[Music] so [Music] game night new york city is in danger evil villains nefarious plots tonight on game night earth's mightiest heroes might aaron lincoln and nikki will save the world or try anyway in marvel united a game for one to four super beings designed by eric m lang and andrea published by simon and spin master games so come and watch us try to save the day in four color comic book print hey aaron hey lincoln will you teach us marvel united i will uh marvel united is a cooperative game as you might imagine because superheroes work together to defeat evil threats um we are playing the base game here and there are already several expansions if you like this game and it looks like we're having fun playing it stay tuned we may do several other shows about the expansion content so this is the base game we are superheroes from the marvel universe and we have chosen uh ant-man and the wasp and captain america and black widow we also have in the base game available iron man the hulk and captain marvel we did not choose them for this game we have for the villain side of things the red skull who is uh the recommended starting villain uh ultron and task master who we've chosen as a little bit of a challenge a little bit of a harder uh starting foe for us this time we have six locations here in new york city where most superheroes somehow end up fighting crime somehow there are eight in the game but you choose six randomly we have central park and times square the shield helicarrier avengers mansion stark labs and avengers tower they each have special little abilities and taskmaster has placed random threat cards on each one which will also affect the game we'll get to those and we each have our hero deck of 12 cards we will now draw three cards for our starting hand you will notice that we are playing with these beautifully painted miniatures courtesy of lincoln himself right here the basic miniatures that come with the game are wonderfully detailed and very cool they come unpainted like this blue for the heroes and red for the villains these are some expansion miniatures that you might see painted at a later date so we start with three cards each the villain has this master plan deck that i'm going to get to in a moment how do we win and lose this game uh we win by defeating the villain taking his health down to zero seems fairly simple but we can't even attack him directly at the start of the game wow we lose in one of three ways the villain completes their master plan taskmaster doesn't even have a master plans these other villains do but taskmaster does not win in that way the only ways we can lose to taskmaster are he runs through his entire deck when it's time for him to draw another card and process that phase of the game if his deck is done game over we've lost or one of our heroes has run through their entire deck has no cards in their hand or their deck right it's time for them to draw game over so those are the two ways we lose there's essentially a clock on the game that's another iep game man so we will need to make some progress and defeat him bring his health down to zero here on the uh locations we have civilians that need to be saved that's these little blue tokens we have thugs that need to be defeated that's these red tokens crisis tokens will be placed by effects in the game that's these little exclamation points and these are threat tokens these little purple skulls those are the tokens that we need to need to manage throughout the game here's how the game will go we get to choose a starting player from among ourselves let's clear our decks out of here because we're going to need some space around new york city okay but the very first thing that's going to happen is the villain is going to act i'm going to show you a couple of these cards before we shuffle and start not fair most games start with bad before a good happens taskmaster started in a random spot he's he starts here we start opposite him but it could have been anywhere so we flip over a card from his deck he may move could be zero spaces could be up to five or so in a clockwise direction so if he had flipped this card you're going to look at his icons and execute this card from top to bottom in this case he moves two spaces clockwise if there is a bam icon on his card he'll execute the bam section of his villain card in taskmaster's case he deals one damage to each hero in his location so if he had moved three spaces all around here and he does one damage to every one of us that means we discard a card from our hand that's not too bad because it goes on the bottom of our deck and it's still going to be available to us but it's going to reduce our options on our next turn if you discard all cards from your hand you are ko'd your figure lays down until your next turn no game effects can affect you until you stand back up you draw four cards when you stand up from being ko'd okay as we play the game our cards are going to be laid out around new york city in a storyline a little nod to the theme of a comic book story line but those cards are going to be essentially used up and laid out permanently around the board and that's how cards are going to be gone from our hand and essentially the clock ticking throughout the game so taskmaster if his bam icon comes up does one damage to all the heroes in his location and adds a crisis token there that's what he does if he shows this symbol where he adds civilians and thugs to his location the center square means for the square or the location that he's on he could also add thugs and or civilians to adjacent locations this card that i'm showing you he adds a civilian to his location and one on each side each adjacent location left and right okay and then the last thing that could happen on the villain card is a special uh effect that will just tell you exactly what it does in the text box there that's the entire villain term then we take hero turns starting with whoever we've chosen let's say i'm the first player and i have my full hand of three cards if i was ko'd i would draw up to four cards on any other turn the first thing i do is draw a card now i choose one for my hand to play usually it's just gonna have some symbols on it and we're gonna form this circular story line around new york city like i said it could have a text box of special effects and we'll get to those when we play them there are generally three types of symbols green is move red is fight or attack and yellow is perform a hero action these are very simple symbols move is uh just move one space left or right clockwise or counter clockwise around the city the red icon is deal one damage to a thug at my location all things being normal one damage will clear out a thug in your location you can attack a henchman taskmaster does not have any but sometimes these cards will be henchmen that you need to attack or you can attack the villain themselves once two of these three missions are completed we'll come back to that in a moment the yellow icon here is heroic action and that lets us place an icon here to clear away these threats we've got a special icon special tokens here okay or rescue a civilian the other thing that that yellow thing can do is get a civilian out of danger if you rescue a civilian it goes on this rescue civilian's mission if you defeat a thug it goes on this defeat thug's mission and if you manage to clear a threat by completely filling this card with heroic action icons it goes on this clear threats mission makes sense as i said once we clear two of these missions that's when we can attack the villain directly when we are at his location early in the game we won't be able to do that and we'll just be managing the crises around new york city now one cool little bonus as i mentioned heroes work together after my turn nikki's going to take a turn and she's going to lay a card immediately to the right of my card and she gets to use the symbols on her card and the previous card to the left even if the villain has played a card in between those two cards the the previous hero card you always get to use the icons on that so nikki gets three symbols on her turn two deal one damages and a move uh lincoln for instance hand me a card is gonna also benefit from nikki's symbols and he make it four actions on his turn a move a deal one damage and two heroic actions so we're gonna con consistently build on each other's previous actions right so basically except for you know the text boxes which you do not use the previous card for you're gonna get double use out of all these icons sweet yep pretty cool occasionally from some special game effect you'll be able to hold on to a token and save it for later use if you've got a token in front of you like that you can just use that as any other action icon on during your return you can once you spend it it's back to the supply i don't know the the actual deck makeup of every hero but some of them have a wild icon which means you can just choose any one of those three actions to do a move a deal one damage or a heroic action nikki clean that clean that card up for me and put it back to the starting set and throw that uh icon away you're not going to let me i'm not going to let you start with a free bonus action sorry the only other thing we need to worry about is these threats that taskmaster has seated the city with um the for instance here in times square we have an explosive trap until we clear this card by placing those three heroic symbols on it each civilian in this location requires an extra heroic action to be rescued so normally one yellow icon would clear a civilian from a location but this one takes two to place the civilian up here kind of a bummer we may decide not to deal with this right away or to not focus on that it makes it difficult thematically taskmaster works alone he doesn't have any henchmen backing him up and he has set these traps all over the city which basically all they're going to do is make us use extra tokens to get rid of his stuff he's got two explosive traps which make it harder to rescue the civilians he's got two entangling traps which make it harder to move off of the locations unfortunately we've all started there it takes two move icons to move out of that location that's rough and he's got two uh elite thugs which means if there's a thug it takes two damage to clear that that icon that token sorry instead of one another couple little wrinkles for taskmaster and these are basically special rules explained on his icon or his uh villain card if his card effect would add a thug or a civilian and there's no room on the card for that for instance if he wanted to add two thugs to the shield helicarrier we added one and there was no room for the next one he adds a crisis token instead what do crisis tokens do heroes cannot damage taskmaster as long as there are any crisis tokens in any locations wow so any crisis tokens in new york city have to be dealt with before we can attack him the way we discard a crisis token from a location with no civilians or thugs so we have to clear that entire board first then we can use a heroic action or a damage action to clear the crisis token so he's going to start really wrecking up these boards for us and we're going to have to deal with it one bit of good news before we get to the other part of the bad news once we do start clearing his traps here we have a little bonus here on the on locations if we managed to get this explosive trap cleared away we now have a bonus action on this location when you move here you do your actions you maybe fight the vill fight the thug or clear the civilian and now you have an end of turn action on each of these spaces which if you moved there and got there you can for instance rescue a civilian for free move to civilians or thugs each each location has a bonus action that you can process during your hero turn none of them are currently available in the turn okay after every three hero turns not a full round around the table after every three we draw and process another villain turn another villain card after we clear one of these missions any one of them if we clear this one it just clears if we clear one of these we shift down to the right we are putting pressure on taskmaster things are getting hairy for him now he will act after every two hero cards he increases the pace of his cards coming out and as we mentioned clearing a second mission means that he's now vulnerable vulnerable to damage we can now attack him directly you do not have to clear the third mission to win the game but doing so means we all immediately draw an extra card so it's a nice bonus but if we even get that far we may just want to focus on trying to win the game and defeat him he's a rough foe he's got some tough things to deal with we made we may lose well before then draw your three cards if you haven't already i would say after a taskmaster takes his turn we should choose someone who can maybe thank you put him back in his starting space if anyone has like double movement we need to get out of uh avengers mansion if we can because he moves one space clockwise bam he bans deal one damage to each hero and put a crisis there each hero in that location right oh so no crisis but no and a crisis oh no damage to us because we're not in his location it's two different things okay then he puts then he puts a thug here here and here okay there's a thug there's a thug and there's a thug and that's a lot but luckily no special text nothing else besides that that's a lot already lincoln i think it's fine for you to start what uh card are you gonna play here i'm into the storyline and uh for simplicity and to make everything go clockwise let's put our first card at 12 o'clock on our clock there and then we can make to play and we'll have two heroic actions nice which gears it gets us so that maybe we can be dealt with this can you just be done right right i agree and whatever the bonus is in that and well mike will get to use your two icons right you can save a civilian on top of that that sounds perfect unless taskmaster appears and damages all four of us yes we're trying that it absolutely could i mean absolutely uh so is it my turn it is your turn i i'm gonna draw a card i have a question though oh um so if i place the the final token here then then the uh the thread is exactly clear i'm gonna play uh this card here so i'm gonna first use one of these to finish up the threat okay so that so what uh so that's threat here what is the end of turnability until you have three in your hand oh nice so if you if you've gotten injured you can get back up to do three starting but you've got to either move to or stay on that side yes okay so that's one of these then i'm going to move sure so where's my uh i'm going to move this so i'll move here to the stark labs so that's this one so i have two left so i think i'm just going to put two of the uh hero what the hero actions right the heroic heroic actions yes i'm going to use that let's um no we don't need to worry too much about it yet black widow is done ant-man is ready to draw a card and spring into action uh oh hey that's me oh save that one for later and now we can move with a single thing right right that was my goal that was what i no you helped me thank you lincoln that's good well i know we're all going to thank you i'm sorry thank you captain america that's right i'm going to go all right i'm just go i've only got one symbol unfortunately okay i'm going to follow black widow i'm going to go move over here that's this one yes thank you i will attack what is the is it the double attack one but if you do this first yeah that's first taken care of all right let's do that yes all right so one heroic action clears that and then for the third you can get a punch punch sorry now now i can do the end of turn i will read it it says you may swap one card from your hand with one of your cards from the storyline you can get one of your super cards back oh but i don't want to do that yet no you know all the cards in my hand are better than that one crappy card i just used so now it's taskmaster's turn to draw and process a card he moves two spaces clockwise to avengers mansion there's a band we're going to get hit nikki captain america and wasp discard a card of your choice oh i didn't even get to do crisis avengers mansion and then and that is a civilian looks like on each of those spaces and that's an overflow he's going to crisis the carrier oh as well ooh yes and that's all of his actions he has no special texts that's too much already that was a lot but we made some progress and uh it's your turn don't forget you're gonna get my extra damage action okay all right you need to end your turn here nikki p oh no no this is the way you need to enter your turn what does that mean yeah i know oh draw an extra card did you draw yes hmm get to central park handle those thugs wow that is pretty bad over there there's a lot of men i was going to worry about these guys but now i think i need to go somewhere else and deal with the overflow yeah do what you can do so i will go wait what did you leave me like me a punch yep so i will do a double wild and i will move over here so that's a movement and then uh this is for civilian civilians you can punch yeah you can do a punch punch yes three punches punch punch defeat some thugs no the move was one move was one of them all right defeat so she only has two punches oh yeah yeah you're right yeah yes and yeah punch punch correct okay okay bam bam lincoln has two wilds plus draw and play yep wow i really wish i could get i guess i could get to times square or something like that i left you two wilds i know times square as well central park is like going to be a mess i know that's three yeah well i could three minutes only gonna take care of one that's the problem um go slow go where go where you can go yeah we'd love to get over there though um well i will move i'll do this oops there we go yeah just getting tight in there keep that circle okay so i'll move two and then i will punch two thugs punch punch bam and i leave two fists for the next player nice weird cleaning up those thugs um all right okay i draw so i have two where wilds want to go it's going to cost me here's the two wilds though so that's the two moves yeah and then uh two punches punch punch let's go kick some more thugs so you know you're in a spot where you're gonna have to spend two to get out of there well somebody can help him clear it or he yeah but i need to kill some thugs too we i agree i think that was good all right that's my haircut moves three to central park no bam oh no he just moves and he scatters some civilians okay one here one there and one okay that's it that's great that's fantastic yep see see that's what i wanted to do too i'm glad you're we did the right thing yep we worked together that's right where am i i'm over there again i have two wilds okay here we go look at this four wise wow in fact you might want to come back here and get that back yeah later uh i have a card that does the same thing ah that's awesome so one move right and three whatever you want to do three of them just finish it finish it and yeah just leave the civilians yeah and clear the trap yeah let's do that that's the hardest thing right yep so clear the thing and then what's the end of turn effect that i did you may search your deck for one card and set it aside then shuffle your neck and place that card on top oh why not it's a demonic tutor [Laughter] okay what do i want oh well you left me wild though i sure did that was part of the thought that's why i left i left the wilds leaving nikki spent hers beforehand yeah but you can get it back yep so i'm going to punch punch punch two stars yep one two for the wilds and move over here so i can get another card so i can go back to four because i got because you were injured it's a heel yeah very good all right i think we're doing pretty good avengers imagine it looks like tunt mansion from archer yes it does look like the style of like an archer cut scene yes establishing shock yeah okay um let's see can you finish where are you i'm right in times square oh can you do it oh you can't get up there's no thugs in range no need to come join the central park but this thing is so close i mean i can deal with that i know but it would be cool if we could do both of these right simultaneously it's going to have a turn i bet lincoln could do one i could do one i was i know but his turn is coming i'm just thinking what if this next turn wrecks everything that's sure does sure is possible especially we're going to be going to uh a taskmaster card every two every two series very very soon yes so if we can time it so that it's that's the idea quickly i mean because these easy to take out with one instead you know it's not on one of those difficult locations which are they're all gone aren't they now so we only have the civilian ones that are challenged right yeah okay well then i'm gonna i guess i will finish that one let me see what i get if i do that i move i need at least one wild right i'm trying to figure out what i can do to make this valuable let me see maybe i come with you all no but the punch gets rid of the crisis if he clears he needs two to clear the civilian and the civilian must be cleared to clear the crisis i can i think i can do it let's just use that one well yeah so you're gonna move yep here okay so uh that's the move now i punch which i i won't do first i'll clear the civilian i mean i'll clear that yep we've got this so now he's going to come up which is fine he's coming up anyway oh yeah i'm sorry this one yep looking at looking one way and grabbing another um and then uh the punch will take care of that uh crisis it's not a punch actually it's uh it's a then the yellow will take care of the civilian yes because it now only takes one and then last the punch will clear it's a punch or a heroic i need to go here to draw my hand up yeah okay no no but you don't get to do that okay you've already done an end of turn effect you don't get to do this end of turn effect as i said i may move to anyone looking right yes but then you don't get another ending right you're right absolutely right you're right absolutely correct just move to where you want to be the next turn that's what you should do now we have now cleared a mission yes as we know he he was already going to act now this is the perfect time exactly because he was already going to act but now he's going to act every two hero cards so but that was a great turn all right uh thugs to task masters location for each fist at the bottom of the last two hero cards in the storyline so just one so just one nice yeah we've gotten pretty lucky so far yeah all right so mike's turn my turn then taskmaster goes again we gotta remember okay let's draw a card first here we go okay so i have two wilds to begin with i'm not moving i'm gonna kill some stuff up right well yeah we're not going anywhere no that's a hard place to move yeah you need to so and if you clear the thugs we can we can start damaging him once all the crises are cleared he cannot be damaged while there are crises on the board okay so which i mean i'm definitely going to clear some of the thugs do you want me to clear the rest what should i do or whatever you think thugs are great because it just takes them off and it gives us space in case he drops more civilians or thugs so oh that's not gonna oh yeah you're gonna lose that um i think it's better i don't want to use it i want a different card don't we all although i had that card i was trying to hold on to it for like to deliver some damage to him you know because yeah i've kind of got one i've got a card i'm holding yes but you could lose it too that's the problem if you hold on to things right so i have a uh move a punch in two wilds so so that's one punch where's that so we'll defeat the thugs i said now i have a move into wilds um so he is technically now vulnerable to damage except for his special rule about the crisis i think it's better if i uh so i'm going to use that one so i couldn't move out if i use the um if i use the other move or if i use the wild then what i have what i have left i would have one more right which would let me um oh these are taking me a lot maybe i should stay there and do that i think you should just stay there and clear as much as you can right so let's well yeah because he can so we've been fortunate that he's only dropped one yeah there are cards where they drop more than one yes or one of each everywhere yeah okay well not everywhere but it's always in those adjacent that's what i mean yes so i guess i have two while i'm not so i'm not going to move so i'll do one of one here with the uh heroical fashion and then i'll uh i'm going to take one of these with my other wild one okay yeah sounds good okay i'm done go ahead check this out i already know what card i'm going to draw yeah where am i i'm over there what's the end of turn effect again there you search my deck okay i already did that one because you got the card you searched for it all right and then you left me punch and a move yes okay that's perfect basically you're welcome all right all right you're gonna love this nikki here we go okay i'm here check this move out wasp all right i'm gonna play quantum leap swap this card with any of your face up cards in the storyline wow that card becomes the one you played this time yeah wow double wild again so i think what i'm going to do so i have move attack and two wilds nice i think i'm gonna move here with everybody and clear this with the two wilds with the two wilds and then punch the thug sure sure this makes sense right yeah punch bam otherwise i could go clear that space but we need to get over this one so this just goes these go away yeah yeah because they've already already cleared those dimensions in a turn you may move up to two civilians or two thugs in any combination from this location to any other locations interesting we may as well just like spread it out yeah and let's see yeah he's we don't want to stack up any other ones i think that's fine right we don't want to stack one the nice thing is we do have a taskmaster action yes we do you do have a double maybe we can move and punch him that's right well i mean mickey's going to have a good turn no matter what maybe or can do we have to get rid of these to be able to punch him yes yes we're going to be heading this way all right here we go oh zero and bam oh but that's a damage for three of us okay that's a toss a card all right toss a card to everyone but wasp nikki okay two wilds plus whatever else well i'm only down i'm down to one card so it's getting close yeah um one thing that i skipped the one rule i forgot is if you do get ko'd the villain bam effect triggers oh okay and it even mentions in the rules because that can cause more damage to other players it could trigger like a cascading ko effect and knock out other players which would trigger a bam effect that could knock out another player so it could be bad to for instance all be stacked on the same space as the villain if someone gets knocked out it could cause a really bad let's get out of there yeah let's get out of here well or just don't get knocked out potentially can deal with this which is great and ideally he'll move and not just sit and keep hitting us like that card all right nick you ready yeah i'm going to um oh i had it and then i lost then i lost it i mean you definitely want to clear that crisis if you can well that's right and you'll use the oh this is what i'm going to do i'm trying to do that but i don't want to use my ability on that card because it's no good right now so i will do this and we're going to use the wild as two heroics to get rid of the um because you can actually go above your starting point and when we need some heels and then i'm going to use my punch to get rid of the crisis good mm-hmm cool and i mean that card's filling up you might want to move over there this is you may swap one card from your hand with one of your cards in your story lines oh you can get back uh give back your double wild dessert yeah yeah we'll go here yep and i have to get rid of the car swap that's great actually yeah because you get rid of that's great goes in your hands yep okay yep that's perfect captain yeah that's okay that's what you have um what's a move and a fight well yeah there's nothing to fight we've we've we've de-thugged the city pretty well yeah i'm going to do this because it's really all i have we really need i will we need water yeah that's good civilian right and then you get rid of the prices yeah that's great and then you well you can now you can move things from this card is the end of tournament okay you can move so if you want you can move do you want to move you should probably move right yeah i guess i'll go counter clockwise they don't want to get hit by yeah and then you can search your you can get the to get a card from your dad i'll see what i i want to go before taskmaster but the rules do not let me do that no okay okay i got a shuffle yes not that i actually know what's in there i know i'm like shuffling four cards is always kind of silly but okay okay taskmaster moves four spaces to attack wasp bam great one two three four bam discard a card and place a crisis and then uh three more thugs three more thugs here they come the duck so thug here yep a thug here at least they're not overflowing though the city in decent shape on that yeah and now it's all filled up on the side again i know but you know it could be worse could be worse you're right it could be worse blackwood okay dry car interesting interesting okay so where do we want to go we i have what i have a wild that's all i have i have my movements are not so good i mean i guess i guess we do kind of you want to get this and we do sort of i said my movements are so good you have to clear those yeah so definitely take two each i know i know that's a huge downhill believe me so that's like well we really need six yellows because we do these three first and then okay so do you want me to go where do you think it's better for me to go to there the times square avengers tower uh well well we need to focus on getting these off so these are the two locations yeah we're not going to win without fighting i can't i know but i can't get this star flap so i should go to times square yeah okay and he'll head your way anyway okay here we go so i'm gonna do that so i'll do the uh one move from the wild and then i will uh do the two heroic actions yeah nice okay and that's my turn that is your turn and i luckily have a pretty good card here i have a move and three heroic actions you're welcome yeah it was pretty good one will clear this the other two will clear two civilians and then you may rescue one civilian from this location yeah that worked out very nicely cleared off so this goes away we've gotten we've gotten rid of all the crisis or threats or uh we threats have this and this and now it's task oh yeah what's he got two spaces to empty central park and then he spreads thugs one overflow so that's a what a crisis there's a crisis and then uh damage to here anybody who's in that location which is also which is also a crisis yes yep okay well that's right we included we're actually doing okay [Music] well 10 more of our turns 12 actually because yeah you get to go to when he would play one more card yeah yeah let's not get let's beat him we need to be we do need to punch all right okay i'll do my two wild yeah and um let's uh heroic action a civilian there we now we all get the draw card yes oh yeah let's do this immediately can i use the card and i guess it doesn't really matter since it's not going to affect this turn but it could affect link lincoln getting ko'd draw another card okay okay then i'm going to punch punch bam bam i can move or i can well oh wait this is the swap again no but i want to leave this good for lincoln or okay this is a search your deck and this is you can draw how many cards you have in your hand three she's pretty so that one's not so good so you can do the search you see it's like search and then put you stack one on top of the drawing next turn there you go okay plus that's a space we need to deal with yep avengers tower okay okay yes oh yes okay i will draw a sharp shuffle [Music] and i will hmm i say well i'll do this for like maybe i leadership i will give a token i'll give it to you so that like you can maybe use it this next turn and do some good thank you um thanks captain america then i get to punch and uh he'll i mean uh well heroic action these folks away so then nicki can maybe deal with the uh the crisis and that is the end of my turn so it's now taskmaster oh at least he's not bamming he moves to your space great but he doesn't bam oh and then a thug and a civilian each of the locations location thankfully it's no overflow so that's really yeah the downer is that's not taking care of that crisis token uh yes yikes yeah and how is it it's fine doesn't he hurt us and no overflow so i guess i deal with that location right if i can i guess unless i have a fight so take care of that thug yeah i don't have much really good stuff here so here we go um i'm going to do this though so let's do this um okay i'll put out interrogate yep so uh look at the top card of the master plan deck you may place it at the bottom [Music] [Laughter] he's thinking hmm my god i want a table talk i can't tablet i think you can yeah i don't see when it's cooperative just i'll show it should i show it yeah and okay so he doesn't move and if he if there's no heroes as location then place a crisis token there so if someone stays there this will be really good for us i think that's great then because i would keep it right right keep it yeah that'll know what it is yeah okay so we'll keep it on top so as long as someone stays there nothing happens next right so i have two punches and then the wool wild token and i gotta give one uh aaron you want the wild token for the leadership you don't get that ability get that you only get the icons i don't like the game i know sorry come on i'll give you the name of the designer to complain there's one here that doesn't have anything if it does that it doesn't help no otherwise it goes it goes in the timeline so it would never be the spend here well sorry aaron i'm sorry no it's not really your fault although unless all i had were all i have were fights i could have really did you have any move icons i had fights and it doesn't really matter fights fight fights that's all i got all right well let me table talk this one okay okay the card i've been saving the entire game okay does three damage to a single target i.e taskmaster once vulnerable a single target not three thugs right a single target yes it is my only move card in my hand so i either waste that card or i do nothing this turn what do you think i should do do nothing seriously i mean you're far enough away that you're not gonna damage him the card's gone unless you land in the timeline the spot in the timeline to get it back out in your hand which you might be able to do i mean we we know he's only got four cards left i'm getting one more turn to win the game right no two more okay we got like 12 more turns but here's the thing even if you got over here you still it's it's it's you're not gonna be able to use it maybe on your next turn that's what i'm saying we wanted we wanted to be the ko blow or take half exactly so don't want it i would rather i mean you could if you land in the space where you can swap a card with your timeline with that card and then immediately play it i mean there's a chance it can be used properly is there a space that swaps this one oh that one i've done it remember we mentioned you i got a card that i can do it i took my wife oh okay right i mean it's great i want in there too eventually if i can do it but that's if you yeah and it's far away from you it's the other side so i should just burn i'll just what you do is you go to the one that lets you move to another location then you just come over here and do it then you have to then he has to wait the way to turn well he's got the card but my point is is but i could be there now so yeah it's true that's right i don't know but there's work to do here right that's you also want to be in a location where there's things to do yeah but all right so do i what do i do this do i do nothing this turn so what does the card have on it it has a single move and then three fights forget yes waste something else because it's it's really yeah okay i mean unless you could go like here and then do this i mean think about what you the next player might want i could take over well i could hit one thug because he because i've got one fight but i mean yeah that's where where i mean that's the other thought all right that's that's kind of the only that's the that's really the only other thing so i'm going to do that and take no actions okay it's not well you might be sending somebody oh yeah that's what i'm doing i'm giving her those icons because she can use them right now i can one good thing is we know that that card is going to be nothing he doesn't move and he doesn't have he's scheming but he's he's scheming and we've countered we're doing well we are but yeah he keeps dropping crisis tokens which those are not very hard yeah all right so wild i am going to heroic action and punch the thug and then you can search your deck for another card might as well okay okay [Music] okay well i will play one of these that i have several of and i will move over here punch a thug and uh heroic it doesn't make any difference punch a thug i guess yeah it doesn't really although we could be no no no no no no no no no no no because i'm gonna get this do the heroic yeah do the heroic and mike's got a whole bunch of red yeah i have a lot of punches okay good and that is that now it's my turn nope oh did you want to move this one move the guy away uh yeah yeah move him over there where there's some folks exactly okay um now we're going to add another card and it's going to go on top of this yep so we keep track moves one and attacks you we'll do it like this really which adds a crisis token and discards a card from your hand come on guys i know bam oh sorry uh and then is that a civilian in space [Applause] heroic there right but i have a heroic let's do this because i oh i get the draw card here we go i'm gonna put it right here oh that's even better though maybe i should do that yes let's do that and help you guys know that's it okay so i have uh two moves just so we know where we're at oh okay your previous car i didn't realize that or should we do two moves wait i need another good right yeah let's do that two moves a heroic and a punch that's all right so i'm here so there's my one move i'm gonna throw away a move but i get one one heroic for this and then one punch for that right nice unfortunately i can't move anything away right uh unless i did this would that be yeah you could take it yeah let's do that let's do that because there's gonna be another one there in a moment yeah and then if we clear that one we can actually maybe do a damage yeah all right let's do that if only i had man i'm so far away from there um that's all i can do it's my turn before he goes right yep all right all right that was mourning my card [Music] that's very sad what what what symbol did you leave me a move and uh i left you a uh heroic yeah [Music] wow i am not much of a fighter you're a lover not a fighter yeah oh you know what i think i can do that actually works okay no no it's good actually it works perfectly i am going to use my special card grow [Music] now the special effects come after so you move i move twice right and then punch punch no first i first have to do all my action icons okay so i move twice then i heroic action okay then i use the text on the special part of the card which is move attack a single target three times okay it's a bit of a waste but it clears a thug yep okay now my turn is over right now and i can do that which is swap what would you like a move or some yellows um well i was trying to get over here so some yellows would be good yeah you can have two and i'll take there you go grow back into my hand now you were saying that if you let's say you played that and swapped it i guess you couldn't it would still be too several back it would never be bad with no symbol meaning right right buddy it's bad guys yeah that's why this is always going to be back in the lineup bad guy it is bad guy turning he only has two cards left to change right now he moves zero spaces no is there a bam cop no man copycat add civilians to his location for each hey guess what no previous punches what was the other one it was oh yeah see there it is over there it was but that's you know what we can ignore these these are not important to winning the game no they're not three civilians because there's no there's no crisis let's forget it we need to go to the crisis oh it's three it's just three we're good yeah this one that space let's central park be central park yeah let's go okay we need to do this and then hit him yep oh draw or you get rid of it and then we can punch him we're right there yeah yeah come on that's the plan she's right next to it yeah come on let's do it come on she's got two heroics which can say she can save those she doesn't have a move in her hand she's moving a punch oh no yeah moving a punch why am i picking up that whole deck so this is my move and it's such a good card that's okay i wanted to fly airship everybody in to punch him oh you know yourself and any number of heroes from your location to any other location you're still saving the world so she moves over here yep and then you have two heroics you can't deal with this though yeah because i couldn't move i could have you know i couldn't move and she doesn't have a double suit okay you save the civilians which is terrible yeah okay come on captain america oh yeah you have a move one move so far yeah it's gonna be close very close because he's gonna go after lincoln oh wait i know wait wait wait wait we're forgetting i get to oh yeah dude take my card back you don't get another turn it doesn't matter why it matters what i leave lincoln with yeah i'm not gonna get over there to deal with it that's the problem i need two movement to do it i don't have it okay here you go here's a watch though okay so mike is with he's not he is with me so i will play this card regardless of what it can do um so i get to uh give a wild which goes to you hopefully you can do something with it maybe and then heroic action which is all i can do and that is my turn before they enter let's move those out and shoot in case you throw some more junk on there away you might as well no no no no no no no no no no can we throw them like like maybe one here one there please okay because oh you you do you want to go clockwise no it's anywhere uh does he only go clockwise he only goes clockwise okay let's put one here just in case yeah yeah okay now we got his last his last his last move right he does not move oh it's dark schemes again if if there are no heroes in his location place a crisis i don't think i can get over there i need two moves and i can't get a move you have a wild i have a while back you can't get a second i do not i have lots of questions then i guess um i have a wild so you know clear something off the board since we can't do anything else so i'll do that so let's go here i'll move and uh oh where am i here we go i'll move here and clear this off with the uh the heroic yeah saving people yeah i'll save people and i can move one more over here do i get another turn no you sure don't but uh let me uh get another turret what's your end of turn effect do you want to choose one well see if i move one turn i can swap a car from my hand one of the cards in the storyline would that help us no it would help us if it gives him two punches where are you what are you i'm i'm over here if you give me a punch well you've already given me a while do you want let's do that so let me move here if you give me two punches i can do more damage yeah let's try that here we go so i'll remove this right no oh no i don't know you don't but if you i'll do this here's two punches yeah we could just that's right this is going to get us as close as possible yes of course there you go perfect there you go there you go two punches bam bam bam so here's here's our final turn uh i guess i get those two punches yep and a move so punch one bam removes that he can now be damaged for the first time in the entire game move me one space to avengers tower uh the second punch goes to waste because i have to use all the symbols before i use the special power special power moves does three damage the game is over and if i could use this other symbol out of turn he would take one more but he doesn't do that sure that's it we lost by three damage and now we can find like we could probably win on one or two more turns yes [Applause] we got way closer than i expected okay with what you guys tell me is the hardest villain of the three in the base set and uh me and mike haven't played this before as far as i know yeah the red skull is tough too but this one this one is crazy like you know there's a lot of uh um a lot of dispensing of k uh the crisis tokens so what do you guys think i'll we got lots to say and i'll tell you a little bit about uh how the game could have changed differently i will i'll tell it's this is a fun quick easy action game for to pick up and it's going to be very popular obviously this is this is i think a fairly popular intellectual property [Laughter] i'm not a huge fan of this chibi-style big-headed uh uh art basically but oh i think i think that's gonna attract it's cute i think it's really cute it's a low price point for just the basics so i think you know this is not my i'm not the target audience for this particular art style it doesn't detract from the gameplay right right it's a it's a fun experience do you think mike i think it's fantastic i mean actually i like the art style i think the price points great it's fun there's a lot to do um i wish we would have won i know we did very well we tried our best let's have nikki say something maybe she's got stuff to say what i was going to say too but go ahead um okay so we we let aaron just pick what he wanted because no he was random it was random we didn't want to influence you in any way so it was random but there are two well one in particular one location other location that once cleared the end end condition is get rid of a crisis token from any location so you don't have to worry about whether their civilians are uh yes it's massive we didn't know it exists we never played it with because we jumped right into this game and started pulling stuff out of the expansion that's almost like i mean i'm almost glad that we did play this on a hard mode this is hard that would have made it too easy we didn't even play with the hard mode the hard noise to remove the while accidentally yeah it's just sort of like horses was medium hard yeah we actually that that was like oh that breaks things right because you don't have to worry about it it's only one per turn and you have to like linger because you have to stay there to do it still i was ant-man in that game and i just stayed there that would have been doing stuff and then dealing with that then doing stuff and dealing with that you know it was uh it made it doable you know well like for you know for instance i don't think this central park ability is very strong at all that moves a couple things around uh the rescue one lo one guy from this location is pretty good oh yeah this one is really good the one that swaps from the story sure and so is this one and drawing back up to three i mean i would have loved to have ended my turn there i needed more cards in my hand you did mention that there was a good location that you did not pick i had no idea we had no idea about it either we're like wow so the first time we're playing taskmaster it was like the ideal location yeah for us to deal with it um yeah i think it was just the two of us oh no scott playing yeah scott was playing too um we were on the stream so he was playing what do you guys know you or scott mentioned that the hulk deck is obviously somewhat simple it's a lot of punching and action but only has like maybe one special ability oh it has two they're both called hulk smash that's perfect what do you guys know about the other heroes in their sort of flavor how they work uh iron man is like a they're both these are characters that do things for others like captain america does right okay i think um distribute two attack tokens from the uh from the to any number of heroes it doesn't matter whether it's you or others um this is two moves to any other number oh wow mine work too only to other heroes yeah uh which makes more sense he's very selfish yeah captain america right yeah you may draw three uh cards until you have three which is great you know considering i would love to have something like that in my deck yeah um she has punches that um can she can deal punches to other locations and stuff like that she's pretty pretty um punch stuff this is this was the one that saved our bacon in that oh that's clearly because you're able to go and just i was able to do a couple of major like punches i noticed ant-man does not have a lot of red in his deck there's not a lot of combat besides that one big super move he's an ant no i know he's very small he can deliver some damage for sure i like that there's flavor to each deck yes there's a sort of key to each uh hero there are definitely heroes that help other heroes yeah and they're not so great on their own but they're good if you can come back yeah but the whole you play they play the icons i love people so i did paint all these minis uh i was very excited about it because i was trying to do it in as you see they come basic and you know pink or blue and there's purple i think in the new x-men because they're both good and bad characters right so you can uh play them both ways i think they have some like the venom is in here in both heroic and uh uh um but i wanted to do them with the technique that was as fast as possible i'm a particular painter i'm okay i do i do a nice job but take forever so i was trying to use the gw paints and the contrast paints contrast paints you just paint one coat you don't worry about it and then you um uh and you you could get like these cool effects the way this even works better it it really works for like organic things like if i was painting groot groot's awesome because he's wood and he's got recesses and if you paint contrast paints on him it's going to look like bark and it's awesome these long larger smooth surfaces which is exactly what these are right um don't necessarily work so well so you we use a method that uh adam loper is really promoting uh adam smasher you paint in black then use xenothon highlight meaning it's the sunlight right you paint from a specific angle with white on top of the black and then that gives you the highlights and then for example you see like there's shadows where the sun is going down on his coat then you just put this coat on top of that so you get that the pooling of what the paints do in addition to the xenophel highlight and they're they're quick and i was doing it because i wanted people to see that it's actually pretty simple i i mean i painted this character in like an hour an hour and something usually this something like take me a day because i'm just ridiculous and i can't paint like that this one i did paint sort of my own style because i used metallics so it had to be like fine lines it's hard to like pat fix those because these paints are relatively transparent sort of and i kept going back and forth on that to get it clean and so i decided no metallic so then i have one other one that uh ultron has a little bit of metallics but i didn't i painted the coin but i didn't really paint him with metallics i did the i did what basically would become non-metallic metal where i just used the paints and i tried to do a little bit of that where it looks like it's kind of metallic but no metallics but it's very simple to paint these and i really encourage people because this is a very good starting game to learn how to paint minis i mean i did the hulk in an evening no problem with me yammering on the live stream but he turned out really great uh i wasn't actually happy with his pants uh they were too dark united the purple um and so what i did is i went back and dry brushed highlights on his pants a little bit and then put another coat of a different lighter purple on top it made it look more purple um cool but they're really fun i really i it's such a great way to get into the hobby as far as painting your minis and stuff like that and i think it's really really a fantastic value and there's a lot of expansions there's already like five boxes wow oh wow at least i mean there's a stack over there and um and then they have the uh x-men one that they just did uh a kickstarter for with another bunch of expansions as well and that all of course covers the x-men and deadpool and things like that so it's really a fun game i think it's really clever this so the other designer i like this storyline and then the other designer is uh alessandro i can't remember his name but he did um kingsberg you know the game yeah you know um he's got some great ideas too and i think the two of them did a really wonderful job it's a lot of fun a lot of fun theme this stuff really works well it all meshes well together yeah yeah right and the heroes can act kind of differently like red skull actually has a villains villain i'm sorry villains uh red skull actually you play with this little tesseract cube and he's got a countdown chart villain and um that's in the base game and then there's the um the other expansion oh yeah that plays totally differently oh yeah the sinister six the sinister she has six villains out wow wow and uh yeah it's it's challenging that one's a real tough one still the same storyline and they're still the locations but it's it's a different gameplay that's interesting so you have to deal with it so you have to deal with the sinister six to be to be able to even you know it's it's neat it's very challenging i like how kind of flexible the system and actually we talked about like what previously offline we were talking about the stardew valley system could be applied to other games this can absolutely be applied to other ips uh depending of course we're going to get the ideas like this would be really cool as a star wars game you know with lots of different characters doing different things and stuff like that so yeah it's really really well done all right i look forward to seeing what guest star heroes show up in our next expansion thanks for teaching aaron you bet and thanks to
