actually 17 times and he's four and 13 in those 17 games when he hasn't thrown a touchdown pass and he's been shut out thus far today well he's he's the bottom line in the entire franchise [Music] [Applause] [Music] with second choice is hit hard at the 38-yard line pardon me from Miami he was a 12th round pick had been shoulders a senior with the Kings and was overlooked he got healthy and now they feel that hardening the people with the entry - Jarvis Williams is going to work himself into that starting lineup we didn't lose his stated age of step 1 Jarvis is fine a planner sir he has stepped out you know to 12th round fix in the starting secondary JB brown also to 12th round fix so they've done a fine job of developing raw talent third down and three for the Bears [Music] on a blitz is able to unload the flag goes down they're going to call intentionally grounding they have to have done that because Carbaugh I don't think could even see a receiver from Brian Cox's inside blitz coming up underneath Jeff cross and just being totally unblocked shankster from Western Illinois knows the official signals doesn't it that takes away the opportunity that we have intentional grounding on the quarter act number four also waffle but it started with carriers return where it appeared they certainly get a field goal of right up underneath is Brian Cox or Baba is still trying to find somebody right the last instant but you'd have to call it a sack there's finally getting a an 11th man onto the field 5:11 left the Miami we'll get another opportunity is Morrie Buford in Dubai Scott Miller back at the 10 user does a good job sales one nicely with the help of the wind Miller lets it go into the end zone touch the 20 yard line for Moreno and Miami when we return this is not a surprise you know you're gonna have to pick up the tab but then six more people showed up not the time to run up against a preset limit on a bank card would be embarrassing but you can handle this instead of worry you order more wine be it in the car the American Express card but don't leave home without it they came in with their big pumps and stop the flooding saved my business all I've worked for people really cared it meant a lot to us and they led me to money now - Debbie gonna start at college [Music] if your face were square shaving would be simple but your face has curves you need the tracer with a blade that flexes to put more of the blade edge against your skin the tracer from Schick traces every curve on your face this is Bob Costas in New York and at the Meadowlands in New Jersey player Thomas the jet running back with his second touchdown of the day stutter stepping his way to 22 yards as the Jets open what seems to be an insurmountable lead 20 for three over the chargers in the fourth but come to think of it they were up 21 last week in Foxborough and had to hold on at the end to win earlier today the Buffalo Bills surprised by the New England Patriots 1613 and in the East the Jets are winning they're in second place currently and they match up if the Jets beat San Diego no three touchdowns ahead they'll be seven and five and they go at it up at rich Stadium that's one of our future games next Sunday as Kansas City's here on Sunday could be their last [Music] to work from the 20 getting complete through the hands of Tony pay well now they have to make the catches now they have to make the place they're not going to get the ball back dick if they lose it here Chicago's running game we'll run the clock right down to nothing meaning you talk about coaching jobs it's your dick McPherson going oh he's got to get moving for coach of the unit he wouldn't have to he he's been that team competitive overnight now I know that the team from the year before New England had a number of injuries people running on the field but the attitude week after that week they had frustrating loss [Applause] Rolle throws back and it's complete to be the tight end Mike Singletary whistles Greg Beatty to the ground at the 30-yard line Greg Beatty who was a Stanford star and actually spent some time coaching word he speaks Italian Stanford has a overseas campus a number of three so one of the reasons he went to convert was to attend an overseas campus learn to speak Italian through college undergraduate days when he was over there and made that extra dollar to keep him there lodging in forest coaching football in Italian but for a first down for my for Tim left in the game [Music] runs for the sidelines and is out of bounds at the 36 yard line just a postscript on baby first Florence City oh great the art Michelangelo's famous David nice when married a year ago took his wife back and it was the honeymoon site and he was recalling also that in coaching with you ask him what's the most difficult thing that in trying to coach Italians went and played football oh well yeah it's it's making contact and looking at the opponent he should do it typically we want to close our eyes and put him with a copier duck our head nobody wants no we're not built to run into something is he got a block with your face and he is tough to tackle squirts through a couple of bears tacklers and may have a first town appears he does out at the 42 yard line I think Karl Tesla the running back coach for the Dolphins has done a fine job with it's just bringing him along my guess is that Karl will have him in that [Applause] because he can at the line of scrimmage he is very very quick the following page in there five yards before they can identify him [Music] [Applause] but over the head of marks Laker again mark was not going I don't know what Mark was doing there to be honest with you he was going about half sweet and not looking not looking back inside so Renault through to a receiver that was looking for the ball that happened earlier in the game had cost the interception because Clayton was trying to apply a block on a pass play so there may be something wrong cos Clayton is motion to the sidelines that he wants to come out there's a the signals they give each other some things [Applause] [Music] [Applause] completely duper the closest white shirt for those bonds are going to receivers that don't appear to be looking for the ball marina no one for the last seven as Clayton his top receiver returns now this is it right there [Music] 3:14 to go with a clock stopped on the incomplete pass hey - walked over the locker [Music] Jennsen with him in the for wide receivers well they know how to get to Dan Marino the only way to get to him is right up inside and force him to move and when he attempted to do it McMichael was right there what a great combination with Denton Armstrong Michael whooping 0b short kick and waddle fair catches at the 33 yard line so with 249 left amy has three timeouts remaining but can they stop the ground game and we remind you coming up starting at the seven o'clock Eastern Time a whole new Sunday night lineup but we hope you'll be with us this evening to see in one hour version of the torkelson who moved to Sunday night that will be followed by country night season premiere of a brand-new show and then deception a mother's secret starring Steven Weber all tonight on NBC 13 to 6 Chicago as they go for look at their trainers win Dan Marino is really upset on that sideline with a communication apparently of what's going on with his receiver rouse thrilled after he picks up about two we want to take a look at it this guy is upset right he's mad at something and it's a coordination now people are talking and he's man he is hot and it is tough because it's critical downs in the communication with his receivers was was misfiring some way we've seen it all day four or five times with key receivers his spectrum gods ITT ten minute ticker he's the finals the Raiders Cleveland Dallas over Washington the skins first defeat of the year a winglet bombing and Pittsburgh upsetting Houston the Giants are winners they're seven and five Detroit goes 8 and 4 with their victory in Green Bay rarer win for the Packers their third of the year late-game scoreboard Seattle still ahead at home by 3 the Jets apparently are going to go to 7 and 5 and Philadelphia beating Phoenix and the Eagles looking at a possible 7 and 5 which would give Dallas Giants and Philadelphia all 7 and 5 behind Washington in the East I'm going back to the communication so much is just a read it's not like the old days where you drew the plane you always went the way the play was drawn it's you're reacting as a receiver to the coverage and quarterback and receiver hopefully are seeing the same thing strange part about the catch it then Harbaugh dumps it off to Anderson and Anderson wisely doesn't go out of bounds you can see for a moment he hesitated then bit zesty Jackson brings him down and Miami is not called time yet and now they do at 2:24 it'll be a loss on the play and bring up about a third and 10 you know it's never been the same as those glory years for Miami with Cooper Clayton [Music] to find people I had at Tony nathan is as dead Fang remember it hasn't been the same in green or I would think he's gotten better but whatever that is it's not the same it once was let's not forget that Moore's the third receiver with Clayton and Dupree well Thanksgiving Day bill and I will be celebrating the holiday with you from Dallas Texas and at 3:30 NFL live will have a key feature on one of the great coaches in the history of this game Tom Landry well McDonough will have an exclusive interview from Landry's home and then two teams that came up with big wins today Dallas upsetting Washington in Washington 24:21 even with Troy Aikman injured Steve Beuerlein taking over and Pittsburgh at home knocking off the Oilers 26:14 and that's a matchup that just conjures up images of a great tradition in cowboy and third down get that the first town at the 41 but Harbaugh but men all over his presence he's made the breakthrough as a quarterback no question about it you know dick as far as the schedule is concerned in the standings all kind of crazy things are happened before this year's over you wanted we had an old man not everybody did all the newspapers who's going to win the division who the wild card it'd be a team like San Francisco can come back believe it or not be a walk our team and still be a major factor there any number of teams like that because the upsets start occurring the winners start losing concentration we'll get back against the wall and make a seasonal it starts to snow the fans here in Chicago experimenter like the weather Miller back at the 15 for Miami Buford dupatta and forth on three [Music] Beauford [Applause] zone we will have the ball in oh well the crowd went wild when it really started snowing and it could very well have been that ball wasn't what it should have been when it was snip went right over the punters head or that took off over Buford's head yes so the weather in this case affected the Bears it caught up to him mark Logan 20 was the man who then blocked it back to the 5-yard line and what an opportunity for Miami now if they could have advanced that ball it would be tied right now I would worry to be honest we the deck whether they can score from here without Chicago defense 201 left so one play well they did stop the running game of disco they did get another chance a little better than they might the misfire in the Spectrum Center [Applause] platon also to the right [Applause] [Music] and he does get to the two yard line they'd have had to throw the ball now they can run again a two-minute timeout 157 left the Bears in trouble an Olympic moment brought to you by Panasonic helping to train America's Olympic athletes Montreal 1976 Alberto Juantorena of Cuba in the all-white uniform at the top takes the lead in the Olympic 400 meters he wins his second gold medal here in Montreal Alberto Juantorena the only man in Olympic history to win both the 400 and 800 meter runs ironically as camcorders get smaller and lighter they become harder to hold steady and when your hand shakes so does the picture that's why this Panasonic palm quarter camcorder has a digital image stabilization it can hold the picture steady even when your hand shakes this much and unlike the other compact camcorder format the Panasonic palm quarter is VHS so its tapes can play in your VHS recorder and the millions of others out there the VHS palm quarter from Panasonic it's not easy being you [Music] took all day but they finally came up with one very big idea what he bet they printed solid laser Jen from hewlett-packard the Dolphins went out of time but obviously plenty of time as plays from the 2-yard line to try to tie it up [Applause] [Music] take a safety but [Music] [Applause] to his tiny is he in touch feral admins just activated last week he was a holdout then injured has played only on special teams and in short yardage and Edmonds a great target at six six catches the touchdown throw from Marino the plane wasn't there the play fake didn't work Edmonds is cover it takes a real shot by rail to get the ball there and Gayle just laid an attack [Music] nothing certain on this snowy field in Chicago this cation SOI animates delivers so Chicago on to special team airs remember a short field goal try by Kevin Butler went awry when Harbaugh was unable to handle the snap that would have been a 24 yarder to give the Bears a 10-point lead in this quarter and now they snapped by hildenburg over the head of Buford sets up a four yard Drive let's go back to the bad snap so crucial now well it just it's sales over Cooper's hit in his way out there now if he'd had presents in mind he might have turned and run for the endzone but they were going to be right on top of it that was a tight play that would be a tough one unless he was thinking about it before the ball was snapped what he would instinctively do I don't think typically a punter would would run for his own injury ticker the other scores of the day for finals early games Seattle still leads by three jets commanding Philadelphia also apparently on his way to victory Philadelphia is really going to go lot of momentum going Moreno to Edmunds that's the first touchdown catch of the year for the tight end only is fourth of the season to tie it at 13 and plenty of time for Chicago 151 left and you'll recall how well they moved the ball on the opening drive of the second half course they took 11 minutes to get a field goal and they drove at the end of the first half for a field gold in just about this amount of time that's what they need to win it [Music] [Applause] that's the 25-yard line under the under the circumstances that's good hitting coverage and good field position for Miami because Stanovich from the so they did a pretty decent job with this window bottling up Chicago our boss he ducks into the huddle has two wild cards left two timeouts left 147 to go has the Bears in search of their tenth win of the year they're six in a row need to drive 55 yards or so to get into our bus should have plenty of time [Music] so at the two yardline oh they say incomplete now it was not held by Wendell Davis in this particular case just three men will be rushing rushing you know this pass rush believe it or not span almost get there but just three people across that front and then everyone else is playing man-to-man defense on receivers with three deep zone people back here so it's good defense but Harvick have much more time to throw the ball best be Jackson made for the Benson place second in Sam [Music] with Lewis Oliver to make a solid hold for loss [Music] when his spirits and manages a female vocal group three times a love and he said they got a hit irresistible laugh that's kind of his feeling when he sees a man in the open field he has a big hitter big athlete burdens him why'd it's Davis [Applause] [Music] second effort they had him stopped at the 34 he alerts us to the 35 and I think that's good enough for a first down they stopped the clock perhaps for a measurement what an effort what an effort once that ball is caught he's down but he just stretches his nice job between zone defense he should be tackled there there's some hesitation right there right at the end of the play and vesti Jackson doesn't quite get there to make the big stop it was McGruder who hit him first three yards shy of the first and jackson unable to follow up so first town Chicago 47 seconds left complete the gym free at the 48-yard 37 seconds and here's a timeout again right between zone defenders and Harbaugh had to throw that ball about 40 yards to get it there you'll see the set down right there by Gentry right between those zone defenders and there's the bone now that's excellent passing a fine read by Gentry against that zone defense 42 Chris Green the rookie from Illinois just fingertips away from deflecting it Kevin Butler we may play the key role in the Bears regulation play with an opportunity of the field goal pass kicked the 50-yarder this season and his career long is 52 but he is kicking with a sore sore right hip says it doesn't bother him so much in field goals but it does affect his kicking long [Music] mr. Ken Berg will go walsh old soldier field in chicago we welcome those of you who've been watching CFL and end [Music] throws it away Neal Anderson was close enough amazingly Miami's getting there with a three-man rush and then possibly a linebacker who's reading his back if he blocked free brushes but they're they're getting some heat on hardball and this defense will hold up if they can do that three men rushing getting heat on a quarterback windchill factor here in Chicago right about zero now the temperature in the mid 20s dropping to 15 Oh the bear score just scored [Music] the 41 and the beers have to hurry 22 21 seconds [Applause] probably just ground this one yes that stops the clock 14 seconds they need to get the by would think bill even with the wind at their back to about the 32 give but their reasonable chance at a field that would be a tough kick even to third s 47-yard field goal I'd say 225 inch would give him a chance and they have the Bears probably two plays in which to do it the the wind is not a major factor right this second seem to us died down substantially 42 44 yard field goal with Don Nixon's chance for wide receivers they broken up and almost intercepted by Magruder good timing by scooter magruder as they had the receiver on this side double-team now there's playing the ball in the air i watch the recruiter going up for that boat and ol Davis drawing double coverage for in this position the zone defenders have to be ready to fly to the ball when it's in the year seconds to go here bill so if the Bears complete a pass those receivers [Music] the clock [Applause] [Music] there's the timeout call with four seconds so waddle gives Butler in the Bears a chance it'll be a long forty nine yards well this would be a marvelous kick if he could make it in these weather conditions the beers at this stage coming into this week's play with a second best record in the NFC and say our tenant to New Orleans tend to but they beat New Orleans and this would be both at nine and two this would be four ten in two and four Butler a 50-yard attempt that would match his longest there is a win from his Miami cannot be offside that would be disastrous if they were to move and give him five extra yards this for the game [Applause] [Music] long enough we knew we needed to get him back to the 25 years five yards short is couldn't quite get it done and he's wheeze weather conditions and the fact that he isn't a hundred percent and that ball goes heavy through the snow you're not going to get near the distance so Butler very prominent in the course of this game he kicked one from 32 at the end of the first half a short one from 19 in the third quarter that gave the Bears a 13-3 lead and then missed on a 24 yard field goal in the fourth quarter when the snap on a short chance was dropped by Harbaugh who was spotting it and now a 50-yard hope but it well it's straight land short you see trying to keep loose he stayed with that jacket and trowsers on as long as he could to try to to keep warm and now the coin toss to see who gets possession first in the Overtoun by the way if Cutler has a problem with that Lake McMichael is the extra field goal guy and we we watched and everybody was cherry he mentor about a 15 or 20 yarder in practice but boy would Butler be missed well return to Soldier Field after these words from your local station tonight join Doug stone Katie Arthur City Kenny Rogers and us our hot country nights on NBC tonight the program you can relate to the two good ice creams not fattening unless somebody sees you eat it I'd love me to be part of the Jenny Jones studio audience call eight three six nine four eight five four reservations it's one of the most technologically advanced most rigorously tested fluids on earth relentlessly measured for maximum protection against the friction the wear and tear the heat and stress of today's and it is today's paper slave in Europe in Japan in America a quaker state quality has passed the most demanding tests automaker can throw it in at Quaker State we don't just say we're tough we're tested tough the big Q is one tough motor oil [Music] the beer [Music] I like what like more than their deceptions a mother's secret NBC Sunday so to overtime one a sudden-death period it's been that tough Division leaders Washington has lost Buffalo is lost Denver in Houston have lost [Music] to the 35-yard line goes Tony Paige as we look at the rest of the scores ten minute ticker England surprising Buffalo on Pittsburgh or Dallas on Thanksgiving Day with a must-win against the Oilers fans are now seven and five the Lions when their eighth of the year Packers third Vic green that's his big a victory Pittsburgh's had still in the playoff picture [Applause] for 4 yards Higgs replacing Sammy Smith who fumbled again today inside the 5-yard line we go to New York dick here's a look not seen on the game telecast earlier it's from our affiliate in Tampa WFLA the injury to Jeff Hostetler driven into the turf by the Buccaneer linebacker Broderick Thomas here's the word injury to his lower back fractured transverse process no neurological damage Phil Simms finished the game quarterback them to victory and obviously Simms will start next week and probably beyond dick [Applause] the sidelines complete the Clayton well they were in tune that time it's been distributing much of this game but on that occasion Moreno and Clayton on target in a first down just shy of midfield again pressure on Moreno but and the ball was thrown late and that could have been disastrous because Moreno had to hold it and move and then throw that out pattern very very scary but he got away with it without arm this field position is so important at this point Miami has a distinctive any [Applause] to the Bears 48 yard line maybe the 47 Pete's toy Jana but she has long range in fact has kick 1 well remember in the playoffs beat Kansas City last year with a 58 yarder has kicked a 59-yard field goal but not in these conditions going in that direction Miami is going into the wind from the north-northwest well you have to give Siana the edge over Cutler in this situation the real strong [Applause] tobacco's gonna be bottle [Applause] second and six fairy the rare pleasure and assisting on the second well it was a smart move by Marino he wasn't about to unload that ball and get into trouble again they've got field position they don't want to lose it so now Marino is going to protect that ball go up inside not going to take any chance line or the Bears this is their second overtime game this year remember that incredible against the Jets when have seen the test [Applause] [Music] [Applause] the first down at the 36 yard line and what a passing team that is Marino and a beautiful pass inside easy to catch and Richard dent had a chance at Dan Marino on the outside you'll see him really have a chance and just couldn't quite get there we were asking Clayton and Marino about their very first game as you see him connect again indent a little late on that that vicious enough to draw apply that's the 36 first down 11:57 left in Overton going the Wolford a flag is down at the 6 yard line and a miracle play as Clayton entangled with a defender a 30-yard play interference is the college's Wolfer I guess so he was trying to the pass was complete penalty decline but the fact that Clayton caught the ball he goes down is he on his back when he catches it look at the concentration a man on him and he still catches that ball amazing they see what concentration and Marino who has not been all that happy with Mark Clayton's routes during the course of the game cheers that won its first and goal outside the five that's his big a catches Grammys head in year just get the ball in the middle will fear breno just moves between the hash marks and the call is in for number ten beats Toyota Vitz they've already dialed his number and now for a field goal try that could win it for Miami remember that Jets had that opportunity in that overtime game against Chicago and misfired that Lahey could not connect today is been successful from 35 and from 22 yards what a victory if they can get it over a beat winning team because always been in the door years he's the weakest 27 yards for victory [Music] career victory this kind of Mike Ditka [Music] one get away is bears headed thirteen three late in the third quarter but Miami taking advantage of a bad snap on a punt and then a miracle catch by Clayton stoy yana no doubt about it right down Midway first victory by the Miami Dolphins over a winning team this year and 61 over year old Don Shula were rarely that emotional when he needed to give his team hope of a playoff in a cold weather season polar weather here Ditka with a way of saying that was a heck of a win for the Dolphins who figured to have everything against them in freezing weather and a team that had only beaten New England twice and Annapolis twice in Green Bay through five teams that are far from winning records this is the decade that you have been talking about we need to feed a quality team they do it and icy conditions in our canon camcorder play of the game the replay shows toy Annabeth's she headed all the way not much more than an extra point well for the Miami Dolphins who is the who is the play I got Mark Clayton II get it can what happened otherwise he has to get that our avis player of the game is Mark Clayton the veteran receiver of the Miami Dolphins he had six catches today 92 yards and one an amazing a miracle catch that set up the winning field goal in overtime so 1613 Miami upsets Chicago what an incredible day all the leaders of divisions have lost today five for five in New Orleans place Atlanta tonight now please stay tuned we'll have all the scores and highlights with Bob Costas and the crew in New York as Miami has given Chicago its third loss of the year in our Avis we try harder award the play of the game and the player of the game Mark Clayton hard to believe he caught the ball that would have been interference anyway but Clayton with a remarkable catch sets up the winning field goal Miami goes to six and six Don Shula never enjoyed a win in tougher conditions than this now we go to
