foreign somewhere over the rainbow is a land called eyes which bears a striking the resemblance to the hollywood of the late 30s in that enchanted land good triumphs over evil in breathtaking color and people never lose their innocence least of all little dorothy from kansas but quite a bit of water has flown under the bridge since dorothy first flew over that rainbow in the intervening years oz and hollywood have made a star of dorothy made her famous made her grow up to the very talented stardom comes fast learning to live with it sometimes takes a little longer no one knows that better today than the girl who's singing has a quality of heartbreak ours or hers the great judy garland oh my goodness i see you found work back there your knees are over the rainbow sweetie this is supposed to be the new knees well honey uh that's a that's almost a thigh i would say well i don't know how nice tonight well it's uh who whoever it is how are you doing yeah i'm glad you're here i'm glad you're happy i was with her together last week in hollywood and she can be in some of the most tragic situations sometimes and and i and i said it's just but then she'll say you say you know no matter how bad things are and i waited for the rest you know no matter how bad things are she said they can always get worse and somewhere behind every cloud there's a lot of rain oh but we're going to have fun tonight we're going to talk because no no one can tell show business stories like judy garland we've done shows in london we've done them here and she has this this lost more friends well did you hear from dietrich after you tell them no i never heard from her that was my idea how about you ever from diana durbin no but her eyebrows still around yeah i want that one thick eyebrow just wouldn't quit everybody's look this is one eyebrow that went across just you know just a caterpillar listen not all right all right so now you're discovering they put you in pictures now there's a this is this is uh there's mickey rooney and there's is lana turner there yet in school yeah and now they're on the mgm lot now these kids had to take regular lessons do so many hours of work run on the set and this one used to run and do her little lessons and then run on the wizard of oz said and then have to read her lessons to bert lahr who was a lion and he would help him with a lesson well can you imagine what kind of education you're going to get doing history with a guy who has whispered it's absolutely insane it's all about lana turner and mickey come on what you mean in school anything well it was an odd class they were an audience freddie bartholomew myself and ed mae durbin and mickey rooney and lana turner and uh we had a school teacher that wouldn't quit she was so mean he is terrifying woman and mickey always wanted to uh smoke so he raised his hands up with the gentleman's room this is a boy then lana went out and smoked with him a lot of nicki's smoking yeah and that's about all that i just burned inside of the school house well was it strict i mean did you actually graduate oh yeah i graduated from a university uh high school high school yes with with strangers was mickey fun making this amount and what was lana like then she was wonderful too she was they were smoking all the time no wonder mickey never grew up now what about did you recall when the beautiful little thing came in elizabeth taylor did you like that list it was a chipmunk she had liz had a chipmunk is this true now because you put nipples nipples yeah let's hope it's nibbles nipples yes yes and so what did nibbles do and everywhere she went she had this little chat everywhere she went mary had her little chipmunk there yeah elizabeth had her did you like her not very much did you like it you weren't so crazy about her no she doesn't have very good manners really no she's not that's a bad voice her acting abortion yeah she taught somebody told her to breathe all the time she's talking yeah well why tell me well who would you like would you like them i liked uh mickey rooney i liked uh mr mayor did you like mr mayor no he's very nice man he was nice to you yes he was very great motion picture man did you like jackie cooper i didn't know him did you know him no he was on another lot two blocks away oh how about freddie barthelem you know he's he works in new york in an advertising agency would you ever see any of these people well no they wouldn't let us get together they would not know they wouldn't let us know we were a hit either they never let you know we found out though yeah hey how about on the wizard of oz now that picture they show it once a year and it must cost three four hundred thousand dollars where's the money yeah well i know do you get a penny of that no oh i see well what about the the munchkin how about that what the what the dwarfs do but one of them who is about 40 a gentleman asked me for dinner and i couldn't say i don't want to go out i can't because you're midges and i i just said no my mother wouldn't fight anything come on bring your mom too you know how big was he about two inches high what what could you do with it i don't know what could he do i mean i don't know they haven't really did a lot because there was a lot of them hundreds of thousands and they put them all in one hotel room not one room one hotel in copper city and they got smashed every night and they'd pick them up in butterflyness they slam a tulip in their nose you know and then come on poor things yeah i imagine they get residuals what else we're going to talk about well whatever you want darling well let's see we can always go back to marleina oh marlena and her that's a funny thing that that didn't make her mad huh you we we say outrageous oh i i'll tell you let me tell you the story i'll make you laugh i'd like to make a laugh i make a laugh pretty good don't i yes sometimes um one time i was with levant this lavender just drives me crazy he just i mean are you trying to be his friend and he just says one time he phoned me all the way to new york late at night to tell me that never to call him on the phone he doesn't speak on the phone he tells me that well i'm a very nervous person i don't like to be bothered like that so one time he says to me why don't we go see jimmy mason because he and mason were friends and so we go up up to that to that old mansion buster keaton that's a buster keaton home and it's a beautiful old english mansion and we go in and i was very shy and i got very nervous a lot of strange weird people and there was james mason and i swear every word he's watching television and there's three sets over a fireplace and he presses whatever button he wants he was really fascinated by an evangelist out there uh uh uh what do you call it robert whatever his name is watching and others people and and pamela his wife had a lovely figure and she was rubbing her body with some kind of cream in a bikini and i thought that's interesting and uh and lavan has me nervous and i meet these strange people and i when i get nervous i say stupid things so i said to uh i was so nervous i looked over the corner and there's a little only like whisper's mother's sitting and i said to mr message i said jimmy who is that and you know amazing that's my mother and i said uh something nervousness i said do you like her and mason said not really and i fell on the floor but what a dumb thing to say but you are going home now aren't you you are yes you are no well we're going home together and um i don't want to go home you can't take over here no no no i want you god bless you and take good care of yourselves now here's the word you
