We Bought a MINT 1978 Peterbilt Cabover!

oh there it is guys our brand new to uh dude that thing is a unit so sick this guy's got all kinds of cool stuff so before we walk over there and see our brand new to us Peterbilt 352 project truck we're here at Mr Donnie Miller's garage uh in Northern Alabama he's got all kinds of cool stuff here look at that that's pretty sick that's a freaking classic old Peterbilt right there here but lots of cool trucks we're going to walk around this yard and see what all kinds of cool things he's got hanging out here because he's got quite a few things look at that look at that old cab over back there coming I know someone to go crazy about this is the Millers my buddy Chaz oh yeah he lose it kind of transmissions in there there's some kind of a big old cut off right here [Applause] you know kinds of cut off sloting that's 46,000 lb reare ends like some kind of an Allison Transmission that's a fire truck oh that's sick I was wondering what that was a yellow fire Syracuse there's another cab over right here I don't know what that thing is says Peter build on it got some good length to it too here's another cabover jeez Don's got all kinds of cabovers floating around here another one dang goly Big C comings in it that one seen better days a oh yeah oh boy dud okay that's our next new way we got to start stacking trucks oh yeah set them up on Wheels done deal lots of cool stuff floating around is that a tow truck kind of an old truck with a knuckle boom on it it looks like sweet box truck right here we drove about 2 and 1/2 hours down here see this truck I guess we'll stop making you wait guys let's walk out front and check it out now this is a fire truck right here dude you don't say classic old split ring aluminum wheels American Le France probably got a two-stroke Detroit in it with an all transmission that's cool 359 look at this dang dude he got all the classics [Music] here it's actually a pretty clean truck short hood air ride solid old unit right there boy what is that whoa look like old cab Ford Peterbilt probably would have been like a garbage truck or something back in the day that's crazy square body so Mr Donnie's got this truck for sale right here I seen the had it posted up for sale on Facebook but here she is are new to us told you guys would be getting another American cab over at some point here it is dude that's sick so this thing is all original right Donnie said that this bumper is the original front bumper on the truck from the factory look at that huge Peter bullet emblem dude that is so nice that's pretty cool talk about a classic man so he's got brand new rubber front and rear this thing is slick D I don't know about this deck plate though have to put something else on this deck plate are they real no it says copy on them right there but it's got a newer air ride cut off low air Leaf so this is real similar uh air ride setup to what's on a trer taxi and whatnot now you got to see what rear I don't know about that one I don't know about that mess we got to do something different about that oh there's a there's a data play right there we'll look inside in a second but let's see what gears are in this thing got 2 and 1/2 hour ride home all right so it's hard to tell looks like it's got 325 rear gears in it if that makes sense I'm not sure it's got all aluminum Peterbuilt Wheels dude that's a solid start on the rear some Yokohama they look kind of like a trailer tire we might have to look into that but these tanks are freaking nice this truck's pretty nice it is pretty sweet what's the interior look like oh I see one problem already though you see it no I don't oh it's got Mufflers on on it dude we don't want Mufflers on this wet kit did you just call this a wet kit I you are fired dude this thing's nice so what Mr Donnie does he told me is he sets he kind of buys these trucks he'll stretch them and uh make them look all really nice and get these old cabovers kind of cruising again but it's a classic wow they don't make them like that no more who oh my gosh dude that's so sick is in such nice shape old school air condition truck does have air condition though but that's how like you wanted to save some gas money that's how you did it right there it's crazy dude this thing is so slick dude this is the factory interior Mr Donnie said he said it's never been messed with all original now of course the carpet is a little bit newer but this thing is in amazing condition check that out shifter I know that shifter is one of a kind too ain't it wow let me go ask him for the key and we'll fire it up anything you see here I got this for sale I don't get attach nothing yeah same here I've never drove a shifter like this before yeah it's old you start out and direct yep both through your first Gears and then go up there and then that's high side and then you splp the overdrive and then back to the W overd drive back to the W oh it's just like it's just like the other shifter knobs except they just think just pull the button up and down and put one way so what speed transmission is this it's 13 speed okay you know the pattern yep okay same pattern as a n speed 13 speed ain't nothing but a n speed with a back box yeah we'll figure it out I'm sure it Chang is real easy sounds good too this thing sweet here you go guys it's about as classic as it gets man this thing is in incredible condition the sleeper all she needs is a little bed back there got an eight track player yep wow this thing is cool old ether button for starting it up back in the day some air pressure put in these lines and see what happens in a second deep reduction huh that's neat old school air condition backup air condition I I got right GE I can't tell oh it's a cab over son [Music] Brer dude for real this thing sweet it is pretty cool all right going turn my air condition on down here oh there we go dude this thing's a unit a it's got busted windshield weot to get one of those this Cruis it is he said it does have 3 36 rear gears in it oh that's cool this thing is such a classic it's Big Steer wheel it's like the original one peterville emblem in the cter there this thing's awesome I don't think it has jake brakes though that's you need a light Ryan that's so cool this thing is just cheery dude it drive so nice yeah it do it's not hard to steer no not at all this truck does not have power steering guys but back in the day when these trucks were built without power steering they were actually designed to steer really really easy so that's why also why it has such a huge steering wheel so would might put power steering on it I don't know but I kind of like the Nostalgia and how classic it is but now power steering this is sick it is pretty cool what do you think I think I think it's pretty pretty pretty sweet what are these air conditioner so what we're doing right now we got to run down here to the bank with Mr Donnie we're going to uh put some uh you got to sign some documents for the title in Alabama you got to get some stuff notorized whenever you like do title transfers and I want to get all the way back to Tennessee and we go to register this thing in our name and have some issues so that's what's up right now about to pull to the bank like it rides might I say a lot better than the old Great Liner really you look everywhere you look there's so much classicness that's a be word the classicness of the truck look at the look at the these things look at these things up here is pretty cool so Mr Donnie said that the uh he went through the engine and put a new injection pump ejectors injection lines fuel lines kind of what he does he gets these old trucks like this fixes them up puts newer airide cut offs on the back of them it goes through them so the engine is actually in really nice shape we'll get back to the shop here a little bit we'll lift the cap up look underneath it and check all that out we're about to the bank let's go in here and do some paperwork [Music] [Music] guys this thing drives absolutely Cherry I thought been going like 75 80 mph almost righty they still got low Pro Tires on the back so got off right here at the exit it's like you know what I don't know I'm going fuel in this thing we got to fix the fuel gauge on it's there but it ain't hooked up um so amongst a few other little things we got to do on it this thing drives really nice oh yeah and it's way smoother than I thought too like way smoother so going to put probably like 25 gallons of fuel in it we'll be back to the shop here shortly going good some [Music] so we stopped over here at RLC Motorsports classic stopping point oh we got rubber up here everywhere you been doing burnouts I don't know dude that gross well which tire is it Ryan this side ain't it I think this back tire right here oh oh you know what this is oh no it's that paven crap oh shoot that's why I've been smelling Tire smoke look at this yeah the fender is rubbing into the tire that is not good and it's all over the back of the cab why didn't you say something how do you not see that smoking while you see all this little you know hand signals I was giving you you're like but you couldn't even give me a call could jeez Ryan oh my gosh you didn't feel the back end slide well that's when like the brakes are locking up that's normal with no trailer but the whole tire is about to melt off of it I don't know the difference on you're literally I I guarantee you filmed it while we were driving there's going to be footage of this smoking while driving and you just looked right at it I mean I was mainly looking you literally just looked right at it I know what it was like oh it don't matter golly dude you said you're getting tires anyway getting them faster now I guess we're going to have to jeez that's what you call Self clearancing right there yeah that's a whole new wi time oh my gosh now don't touch any of this we got to let all this rubber dry and kind of get a little hard and we can pressure wash all it off so what do you think about that deck plate I think you need to put it on your truck I mean this all right here this is going to be one of the first things we take off I think the fell we got it was so proud of it but it's easy money how come on now I don't know it's not my cup of tea so last time we stopped here the video got like a million views or so did it with that old cap over you the scan you yeah that truck what a banger but this a peak so oh you got to see the inside the inside's where it's at though is it let's check it out so talking about earlier trucks up north don't have AC didn't have it good lord it's all original other than the seat and carpet of course but like all the leather I mean the radio says I mean that kind of says it all yeah all I'm saying is if you drove this truck you're a man yeah period y see how big that steering wheel is oh yeah you know why it's so big you know why it's so big no power steering no power steering I Wasing to say be PG you are it is nine turns lock to lock so it's weird cuz you're like whenever you're driving whenever you make like a steering adjustment it's not like this it's like this cuz it takes so much motion to do a turn yeah here at 3: and 9:00 literally we're going to move yep it does have front brakes so that's a plus what you just said it was 72 78 78 and what's crazy about it is it's only got I think a 7 digigit Vin no kiding yeah I I had no idea I was looking at the title paperwork I was like oh shoot this says 76 yeah that is the other plate on on the front Okay so it's a 76 I mean the truck's actually pretty yeah it is it's got a the old man that we got it from is it leaking anything figure that dud we're doing solid what little thing oh it's on the cab jack or something leaking some diesel oh shoot it's probably from that's probably from a Ford been in the parking lot though it's definitely coming off that that's why I was getting 3 mil of gallon just water in there it seems like it didn't smell like diesel probably just some water from that inside there yeah heas got newer Peterbilt air rides low air Leaf same thing it's on your peter buil basically no kiding yeah that just needs to be loosened and pulled out look how close this side is though you got plenty of Gap here oh we're about to put different fenders on it and different tires I think we're going to do some like half half fenders on it look good damn it Ryan I really didn't know I really I really didn't know dude that thing got hot too look at where it turned blue there jeez I thought it looked pretty sick you were just like like all it's supposed to be like that I don't know all I seen you slam on the brakes yep start tail certain swing got four driver today 3 hours that's good when to break it in literally yeah dude this thing run 85 mph no problem oh yeah we were definitely D this gu tall gears the first one wck also yeah oh yeah yeah so it's crazy cuz it goes down here goes through the sleeper with a pipe up to the top so they can pick up fresh air literally but I can only imagine if you blew a steer tire out you just destroyed your air cleaner there but you you probably rolled over yeah all kinds of bad stuff happen I mean it's a bad day yeah all right we're going to kick it to the shop I'm glad we did stop to see where our tire about to blow out dude looks good it really does well get back to work on our flatbed burnout truck man Qui quick we got to get this sucker ready all right guys we've got Braden Fitzgerald little Bray Bray driving the Peterbilt cab over in the shop here for us to Tinker with it and uh he just found out it ain't got no power steering does it [Laughter] oh these backwards fenders look terrible jeez they look so bad all right back it on up look at him trying to steer it oh this is comical put it in reverse ter look on back I'm on back all right right there hold it hold it right there shut her down shut her down shut her shut her down what you what did you just say say it again what are you talking about say what exactly what you just said it's not a joke say it yeah it is it's not about you though just say it okay that mud flaps cutting the tire what's it doing Ryan Ryan drove by me getting roller shots and in the video you can see the mud flap rubbing the tire and flapping and smoking listen but we didn't notice until we got all the way here Len when you're driving I just filming and it threw rubber all over this the tanks the deck plate the back of the cab should make you clean it I got to clean the car too cuz I thought it was love box are you serious Ryan it's all over the car it's on the windshield so it's all over the Mercedes I couldn't figure out how to work the freaking windshield is that a deer thing on top no that would be the air intake so right now we've got Lake we are underneath the Brutus truck we are getting we had to we're taking the de tank off and we've got a fuel tank removed right now what we're doing is putting a shorter fuel tank on this side of the truck and the de tank we're going to do a hidden de tank kit so what we're going to do is um put the de tank up underneath the hood because we're about to put our lift axle on here in the next couple days so in the next couple days very soon this lift axle right here or uh whatever you want to call it is going right here where Lake's sitting probably not no in this general area right here so we've got to like I said we got the de tank pulled off and what we're going to do is reroute all those lines to up underneath the hood right inside this little Gap right here and our friends over at semi casual make a de tank relocation kit and they're going to mount under there for us but we're going to get this lift axle mounted under here and then uh throw this thing on the RGN holl it down there so it doesn't get pissed off with all of the de lines and all that unhooked and we can't drive down the road like that because it has coolant that circulates the de tank also so guys this truck is got almost everything Factory right when we see the interior look how clean this interior is you still cannot get over how nice it is look at this Lake how clean the interior is even got ashtray for all your Vapes you can put all your Vapes right there really weird it's got the wood grain the door's like s all right well now that we've seen all that let's get this cab jacked up somewhere right here do you even know what you're doing I don't think so find out make you going to be here all day doing that I don't think so oh there you go this one moves pretty quick compar the old freight liner really quick actually so there's no reason to have the cab All the Way Forward because we found out when you open these oldies like this all the way up something bends or twists or something so we're only going to open it up as far as we need to but there it is gosh dang cumings in here o sh we did I did hear a belt squealing a little bit probably this alternator belt oh she Loose as a Goose Loosey Goosey down there so I need snug delator belt up on it this thing's actually in nice shape like pretty nice yeah we don't got any lights down here do we like I got a flashlight got your phone light y yeah right there yeah look at the alterator belts they are so loose see them can you see them can you see them this thing is in really decent shape I I did hear like an exhaust manifold leaking gasket leaking a little bit somewhere so I need to find out where that's at but kind of a big turbo well it's so big and bulky cuz it's Old School 1979 dude the year I was born look at that all aluminum radiator oh this thing I was wondering why I didn't have like a fan clutch cuz this fan spins all the time it is really clean though like the guy did a really good job it has like a obviously like some kind of a light restoration job done let's go look at the other side oh check that out that's different compared to like we used to where the grill like stays with it look at that that's neat Transformer interesting oh I was see I was wondering because remember I seen the a switch on the floor right I was like what the heck is that for I asked him he's like oh I'll tell you what old Sean that's so you can start it watch well with the key turned on you you can spin it over no don't worry about it well the key turned on you can spin the engine over and work on it right here I remember that yeah that's pretty neat and this gear box the shifter is a little loose but I think it's just a matter of maybe tightening up a pin right here maybe someone can give us some insight but I think it's just right there just a little loose yeah see the play in there right there yeah all that can be fixed I think we just drill it and put a bolt through it tighten her on up a little bit going be like brand new got some new fuel lines new fuel filter on it looks like he's got a newer uh air governor installed so this right here would have been the compression release right there it's not being used anymore obviously but that's pretty cool to see ain't much for a steering box is it look at that thing maybe someone can help us find a steering box in a junkyard to put power steering on it cuz it's got the the plate down there to put a pump but no pump how you do that Ryan but everything is so original look at this even the freaking battery box right here dude he said that he had all this stuff like fluffed up cleaned up dude she got four brand new batteries in it all mismatching I think this is the coolest thing they've done all right there put a air hook up on it yeah shoot we just put our air impact right there time that's what I'm talking about it's so simple but he did a really nice job the trucks in really good so we come up with a name for this truck here it's going to be Hank someone said oh you should be blaring a Hank Williams Jr song or pulling hang William junr tour bus a trailer that's the name right there yeah tour trailer whatever so Han the Peter Built cab over what do you think we need to do first BR what do you think I don't know tint no we can't tint a classic fresh cleaning I think we remove the deck plate and put no you got to keep the deck plate no I don't think you need to keep that maybe remove the deck plate that's a great idea first and install new Merit Merit deck plate yeah good idea uh I think the next thing on the list we'll just State the obvious here okay would be we find some good tires to put on it since these are roached now no thanks to the cameraman uh yeah no suggestion clean all that up that too and you know what my trailer is about time for any new tires on the trailer so I think this might be okay enough to run still since it got just the tread there so we might pull these off put them on the trailer and uh put some maybe some of them takeoffs off the electric trucks yeah cuz the wheels are brand new they look really good you know what fenders TIR and wheels on you know what fenders would look good on this thing some half fenders like these we should hit up our friends at for State CR they make a kit just like this that bolt right onto that air ride or or the Quilted fenders those look sick oh oh yeah the Vendetta quilted okay from four states how you spell quilted Ryan close enough it says quitt does that say quitted vendors tire T and W tires and wheels yep I think we need to get smaller fuel tanks right either we get smaller fuel tanks or we take these and move move them all the way up but these are what 130 Gall capacity I think it needs two 100 gallon tanks on it maybe two new fuel tanks I think they either way they need to be moved up yeah I think so too so maybe put two smaller fuel tanks on it and that gives us a lot more frame section here make it look longer that'll look good we'll get some brass we'll weld up all these holes in the frame give her some fresh paint and then and a headache rack and you got to get rid of the no headache rack on this the Mufflers you know I was thinking this is such a nice exhaust job already that we just leave the Mufflers on it maybe you guys comment down below do we leave the Mufflers or get rid of them but I think it's classic it's got the old school covers on it we let it ride sounds good as is so maybe uh we're going to have to rewrite this like I would never pass as a teacher we're drawing on the Whiteboard here no you wouldn't Le said we need Square tanks Square tanks Square tanks like circule on the inside the outside you squared off moving back here the back there's some funny business going on with this Frame right here we need to take and cut it down like that like it should be to the back back here and uh do something different with his rear hitch system he's got going on here and just put some different kind of lights on here cuz I'm not the biggest fan of all that right there what especially our rear fender flares here whatever call them what if you did one of those things like on Brutus yeah we did something like that right there so we just do some classic mud flap petert mud flap with some hangers like that and a center right there from like trucks think I think that look good just that that's that's enough stuff that we can get all the parts here and knock it out in a couple days yeah without getting too crazy on changing up the whole truck now something we need to address power steering do you leave it with no power steering classic big wheel steering wheel maybe we'll try to Source a power steering kit if we can find one I'm not sure well ask them yeah comment down below does anyone know where we can get a power steering kit for this thing or maybe someone has a kit with like power steering box and Reservoir and all that good stuff then we got to get the AC working so this thing does have an Old School rooftop AC system up there where the condenser is mounted in the condenser fan doesn't look to be in the best of shape so I've seen some companies that make new rooftop AC systems maybe we get that put on there and the train horns are lacking oh yeah train hor so let's put a power steering question mark AC and then horns and then your uh frame thing in the back mud flaps re light jeez re Light Panel yeah that spills lot doesn't it all right so there's our plans with old Hank here here we go the boys decided this is our new beer pong table dude yes we just got to get Ryan to scr the rubber off of it Mr what was his name Mr Donnie if you're seeing this I know you love this thing but it's just not our style actually this going to be a really long beer pong table it's like we could cut cut it kind of shut that way off all it's like embed like aluminum embedded Ste well there it is now I should a place to set it up at the new so looking right here there's a frame support missing we might need to put in here this is a 13-speed transmission this got some seriously heavy duty drive line in it like heavy dut really really heavy duty stuff there you see where the dry shaft was made right there and shortened pretty solid stuff so now we got this huge piece of open frame we got to find something to cover it with so what I'm talking about doing is we get some of this right here and run at the link of it from our friends over at Meritt and we just get a whole piece and we paint it black right here in the shop I think we know somebody does paint work right to white white would match no if it Lake had it his way paint it purple so Dar all right well that seals the deal we know what we need we need to get a deck plate that's 37 ft long we got some projects in the shop finally on top of moving stuff we have so much to get done it's crazy yeah we we do ran we ain't moving anything else we retired from moving business for real boy claiming unemployment and everything wonder what this air filter looks like that air filter looks brand new down in there too all right right there couple different projects all in one video we're going to get the headache rack off this thing and try to get the axle underneath here maybe we'll just be bouncing back and forth between the two go ahead it on up keep going you on the ground and keep the back go ahead up keep going take it backward from the trip bit this his first day operating the CR all right hold it hold it oh I forgot oh go down with it shoot nice that's I [Music] quit we still need to go up enough to get these bolts out yeah I know oh yeah I guess so we can show you guys what this will look like this will go just like that boom but painted black I think it look good all right see what this looks like all right go and pull it back with some right now probably be a good time to go and replace these lights I thought about putting like LED why would you replace them you can't even see theth want see what it looks like oh got thing high gear all right put it up there in the front keep going down [Music] right take it on up you messed up that was him reminds me of the good old days when this thing was all stock all right we don't need these death tank brackets anymore them right there all right so this right here is a bracket that also holds a lot of air solenoids and different things like that as you can see some of them are being used what we're going to do with this is we bent this to make the um deck plate deck plate fit I think so we probably should throw some paint on that so what I'm thinking is we're going to have to hook there's in the inside the truck there's four switches on the dash to activate these and we'll hook our Airlines from the fzy what'ss it to that all right let's grab all this out from underneath it get that axle [Music] team work and extreme work say the guy in [Music] left what cammed out [Music] so we got the axle pushed over here into place it's definitely going to be a little bit of a tight fit in there but I think it will fit just fine once we get all these mounts pulled up and in their home where they go it looks like this is so this axle came off a Kenworth which is the same thing packar Peterbilt whatnot and I think some of these holes May line up because of the universal style hookups there and I'm not sure what brand this axle is actually I'm not too sure but it's going to fit on this your truck and I do hear an air leak over here we need to find out coming from the shifter maybe somewhere down in there well guys a little bit of a long drawn out video Hank our new cab over project big things coming for it in about 3 weeks um I'm sure maybe some of you can guess what that is thank you to everyone that's been patient we're waiting on merch we will have our merch shop completely set up once again once after moving to Jamestown um probably sometime I think th tomorrow Thursday so probably Friday shipping all the there's not very many orders there's probably 15 or 20 orders I need to go out um and then
