you have sent yeshua our messiah even when we were yet sinners scripture says that you sent him and he died lord we want to return to you with our whole heart in every way all the time lord we bless you and thank you for the blessing of worship tonight thank you for the blessing of this cahillah this congregation coming together to lift our voices and to lift our hands to you into your name lord we exalt you above all others in the name of yeshua our messiah amen um if you would uh please join us for the blessing of the children and families father um we just come before you as a congregation thankful for the blessings of these children and these families we asked father that um it would help us to raise these children in the way that you see fit that you would strengthen the husbands and the fathers that you would guide the mothers and the wives and as a congregation let us help one another to raise these children to bless these children for they are a blessing unto us you have given them to us you have entrusted them to us father but we can't do it aside from you i also pray father that for this day this day of atonement that everyone here would lay their lives down at your feet father in true repentance and ask that you would strengthen us and guide us father i feel a heaviness and an importance leading into the sukkot i can't explain it but it's different this year and for me at least so i just pray father that we would come in alignment with you as we enter into this important time of the year we just give you praise and worship father and i pray that we would place all of our hope and trust within you and if there's anything that is pulling us away from you that any distractions or anything that is not of you would be removed and that we would follow you above all else and place our hope and trust within you we just love you father and we praise you you are good and let's always rejoice in that we pray and ask this in the name of your son yeshua mashiach amen shabbat shalom everyone well on this on this day of atonement yahoo i need you is that not true after reflecting today how much trouble i can get into by myself without the father with me so appropriate song because we sure need him let's look at this week's torah portion we're in deuteronomy 32 we have one chapter this week we have an important chapter right we have the song of moses and the name for this torah portion is ha azinu which is give ear i mean he tells us the very first line right give error listen he wants us to listen this is important okay uh as we go through through this we'll we'll kind of see what it looks like but you know this is also mentioned in revelation 15. uh because this this is a song of redemption and who is our redeemer messiah yeshua right so these two this tied together and that's what's what the ultimate song of moses is um let's start off with you know as we start off with the first of it he calls two witnesses does he not heaven and earth that's the very first verse give ear o heavens and i will speak o hear o earth the words of my mouth we have two witnesses heavens and the earth they never go away this speaks to us he did that because it speaks to all generations until the earth and the heavens pass away he's giving this this is a prophetic statement that he's given us here and this is right before his death you know and he also he references my teaching what is he talking about my teaching he's talking about the torah right is that not what he taught is that not what the prior books were that was the torah that is what he's teaching he also references uh we get into 32 4 he starts glorifying the father right he calls him the rock he's our rock uh and what's interesting is if you look at the half torah portion this week in second samuel david makes the same same statement he's our rock right he is our rock um and david repeats that you know how perfect is his work you know those those type of glorifying words to the father he brings to mind here as we continue on in uh 5-14 we hear of all the blessings that are that are afforded to to the the children as they go into the land of canaan uh you know riding high riding on the high places the fatness of the land the form of the wine all these wonderful things there to look forward to right as children of the father but then as we go along further we get into 15-18 we have the fall the fall of the people right and he usually uses a little bit of sarcasm here you know jerusha rum that means the blessed one or the raised up one but in this sentence here he talks about him growing fat kicked you grew fat you grew thick you grew a beast they turned away from the father right what were they doing they were worshiping other gods right he's warned us about this over and over so this is a prophetic warning from moses to the people of what was going to happen in the future that pertains to us is to us as well you know we're not to fall away from this and as we get into uh through 25 we get into god's response the father's response to this you know disasters hunger plagues teeth of the beast all these things that are that are going to happen because we've fallen away we've moved away from the father but in the end you know there's rejoice there's joy because there's redemption is there not the father gives us redemption through the messiah that's why this is tied to the song of the lamb in revelation 15. these two are tied together because of that you know he says you know he's going to revenge the people it says rejoicing gentiles with his people for he will avenge the blood of his servants and render vengeance to his adversaries he will provide atonement is that not what we're looking at today his atonement atonement for his land and his people there's our promise there's our promise at the end our promise of salvation um you know as this book closes out um you know moses in verse 46 uh he laces it on the line to him and let's look at 46. and he said to them set your hearts on all the words which i have testified among you today which you shall command your children to be careful to observe that's our instruction we're to teach we're to teach this to our children or to teach this for the generations for generation after generation has to know this all the words of the law for it is not a futile thing for you because it is your life and by this word you shall prolong your days in the land which you cross over the jordan to possess so he's given us our instructions right here as parents as fathers as people you know as followers he's given us our instructions we're to teach or to teach this law or to teach these words or to teach these warnings and then in closing you know he the lord tells moses that you know he's going to go up on the mountain to look because that's he's that's going to be his final place and i think what's important there's a couple important uh words in here uh one is because it's not because of what he did it's because of what he did not do right he did not honor the father at that time you know he he did not hollow his name that's what moses did not do you know and that's what is important we have to hollow the father the father has to be glorified through us because look what happens if we don't you know we'll see the land but we won't enter is that what we want to do i don't think so uh would you join me in prayer please dear heavenly father our lord our king we we thank you father uh we thank you for this day of reflection um i i just ask that you give us all guidance to take these words that you have given us these words of warning these words of redemption these words of atonement these words rejoice father that we take them to our heart um that we seek out those things you know as this day closes you know seek seek out the things that that we seek atonement for and teach us to follow those things to to write those things before your father in yeshua's name amen is that right not quite there we go that's better okay um i know probably some of you are hungry and i know probably some of you may even have headaches and body aches and all kinds of stuff going on right now so i'm going to try to get through this quickly and i'm not going to tell you how many pages i have [Music] we're supposed to afflict our souls right so what time is sundown 7 30. all right i got till 7 30. good all right let me open up with some prayer heavenly father we praise you lord we love you lord we thank you for this opportunity to come and to worship you we pray that our worship is pleasing and exalting to you and lord as we come and and open your word i pray that you administer to us through your word that your holy spirit would minister to us that you would speak to our hearts and our minds and draw us closer to you lord we thank you for the salvation we have messiah yeshua we thank you for lord yeshua we thank you for your blood we thank you for your sacrifice we thank you for your love for your atonement lord we praise you we love you in the name of yeshua amen all right if you have your bible with you turn to leviticus chapter 16. we're going to start here tonight leviticus chapter 16 and verse 29 is where i want to start and we're only looking at three words so i mean how many hours can i go on three words right [Laughter] challenge accepted no just kidding i'm hungry too so i'm gonna try to go quick and just to be honest with you my mind is a little bit slow right now and i don't i'm guessing that's just because i've been depriving of food but i'm really having a hard time processing thoughts today so people have asked me questions and i just look at them blankly and i'm like give me a second let me think about that let me see if i can get my brain to turn on so i can process the words you just said to me so anybody feel that way is that just me okay everybody else does too good all right so try to process as we're getting through this see if you guys can catch what i'm saying hopefully some of it makes sense anyway all right leviticus 16 starting verse 29 this shall be a statute forever for you in the seventh month on the tenth day of the month you shall afflict your souls and do no work at all whether a native of your own country or a stranger who dwells among you for on that day the priest shall make atonement for you to cleanse you that you may be clean from all your sins before the lord it is a sabbath of solemn rest to you and you shall afflict your souls it is a statute forever and the priest who is anointed and consecrated to minister as priest in his father's place shall make atonement and put on the line and clothes the holy garments then he shall make atonement for the holy sanctuary and he shall make atonement for the tabernacle of meeting and for the altar and he shall make atonement for the priests and for all the people of the assembly this shall be an everlasting statute for you to make atonement for the children of israel for all their sins once a year and he did as the lord commanded moses all right so the three words i said i want to look at is afflict work and atonement okay we're gonna look at those three words that's it out of all that okay so this will be quick afflict the hebrew word for afflict is ana and it means to be bowed down afflicted humble weaken discipline treat harshly and submit and i want to look at a few examples of how this word is used just to give us some context of what it means and how other places where it's used to help us better understand what it means to afflict our soul and it's used slightly differently depending on the context and so we'll see what's interesting is is uh if you are doing it to yourself it means different if than if someone's doing it to you and i think that's really interesting but in some places anna means oppression and harsh treatment for example when god told abraham that his descendants would become slaves in egypt he used this word to not to describe what would happen to abraham's descendants in egypt he said they would be afflicted so in genesis 15 13 it says then he said to abraham or to abram actually this is before his name was changed he said to abram now know certainly that your descendants will be strangers in a land that is not theirs and they will serve them and they will be and they will afflict them 400 years and this was a prophecy that god gave to abraham about israel going into egypt and going into slavery right and so this you know this is abraham years and years before so we have abraham and then isaac and then jacob and then jacob had 12 sons right and then joseph goes off into egypt he becomes second in charge of egypt and then his family comes over and joins them because of all the harsh times that are going on with the the famine in the land and they end up raising their families in egypt and eventually a new pharaoh comes into town and he doesn't like them and he makes them all slaves he makes them build bricks and they're basically slave labor for the pharaoh and it says that they would become afflicted and you think about that that word afflicted in that con in that that uh context well that's that's a very harsh treatment right you know you think look at how they were treated in egypt they were whipped they were beaten they were put through very strenuous hard labor you know it's not it's not fun in any way but god said that they would afflict them for 400 years and so at the end of that 400 years you know moses comes along and sets them free they go out and to the wilderness and get the commandments and then 40 years later get to show up in the promised land because they took the long way around instead of the shortcut right but exodus chapter 1 verse 11 tells us more about this affliction it says therefore they set task master task masters over them to afflict them with their burdens and they built for pharaoh's supply cities pithem and ramses so these task masters were over them and forcing them forced labor to work right but that's one use of afflict in the bible we see another type of affliction when sarai or sarah abraham's abram's wife again is before the name change how she treated her slave hagar and he uses the same hebrew word so genesis 16 6 says so abram said to sarai indeed your maid is in your hand due to her as you please and when sarah dealt harshly with her she fled from her presence and that word dealt harshly is ana it's she afflicted her and you know we don't know all the details of what that looked like but she was treating her slave harshly so probably whipping her of some sort right and sarai fled all right i'm sorry hagar fled from sarai and obviously it was so bad that she felt she had to escape she was being treated very harshly she didn't feel like it was fair obviously and so she ran away most of the time slaves understand when they're treated harshly and they you know they say well you know my master was mean to me but i probably deserved it right but hagar obviously felt like it was more than she deserved and she fled but three verses later we see the same word used differently so genesis 16 9 it says the angel of the lord said to her speaking to hagar the angel of the lord said hagar return to your mistress and submit yourself under her hand and the word submit there is ana so an angel stops hagar and says go back to sarah and submit yourself annoy yourself to her afflict yourself to her submit yourself to her humble yourself to her and so you see it's slightly different what she is doing she's submitting herself that's enough but when sarah was punishing or afflicting or treating harshly hagar it was also not you see other the context is different but it's the same word but it implies a different meaning different understanding of how that's used and so uh you know she was being disciplined harshly and she was told to submit by the angel go submit to yourself now you might say well she was to submit herself underneath the discipline of sarah so is that the affliction he was talking about maybe but the word used there is a nice to submit yourself to humble yourself now flip over to exodus chapter 10 and listen what god said to pharaoh this one's interesting use of this word as well so moses this is uh exodus 10 verse 3. so moses and aaron came into pharaoh and said to him thus says the lord god of the hebrews how long will you refuse to humble yourself before me let my people go that they may serve me the word humble there is ana how long will you refuse to afflict yourself before me how long will you refuse to humble yourself before me submit yourself before me and so and if you look at the the scenario with pharaoh god wants pharaoh to humble himself and to submit to bow down to god almighty right but because pharaoh would not submit himself wouldn't humble himself before god what does god do he afflicts pharaoh with plagues and he sends all these different plagues into egypt you know the frogs and the flies and the blood and you know all those different things right and then the last one the death of the firstborn all of that suffering all that affliction all that torment could have been avoided if pharaoh would have just humbled himself to begin with right but he said he hardened his heart he refused to submit he refused to humble himself and because he refused to humble himself then god had to humble him and so the the thing we can learn from pharaoh is if you don't submit yourself if you don't humble yourself then god has to humble you and if god has to humble you it's a whole lot worse than if you would have just humbled yourself right so you know we see with pharaoh he uh his pride was a big thing for him his pride and his arrogance as you read through that story of pharaoh it was because of his own pride and arrogance that he refused to bow down to humble himself to submit himself to god the bible talks about him having a hard heart and it's referring to his arrogant and his pride his unwillingness his stubborn unwillingness to submit and to obey but this use of ana as to humble himself or to submit himself is it's not really about harsh treatment in this scenario because pharaoh refused to ana he refused to humble himself he refused to submit himself that use of it's not about him being beaten and treated harshly it's not about slave labor it's not about uh harsh treatment of of uh you know the israelites or harsh treatment of hagar is different right you see the difference between this he's just he didn't humble himself enough to submit and say you know what i'll let my pe i'll let your people go that's all i had to do is say okay you know what i you're the god of israel you can have your people i'll let i'll let your people go that's all he had to do for him to anna to submit to humble himself enough to say i i respect the god of israel so this is a different scenario different use of the word or not now look at deuteronomy chapter 8 and consider what god did to israel in the wilderness deuteronomy 8 chapter 8 verse 2 it says and you shall remember that the lord your god led you all the way these 40 years in the wilderness to humble you and to test you that word humble is again anna is to afflict he led you in the wilderness these 40 years to humble you and to test you and to know what was in your heart whether you would keep his commandments or not and as we look at the wilderness wanderings of israel we see that they went through some hard stuff you know they they were hungry for a time but he gave them food gave them quail and manna they were thirsty for time but he gave them water from a rock right they grumbled about various things various situations happened they had enemies come against them they had a lot of trials and tribulations they had a lot of hard times but god brought them through those hard times for what says to humble you and to test you to know what was in your heart whether you would keep his commandments or not and you know there's times when we go through stuff like that too we go through hard times and i know a lot of you probably have gone through hard times recently and keep in mind that he he allows us to go through things sometimes sometimes it's to humble us sometimes it's to to test us sometimes it's to see what's in our heart to see if we're gonna obey be faithful hang in there don't let the wilderness keep you from the promised land okay that's the that's the message we learned from the wilderness right we have this generation of people who died in the wilderness because they wouldn't do what the lord told them to do don't let the wilderness keep you out of the promised land keep going press on through the wilderness remain faithful to him because he is faithful to you and he's going to provide if you know if you're thirsty he's going to provide water from the rock who is the rock it's yeshua paul talks about that he talks about how the rock followed them in the wilderness which is curious so it wasn't just that they had to keep returning to this one spot to get water but the water was following them it seems but these wilderness trials and tribulations that we go through they're for a purpose and the bible says god will not test you beyond what you can bear he's not going to let something happen to you that he knows unless he knows that you can bear it that you can handle it but he causes sometimes he causes afflictions in our life to humble us now let's look at deuteronomy chapter 7 and this is a different type of affliction we see as well though deuteronomy 7 11-15 therefore you shall keep the commandment the statutes and the judgments which i command you today to observe them then it shall come to pass because you listen to these judgments and keep them and do them that the lord your god will keep you keep with you the covenant and the mercy which he has sworn to your fathers and he will love you and bless you and multiply you he will also bless the fruit of your womb and the fruit of your land your grain and your new wine and your oil the increase of your cattle and of the offspring of your flock in the land of which he swore to your fathers to give you you shall be blessed above all peoples there shall be there shall not be a male or female barren among you or among your livestock and the lord will take away from you all sickness and will afflict you with none of the terrible diseases of egypt which you have known but will lay them on all those who hate you so he says if you obey if you follow all my commandments if you obey me and follow me and do everything i say then i'm not going to afflict you with the terrible diseases with the plagues of egypt right if you obey me i'm not going to plague you like i plagued egypt but this again the word there is ana so we submit ourselves to god if we humble ourselves to him in doing what coming before him and saying you know we're we're your servant we serve you we love you we want to obey you because that's what a servant does a servant obeys their master if we obey him we submit ourselves to him we humble ourself before him and follow him and do what he asks he says i'm not going to afflict you in those ways i'm not going to afflict you like i do the rebellious people but if we're stiff-necked if we're hard-hearted if we refuse to obey if we let pride get in the way we want to do our thing our way instead of doing it god's way he says that he will afflict us he says there's a blessing if you obey and a curse if you disobey right so we're starting are you starting to understand how this word afflict can be used in a bunch of different ways so when we look at the commandment of afflicting your soul the day of atonement and actually it's it's uh the day of atonements it's it's i'm not torah it's yom kippur yom kippurim it's the day of atonements it's plural um but we always you just kind of refer to as the day of atonement but if you think about all the different atonements that are taking place you look at the the priest atoned for himself he atoned for the sanctuary atoned for the altar he atoned for the people he atoned for all kinds of stuff right so there's multiple atonements going on on this day and he says that the priest is the one doing all this work the priest atones for himself the priest that comes for the temple the priest atones for the the the altar the priest atones for the people the priest is doing all this work and he looks at us and he says okay you need to rest and afflict yourself and if you look at all the rest of the year you have every other feast day every other shabbat every other event the people bring a sacrifice so you know you look at passover the people bring a sacrifice to offer you look at when there's other types of sacrifices going the people are the ones bringing the sacrifice and this one the people don't bring a sacrifice on the day of atonement okay have you ever noticed that you're not responsible to bring a sacrifice and the i want to clarify about the purpose of afflicting yourself because that is not a type of sacrifice there is there are people who misconstrue it into saying well this is our way of earning our salvation we flicked ourselves in order to please god right so that he'll heal the tone for us that's not what it's about the point of afflicting yourself there's there's a lot of things to it but you're humbling yourself you're coming to god and saying i i'm unworthy i know i cannot save myself i know i need you to save me this is humbling yourself right you fast why do you fast well you're living like a dead person because you acknowledge if if if i don't get saved if i don't have this atonement i'm already a dead person you're living like a dead person now because you know if you don't get the atonement you will be dead you will be a dead person right and you also think about why does why does god have us fast and afflict ourselves on this day well if you're in a fasted state you've gone without food and water for a certain amount of time you're weak and you realize your weakness and you realize i i don't have the strength to to do anything fasting shows us our own weakness our own frailty it's not because fasting is gonna somehow save you it's not a work of righteousness that's not how you attain atonement that's not the purpose of it it is about afflicting yourself humbling yourself before god showing your weakness understanding your weakness and saying i i am weak and i need i need you to atone for me i need you to save me that's why we fast if you think it's just to somehow please god and to earn your atonement then no you're wrong but we see this you know there's affliction that self-affliction and we see this affliction that comes from the hands of someone else and every time you look at this you see the self-affliction is always the better route to take right if i flick myself that's a better thing than if somebody else is afflicting me because if somebody else has afflicted me that's harsh that's strict that's brutal that's hard to bear when you afflict yourself it's about submission it's about humbling when someone else afflicts you it's about pain and suffering so it's always better to humble yourself than to wait and be humbled but we're commanded to afflict our soul to humble our soul and the soul often as you look through the bible the soul often refers to our appetites this is why fasting is appropriate for this day i know there's a lot of debate about whether or not you should fast or not just fyi i fall on the side that says i think you should fast but your soul refers to appetites and desires and so by afflicting your soul you are you are restricting your soul from getting its appetites and desires met you're denying your flesh as what paul would refer to it as denying your flesh so we deprive ourselves of food and pleasure like i said earlier it's is we're living as if we're already dead we're acting as if we're a dead person because we're acknowledging that without his salvation we are dead something that um i actually heard recently that i thought was really interesting is that you know one of the the traditional greetings on yom kippur is may your name be written in the book of life for a good year right that's a traditional greeting what's interesting about that you know we all know about the book of life in the bible revelation you know there's reading the book of life at the great white throne in deuteronomy uh moses talks about having his name blotted out of the book of life if he could save the people we have several references to the book of life in the bible what's interesting is apparently that is back in ancient times cities would have what they call a book of life or the book of the living and they would keep track of all the citizens of the city and they'd write their name in the book of life and when they died they'd blot their name out of the book and so you know if you consider this to be a city or whatever you know this is the congregation this is all the people in the book and if you die we'll scratch your name off the book so you're no longer on the books right you blot you out of the book that's the literal reference that it's making i thought well that's really interesting because in you know in revelation it talks about how our names will never be blotted out of the book of life well that's talking about eternal life we'll live forever we'll never die but whose names are blotted out of the book well those who don't receive eternal life and i thought about citizenship in heaven right it talks about well if you do these things you will not be citizens in the kingdom you know these things will get you cast out you know if like for example in this commandment he says whoever does not afflict their soul will be cut off from the people that being cut off from the people means you're no longer part of the community you're out it doesn't mean you're going to immediately die but you're going to be treated as if you're dead your name is blotted out of the book like a dead person we read in galatians about the things the works of the flesh right he says that the works of the flesh will by no means enter the kingdom of heaven anyone who does these things he lists off a bunch of things he said if you do these things you're not getting into the kingdom of heaven the works of the flesh will get you out they'll get your name blotted out they'll get you kicked out of the kingdom and i thought that was really curious it was really interesting a new perspective i've never heard before and it's not in my notes i'm rambling so let me move on but we afflict ourselves to show that we are dead that's why i got off on that tangent because it's this idea that to get your name blotted out is is like you're a dead person right we worship the god of the living and so we we afflict ourselves to humble ourself to show without your salvation i'm dead without your salvation my life is nothing so we offer our life into the hands of god and we say lord take my life let's move on to the next word so the first word was afflict the second word is work what does this word work mean i'm doing okay on time we'll make it okay so we're told not to do any work on the day of atonement and the hebrew word here is melaka and it means occupation work business duties craftsmanship or labor so it's referring to your business your occupation your labor and but it also refers to craftsmanship and uh duties so things you might be typically required to do you know well we've got chores we've got responsibilities i've got school you know those are like your duties that you're required to do so it encompasses a lot of stuff it's not just your labor not just your business not just your work where you make your money but it's also other duties you have and you know this craftsmanship is a word that could even entail hobbies right this is your craftsmanship so we're told not to work on this day so we don't do our regular job we don't labor we're told to rest so you don't do your work you do your rest and i want to look at a couple of examples of in the old testament this and then i want to look at some really interesting examples in the new testament the first time this word is used is speaking of god resting from his work right in genesis chapter two it says and on the seventh day god ended his work which he had done and he rested on the seventh day from all his work which he had done then god blessed the seventh day and sanctified it because in it he rested from all his work which god had created and made so this is our example this god resting from his work and this is a pattern that's established for us and and he you know this is why he gave us a sabbath right every sec every seven days we're supposed to take a day of rest we don't want any work and so every week we we learn to rest when they get it went into wilderness he established that pattern again he said okay so six days you're gonna get manna the seventh day you're not gonna get manna the guy tried to go out looking for manna the seventh day and he's like oh man there's no mana right so they they learn this pattern for 40 years they go through the wilderness six days you can gather manna seventh day you don't get together manna you rest they learn how to rest they learn how to have a sabbath it's modeled after god's example of what he did for us i want to look at the greek word in the new testament concerning work in luke chapter 13. it says but the ruler of the synagogue answered with indignation because jesus had healed on the sabbath and he said to the crowd there are six days in which may not to work therefore come and be healed on them not on the sabbath day so we see this is the same exact scenario talking about the sabbath rest the type of rest you take on the sabbath six days you work and the seventh day you rest so what is this work here the word used here is and forgive me if i butcher this because that's a weird word ergazo ergazomai ergazomai so and it means work trade occupation perform performance you know so perform this is where you know like a lot of people they question well should we do any kind of athletic types of things on the sabbath should i let my kids play football or whatever on the sabbath i think this performance also would fall into that category and then we have practice another one of those things so work trade occupation performance practice commit commitment or acquired by labor so it covers quite a bit of stuff and again you know it seems to be the main focus seems to be on occupation your trade your labor but there's a little bit of other stuff that it seems to come encompass as well and like i said the context of luke is talking about six days of work and resting on the seventh day he's talking about the sabbath the type of rest we would see the type of work we would cease from when we are on the sabbath and listen to how peter uses the same word okay so in acts peter uses this word in a different context acts 10 verse 34 and 35 it says then peter opened his mouth and said i tr in truth i perceive that god shows no partiality but in every nation whoever fears him and works righteousness is accepted by him and so he used this word in a totally different context now he's talking about working righteousness doing righteously and he calls it the same word works works righteousness he says and whoever fears him and works righteousness is accepted by him so this is a good thing he's talking about this righteous works is a good thing the book of hebrews uses this word to refer to works of righteousness as well in hebrews chapter 11. this will give us a little bit more context of what this may be referring to verses 32 and 33 says and what more shall i say for the time would fail me to tell you of gideon and barack and samson and jeff none also of david and samuel and the prophets who through faith subdued kingdoms worked righteousness obtained promises stopped up the mouth of lions and so on he's at this you know hebrews 11 he's talking about all the the great men of the bible right the heroes of the faith and he's going through and given examples of how these men did such amazing things for god and all the things they did and he says you know they they didn't receive the promise yet they're still waiting to receive that promise of eternal life but he says they worked righteousness all these great men of the bible worked righteousness if you go through the list you'll see guys like abraham you'll see guys like isaiah ezekiel and noah and david and gideon is that a video game somebody playing a video game in church oh man uh let's see where was i yeah they they were working righteousness works of righteousness now let's flip over to titus chapter 3. paul's talking about works also but when the kindness and the love of god this is uh three verse four but when the kindness and the love of god our savior toward man appeared not by works of righteousness which we have done but according to his mercy he saved us through the washing of the regeneration and the renewing of the holy spirit whom he poured out on us abundantly through jesus christ our savior that having been justified by his grace we should become heirs according to the hope of eternal life so he said is not by our works of righteousness that we are saved he says is by the work of yeshua and what he does that we are saved and so paul i think he's making a point that we need to bring back with us to leviticus so we look at leviticus 16 and he says that we're to rest and to afflict ourself and that the priest is going to handle the work that's what paul just said isn't it paul said that it's not because of our works not because of anything we've done not because of our righteous deeds our righteous works that's not what saves us it's because what the priest does yeshua our great high priest is because of what he does that atones for us that makes sense see how what paul says applies to what was being taught in leviticus this isn't a new thing god didn't change plans it wasn't something that shifted thousands of years later paul didn't invent a new religion this is the beginning this is the video this is in the torah is what god's plan was from the beginning you can't atone for yourself and he tells you that you rest and let the priest do the work because you can't do it this is god's plan from the beginning like i said before at passover too is the same thing they're said by grace through faith and the blood of the lamb they didn't do anything to save themselves from egypt god did all the work god saved them they just had to apply the blood it's the grace of god that got him out of there but paul is getting this idea straight out of the tour he's not making this up he's looking at the tour and he's saying the torah shows us plainly it's not our righteous works that save us it's the work of the priest well who's the priest this is the problem judaism has today they don't have a priest they don't have a temple they don't have sacrifices so whether they done with atonement they make it all about works that you do all these mitzvot you do all these righteous works to try to earn your forgiveness to atone for your own sins they can't they cannot atone for their own sins no matter how many righteous deeds they do they will never had known for their sins they need a priest they need a sacrifice and they need a temple what they don't realize is they have one they just don't acknowledge him this is why i've told people you know we're the only people who can keep the feasts because we're the only people who have a priest and a temple and a sacrifice you know when people come along and say well we can't really keep the feasts we just practice them no you keep them you have a priest go through your priest he has a sacrifice receive his sacrifice he's in a temple we have a great high priest his his temple his priesthood is better than anything that's ever been on earth anyway why don't downplay it and act like oh we don't have a temple so we can't have a real feast really you have the best temple and the best priest but we cannot make atonement for our own sins and that's the problem that judaism is facing today is because since the destruction of the temple in 70 a.d they haven't had a priest they haven't had a temple they haven't had a sacrifice and so judaism has changed their theology has changed it's no longer temple theology it's synagogue theology it went from a temple-based religion to a synagogue-based religion and so they've had to adapt and they say well since we don't have a priesthood tone for us we have to figure something else out well let's make our righteous works our atonement that's problematic because the bible says you can't atone for your own sin and so we need to be praying for them that they will see messiah and believe and understand that he is their atonement but we're commanded to rest from our works it is not just to rest from your job not just to rest from you know clock and punching the clock and paying the bills not just to rest for mowing the lawn not just to rest from doing your chores we're to rest from our works to cease from trying to do it ourself to cease from trying to earn our salvation to work our own righteousness he says to rest from that to trust in him and let him be our atonement so let's look at what the word of atonement means so we talked about afflicting yourself we talked about work let's talk about atonement i'm getting close where am i out on time we're still good there's still sunlight coming through the window even if i got done early you guys couldn't do anything about it might as well go till the sun goes down right all right so what does atonement mean the hebrew word for atonement is kaffar and the day of atonement is called yom kippurim i mentioned this earlier it's atonements the day of atonements so the word kaffar means to cover over okay this is where you get the word kipa right the the little hat that is worn on your head is a covering this is where the the ark of the covenant has the cap on it right it's a kaffar it's a cover when you put something on top of something else you kephar you cover it so it means to cover but it also means to pacify to atone for to make propitiation to pay for to appease to cancel forgive be merciful to pardon to purge away to put off and to reconcile we see these uses in various places throughout the bible this word has a lot of uses and so depending on the context as to what it's referring to so let's look at some of a few of these places i'm not going to look at all of them obviously we don't have time for that do we is it an hour till sunset oh i thought it was seven i thought it was half an hour oh man just kidding all right but i'm gonna look at a couple of these just for some examples so genesis chapter six we see that noah covered the ark with pitch same word kefar says make for yourself an ark of gopher would make rooms in the ark and cover it inside and out with pitch with tar basically and so he covered the ark he made this giant boat out of wood and he covered it with pitch so that you didn't see the wood anymore you saw the pitch you saw the tar and not only could you not see the wood but the wood was impenetrable at that point you couldn't it didn't spring a leak you know this sealed it up so that it was not going to leak the water wasn't going to get in so this covering not only covered it so you didn't see it but it also protected it shielded it sealed it up the bible talks about how we are to be covered by the blood of yeshua right same concept that his blood covers us the way that pitch covered the ark what does that mean well you know you've heard to talk about how well you know when you're covered by the blood god doesn't look at your sin he looks at yeshua's sacrifice i think that's a true statement i think we see that in scripture it's to cover our sin make it like it didn't exist we're also sealed just like that ark was sealed by the pitch sealed by the blood what is that to keep stuff from getting in that shouldn't be in keep sin from taking over right to protect us next we see the word kefar used to mean appease this is one some of you may or may not be familiar with when jacob sent gifts to appease the anger of esau okay genesis 32 20. it says and also say behold your servant jacob is behind us for he has said i will appease him with the present that goes before me and afterward i will come see his face perhaps he will accept me the word of peace there is kaffar same word for atonement jacob sent gifts ahead before he met up with esau because he wanted to appease esau's wrath because of everything that had happened in their past esau with the last time he saw he saw esau wanted to kill him he fled for his life he'd been gone for quite a few years did a lot of work for his uncle and uh married a couple girls started raising a big family got a bunch of flocks and hers to take with him and all of a sudden he starts deciding i think i'm going to go back and visit my brother and then he starts worrying that maybe his brother is still mad so he starts sending gifts ahead to say you know what i'm sorry for whatever happened all those years ago i really don't want to die i really don't want to face your wrath will you please accept my gift that is how this is being used to appease the wrath of his brother and we think about in connection to the day of atonement we deserve wrath we deserve the wrath of god we have all sinned and fallen short of the glory of god the bible says every one of us have sinned we're born in sin the bible says we all deserve god's wrath and the atonement is to appease that wrath to take that wrath so that we don't have to what does it say about yeshua that that our sins were laid on him that he took the sins of the world on on his back when he hung on the cross that he became a curse for us he took our wrath he took our punishment so that we don't have to he appeased he made atonement for us psalm 65 it says that god is the one who provides atonement psalm 65 2 and 3 it says o you who hear prayer o you who hear prayer who is he talking to you talking to god oh you who hear prayer to you all flesh will come iniquities prevail against me as for our transgressions you will provide atonement for them god is the one who provides atonement it's not a new concept it didn't get invented in the new testament this is the old testament i'm reading from god is the one who provides atonement we don't another interesting use of this word kaphar is found in isaiah and this is when isaiah saw the vision right when he saw the vision of god high and lifted up he said woe is me a man of unclean lips living in a people of unclean lips and the angel took the coal and touched it to his lip listen what it says isaac isaiah 6 verses 5-7 so i said woe is me for i am undone because i am a man of unclean lips and i dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips from my eyes have seen the king the lord of hosts then one of them a seraphim flew to me having in his hand a live coal which had taken with the tongues from the altar and he touched my mouth with and he said behold this has touched your lips your iniquity is taken away and your sin is purged that word purged is kefar means your sin is removed your iniquity is removed this is what the atonement of yeshua looks like it's not just to cover you know like this this thing right here is covering this platform right it's a little drape that covers over it the old testament atonement they were just covering the sins of the people with the blood with yeshua's atonement what's interesting is the word atonement actually isn't even used in the new testament there's a lot of other words that are used the word atonement is not there may be a couple translations that translate it that way but that's not what the writers used they didn't use the greek word that translates kefar and they didn't use any other words that we would translate as atonement why because what he does is even better than that he doesn't just cover it it says that he redeems us from it he saves us from it he takes our sin away he purges it he removes it the work that yeshua did on the cross is greater than the work that the high priest did in the temple and the bible even shows us that by the wording it uses because it doesn't say yeshua covered our sins it says that he removed our sins that he purged our sins he cleansed us from sin he saved us from sin he redeemed us from sin it wasn't just he didn't just forgive us he's come to transform us he doesn't want us just to be forgiven people he wants to be us to be transformed people transformed by his blood transformed by his grace washed in the water of the word right but this example in isaiah it says your sin is purged it's taken away atonement means that we are regarded as if we had never sinned that's what it's pointing to it's what it's it's getting us to the state you know we we get in the state where we're filthy and dirty and covered in sin and when we go through atonement we're now in the state where we are not that way anymore it's as if we hadn't we're treated as if we had not sinned sin our sin deserves punishment when we are atoned for we no longer deserve that punishment our sin has been canceled it's been removed it's been covered it's been wiped away it's been done away with the price has been paid there's no more left to pay it's as if we had not done it that's that's the work that yeshua is doing on the day of atonement right it's the work that he did on the cross it's the work that he does in your life when you come to him for atonement listen to this messianic prophecy in daniel chapter nine starting verse 24 verses 24 and 25 70 weeks are determined for you 70 weeks are determined for your people and for your holy city to finish the transgression to make an end of sins to make reconciliation for iniquity to bring in everlasting righteousness to seal up vision and prophecy and to anoint the most holy know therefore and understand that from the going forth of the command to restore and rebuild jerusalem until messiah the prince there shall be seven weeks and 62 weeks the street shall be built again and the wall even in trouble sometimes so this is a prophecy about the messiah coming to do what to finish transgression to put an end of sin to make reconciliation for iniquity to bring in everlasting righteousness this is what he comes to do for us to put an end to sin that's what yeshua comes to do in your life the new testament confirms this in a number of places i just want to point out a couple of them romans chapter 5 starting verse 8 it says but god demonstrates his own love towards us that in while we were still sinners christ died for us much more than having now been justified by his blood see there's another one's words justified by his blood some some bibles may render a determinant but justification is actually greater than covering he's justified he's made it right justified by his blood we shall be saved from wrath through him for when we were enemies we were reconciled to god through the death of his son how much more having been reconciled we shall be saved by his life that while we were enemies he worked to reconcile us what does it mean to be an enemy romans chapter 7 talks about that that you know if we are during the works of the flesh if we are following the works of the flesh that we are not following his commandments it says we make ourselves an enemy all right romans what chapter 8 verse 7 we become an enemy because we are not being subject to his law to his commandments so anyone who is walking contrary to his law is an enemy he says because you're not obeying him you're walking in treason he says so while you were enemies he worked to reconcile you to himself for if for when we were enemies we reconciled to god through the death of his son how much more having been reconciled we shall be saved by his life i don't not only that but we also rejoice in god through our lord jesus christ through whom we have now received reconciliation and again that word reconciliation is another one of those words that is linked to atonement but it's actually better than atonement because again atonement has more to do with covering reconciliation is making it right things have been restored relationship has been healed the the way that was broken because of sin has been repaired and you are now able to come back to god because he has restored that relationship he's made reconciliation between you and god that's what this word implies entails so yeshua died for our sins to reconcile us to god again reconciliation is atonement language but is greater it's greater than the atonement we see in the old testament when the high priest when aaron went and brought blood on the altar what happened the sins were covered and every year it had to be done again and again and again and again and again the book of hebrews explains to us yeshua's sacrifice is greater than that because he doesn't have to offer it every year year after year after year that his blood is atones once for all and it's always effective he doesn't have to continue to offer the blood he offered it once for all time and anytime you come to him for that atonement it is available to you hebrews chapter 1 verse 3 it says who being the brightness of his glory and the express image of his person and upholding all things by the word of his power speaking of yeshua when he had by himself purged our sins by himself he purged our sins it says he sat down at the right hand of the majesty on high this is some pretty amazing language that's using here if you go on if you read this this whole chapter talks about how he is he's the one who put it all together he's the creator he upholds all things by his own power and that he himself he is the one alone he himself purged our sins he laid down his life he even said he said i have the power to lay down my life and i have the power to pick it up again who can say that but god almighty none of us have the power to pick our life back up after we've died i have the power to lay my life down and i have the power to restore it again resurrect my own self he says but he purged our sins this is again atonement language to purge it to get rid of it to remove it to destroy it hebrews goes on to explain that yeshua is our high priest which i mentioned earlier and he makes propitiation for our sins which is also more atonement language hebrews chapter 2 verse 17 therefore in all things he had to be made like his brethren that he might be a merciful and faithful high priest in all things pertaining to god to make propitiation for the sins of the people again that propitiation is is atonement type language it has to do with him restoring things and bringing us back in a relationship justifying doing away with purging hebrews chapter 9 verse 22 through 20 it says and according to the law almost all things are purified with blood and without the shedding of blood there is no remission remission is another atonement language word right remission means it's it's washed away that it's done away with without the shedding of blood there is no remission therefore it was necessary that the copies of the things in the heavens should be purified with these but the heavenly things themselves with better sacrifices than these okay so he's talking he's comparing the earthly temple the earthly tabernacle that moses built with the heavenly tabernacle he's saying that the earthly tabernacle was a copy and a replica of the real thing and that the sacrifices down on earth were less they were less effective less significant than what's going on in heaven this is the argument he's making therefore it was necessary that the copies the earthly tabernacle uh of these things in the heavens should be purified with these with the the blood of goats and lambs and cows and things like that right but the heavenly things himself with better sacrifices than these he goes on he explains what that means for christ has not entered the holy places made with hands he has not entered the holy places made with hands which are copies of the true but into heaven itself now to appear in the presence of god for us not that he should offer himself often as the high priest enters the most holy place every year with the blood of another then he would have had to suffer often since the foundation of the world but now once at the end of the ages he has appeared to put away sin by the sacrifice of himself and again put away sin that's another atonement language he appeared to put away sin by the sacrifice of himself and as it as it is appointed for men to die once and after this the judgment so christ was offered once to bear the sins of many to those who eagerly await him he will appear a second time apart from sin for salvation says he it is appointed for us to die once and because of that he died once he didn't have to die for every single human every you know millions of people he didn't have to die millions of times he died once because he's appointed us to die once he took all of our punishment through his death right and people argue well you know how can one man atone for the sins of all the humans on earth was because he wasn't just a man his life was worth more than all of humanity combined he's the son of god he's not just some guy the only way that his life could be worth more than everybody else that his death could be worth more than everybody else's death in life the only way he can justify and atone for our sin is that he has to be more valuable than all of us combined and he is that's why his blood is able to save all of humanity the language in the book of hebrews is very much about the day of atonement it's talking about the high priest going into the holy place to make atonement for the people the language that's being used here is pointing to yeshua as our high priest going into the holy place in heaven and making atonement for us the book of hebrews speaks about the temple the high priest the blood the atonement and it refers to the yearly offerings yearly offerings are offered once a year at atonement right and he contrasts this earthly high priest with yeshua as the better priest the better sacrifice having a better temple a better priesthood better everything 10 verse 11 and every priest stands ministering daily and offering repeatedly the same sacrifices which can never take away sins he says that these priests in the temple the levitical priesthood that god ordained that god established their sacrifices cannot take away sin that's why they have to keep offering year after year after year after year but this man yeshua after he had offered one sacrifice for sins forever sat down at the right hand of god from that time waiting till his enemies are made his footstool for by one offering he has perfected forever those who are being sanctified that is powerful after he got done making atonement for your sins he sat down and is just waiting for all of his enemies to become his footstool you see that that's a powerful statement he's not continually offering sacrifices year after year he's sitting on his throne because he has achieved it already his blood is effective his death is once for all it's meaningful it's perfect it's forever so all we have to do is apply that blood to our life right we just have to receive that receive the atonement he has for us he's not every year he's not getting up there and putting blood on the altar for us he died once atoned for us once and that's enough in yeshua we have a greater priest a greater sacrifice a greater atonement than anything that has ever been done before like i said earlier believers inside are the only ones who can truly keep the feasts because we're the ones who have a priest we're the ones who have a sacrifice we're the only ones who have a temple the book of hebrews tells us that this is why we can draw near to god we are able to draw near to god because of yeshua because of his priesthood because of his sacrifice hebrews 10 21 and having a high priest over the house of god let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience and our bodies washed with pure water let us hold fast to the confession of our hope without wavering for he who promised is faithful because of yeshua we can draw near to god he says and so atonement is not based on our righteousness i've said this several times tonight i want to make sure you understand atonement is not based on our own righteousness we cannot atone for ourself atonement is based on his faithfulness based on what he did he is faithful and we can trust in his faithfulness you think about what the people did in israel thousands of years ago right when they had a high priest serving the temple god told them don't go to jerusalem don't take a sacrifice with you stay home rest don't do any work let the priest handle it they didn't do anything they stayed at home and they were trusting that the high priest did what he was supposed to do so that they could receive the atonement they were supposed to get right they knew that they couldn't do anything about it they just had to trust that the priest took care of it and believe that he did well it's the same scenario we're in too we we can do nothing for our atonement it's not our responsibility we cannot earn it we cannot make it happen we cannot do anything to achieve our own atonement we trust in the one who can though we trust in the high priest who is able to atone for our sins we trust him to do the work we trust his sacrifice we believe and trust in his faithfulness to take care of it to atone for the sins of his people atonement is based on his work of redemption not ours we need to understand that his atoning sacrifice is the only blood that can truly save us you know there are in this uh crazy world we live in there's a lot of people who want to try to offer sacrifices for themselves and it's like whoa no your sacrifice is worthless yeshua sacrifice is the only one who can save you we're given a very stern and terrifying warning against trampling yeshua sacrifice under our foot in hebrews chapter 10 it says for if we sin willfully after we've received the knowledge of the truth and there there no longer remains a sacrifice for sin if we sin willfully after we've received the knowledge of the truth therefore there no longer remains a sacrifice for sin but a certain fearful expectation of judgment and fiery indignation which will devour the adversaries anyone who has rejected moses law dies without mercy on the testimony of two or three witnesses of how much worse punishment do you suppose will be thought worthy who has trampled the son of god underfoot counted the blood of the covenant by which he was sanctified a common thing and insulted the spirit of grace for you know him who said vengeance is mine i will repay says the lord again and again the lord will judge his people it is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living god this is one of those verses that when you read it it should terrify you i mean it terrifies everybody it should of how much worst punishment do you suppose will he be thought worthy who has trampled the son of god under foot encounter the blood of the covenant which is sanctified a common thing okay treating the blood of yeshua as a common thing acting like it's no big deal trampling on it underfoot just tossing it out and trampling it all over it right he's talking about willful sin you know this knowing knowingly doing this knowingly acting in a way that's contrary knowing what's right and doing wrong anyway when people talk about you know you you see this argument from calvinists right that is one saved always safe thing right and so once you once you've been saved you're always saved you don't have to worry about it that's not true we see multiple examples throughout the bible people losing salvation we see what happened uh in in the wilderness right god saved the entire nation of israel from egypt from bondage they were saved by faith by grace through faith and blessed lamb he took them out of the wilderness and they sinned they worshiped idols they did all kinds of things he said because of their sin they're not going to get to go to the promised land they didn't get to go into the promised land because their sin they were safe from bondage in egypt but they didn't get to go to the promised land they lost their salvation the whole point of them leaving egypt was get to the promised land wasn't it to be able to have their nation the country the promised land that god told them that they would inherit they didn't get to go there moses he didn't get into the promised land either because what he struck the rock instead of speaking to it moses talked about blotting you know god brought my name out of the book of life to save these people why would he need to save them because they're about to face the wrath of god for what they did look at korra right core was one of the people led out of egypt he was saved from egypt and he led a rebellion against moses and the earth swallowed him up i would say he lost his salvation hebrews 10 talks about those who have received the knowledge of the truth they received it they understood it but then it talks about they they rejected it they counted it a common thing they treated it like it was a common thing this is someone who has received the knowledge of the truth they've received salvation they've received understanding of the word enlightened it even uses the word enlightened then they trample it with their actions another thing to think about is how do you get your name blotted out of the book of life if it wasn't written in there to begin with the bible talks about blotting your name out of the book of life well that means your name was there to blot it out means it has to be removed it got put in there when you entered into the kingdom when you entered into life when you became one of his people he is blotted out if you get removed from that list this is one of the scariest things i can imagine i'm giving you time to let it sink in because if you don't think it's scary you should this is terrifying the bible talks about having the fear of the lord you know we should fear lord fear the lord more than anything else that the fear of the lord leads us to righteousness the fear the lord leads us to do what is right and holy and just i think the problem is most people don't fear the lord we're not taught to fear him we're told oh god is love he just loves everybody he's just going to forgive you you just keep coming back and he's just going to keep on forgiving you truth to that but we can't let that what's the word we can't let that destroy our fear of him we can't just look at him as as he's always always going to do this peter talks about how the uh the long-suffering of god he says that the long-suffering of god don't count that his slackness as weakness you know he talks about how scoffers will come but you've been saying for years that he's coming back he's not coming back he's been saying that for 2000 years his coffers come scoffing thinking that he's slack in his judgment he's not really going to judge the world he's not really going to pour out wrath he's not really going to condemn sinners that's what people think well it hasn't happened yet why should we think it's going to happen in the future that's what people think the bible tells us there's coming a day of wrath and if we are if we're not right with god if we're not atoned for if we're walking in willful sin when that happens we're going to face that wrath if we're walking in sin when he returns we're going to face his wrath it's a scary thought it's called the great and dreadful day of the lord for a reason this terrifying day of the lord it's the day when he brings wrath to the earth and he destroys all the wicked paul talks about in galatians he says you know if you if you continue to do these works of the flesh you're not going to be in the kingdom you're going to face the wrath revelation talks about it as well numerous places in the bible talk about this for walking in sin continuing to walk in sin he says you're going to face the wrath so we not only need atonement but we need that sanctification that yeshua brings sanctification is making us holy so atonement is justification is making us clean he's cleansing us taking away our sin washing us cleansing us making us pure making us right restoring that relationship sanctification is the next work yeshua does that in us as well the sanctification is making us holy making us righteous making us godly people i'm straight from my nose but i noticed the sun's still up so i have a little time you don't think that's as funny as i do right so let me summarize it's really the end there's like this much left all right so the day of trumpets announces yeshua's return we talked about this at yom trua right the day of trumpets announces his return the trumpets are blown the king returns the day of atonement is the day when god's people receive atonement is when we receive the covering we receive the atonement when we receive the reconciliation but it's also the dreadful day of the lord it's a day of wrath when god's wrath is poured out on the earth and only those who apply the atonement blood of yeshua will be spared from that wrath just like in egypt at passover they put the blood on the doorpost of their house and the death angel passed over them didn't harm them because they had the blood it's the same kind of thing in the day of wrath when god comes with his vengeance to strike the earth with wrath only those who have been sealed by the blood of yeshua are going to be spared from that wrath and so on the day of atonement we afflict our souls because of sin our sin and the sins of the world we afflict our soul because we realize that we are sinful people and we need salvation we afflict our souls fast and pray for our friends and family who maybe don't know the lord because we love them and we want them to find the lord we want them to be saved we humble ourselves and we seek redemption we humble ourself before the lord the thing that pharaoh refused to do we humble ourselves so that we don't face the affliction that pharaoh had to face we humble ourselves so that we're not humbled and we rest we cease from our work understanding that we can do nothing to atone for ourself that's what the message of yom kippur is cheryl and the music team have a couple more songs they want to do so you can be mad at them for us going late sun's still up i'm done so make you the bad guy actually i'm not done let me pray i still get time heavenly father we love you so much and lord we thank you we thank you for the work that you have done for us lord yeshua we thank you for your salvation we thank you for your atonement lord i pray that each person here would would receive your atonement lord each person watching online each person who's hearing this that they would receive your atonement your sacrifice or that you would wash away our sins that you would cleanse us that you redeem us or that you would purify us and sanctify us transform us lord purge the sin from us help us to be more and more like you lord we recognize and understand that we cannot save ourselves and so we call out to you the only one who can save us lord we praise you we love you in the name of yeshua amen all right would you stand for a couple more songs of worship [Music] [Music] oh the blood of jesus oh the blood of jesus [Music] [Music] [Laughter] shall [Music] oh [Music] oh [Music] [Laughter] [Music] the blood oh [Music] [Music] it washes white as snow [Laughter] he became sin who get some guys who aren't afraid to pray to stand around these two men billy's been having some heart fibrillation problems and cory's starting to feel some symptoms again like what put him in the hospital a while back and so we want to pray for them before we go out to sukkot so that they have a good health lord yeshua you are the healer but we ask that you would touch corey and billy that you would lay your hands on them that you put your healing touch in their life restore their health make them whole but your word says that by your stripes we are healed so we lift up our brothers we ask for your healing touch in the name of yeshua and you are the healer we know that you are able to do this or that you can work miracles that you can do healing that no doctor can do we trust you we praise you we just ask for your healing touch in the name of yeshua amen somebody have a shofar handy bring me mine sure that's right um [Music] um [Music] oh [Music] that was really cool i could feel it vibrating that was cool does anybody else need prayer cheryl's guitar does all right [Music] [Music] they are safe may the lord bless you and keep you may the lord cause his face to shine upon you and be gracious to you may the lord lift up his countess upon you give you peace you're dismissed and if you wouldn't mind billy wants to recruit some people to help with the chairs and tables ian's i think ian's hand-picked some guys for that
