share with us i do not take it lightly amen [Music] i want you to open your bibles tonight to second kings chapter 18 verse 1 to 4 2 kings 18 1 to 4. i'm reading from the king james version of the bible it says now it came to pass in the third year of osha son of ilah king of israel that hezekiah the son of he has king of judah began to reign twenty and five years old was he when he began to reign and he reigned twenty and nine years in jerusalem his mother's name also was abi the daughter of zechariah and he did that which was right in the sight of the lord according to all that david his father did he removed the high places and break the images and cut down the groves and break in pieces the brazen serpent that moses had made for unto those days the children of israel did burn incense to it and he called it may the lord bless the reading of his word praise the lord the title of the brief message tonight is look up tell your brother sister tell them look up not down say look up praise the lord now this passage of scripture it's so important for us to take notice of some definite things that god will be speaking to us maybe even beyond tonight you will begin to see that what was a symbol has been turned to an object of worship what worked for them in the wilderness is no longer working now but they are still pouring libation and burning incense to it and instead of it being up on a pole as god gave moses the instruction it was down somewhere the groves and people are looking down on it burning incense to it the key word there is what hezekiah called this thing nehrushton and i began to find out what really nehushtun means it really means even some versions will already put in bracket a trifle thing of brass so the word nehushtan is the derogatory name that was given to this bronze serpent on a pole and the bible says and he called it nehrushton that he's as a child because some versions will not put it that way and that's why i went to uh king james ezekiel was the one that called it nehrushton that this thing was glorious in its past in the time that moses lifted that serpent that bronze sharpened up it delivered people it set people free but no longer was it going to be doing that anymore but somehow because it had done that in the past the people began still to burn incense to it no longer was it set up but now maybe it's somewhere in the grove somewhere and people go there and have this remembrance or memory of something it did in the past thinking that it would work for them but it wasn't working that tells you that some things that god was in in the past it may not be in it now it's no longer working he used it as a way to help them in that time and indeed it was symbolic rather than it being something to be copied throughout their generations i want you to open your spirit tonight because you are going to be looking up only to god from tonight praise the lord god is a faithful god and he's a prayer answering father hezekiah was a godly man and the bible said he followed the ways of his father david he removed the high places he break the images cut down the groves and breaking pieces the brazen serpent that moses had made because he could see that the people were worshiping it even though it had no more consequence let me take you back to numbers chapter 21 verse 4 tonight to let you see the premise what happened in those days numbers 21 verse 4 to 9 in the king james version of the bible it says and they journeyed from mount hall by the way of the red sea to compass the land of edom and the soul of the people was much discouraged because of the way and the people speak against moses i'm against god first and against moses wherefore have he brought us up out of egypt to die in the wilderness for there is no bread neither is there any water and our soul loaded this light bread that is even this manner that's dropping from heaven we are getting tired of it god is blessing and we want a different dimension and we could get to that point where we are saying our story must change but if the story does not change quickly you become very angry even with god and then against moses who was the leader of the people at that time and so the six he says and the lord sent fairy serpents among the people and they beat the people and much people of israel died the seven therefore the people came to moses and said we have sinned for we have spoken against the lord and against thee pray unto the lord because when people are against the lord it will be against the man of god pray unto the lord that he take away the serpents from us and moses prayed for the people moses prayed for the people but the prayer didn't work until god in verse 8 says and the lord said unto moses he prayed for them which is good for a leader to do pray for the people whether it was sin of omission or commission or non-commission pray for them so he prayed for them and the lord said unto moses make thee a fiery serpent because the old testament is the new testament concealed and the old new is the old revealed so it was represented something that god wanted the people to know so he said because the questions sometimes come why a fairy serpent why not a good angel why make it in the form of a fairy serpent and set it upon the pole and in fact in those days some people thought well the pole they must have said in such a way that it appeared as if it was the cross the serpent and that serpent on the pole is the same emblem for in medicine the serpent on the pole and set it upon a pole and it shall come to pass that everyone that is beaten when he looked upon us shall leave praise the lord i speak to someone tonight if you've been beaten by anything when you look upon it you shall leave oh come on say good amen and moses made a serpent of brass verse 9 and it and put it upon a pole and it came to pass that if a serpent had beaten any man when he beheld the serpent of brass he lived so it was going to happen only based on divine instruction if it was outside of divine instruction that serpent is a waste of time on that pole that brazen serpent is not going to work for anybody else if it was not even working right from the point it delivered the people then till they zakaya time it wasn't working but some people could not see the reality that it meant they could not break themselves off from what used to be into what god is about to do and i began to search why a bronzed serpent definitely jesus mentioned it jesus talked about this particular serpent brown serpent on a pole in john chapter 3 verse 14 to 16 john chapter 3 verse 14 to 16. he says and as moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness as moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness that is the symbol but you are now coming into the reality even so must the son of man be lifted up and then you look why will jesus be compared to a serpent even so must the son of man be lifted up that whosoever believeth in him should not perish but have eternal life then we know the verse 16 which some of us knew before we were even born again for god so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son that will help whosoever believeth in him should not perish but have everlasting life and i began to search why a serpent how can a serpent have a similarity to jesus serpents are often used as pictures of evil in the bible the devil came as one however he said bronze make it bronze bronze is a metal associated with judgment in the bible because bronze must be made by passing through the fires of judgment so a bronze serpent does speak of evil but evil that has been judged hallelujah a serpent speaks of evil but is bronze so there's a judgment on sin there's a judgment on evil so just as jesus who knew no sin became sin for us on the cross and our sin was judged in jesus so a brown serpent is a picture of evil judged and dealt with and so once the people looked up to that symbol the root of their sin and the door that opened for the shop and to buy them was dealt with hallelujah praise the lord are you with me tonight you know it would have been easy if the image of maybe an angel was on it or the image of a man that is wearing white we might say oh it's some good and some bad i mean something there some good some but a serpent we can more easily see the badness of a serpent is evil but bronze we judge it on the cross and so when jesus was making reference to it it was saying that once the people he was going to be lifted up just like that serpent and as the son of man is lifted up anybody who looks up to him they will be saved because he is the offer and the finisher of our faith praise the lord praise the lord and whatever serpent has beaten you will die with it praise the lord are you here tonight is a good god and he's a prayer answering father it was such that if a serpent had beaten anyone when he looked at the bronze serpent he lived the people were saved not by doing anything it's listening to this one not by doing anything but simply looking to the bronze serpent that's why your salvation or your deliverance has nothing to do with what you are doing jesus has paid the price jesus has settled it completely imagine just simply you were beaten by something just look to this brown serpent and you will leave you don't have to bring a cow you don't have to bring a goat you don't have to bring money you don't have to bring anything just look you sing the song and those that look and leave my brother leave look to jesus now and leave praise the lord he is recorded in his word hallelujah if you only look to him and live he said just look up so simply by looking to the bronze serpent they had to trust that something as seemingly foolish as looking at the serpent on a pole was enough to save them maybe somebody was in that gathering and wondering how can i move from uh where i am on the east side of the tabernacle to go and look at some lamp some pole somewhere they will die there how can this work but they had to trust there's something that looks foolish intelligible i mean unintelligent because sometimes we use a lot of logic nowadays something that does not seem to follow proper logic or nepal was enough to save them and i'm very sure surely some perished because they thought it too foolish to do that hallelujah but god is faithful tonight i don't know what you've come tonight with for those of us who are here and those who are watching online look up you see the symbol was what moses presented to them in the old testament but in the new is jesus and all we have to do is look up to him let me tell you he has changed a lot of things just by simply looking up to him not even doing anything not going anywhere not asking anything from anybody but looking up to jesus because the bible says in hebrews chapter 12 verse one to two it says wherefore sin we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of weaknesses let us lay aside every weight and the sin which does so easily beset us and let us run with patience the race that is set before us doing what looking unto jesus the author and finisher of our faith it's going to be that simple when things get rigorous you begin to know that this is not jesus it's going to be that simple hallelujah despising the shame and is set down at the right hand of the throne of god when you look to him chains are broken burdens are removed yokes are destroyed and tonight by the power in the name of jesus and the authority of his word and by the blood of the lamb it doesn't matter how that thing came on you because for these people in the old testament the way it came on them was because they were rebellious towards god and then to moses towards god first and then to moses because once you are rebellious to what god you rebel against godly leadership and so the broken edge and the serpent beat them wherever wherever the serpent has beaten you there's a turnaround from tonight you only look up to him you only have to look up to him come on tell your brother and sister tell them look up come on say confidently look up praise the lord looking unto jesus as the serpent as moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness evil so must the son of man be lifted up he was lifted up on the cross of calvary that whosoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life so it's for you right now yes you are born again you've looked up to him but also in context they looked up to him for physical helmets they looked up to him for financial issues they looked up to him for marital challenges and anybody who looked up to him became whole believed from tonight the chains are breaking over your life in the name of jesus praise the lord i say praise the lord in isaiah 45 22 isaiah 45 22 he says look unto me praise god now it doesn't matter what you're going through even if you have not done anything wrong and the serpent tries to come your way or some issues are standing against you the only person you have to look up to is jesus is the offer and the finisher of your faith here in isaiah 45 22 it says look unto me and be saved all the hands of the earth for i am god and there is none else the more you progress in life the more you begin to get to that point of realizing that there is nothing else to look up to apart from god you begin to realize it because men can only help you to a point your husband or wife can only be there to for you to a point praise the lord no matter how close the people are to you you have to get to the point where you are looking up to god and i want to announce to somebody tonight god is going to walk miracles signs and wonders things that will baffle people because you are looking up to him i said because you are looking up to him you will never fail i said you will never fail said look up to jesus the author and finisher for faith who for the joy the same way that was said before he endured the cross there are some things you may have to endure despising the shame and he sat down consequently at the right hand of the throne of god because he saw what was ahead hallelujah there is none else look unto me and be saved all the ants of the earth are you one of those i said are you one of those are you coming from the ends of the earth you're on this earth don't look to the earth you see because let me tell you what they did in those days after this frozen serpent has even lost his power after this brazen shepherd was no longer healing anybody and it's no longer standing on the pole the bible talks about high places than the groves and he calls you know groves and uh some of the other places uh that they do things you some of you come from some background you know where they put on something somewhere and you are pouring libation on it how many have put libation before you don't raise up here praise not me either but it looks as some people have done so before amen they go and they are burning incense to it thinking that the incense will appease this brown serpent that has become lifeless because anything without god is going to be lifeless anything without god is lifeless hallelujah in luke chapter 21 verse 28 we are encouraged also looking at the issues of the last days and all the things that are around us that if you were to look at those situations that are going on in the world system you will be a depressed person if you look inwards you will also be depressed but when you look up no matter what's going on around you you'll find that there is an elation there is an excitement and expectation of great things ahead for you hallelujah that's why it's important to look up to look up to him to look up to jesus now when you look up you find that that nothing no circumstance no situation can make you look down you face any challenge sometimes people want to talk to you make you look you need to be looking down and i'm not looking down i'm not looking down looking up to jesus so he says here in luke chapter 21 28 and when these things begin to come to pass do what look up not look down look up and lift up your heads say lift up your head come on say lift up your heads look up and lift up your heads for your redemption draw it now because when you are looking down you won't see even when the redemption has come look up for your redemption draw it now hallelujah praise the lord and it's going to be as simple as that recognizing the power of the cross recognizing the person of jesus christ recognizing his omnipotence recognizing his own omniscience recognizing that he's everywhere and he knows about you he knows what you are going through he knows what he wants to perfect and do in your life hallelujah so you have no other person or any other thing to look up to but to the one who was lifted like the serpent was lifted in the wilderness and anyone that looked up lived many things in life has gone that way for me that i have to look up so i don't ask for anything no just keep looking up because men can only do so much so keep looking up so that some things that are of signs and wonders especially when you have been in a corner that you have to now say lord help me the psalmist said in psalm 121 i will lift up my eyes to the heels from whence coming my help my help comes from the lord who made heaven on earth it's time for you to look up so that you can be cheerful all the days of your life there are a lot of depressed christians around depressed humanity but make up your mind that you are looking up exalted seated with christ in heavenly places far above principalities and powers here in luke 21 28 again he says and when these things begin to come to pass all you need to do is what look up say look up say look up and lift up your heads for your redemption draw it now look at your brother and sister and for those who are at home tell your husband or wife or children tell them it's that simple because when you are looking at yourself oh poor me you'll be miserable then you start getting angry with people everybody is the cause of your problem or you may logically be able to put that together and construct it together while your problem is the problem and who was responsible but when you look up to him you don't care you keep forging ahead in life i praise the lord and so i speak to somebody right now whatever you are facing look up to him i said look up to him whichever way the enemy has come against you look up every attack every disease every pain look up to him don't look down every serpentine attack in any area of your life from tonight by the power in the name of jesus the venom of that serpent by the authority in the name of jesus and by the power of his blood whether it is what somebody said or deed or action we take out that venom in the name of jesus you will live and not die i said you will live and not die you'll fulfill your purpose your marriage will not die your business will not die your finances will not die your career will not go down your purpose will be realized your destiny will be achieved in the name of jesus come on stand to your faith
