[Music] all right it is another day of working on the wrecker we're going to be working on mounting the winch that operates the boom today it's quite complex because it needs to be able to come in and out so that the lid can come out for the gas tank and the gas tank to come out so got lots of drilling lots of fitting lots of figuring out a little bit of welding that's what we're gonna be doing today and we're gonna be doing it with this crew with the tools we have the best way we know how so we got skeeter over here cutting out some of the pieces that we need this is the winch plate he's already cut out some of the brackets and stuff that are gonna mount this all up we're just gonna let him get at it we're gonna get added over here and time lapse [Music] [Music] okay beautiful [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Music] does that fit nice we're trying to get some strength here to mount the mounts that mount the mount to mount the winch winch mount mount mount yes by the time we're done sandwiching this together and all the plug welds and connecting it and everything it's going to be 5 16 thick that's plenty thick all right it's a new day but we are still working on the wrecker still working on the same thing this is tedious and time-consuming but we got to get it right because it's got to be able to be disassembled and it's got to be super strong because this is what's holding the whole boom so we're just gonna be working some more on that today lizzy's gonna be welding skeeter's gonna be cutting and fitting and trevor trevor's been cleaning this area out because jefe needs an office and i need a place to film because we're doing reaction videos for patreon oh man you see why we love ed you might have been working for us by then were you pass the mic that's a beastie boys song we stacked rocks three or four places [Laughter] i'm like here i've been making fun of this opera guy and it's paul and holly the whole time got it up there [Laughter] that was some nice camera work ed i just like this music coolest outro music ever [Music] [Music] all right the time has come to put all of this back in of there [Music] [Music] uh [Music] what an ordeal finally got it in there i didn't count them but i'm estimating there to be 500 bolts there's not 500 there's probably what like 20. i exaggerated there's 400 bolts this is the winch that's going to run the boom so there's going to be a sheave right here there's going to be one up on the boom that way we'll have like from the winch to a sheave to a sheave to the boom it's gonna be quite a bit of uh power multiplication and hopefully we won't rip this right out of there because we put so many bolts in it we're gonna shift what we're doing for a second lizzie and i are gonna be putting the hooks on the front of the tow truck skeeter's starting to work on the boom trying to get it laid out and trevor is doing his best to get some of the black spray paint off the truck so yeah that's what we're going to be doing next okay don't feel impact on it [Music] [Music] yeah that's good now comes the real test lizzy see if we tapped at the right size special bowls from rowdy yeah when you're doing this you go until you feel resistance then you back up a little bit then you go again and after you do that like five times blow all the chips out and start over there's a science to tapping if you use like a mill if you use your hand like this it becomes an arc all right so we got the two back bolts which are 5 8 installed got the drill and tap we could drill and tap the front ones but we're still waiting for the hardware to bolt them in now we're going to come back here and start working on the boom we sent skeeter out to paul's shop he had an emergency delivery there's some problems with one of the axles on the golden nugget we've got these little babies can we uh show people the difference between a third member and a regular axle well all axles have a third member in them but this one unbolts so this is kind of comparable to like a ford nine inch style a normal axle this would all be part of the axle and this part would come out of the back of the axle where the samurai and the four nine inch there's a bunch of them that have this style this is superior this is tougher and it's easier to work on because i can set it up right here on my bench put it back in and everything's good the other one i'm under the car trying to get all my gear pattern right and everything so i prefer this style but that's the difference we dropped this off paul and randall and paul's brother so so this is the bottom of the boom right here we just got to get that welded on and attached properly and we'll just go from there [Music] now i'm just gonna bomb these uh mounts on [Music] i kind of took too long going out to paul's because it's just fun to talk to those guys i had to redeem myself to matt i had to get him a smoothie all right let's see how this goes over then they're waiting on me all right matt i think i was a little slow because i visited with paul and randall maybe a little too much just trying to get a smoothie oh nice farmers like smoothies too all right so skeeter got back from his trip out there to paul's shop i had him stop by schultzson's on the way in and pick up some metal so that we can get this boom we've got a parade coming up but i want the boom on it before the parade so that people that don't know what this is we'll be able to see what it is it looks like we got these within a 30 second of each other which is good enough for me we need a rat to come eyeball this thing he'd get it right first time we've got to get this up where we can weld it on this table okay okay just hang it hang it out over the back and then press your belly right against it [Music] that's hot we've probably changed some things [Music] [Music] all right we need some chains [Music] all right we got quite a bit done today i've got to get the more bear in here and do some maintenance and upgrades on the axles that's what we're going to be doing next so we're going to be pushing this to the back of the shop and we've got to get that in here how does that look balanced oh yeah much more balanced now oh this thing looks like it's gonna be vicious oh yeah you get those big tires on there this is awesome it's awesome it's awesome there's no words for it it's so awesome you can't even describe it other than it's awesome it looks awesome it is so see that's the only way to describe it oh has everybody said awesome yeah well it is it's awesome on today's episode we're going to be installing all these yukon parts on this car we're going to give you a step-by-step how-to on exactly how to install this on the morph air so you too can install it on your mower bear we've got stub shafts we've got u-joints we've got spindles locking hubs gift covers we're doing it all today these bolts go to the diff covers actually we're doing none of that please we are installing these but we're not giving you a step by step we're gonna put these on here we're gonna go out and thrash this some more rescuing people we're gonna do the right thing the wrong way and we're gonna start right now so this is the old inner axle we're gonna use it for now because we haven't ever broke one i have broke plenty of these so see the difference you're going with these ones i broke this on the toll booth we weren't filming i probably broke my stop shop it was the third style box that i broke on the more bearer so this is a worthwhile but matt they make tools for that they also make hammers for that yep slip this in there i am very happy with that okay i think that's all the way on there [Music] okay that's good [Music] there she goes got these from yukon the old style i had are a nylock and they've just been on and off so many times they are not nylocking anymore i have never put these yukon locking hubs together i watched somebody do it but i did not pay attention all right how do you think these go in here i'm calling rory hey siri call rory irish hey so i got my yukon locking hubs i'm sure there's a great youtube tutorial on these but so much fun but it looks like some assembly is required yeah so i'm trying to think here i'll just look up a youtube thing i know your time is valuable but if you're like oh you just throw three of the things away and the other four things you put in backwards and that's how it works i can't remember which way is easier whether it's the axle retainer ring to hold everything together or whether to do the outside spiral ring to hold everything together and then do the actual retaining relax i think i got this on the run if it doesn't work i'm pretty much calling you back and being like you are way off all right cool that sounds like a deal okay over and out oh it came with instructions okay i put that in the first that's fine then the spring's in we did that oh that's right there on the outside oh we did it wrong this is one of those things they just kind of snuck in there and like put it in there where no one's seat [Music] okay well that was harder to install so it makes sense that that was the way it's supposed to go now we're back to where it all makes sense again all right i think i've learned a lot about hubs [Music] [Music] all right we are back at it this morning trying to get the more of air backing up to snuff lizzie wrote a big old list this morning that's everything that we've got to do on the morveir skeeter's already been working on it what you got there what's the problem with that link a little bit bad it's bent it bent into the drive shaft right there look at that yep that's it we're going to be putting new links on we're talking 180. all right stick it through there all right all right we finally got some dom links on the bottom of this okay it is past quitting time we're gonna send everybody home we're sending lizzy away for a week she's going on a family vacation what are we gonna do without you cry you're gonna be welded so we'll be right back tomorrow minus lizzie and we are back it's a new day working in the shop let's see what we have today all right we got the new joints on the front right here uh drive shafts lubricated all the joints are lubricated we've greased everything that could be greased and everything looks really good but we found a new problem see these these are the steering stops they thread in right here on each side this hydraulic ram is doing this to them and what's bad about this happening it makes it so you can turn sharper when you break these but the bad thing is it puts a lot of stress on these joints that aren't designed to go that sharp we're going to figure out how long they need to be and we're going to weld thick permanent spacers on right here that can't be bent by this ram we're gonna do that i think i'm just gonna weld that right there okay turn the other way driver all the way that's pretty good okay stir it in wrap okay i'm happy with that we used to adjust these by threading them in and out now we adjust them by welding and grinding we are going to change this cover so let me show you what's going on with this cover this is a stock cover it's fairly thin metal and that's probably touching the ring gear if it's not touching it's really close but it's time to upgrade to some real beef it's beefy thick all the way through was it hitting nope it wasn't hitting it was close how's the weather today hot no wind little cloud never rains the gears in here me and my team set these up we got a little bit of criticism from some people in the know all the things that we did wrong on these gears and they look fantastic lash is perfect your pattern's perfect well there you have it that's quite a bit blacker you know what that's from clutch material i do not run a locker in the rear i run limited slip or pause attraction a dana spicer power lock [Music] [Music] oh she needs an oil change don't look at that we're gonna change the oil because it's the right thing to do [Music] i wonder what that air filter looks like well there's one side of the filter in there looks pretty clean okay it's time for a change but it wasn't like the end of the world all right we've got to wait for this to air dry so i'll come in tomorrow and finish this we got quite a bit done on this not as much as i wanted to we had to wait on some parts and we put some things in backwards and had to put them in the right way because of all our spare time we really appreciate you watching thank you so much see you next time i need to look natural i don't want to look like i'm holding this up so it looks natural yeah it's not that complicated this is how we do it
