oh shabbat shalom i'd like to uh we have a number of visitors tonight so i would uh let's make sure we make them welcome you know as they join us and i thank you for joining us tonight i thank you uh for joining everybody that's online as well um very interesting uh both both wit let me get this fixture i don't think i'm working quite right uh both whitney sorry having problems okay that's not gonna stay now i broke it okay no oh okay very good thanks sir okay uh it was interesting both whitney and billy both mentioned a couple of words that we're going to talk about tonight fear of the lord fear of god how connected is the does the father put us neither of these men you know knew what each of us were going to talk about but but yet here we are both with the same things on our minds he's putting the same words in our mouths is that not just wonderful is he not a wonderful god uh can you join me in prayer before we get started please uh dear heavenly father uh our lord our king you know we thank you our father uh we praise you we glorify you we worship you with a dancing song father uh i thank you for the for the wonderful worship we have this evening uh i thank you for for the opportunity that you give us to worship that we can meet together as as one big family and worship and praise you and hear your words father um i ask you that that i speak you only your words father uh ask that that our hearts are opened our minds are open to to receive these and i ask that we uh we follow them as we go forward father in yeshua's name amen you know we're going to talk i'm going to start with uh isaiah 41 10. and the very first two words are what we're going to discuss tonight so let's get started isaiah 41 10-13 fear not for i am with you do not do not be dismayed for i am your god i will strengthen you yes i will help you i will uphold you with my righteous right hand behold all those who are incensed incensed against you shall be ashamed and disgraced they shall be as nothing and those who strive with you shall perish you shall seek them and not find them those who can't who contend with you those who war against you shall be as nothing as a non-existent thing for i the lord your god will hold your right hand saying to you fear not i will help you we're going to talk about fear tonight and we're going to talk about the fear of god for one thing a little disclaimer before i get started you know the things that i talk about tonight it has no relation to anybody here anybody in our families because this is kind of a personal thing you know the fear that's inside of us you know we we deal with that and this is going to be where it comes from and how we deal with it uh so so i hope i don't offend anybody but this does not pertain to any of us here uh and to start off with um you know the scripture speaks of two different types of fear it speaks of uh a commanded fear right the fear of god okay then it speaks of a spirit of fear that spirit of fear is not from god right um and we're going to start off with the spirit of fear first because one kind of leads to the other and we're going to kind of discuss both of these tonight um you know first though you know kind of kind of the ramblings of an old man here and i hate to start off with a negative thought but you know our culture and our society we live on fear we're a culture and a society of fear nowadays uh you know abounds around us that's all we hear that's all we see i went to a news feed a popular news feed and all i did was look at the headlines you know and there were multiple headlines of covid and the fear of covet multiple multiple headlines of of the delta strain and the fear of that uh there was fear of movement of the earth's core there were firings over people not getting vaccinated there were stories about that even in the ads ads for zantac and cancer you know we were even getting this fear in the in the ads as well you know there was fear over the china conflict fear over the iran conflict uh humans right rights protests uh people getting laid off of their jobs from the rail service uh climate change fears there was only one story out of probably 50 of them that was a human interest story there was only one positive note on that whole page you know years ago it never used to be that way you know peace has left this earth fear is filling this earth you know and it's being led it's being led by you know you know by the adversary by satan and he's using these people as puppets and you know and i see now and what i call them are fear mongers we have people making money off of exciting fear in the people you know we have we have mob baiters we have election meddlers we have those trying to widen the social distances we have those that are subverting our democracy uh boosting authoritarian regimes um you know we have those that are spreading fear uh you know needlessly raising alarms just to get us to to keep this fear going you know and then we have the big three that are making money off of it and promoting it you know we have big pharma they're making money off of this we have we have big tech that is getting online now census are censoring our you know our speech censoring our our emails looking at our stuff you know and then we have our own government you know manipulating us and uh you know spreading rumors of fear and uh uh pending dangers you know so so it's all around us but you know this that is not they're just puppets there again this is a plan of satan to isolate us and we're going to get into that a little bit before we go any further i want to make sure that we there is a difference you know fear is is not to be confused with caution you know there is a difference there you know we're going to look both ways before we cross the street that's caution you know we're not going to play with matches in a dry field that's caution you know we're going to read the instructions on you know on a on a new prescription to make sure we don't poison ourselves that's that's caution that's not fear what is fear you know fear is when it takes over your life okay fear is dread when we dread stuff always being alarmed fear's alarming it's apprehension it's daily minute apprehensions you hear something on the tv or somebody says something to you internal apprehension anxiety perplexed sorry uh perplexity and distrust you know those are just some of them you know fear is a strong emotion it's a very strong emotion you know and the more that we live in that that stronghold gets built up into us and i'll tell you that stronghold you know that's double brick thick and that mortar we're not going to crack not by ourselves you know but there is one that will help us and we will talk about that um some areas of fear and these are some that you know that that we see you know some i've dealt with some you may recognize yourselves you know failure failure in our careers you know are we going to get that raise do i get that corner office you know do i get that promotion do i get that bonus uh fear in school as as a younger man is it you know am i going to pass that test you know am i going to get into that college you know where am i going to go what's going to happen there you know we fear in athletics if you're ever a young man and played a sport or a young woman and played a sport you know am i going to get on that team am i going to catch that pass am i going to hit that fastball you know this stuff abounds all around us and it's put put in us uh fear of leadership you know can i lead will they listen to me you know where where will i lead him there's a lot of anxiety and a lot of fear that builds up in a leadership position uh fear in relationships does she love me does he love me you know where are we going with this relationship there's a lot of fear based in relationships as well and then just fear in life you know as we walk through our daily life the fears abound around us you know they're approaching us from every side you know and what's important is how we handle that and where we're going to go with that and we're going to find out how we can handle that um you know one that came to mind when i started was talking about uh career was uh yeshua talking about the parable of the talents you know in matthew 25 25 he tells us and this is this is one of the uh you know one of the men that received the talent speaking here and i was afraid and i went and hid your talent in the ground look you have what is yours he was afraid you know so what do you do he didn't do anything right and that's one of the problems with fear and we'll talk about that in a second fear of the unknown you know we're afraid to step out of our normal we're afraid to step out and learn something new you know we're afraid to start new relationships to meet new people you know fear fear contains us all these ways all these different ways and here's a big one fear of truth facing the truth right that's a big one you know because truth puts us or somebody we love maybe in a bad light you know so we're really afraid to approach that you know truth demands that that we admit when we're wrong you know and truth demands that if there is a wrong that we change it or we own up to it so the fear of truth is a very big one that a lot of us face sometimes and that that leads leads us uh a step further is you know we fear the light you know light exposes our actions you know it exposes our beliefs it explo exposes our our walk our daily walk you know especially if it's not in the light of yeshua you know because yeshua is the light you know and then you know yeshua is also our truth so so those two are tied together real tight and that's why fear of truth is very important you know john 8 32 and you shall know the truth and the truth shall make you free you know in the in the old testament truth was kind of looked at as a foundation for building a way of life but but when yeshua came you know truth kind of took on a little bit of a different meaning it you know it's a sign of spiritual freedom uh from bondage of sin so truth has taken a turn truth and yeshua are tied together so tight you know through repentance you know we find the salvation of truth you know and truth in truth truth does not lead to bondage fear leads to bondage so if we're in yeshua and we have the truth we're not going to be in bondage you know and a lot of times you know that fear will keep us from going there you know to know the truth is to know yeshua john 14 6 you know tells us that you know jesus said to him i am the way the truth the life no one comes to the father except through me so we see right there truth there again we're looking at truth and if we fear truth you know we're not seeing the picture we're not getting there one little bit more obscure is is james 1 18 it says of his own will he brought us forth by the word of truth that we might be a kind of first fruits of his creations you know and the word of truth here is is the gospel is yeshua we're talking about yeshua bringing us here and and the the first fruits you know that that's that's new birth that's things being consecrated to the father you know the first fruits fruits the grain offering you know the male lamb these things are consecrated to the father and that's where he wants us to be we have the fear of responsibility you know that's another one that that uh you know as you get into positions of authority you know as you're trying to to move up a lot of times a lot of responsibility is put on you and a lot of times we fear that responsibility you know we don't know where that's going to lead us and we don't want to go there you know and that kind of brought me back again to matthew 25 25. maybe he feared the responsibility of doing something with that talent of reaching out and trying to grow you know trying to better something there uh we also see that uh as a responsibility of the spies you know as they came back from being in the land you know it was israel it was israelite's responsibility you know to take over the land and and they they didn't stand up to that responsibility right fear fear kept them from reaching out to that responsibility and you know we have uh we have a responsibility you know it's kind of given us to us two or three places you know in scripture the one i like is luke 5 10 and so also were james and john the sons of zebedee who were partners with simon and jesus said to simon do not be afraid for now you will catch men there again do not be afraid this is our responsibility is not are we not supposed to be doing the work of the kingdom you know are we going to let fear keep us from stepping out and doing the things that god has required of us doing the things of the kingdom that's what this is about that's what he's talking about that's what fear does to us here's another one fear of what others think of us right you know we worry about other what others say we worry about they think what they think of us they worry about they'll what they'll do to us you know there's gossips there's rumors you know you should told us about this as well you know as we walk this different path we're going to have to face you know those type of things and that's one of the fears that we're going to have to get over you know in matthew 5 10 through 11 uh blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness sake for theirs is the kingdom of heaven blessed are you when they revile and persecute you and say all kinds of evil against you falsely for my sake when they talk about us when somebody talks about you we fear that stuff we won't step out sometimes you know because we're afraid of what that reaction is going to be we're afraid of what people may say and just kind of a side note here's one that really should teach us to speak the truth because it's kind of scary and it was luke 6 26 woe to you when all men speak well of you for so did their fathers to the false prophets and that goes back into the days of micah you know there were false prophets prophets and everybody was praising them you know oh you're speaking the right thing you're doing this you know you're saying all the right stuff well they weren't they were all false prophets and this is just kind of a warning that when we speak out we speak the word of god and we speak it truthfully you know we don't want to be like these false prophets we don't want to be praised by man because we're speaking of falsehood and that's what kind of happened in that day you know they were saying everything's okay everything's fine well it wasn't so you know that's just a path we don't want to go down uh on the same note you know peter had that problem you know peter he feared he denied yeshua three times because he feared what people were going to say about him you know weren't you with them over there no i don't know them i don't know them he denied you know because he feared of what somebody was going to think of him or what they were going to say about him but you know how miraculous the father is you know 56 days later he preached and 3 000 were saved right so how does the father work the father can work in any of us right all we have to do is overcome our fear another one that was was is kind of hidden in there if you look at john 19 38 you know joseph of arimathea you know it says right in there he was a secret disciple he feared the jews you know he went and reclaimed pilot uh yeshua's body from pilate but i thought that was real interesting you know he kind of had that same problem too he feared the jews he was afraid of what they thought of him or what they would do to him or what they would say to him but it did not stop him did it you know another big one is uh the fear of death you know and that's a one that may you know be on everybody's minds quite often here and there off and on you know if we look at hebrews 2 15 and it says and relief release those who through fear of death for all their lifetime subject to bondage all your lifetime all your lifetime subject to bondage you know when that stronghold of fear is built in us it's real hard to get out it is very hard to get out because that's one of those deep emotional things you know that is hard to break free from uh you know but but there there there is the promise uh if we look at first corinthians 15 54 to 55. so when this this corruptible has put on incorruption and this mortal has put on immortality then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written death has death is swallowed up by victory oh death where is your sting oh hades where is your victory right there's our promise right there our promise is in yeshua right there also first thessalonians 4 16-17 for the lord himself will descend from heaven with a shout with the voice of an archangel and with the trumpet of god and the dead in christ will rise first then then we who are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the lord in the air and thus we shall always be with the lord that's a promise right there we will always be with the lord you know how great is that can we ask for anything greater let's look at the effects of fear uh you know the very first one you know it paralyzes you into an action you know to me there's two things that fear does to you either you don't do anything or you do the wrong thing you know that's the two things that happen he paralyzes you you know for inaction you we withdraw into that stronghold you know we don't reach out you know we have you know we have people you know during the cocoa deal they won't leave their houses you know the fear has has gripped him so hard we still have i still know people that way they won't go out they still have that fear you know so so that you know it paralyzes in action you know that fear becomes a prison you know we're chained we're changing that prison you know by by fear uh and you know and it started really back in genesis 3 8. it started in the garden um you know they heard the sound of the lord god walking in the garden in the cool of the day and adam and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the lord god among the trees of the garden you know they feared how the father was going to react to their sin so they hid right they covered themselves and and hid you know that they could have had that relationship with the father but fear kept him from that the fear of him finding out what they did and that's what fear does to us it keeps us in bondage it keeps us in that stronghold you know it keeps us chained to that wall because we won't step out we won't confront it um you know it keeps us it keeps us from using our talents it keeps us from from from reaching out to people you know for the kingdom you know what suffers is not only us the kingdom suffers you know we're locked up we won't reach out we won't step out and talk to that person you know so fear of fear is a real danger and that's why satan uses it he knows how dangerous it is he knows what it will do you know we fear forming new relationships you know we won't reach out to anybody here's another one it shifts our focus from god um and i thought this was really interesting when i kind of came i looked at this you know during the covet outbreak what was going on people were canceling churches and people were doing this and not going there not but think of noah noah was quarantined for 40 days in the ark with his family and the animals you know god was destroying the world outside it was raining they had never seen rain before before then the water came from the ground but you know in all those series of verses there's not one mention of fear in there not one mention at all fear was not on noah's mind what was on noah's mind was was doing the commandments of the father and it tells us right here you know you know and this is something we should remember you know genesis 7 5 noah did according to all that the lord had commanded him you know how are we going to respond how are we going to respond to the fear how are we going to respond when the the world's being destroyed around us are we going to sit in fear and do nothing or do the wrong thing or are we going to follow the commandments of the lord okay uh you know again the shifting of focus also you know coming back to peter you know when he stepped out of that boat he was fine as long as he kept his gaze on yeshua when he shifted his focus and started looking at the storm around him what did he do he began to sink that shows us how important our focus is you know we need to be focusing on yeshua we need to be focusing on our god and who he is and how great he is not on the things that are going around around us not on the misinformation you know not on the fear that people are trying to bait us with we need to keep our focus on god you know you know many times we can't accomplish a specific task because we're so worried about the fear we're so fearful of not completing that task that it hinders our ability so there again fear fits in kind of that way too excuse me um fear makes us listen to you know to outside influences you know we're on this path we're on this narrow path we're on the path that yeshua has has led us to that he spoke of but you know all around us words are being bombarded to us fear is being thrown at us we're being pulled here i'm pulled there there again that's another influence from the outside that's just trying to keep keep us locked in that prison locked in that stronghold of fear you know with those chains our chains around our arms our ankles against the wall and and that brought me to mind think of how joshua must have felt moses died he's in charge of this multitude this great multitude right you know they've already been wandering 40 years because there was fear in the camp can you imagine how joshua must have felt but you know the lord spoke to him and the lord gave gave him comfort you know if we look in joshua 1 5 no man shall be able to stand before you all the days of your life as i was with moses so i will be with you i will not leave you nor forsake you trust god's leadership that's what he was talking about trust my leadership trust god's leadership reach out to god reach out to him that's what that's about you know outside influence we have so many of them now what youtube we have televangelizers we just have so much so be careful you know we've got to be careful what we listen to what we're looking at you know don't let that fear don't let them feed us that fear because if we let you know we let them feed us that fear it's not going to go away uh another one uh fear creates creates obstacles you know and it's to keep us in that stronghold you know there's always a jillion excuses oh i'm too tired or oh my children's sick or my car won't start or i'm out of gas you know and some sometimes there are physical obstacles sometimes you are sick you know but fear puts obstacles in front of you to keep you from reaching out from breaking out of that stronghold you know it leads you keeps you bound in there you know we can't let fear you know create obstacles to the things of the kingdom right we have to overcome these obstacles and um let's look at hebrews 13 5. let your conduct be without covenantness be content with such things as you have for he himself has said i will never leave you nor forsake you we have another promise we have that promise right there he will never leave us he will never forsake us another one jeremiah 29 11 for i know the thoughts that i think towards you says the lord thoughts of peace not of evil to give you a future and a hope he's there for us he's here there to give us that future that's his whole intent you know god is greater than any fear that can confront us he can knock down anything we just have to let him do it and we're going to kind of talk about that you know fear keeps us from facing our facing battles there again it doesn't want us to step out it doesn't want us to fight you know you know there's a the world is filled with battles you know every day we're confronted with a crisis every day something is gone these are battles placed in front of us you know by the enemy um you know fear fear itself will keep us you know from asking for god's help because that's that's all we have to do we just have to trust in him you know to fight with us to fight our battles to fight with us to train us how to fight those battles um you know king jehoshaphat you know he faced the same problem there were multiple enemies were facing him he did not know what to do and he prayed for god's guidance and i think this is a wonderful verse uh second chronicles 2012 oh our god right there oh our god you know it starts out you know with the right phrase right there you know will you not judge them for we have no power against this great multitude that has come against us nor do we know what to do but our eyes are upon you there's our key right there where our eyes are upon him you know is that not what he's telling us you know we have to approach our battles the same way we have to approach our battles with god with our eyes on him following his commandments following his instructions you know that's how we do this uh fear creates doubt i'm not good enough i can't do this you know he throws it throws all these things up in our face all the time you know i'm not pretty i'm clumsy i'm not smart enough there's a jillion of them i mean you know we've all we've all heard these plenty of times you know and and that doubt and that fear will cloud god's words did i read that right is that what that said you know just just as the serpent in the garden is that what god said that's how he does that you know that's how he does those type of things you know we forget god's promises we forget god's truths you know we've seen plenty of them here the scripture is full of god's promise all the time um and here was one that i didn't really think about until i read these verses you know fear is contagious and fear spreads um look at the spies they came back and all of a sudden the whole camp you know had fear i'm not going into the land you know and deuteronomy 28 even addresses this issue the officers shall speak further to the people and say what man is there who is fearful and faint-hearted are you afraid that's what he's asking let him go and return to his house at least the heart of his brother in faint like his heart so he didn't want it to spread but you know he knew right here man if these guys are afraid and they're in my army all these other guys are going to be afraid too you know so it's contagious uh and you know joshua had the same issue joshua 14 8. nevertheless my brethren who went up with me made the heart of the people melt he's talking about the spies after he returned the other men that with him they turned the hearts of the whole camp against going into the promised land that was from fear fear drove them fear kept them out of the promised land but hope but i holy will follow the lord my god now that's the attitude that's the attitude that we need to have when we face these things that when we face these fears there are physical effects from fear you have increased breathing increased heartbeat you know the blood vessels around your critical organs dilate to deliver you know oxygen-rich blood to the area acth hormone is released into the blood cortisol is released into the blood and that's to energize the muscles for that fight or flight uh that we have within us you know so there's even a physical effect from fear um you know so you know they're gonna it's all around us and we need to be aware of it and now why why is this happening why do we see this and as i said before this this is a ploy from satan you know he wants to isolate us he doesn't want you going to church he doesn't want you out meeting new people out talking to the man on the street telling him about the father you know if we're alone we're a lot more vulnerable than if we're with our family are we not that's it that's his his plan you know he's he's going to keep us in that stronghold again he doesn't want us to uh to break those chains you know this is this is a battlefield of the mind basically you know this is personal within us you know it's not you know it comes right down to us having to fight this us with the father you know because that's that's where it's all held again and you know what really brought that to my attention uh and here again let's look at peter again let's look at matthew 16 22-23 then peter took him aside and began to rebuke him saying far be it from you lord this shall not happen to you but then yeshua he turned and said to peter get behind me satan you are an offense to me for you are not mindful of the things of god but the things of men look how easy it was to put a thought a fear into peter's mind you know a disciple of yeshua if it can happen to him he's definitely going to do the same thing to us is he not and what was amazing about this and i think and me and my wife have been talking about this you know yeshua knew immediately what was going on he sees us so clearly he knows our hearts so well he knew that that was not from peter he knew what that was about and you know and that's something we have to remember you know a lot of these things that that were being fed or a lot of these things that are popping into your mind make sure where they're from are they from the father um you know and then yeshua even reminds us about this reminds us about the power of satan about the things he's going to do uh you know in john 10 10. thief does not come except to steal and to kill and to destroy i have come that that they may have life and that they may have it more abundantly he tells us what satan's going to do right we just need to be aware of it you know the the spirit of fear uh you know it will drive you to self-destruction you know think of you know we talked about bondage bondage for a lifetime thinking about you know what could i have done or what should i have done think of that you know think how that that feels and uh think about what that does to god's plan you know if we all are in that state of mind where's the kingdom going to go where are we going to go what's going to happen where's our new fruit you know you know that's why this is so dangerous that's why this is such a dangerous thing you know fear is a liar you know it presents false evidence all the time that appears real there again he's always showing this stuff but it's not real so there again we have to be we have to be aware we have to keep our eyes open and we have to keep our ears open you know satan's main goal you know is to destroy god's plan for us you know he knows he's lost but he's going to try to take as many of us down before then let's not keep locked in that stronghold listen we need to break out of that prison uh you know when paul saw this you know paul's talking to timothy and he knew timothy kind of had a timid spirit and we get to the second timothy 1 7 you know which really defines you know a lot of what we're talking about for god has not given us a spirit of fear but of power and of love and of a sound mind you know he isn't the fear is not from god you know fear is from satan and then fears what we make of it in our minds you know that's uh and you know uh in the 30s franklin d roosevelt saw this you know the country was on was in the midst of a depression you know on brink of collapse and what did he say the only thing we have to fear is fear itself right you know true statement for that time okay you know we we've talked about the spirit of fear side of this how do we deal with the spirit of fear well the father gave us that that tool to use here and that was the first uh line we talked about we're commanded to fear we're commanded to fear the fear of god we're going to use that fear to fight this spirit of fear you know a lot of times the the fear of god is defined as uh awe positive reverence respect but you know there's more to it than that you know we have to look a little bit deeper than than that to see the the true meaning behind this you know for an unbeliever you know it's the fear of judgment the fear of eternal death the fear of eternal separation you know but for a believer you know it's understanding who god is you know that he is holy he's just he is righteous um he's a loving god right he loves us you know that's what this is about you know we must right we have to recognize these things we have to recognize that god is loving that he's merciful that he's just you know we must know god we must understand his character and we don't want to we don't want to imprint on him our characters we need to understand his character and where do we get that we get that right here his character is throughout this you want to find the character of the father read it in the word okay you know we have to know his purity we have to know his perfection but we also have to uh know his separation from evil you know because there again he doesn't tolerate sin you know but that does cause him to judge righteously he is a righteous job judge the fear of god is to is to accept him and to appreciate his character and to understand him you know it's a lot more than awe and respect it goes deeper than that you know in proverbs 1 7 you know it tells us the fear of the lord is the beginning of knowledge but fools despise wisdom and instruction knowledge learn of the father find out about him learn him right here psalms 111 10 the fear of the lord is the beginning of wisdom a good understanding have all those who do his commandments his praise endures forever there again beginning of wisdom understand the father fear of the father is not just being afraid of him you know yes we follow his commandments yes there are consequences if we don't follow his commandments but he's a merciful father he's a loving father you know you know he he he has given us the opportunity you know to repent and to recover from that we see it all the time you know also when we have to understand how much god hates sin uh you know and i know we fear his judgment but you know we also have to remember his nature we have to remember his character and if we look at hebrews 12 5 through 6 and you have forgotten the exhortation which speaks to you as two sons my son do not despise the chastening of the lord nor be discouraged when you are rebuked by him for whom the lord loves he chastens and scourges every son who receives him the father loves us he corrects us he leads us he guides us that's the character of our god that's the character of the father you know we have no reason to be scared of him you know we have another promise in romans 8 38-39 for i am persuaded that neither death nor life nor angels nor principalities nor powers nor things present nor things to come nor height nor depth nor any other created thing shall be able to separate us from the love of god which is christ jesus our lord a promise right there nothing nothing on this earth can separate right he tells us nor any other created thing nothing's going to separate us from the love of god uh and then i fall back again to hebrews 13 5. you can let your conduct be without covenants be content with such things as as you have for he himself has said i will never leave you nor forsake you this is how we fight the battle this is how we fight that spirit of truth we fight that through our fear of god we fight that with our god you know we fight with the trust and the love of our father you know we have to be willing to show him our weakness we have to be willing to step out and ask him for that help he will fight with us he will fight for us but we can't let fear get in our way of stepping out you know we have got to battle those internal fears you know there again we have to ask him for that help you know fearing god you know means to have such reverence to him you know that it impacts our lives it impacts the way we walk you know it impacts the way people see us you know that fear of god is more than the fear of god it is his character his character needs to be reflected through us to the rest of the world right that's what that's what being that light is you know that light is showing the world the character of god you know to not fear him that we need to love him you know the fear of god produces strong faith you know as we place our total trust you know in and our faith in him alone it becomes stronger we've become stronger inside we start breaking down that stronghold you know those bricks start falling away that is how we fight the spirit of fear we spied it with him you know and through him um you know fearing of god means more just respect and all you know we have to reach further in that uh when we when we have the fear of god here are uh uh some of the things that we might see or we do see you know we become obedient we cannot come obedient to his commands you know we can we we as precepts in here uh you know if we look at exodus 20 20 and moses said unto the people fear not for god has come to prove you and that his fear may be before your faces that you not sin not sin psalms 119 63 i am a command a companion of all of them that fear thee and of them that keep thy precepts obedient be obedient that you know that's what the under that's part of that understanding that's part of that fear of the god is understanding you know the what obedience is all about another one you know we teach our children you know we're commanded a couple places we need to teach our children we need to teach our children the fear of god what that means what his character is you know we need to we need to spread that to him um you know deuteronomy 4 10 tells us specifically uh especially the day that thou stood us before the lord thy god in oreb when the when the lord said unto me gather me the people together and i will make them hear my words and that they may learn to fear me all the days that they shall live upon the earth and that they may teach their children that's not the only place he commands that to us you know we have to we have to teach them you know what we know we have to teach them the love of the father the mercy the father shows you know we we you know and just a thought that just came you know we also have to watch for these signs of fear you know especially parents with with you know uh teenagers young adults you know a lot of times that's when this really gets locked in that's when that stronghold gets built because you know there's a lot of pressure in in those years you know in those teenage years there's a lot of fears that come along and you know i guess time for a little bit of testimony you know the spirit of fear i spot i fought the spirit of fear probably for 65 years you know and it started when i was a teenager you know it started in school you know being rejected or being by yourself you know and that stronghold has been with had been with me until just recently and because of of studying further you know my faith becoming stronger uh you know and i i think i mentioned this to lex you know three years ago i never would have got up here that fear of fear was so strong into me you know i would not have done it i did not step out i didn't did not do that and that fear had been with me since since you know probably you know grade school junior high you know the fear of finding new friends not wanting to step out you know you start building that when you're younger like that and it's really hard to break down it took years it took years of of prayer you know it took years of asking the father to help you know it took years of reaching out to him but it does and what he does he fights for us he will break down those walls he will take down those bricks one at a time he'll do it with you he'll show you how to do it he'll lead us he'll guide us he'll love us you know the fear of god that's what this is about so watch out for those watch out for that you know in the younger generation you know we we have to help them we have the wisdom and we have the knowledge you know we we need to be aware of that uh you know that's one thing i hope you know a lot of your parents may get from this help your children you know they have fears speak to them about them ask them about them they may tell you they may not but you know try try to try to learn try to get them to understand the character of god right to reach out to him um you know the more we fear we have the fear of god you know we grow in sanctification we grow closer to god you know with every battle we fight in you know win or lose every battle we fight with him we come closer to him right we learn more about him you know the fear of god you know it has great effect on our thoughts you know where our minds go what we think about what we do you know that's that's that's what sanctifies us this is what draws us closer to him you know you know continually reaching out to him excuse me you know it affects the way we walk you know what we think about what we speak about what we're going to say you know or not say or whether we're going to step out or not and psalms 19 9 kind of covers a little bit a bit of that the fear of the lord is clean enduring forever the judgments of the lord are true and righteous altogether he's truth right he's clean he's pure that's what he teaches us that's what he puts in our hearts those are the things we teach our children those are the things that break down that stronghold that break those chains that hold us to that wall you know it's the love of the father it's his truth within us you know we just need to use that you know another thing the fear of god it enhances our worship look at our worship tonight you know what it does is it give it makes us or allows us to worship the father with our whole being not going through the motions but using our hearts and our love for him and showing our love to him through that worship it enhances our worship uh and if we if we look at you know it motivates us you know it motivates us to get off of our seats of course i you know didn't see me on the dance floor i don't dance very well so but it motivates us to worship him you know to sing praises to him to reach to him if we look at psalms 22 23 ye that fear the lord praise him all ye the seed of jacob glorify him and fear him all ye the seed of israel hi how you doing huh are you going to help me bye-bye she's she's a cutie that's right you know where was i okay psalms 22 23 ye the fear the lord praise him all ye the seed of jacob glorify him and fear him all ye the seed of israel fear praise and worship this all goes together does it not this is how we glorify the fathers through our worship right you know and also doing that you know that's another one of those things that fights that spirit of fear we're not focused on it we're focused on the father we're focused on the things of the father um uh let's look at revelations 14 7 and worship him that made heaven and earth and the sea and the fountains of the water worship him that's what he's telling us asking us he shows us many times another one you know we we gain humble confidence and you know the key word here is humble you know having confidence is fine but we have to have the humility with it you know and it also brings us an overwhelming spiritual comfort you know when we fear the father we kind of have that peace that peace that comes with us but as long as we have that stronghold of fear you know you know another another another sign of fear is torment it can be another kind of a word for it or a name for it but you know but the fear of god gives us that peace it gives us that comfort gives us that spiritual joy that we get you know that we can reach out that we can praise him and that we can step out you know we kind of have that spiritual security at that time that's fear of fear of god in psalms 33 18-9 behold the eye of the lord is upon them that fear him upon them that hope in his mercy to deliver their soul from death and to keep them alive and famine the eye of the lord is upon us who better to watch over us no none nobody the eye of the lord is upon us you know can we ask for anything greater than that no you know these these are the things that break down as i said they break down that stronghold you know these are the things that free us from that prison now here here's another one and this is a big one uh there's a couple big ones here uh and throw enthroned yeshua in our hearts if we have yeshua in our hearts there's no room for anything else right that's the way it should be if yeshua is in our heart we have no room for anything else you know first peter 3 14-15 but even if you should suffer for righteousness sake you are blessed but do not be afraid of their threats nor be troubled but sanctify the lord your god in your hearts and always be ready to give a defense to everyone who asks you a reason for the hope that is in you with meekness and fear be ready be ready to answer why why do we not fear why do we have that joy we have yeshua right if he is in our heart there is no room for anything else you know you know lex tells us over and over focus on yeshua right that that breaks that stronghold of spirit a spirit of fear um you know if we sanctify yeshua in our hearts he's there for those battles whenever they arise you know whenever we're assaulted you know he's there for us he's there helping us if you look at isaiah 26 3 you will keep him in perfect peace whose mind has stayed on you because he trusts in you keep us in perfect peace you know if our mind is on him we have that peace we have that joy all right another one fill our hearts with love okay the more love the more we love the more we love people the less we fear all right uh you know first john 4 17-19 kind of addresses that very well love has been perfected among us in this that we we may have boldness in the day of judgment because as he is so are we in this world there is no fear in love but perfect love casts out fear because fear involves torment but he who fears has not been made perfect in love we love him because he loved us first love right here was that word torment again that's that spirit of fear you know torment for life can you think can you think of that being tormented but you know that happens that happens to people you know and we need to be there with that love to show them that there is a way out of that we need to be there with the love and and yeshua in our hearts you know when we recognize what's going on there we need to reach out that's that's when we need to step up and battle that fear within us and reach out and try to help that person you know don't let them be tormented their whole lifetime i mean that you know i just can't imagine that you know you know and i think about it like what if your child is trapped in a house that's on fire and you're afraid of fire are you gonna let that stop you from running in and getting that child i would say probably not most of us parents even though we were we had a deathly fair fire we would try to save our children that's what this is about that's what the father does for us he saves us through everything no matter what it is you know you know that's the love of the father that's the love that we need to have in our hearts you know for our fellow man you know if we walk in the spirit of love we're not going to be running to that stronghold of fear right that stronghold of fear is going to be disappearing you know prayer prayer prayer is another another big step we need to take uh and and and that's what i learned you know when i was fighting this this battle when i was fighting the spirit of fear going to the father in prayer any time that i felt that way any time no matter where it was that's what broke that chain that's what broke that stronghold reach out to him all he's waiting for is for us to ask him um another thing is going to the father in prayer takes our focus off of of of the fear that's in us and puts it on him right you know it locks us to him we have this this conversation this this give and take going on so we don't have time or room for anything else you know tell him our problems ask him to fight those battles with us that's what we're there for he hears our prayers philippians 4 6-7 careful for nothing but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to god and the peace of god which passes all understanding sorry flip a page here she'll keep your hearts and minds through christ jesus prayer prayer prayer is our conduit to the father you know that's when we can speak to him you know that's when we can tell him our fears help me father i'm afraid lead me guide me take this fear away that's the conversations we need to be having when we get into those moments we need to be having those conversations with the father not within ourselves not within our fear he's the one that's going to help us through this you know there again this this battle is him and me and my fear right with him i can win that battle with him any of us can win that battle another thing is guard our hearts you know don't let those things in don't let those outside words in don't let those outside fears reach us you know watch you know be careful about what we watch what we listen to what we look at you know don't let that news media bombard you with those 50 stories of fear and that one human uh uh lost loss of word there sorry you know human interest story you know there again when i was younger and we discussed this earlier to me and my wife you used to see human interest stories quite often you know you don't see them hardly at all anymore you know but there again you know it's that fear they're feeding that feeding us that fear you know they're wanting to control us you know that that is satan's agenda is to control us through that fear to keep us from the plan of the father um before i finish i just i have a few verses here that talk to us about fear not you know in various and this is just a few we could be here for a couple hours if every place in the scriptures you read where the father said fear not why do we not understand him why do we not go there don't let that fear keep us from understanding him understanding his character and reaching out to him he tells us over and over promised after promise he'll be there for us he will reach out to us but let's just look at a few of these genesis 15 1 after these things the word of the lord came unto abram in a vision saying fear not abram i am thy shield and thy exceedingly great reward there are two things right he's our shield he's our protector he has a reward for us fear not fear not genesis 21 17 and god heard the voice of the lad and the angel of god god called the hagar out of heaven and said unto her what alphy hagar fear not for god hath heard the voice of the land lad where he is and this is very interesting you know because they had run away from from abraham you know because she thought she was being persecuted by sarah but this is really interesting because when god heard the lad's voice where he was it doesn't matter where we are god's going to hear our voice you know he is there he's he's listening he's waiting to hear from us he's waiting for us to cry out to him genesis 26 24 and the lord appeared unto him the same night and said i am i am the god of abraham thy father fear not for i am with thee and will bless thee and multiply thy seed from my servant abraham for my servant abraham's sake this was was god speaking to isaac there again i am with thee fear not fear not i'm here you don't have anything to be afraid of i'm here fear not exodus 14 13 and moses said unto the people fear ye not stand still and see the salvation of the lord of course this is at the parting of the sea right he's telling them turn around look fear not god's going to take care of you where was that which he will show you today for the egyptians who you have seen today you shall see them never again he's going to handle that he handled that you know turn around look fear not look at what the father is doing look what the father is doing around us right we have many miracles that are happening in this family many many miracles be aware of them you know you know speak of them don't let fear hold us back in in that uh joshua 8 1 and the lord said unto joshua fear not neither be thou dismayed fear not isaiah 51 7 hearken unto me ye that know righteousness the people in whose heart is my law fear not the reproach of men and do not be afraid of the revi of the revelings you know people if we have his law in our hearts fear not you know don't don't worry about these men don't worry about what men may say don't worry about what men may do dan 10 12 then said he unto me fear not daniel for from the first day that thou this set thine heart to understand and to chasten myself before thy god thy words were heard and i came from thy words he hears he sees right once we understand understand the character of god you know he knows he he sees us he has that clear vision he knows where we've been he knows where we're going he knows where we are now you know so don't let fear cloud that don't let fear cloud cloud our relationship with the father okay let's look at matthew 10 26 fear them not therefore for there is nothing covered that shall not be revealed and hid that shall not be known and this is yeshua speaking you know fear not you know there's nothing that's out there that's hidden you know there's nothing to fear matthew 10 28 and fear not them which will kill the body but are not able to kill the soul but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell fear god know his character understand him you know know what he wants from us we get that here he tells us over and over he tells us what our responsibilities are he tells us what to expect mark 5 36 but jesus immediately having heard the word spoken says to the ruler of the synagogue fear not only believe only believe faith truth belief know the character of god believe accept and believe the character of god keep that in our hearts break down that spirit of fear that's what does that luke 12 7 but even the very hairs of your head are all numbered fear not therefore you you are of more value than many sparrows he knows us he knows us fear not he knows every one of us we wouldn't be here otherwise right he has purpose for us we can't let that spirit of fear stop us from doing what he wants us to do you know we're all here to work for the kingdom we cannot let that spirit of fear stop that work he has purpose uh acts 18 9 and the lord said by vision in the night to paul fear not but speak and be not silent don't be afraid to talk don't be afraid to reach out don't be afraid to come up here don't be afraid to approach the man on the corner fear not speak out god's words to paul don't be in that stronghold break them chains uh revelation 1 17. and when i saw him a fellow at his feet is dead and he laid his right hand upon me saying unto me fear not i am the first and the last fear not he has it covered from the beginning to the end he has everything covered he's there for us he's there to help us fight that fear let's make sure you know if we have fear in our heart let's reach out to him reach out for prayer if you need it if there's a fear you need help with seek him he's there to help us he helped me it can be done it will be done if you ask it will be done us all we have to do uh you know i thank you for for allowing me to bring this to you and would you join me in a closing prayer please dear heavenly father um i ask your forgiveness father uh i ask if if i have strayed from your words um i asked that you you you fill our hearts motivate us to to reach out for you father motivate us to to to break those those chains to break that stronghold down um to reach out to you for strength for courage for motivation uh for direction you know uh lead us with that truth the truth of yeshua you know let let your holy spirit overfill us let let us focus be so focused on you that there's no room for fear you know the the fear cannot touch us you have told us over and over here fear not fear not and i thank you father i ask that you put this in my heart i ask that we walk forward this week without fear that that we be that light that you require for us um that we are about your kingdom work father in the name of yeshua amen
